Thoroughly depressed that I seem to have missed this Gender Wars deal.

I rather NOT have the Gender Wars again, though. It's the reason why I didn't participate in the furst place.

Hey everyone. I loved the initial interest in this thread and the feedback I was getting. But I need it to keep comming if anyone wants to get some more stuff rolling!

I definitely want to see the caption thing come back.

Okay everyone!

I'm going to bring back the CotW. But I want some imput on how to work it better. Asia and I talked about it a while back and we brainstormed some ideas and I need to know what people would rather see.

Just a recap of how it ws run last time. A picture would be chosen and put up for 1 week for people to submit captions on. Then, there would be a voting thread open for one week, while another picture was also posted for that week. When voting was done, the winner would pick the next picture.

Things to change that we talked about first of all were opening it up so people could choose any picture they wanted and do a caption for it. The idea was that it would open things up for a little more creativeity from more people. Secondly, Asia suggested that I shorten the time the threads were open to try and keep more interest in them without drawing it out too much.

So please tell me what you think because I know this is one a lot of people want to see come back and I hope to get it up and going again soon.

Something like a chess game or tournament would be better suited as part of a larger event such as the GW or a survivor type thing. However if it's something you'd be interested in taking up by all means gather some interest and get it going.

Hiya all...

So I was thinking about putting together a ZU chess thingy, but before I decided to make a thread for it, I thought I would ask some questions.

It would probably be like a chess tournament, that would run over a couple of weeks or a month or something. The thread could also act as a way for ZUers to know who is into chess and they could verse each other. I would probably do it through Chess.com...

Questions include:

Has anything like this been done/tried before? If so, was it met with success or did it just whither and die before any interest developed? If there was such a thing that might have happened, was it recent? Say within the last year or say?

Is there some existing ZU chess network sort of thing that I am unaware of that would make this concept redundant?

I would appreciate some answers from anyone that might be able to shed some light.

Yeah. Done it in previous Clan Wars.

Didn't turn out good because of time factor (turn expiration) and for some others it dragged way too long that in the end; we had to just declare whoever it is that won.

I have a couple different ideas but idk if people would go for them:

* Rant contest thread: a topic is picked each week, people type out/audio/video a rant about it, and then after the week is up we pick the best/funniest. Topics can be anything from serious to stupid, from zelda to.. idk not zelda.

* Movie conversation thread: We all watch the same movie and then come together to discuss it. We could also use the thread to arrange groups of us to watch them together :''3 Which is complicated but I bet if we tried we could make it work.

*Book club! People who like to read. Could be once a week or maybe more realistically once a month, and then come together and talk about it and analyze and stuff! whee~

~~ I also miss the conversation game/Question tag thread. Hopefully those can come back eventually. Side note: I wouldn't mind stepping in to help run them if others don't have time.

You can re-begin the Conversation Game 'coz you wouldn't mind stepping in to help run that game.

This seems like somethng that could either go over really well or be a flop. The biggest problem I'd see with it would be that if a lot of people enter that could become a LOT to read, and many people may not want to do that, which causes problems when voting. I love ranting, and I like the idea, I'm just not sold on the execution of it.

I think it's easy to say these two go together. Though not CC material, I think they would go over really well in Entertainment and I'd love to see them happen. I'd recoment talking to the ENT mods and see what they think.

I think Buu does plan on bringing the QT back, though I'm not sure, and I don't know what the conversation game is.
