The Grand Australian (Sydney) Meetup 2012

HEY GUYS SUP YO

This post will be updated with more detail and perhaps a mighty fine looking banner soon enough, but until then it's ALL TEXT.

Let's start with a few broad ideas, from brainstorming with zay earlier:

When: Sometime around June/July might be a good idea, in case interstate peeps want to join us (or heaven forbid, international friends - hi theresa beyoncé azzy muffinhead i want you) but if anybody thinks it should be earlier or later, we're open to suggestion.

Where: The meeting point I first think of is Central Station, after that we can go anywhere in the city.

What to do: Anybody have any suggestions? We can hang out, do something in particular? We could organise a picnic in the botanical gardens?


So, who is interested?


(also if anybody wants to come out tomorrow afternoon for my birthday that would also be cool)

I'm defiantly in, I'm up for going to that bar in Bondi you were talking about but I also know 2 good places in the city and one good place in Burwood, we'll see how else is interested~

I'm probably in as long as I'm not in the US for E3 at the time. :3

Unless it's going to be like that time at Changi airport where we almost met but you didn't reach the gate in time.


also Isaiah I am glad you are defiantly in. It's almost as good as being definitely in. :')

If you are, we can reschedule it, we just chose a random date somewhere in the future so it isn't short notice, we will go into the exact day when more people show interest, make it convenient for everyone, cause the more the merrier!

Not sure. I was thinking about heading to Sydney for the EB Expo this year, if I can afford it, but that's not until later in the year, around October. Sounds fun, though.

Well, I never leave Sydney so I'm pretty sure I can make it. I have night shifts at the restaurant I work at, but I'm sure I can arrange for a night off in advance. Yay!

I'll um, possibly be bringing my boyfriend 'cause he's technically part of the forum. Technically.

well we are trying to work around peoples schedule cause we want everyone to be happy, firstly we decided to make it a bit later just to assure that Cody can come cause he may be at E3 at the time. Although, making it in october would, assure Cody could come, heighten the chance that you could come, and also give El some time to settle down after coming back from the US, which would heighten the chance that she would be able to come, so if you think you actually are going to the EB expo in October, please let us know, cause it would work out really well, I'd be happy to hold it off until then anyway cause more people get to come that way~

Now me and Nate were discussing a few days ago what we should do, and we thought that we would like to go to the zoo, aquarium or the botanical gardens....and at this point we are looking towards the gardens the most.

Please, if you have any idea, speak up guys!


Oh and also, we want to make this official by making a date that is set in stone cause at the moment, we just have the future, perhaps we can make a clearer idea after Pani decides if she wants to go to the EB expo in October, cause that would change a lot, although if not, well could do it much sooner then that, but either way works fine for me.

if you have one at the end of 2013 again i will be able to make it. or very early 2014. I know that is a long way off but just saying.

haha well, maybe if we organize another one, but for this one, we would like to keep it some time this year; you may just have to sit this one out....BUT perhaps we can organize something a lot smaller in the near future that you could attend.

yeah i meant if you had another one. lol or i can organise one in perth in like a year and a half. we will worry about that then.

Also, when exactly is E3 just so we can organize around that, if we aren't doing it in October, we would also have to factor in some rest time before you head off to Sydney straight after getting back from E3.

i didn't really say it right. My use of words wasn't great.

I'll be doing my best to get to the expo. Not sure how long I'll be in Sydney, though, since I might just be crashing on a friend's sofa for the weekend. But I'll keep you posted.

While I have everyone's attention:

I'm planning to visit Kangarooland in October-November, something like that. I've always wanted to go, see cool stuff and meet people that I know. I'm thinking of going to the... I guess south-east coast, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, around those areas. Where I go and how long I'll stay will largeley depend on where I can stay

So... if you want to meet up, maybe give me a couch to sleep on for a few nights, send me a PM or something. Nothing's set in stone and won't be for a few months but I want to start preliminary planning early
