I would like to coordinate a Art-only Secret Santa (Warp Spark is helping me out).

I'm getting general opinions here: http://www.zeldauniverse.net/forums/...ret-santa.html

Re: ZU Community Center: Got an idea for a project? Read First Post!

I have an idea. =]

I noticed that YouTube was hosting this competition called, 'Super Note', where you uploaded vidoes of you attempting to sing and hold the longest note possible. Whoever could hold the note the longest was declared the winner. I don't actually know if that's still going on anymore, but yeah.

Maybe ZU doesn't like taking ideas from other websites? Just thought I'd suggest it.

The rules would be just to upload a video/audio clip of the user trying to hold the longest note. No cheating, or editing the video/audio clip to make it like 483779834 minutes long either. So yes. That is my proposal.

Do you like, margar? =3

I would win!

You know, it would be hard to figure out if their not cheating. But it could be done by looking at the sound wave, you could visually see if it loops, especially with a spectral view. If you needed help with that, let me know.

But I honestly think, even if people did cheat, it's not big deal, at least they participated.

I like the idea... it's not for everyone, but nothing is for everyone.

Lets Try This Again... //Revive

After reading the following comment, I noticed that I made an 'Opps':
Quote:
Any project you think about undertaking must first be presented and discussed in this thread(Community Central Community Thread AKA: The Plaza). I don't want this forum full of dead (albeit, however well-intentioned) projects.
A new thread can be made once it has been OKed, and after five days pass. Until then, I will paste all the info so far from the dead thread.

Quote:
The Zelda Universe Holiday Cards Ideas & Suggestions Thread

The ZUHC (Zelda Universe Holiday Cards) project is similar to the HAHC (Humulation Army Holiday Cards) project. Instead of the project being hosted by the Humulation Army, this project is for the whole of Zelda Universe.net. Unlike the Humulation Army, with only a little bit over one hundred members, ZU has a lot more. Sadly, The HAHC died from lack of activity of ideas, and suggestions. But even in death, the HAHC helped this project. If it was not for the HAHC, then I might not have got this idea, and the rules would still be unfair. I am planning on this lasting a lot longer then the HAHC, maybe even for many ZU generations to come. Hopefully, because ZU is bigger then the Humulation Army, that there will be countless posts on this thread. The ZUHC is based on a three groups. These groups are known as “the brains”, “the heart”, and “the blood.” “The Brains” are referring to the Manger, and the CO-manger. These people organize, and run the project. They also make new threads for the project [when necessary], and keep everything updated. Without “the brains” then everything would be in chaos. “The heart” is referring to the artists. These are those who draw, or make the picture/card. Without “the heart” then there would be no cards to show to other ZU members. Last, but not least, there is “the blood.” These are suggesters, and represent want “the people” want on the card. Unlike ZU’s monarchy, the ZUHC project is a democratic system. Without suggesters, then there would be nothing to put on the card because we don’t know what people want. These members are everyone else on ZU who are not manager, CO-manager, or artist. Like anything upon anything, there is a short, but brief FAQ. If you have any questions that were not answered in the FAQ, then please leave a message on this thread, or send me a message to me by either profile, or PM. I bolded some parts of this thread so it would be easier for you to find possible answers in the body which I typed.

Why was the ZUHC made?

The ZUHC was made for the same reason as the HAHC; to spread Holiday cheer throughout ZU, the ZU-way.

I want to become the Co-manager! How do I become one?

Well, first of all, I pick who I think would do a good job managing the project with me. As of now, I am thinking that a Community Coordinator should be a Co-manger since they have skills running projects on ZU. But, that would not be fair, so if you want to become one please send me a PM in the following format:

Quote:
Dear Zien/Zelda Ninja [either would be ok],

[Enter body of paragraph(s)]

[End with “Sincerely, {Enter Username Here"}]
It needs to be detailed, and should tell me why I should pick you out of everyone else on ZU. I know that December is busy for most people; therefore, there is no due date yet.

I want to become an artist for the project! How do I become one?

Artists for this project are picked by the manger, and CO-manger. But, it is more of a “sign me up” kind of deal. Due to costly mistakes in the HAHC, I am making it so anyone and any amount of people can be an artist. Artists can use, but are not limited to: pencil/pen & paper, computer graphic programs, etc. As long as you can somehow get the picture on the computer, then you are allowed to do it. Heck, if you can, you can even take a picture of people in real life, fix up it up a little, and post it on ZU.

Are there any rules for making cards? If so, what are they?

Cards can be anything (like I have said before), but it most also be in reasonable size. I do not want to see a picture that takes up a whole page of a thread…

Are there any more rules?

Of course there are!
-Only the manager and CO-manager may make the ZUHC threads. Mods can lock them when necessary, but I rather have the CO-manager, or manager make the threads. If the past thread is locked, and neither the manager, nor CO-manager has made the thread…then a mod may make the new one.

-If you are not on the artist list, please do not make a card! If you want to become an artist for the project, then please just ask. It is very simple, so there is no need to try to sneak your way into the list.

-All of ZU's rules apply.

Where does the ZUHC project get worked on?

I do not know now, but I am working on it. I think I have two possibilities; a hidden ZU forum, or a free forum of my own. If it is on ZU, then only certain members may see the forum. If it is on a free forum, then everyone who wants to help may see the main forums, but there will still be hidden forums to stop people from peaking.

Can there be more then one CO-manager?

I will add extra help if I need it. If the project gets as large as I hope, then there could be a possibility.

How do people get picked to be on the cards?

Good question! But, I have no idea yet… :Z Everything I think of has some kind of bias results. A brawl is bias on skills, A-Z/Z-A order can never be done, and there is no way for people to be drawn… So, if you have a non-bias way to pick people, share your idea on this thread. Due to the vast number of users, I may have to change the whole “pick” thing entirely. But, time will tell.

That is all for now! I will update this post when necessary. Now, get going, and give us your ideas, and suggestions!

Re: ZU Community Center: Got an idea for a project? Read First Post!

soooo... the next holiday is valentines day
I always thought this project was a great idea, and I want to see it succeed!

I like how you've organized the process much better this time. if you want, whoever your managers/comanagersm and artists are, They can become coordinators and have access tot he coordinators board, and there can be a public thread in community central for people to talk and submit their ideas, while the artists and managers can have the hidden thread to talk about the more private details and share ideas.

how many managers/comanagers/artists would there be? I like the idea of just you being the manager, and having one co-manager, or two if there are holidays close to eachother (like christmas and new years) and just a few artists. I think you should out a cap on the amount of artists allowed so it doesn't get too crazy.

as for the final card chosen, well actually I think there's nothing wrong with having more than one card. if 3 people wantedto do the art for a card, and all three are great, why not use them all? why reject someone's hard work? if you put a cap on the number of artists, then you wouldn't have to worry about 10 people making christmas cards, etc...

of course, you fdon't have to do what I say, my main point was simply that there shouldbe a limit on the number of artists for any one project.

other than that, I fully support this project, and if you'd like, I can pitch all the old zuhc and hahc threads so they are out of the way and you can start anew.

BUT FIRST- show of hands- anyone reading this out there who thinks this is a kewl idea? *waits with hand in the air*

Since I thought of the idea, I suppose it wouldn't count if I voted. XP
I agree that there should be a limit, but I want the number to be large enought that if any problems appear, another card could take its place. Yet, I do not want it too small that people might get angry towards not being one. I was thinking about a rotation. For example, lets say Alex, Jeff, Bob, Jeff and Will want to be artists. But, there can only be three artists at a time. Alex, Jeff, and Bob can be artists for the first round...then Jeff, and Will can be artists (if they want to) because they didn't get a chance last time.

I love this idea for holiday greetings, hopefully it'll make it this time. Not only do I think it's a great idea, I'd love to help with the drawing and design of the cards (frankly, I'm not an artist here), you have my support Zien .

I've got an activity planeed for April Fools day so I figure may as well join the Holiday Cards project. Since this is a Zelda Forum, how about we take images of all Link's Potential love interests and show them giving him a heart Container. It may sound cheeasy but I think it could be cute.

Re: ZU Community Center: Got an idea for a project? Read First Post!

well here you go, zien go on and make a new ZUHC thread and collect a couple volunteers for the first project.

my advice is to simply pick a small team, let me know who's on it, and I will give you all access to the coordinator board. meanwhile, everyone can submit their ideas in the public thread.

Personally, I'd like to see the card design kept secret. as in, we all give our ideas and talk about them, but no one knows what was truly decided on by the team and artist until they come out. I just wantto preserve the element of surprise.

Can you tell that I never peeked at my presents while groing up? lol! I don't like to ruin surprises

How about, a ZUCC?
It would stand for Zu Comics Committee, and would basically be a team of people making a web comic or two for ZU.

We do have the sprite comic forum, andthe art forum here on ZU. perhaps you could see if some people from there would be interested in doing such a thing. then you could make a private user group for it.

Oh, and there's no way in heck I'll allow another silly ZUxx acronym, lol!

would these comics be for the newsletter, or on the main site, or the forums... what would be their pupose?

I was thinking the main site, although they could probably fit into a newsletter, too.

Ninny: What exactly would they be? Just random comics, comics about ZU itself, or comics just generally about Zelda?

Be more specific, rather then just "Let's make a group to make comics!"

Re: ZU Community Center: Got an idea for a project? Read First Post!

It could be all three. I mean, this idea would produce a committee, with lots of people. If we only make one comic, it would be a huge waste of talent, I feel.

Really, in my original idea, I felt that they would be, kind of random comics, though. Kinda like VG Cats. They would be comics with the same characters, but their only goal would be to make people laugh, not to, you know, make a story.

Re: ZU Community Center: Got an idea for a project? Read First Post!

well, it's definately a do-able thing, since with all the talk about a newsletter, and people expressing interest in seeing comics/art feature be a part of it somehow, there will most likely be plenty of opportunity for a thing this to take off.

here's the thing- I'm wondering if this would be better as a social group, a community coordinators project, or something different alltogether...

It could be as simple as making a discussion thread in the art section for people who like to draw comics, and then see what evolves from that?
What I'd love to see is just these pockets of active talent going, and then all the projects that ZU does, liek the podcast, the newsletter, and news onthe main site, we'll have so many things simply to feature- not as having come from a faction or organization of official people, but by simply encouraging people to do these things and share them, making it as open as possible.

am I being too hippie-idealistic here?
lol!

What is it with people wanting huge committees for simple projects all of a sudden? BPP currently has 2, with Asia and Margar popping in once in a while. Holiday Cards has three or four people. And suddenly we have people wanting committees of dozens of people for things like writing a quick newsletter, or making comics.

I'd say narrow it down, to actually be a topic. Otherwise, why wouldn't people just post their own comics in art/writing, or in the Sprite Comic place? It just seems to general. Define what exactly it would be, rather then just everyone gathering around and throwing out random comics.

EDIT:
Quote:

I'd say that if it's a group of 5-10 specific people, a social group would be best. If it becomes a specific topic/theme with two or three people, then it would make sense in CC. If it's open free-for-all let's post comics, it should just be a thread.
