This is a glitch that happens from time to time that will be sorted out later. Luckily there's a fairly easy way to fix it, just exit and re-enter the area you're in. So if you're in a cave, walk into the field and back. If you're in the field, walking into the forest or cave and back.
Some of the things being brought up are adressed in the OP of the thread

Hmmm... changed my profile to avoid further confusions .

@Mattocks: Sry, I somehow overlooked that ^^'' (guess I just couldn't wait to play a Zelda game, even though it is just a demo... XD). Well that explains why I could hit these octorocks as soon as I reentered the area

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Timeless Haven. New Mini Game!

Alright, Hombre has made a couple quick fixes to the game. He's adressed Tonch's glitch, as well as the not being able to hit octorocks thing. The link in the OP has been updated.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Timeless Haven. New Mini Game!

^ Yeah want to explain more in-deph here.

We've made 2 fixes to the demo. We don't plan on making any at all, but these glitches that are essentially game-breaking were fortunately enough 5-second fixes so severity high and risk to screw other things up low - yeah we can do that.

The hitting octorok thing had a solution already but now it shouldn't need to be applied.

re-play the game tonch, you can't get stuck now

On another note, it's interesting to see how people like Mattocks not being able to finds the cave (depsite extra hints from me personally) and raged when he finally did () while Lex88 found it and liked it.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Timeless Haven. New Mini Game!

CANUCK RAGE AT THAT!

Not as well that even though the guy in the town tells you there is a concealed cave in the forest, there are actually two. So it could be taken that the deku scrub cave is the one he's talking about.

idk how to comment (I'm not adept with language), all I can say is that I like the game. I'm sorry for not able to say much.

You shouldn't take me as reference... I'm kinda crazy when it comes to those things, I like it when the player has to explore, has to talk to people (when the player got stuck or just beforehand) and when the player gets a real big grin on his face as soon as he/she finds the "secret" others get stuck with (I'm all in for oldschool Zelda games!!)

Ahem, enough of that, back to business ^^.
... I just realized the huge easter egg in the concealed cave where you have to move the stones (the sprite... the sprite!! LOL).

But now to two things:
1. If you buy a blue potion (probably doesn't matter if a red or blue one) BEFORE you get your bombs legally, somehow bombs appear in your inventory and you can use them (therefore, the chest in the forest is empty).

2. sound issue:
As soon as I got the key in the cave where you can fight the wizardrobe (first one), the sound volume increased A LOT oO" (and no, it wasn't due to myself hitting the key to increase the sound value LOL!). After leaving the room where the key was, the sound volume reverted back to normal.

^ That last thing there was something we noticed and fixed pretty soon but 48 people already downloaded the original version with the sound increase glitch present, guess you were one of them.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Timeless Haven. New Mini Game!

Okay, since the demo is out, I guess I can give some of my input on some things...

The maps have improved since the alpha demo, which is a bit of a given, but they're still not really that great. Some of them, judging by the screens I've saw, look a bit randomized... Also to be frank, I don't like how overly large the shop looks, and given how empty the room is, it hurts it more. You do not have to fill an entire screen to make a room. As far as I can tell, it seems like every interior of a building is like that.

The hud has also improved a bit, which I like. However I honestly dislike that action icon thing at the top of the screen. It's very distracting and honestly, I don't think people need a reminder of of what buttons to press to roll or pick up or something.

Granted, TMC's R Button did the same thing, but it was mostly out of the way on the screen and not distracting.

That's all I have to say for now. It's not necessarily bad, but it has room for improvement. Especially the maps.

Edit: Another thing I just remembered. I really don't like the use of shadows in this. It looks completely unnatural.

^Did you actually play the demo? Because some things you said sound a bit like you didn't...

The Hud was essentially just reskinned with prettier visuals, it hasn't been redesignd properly yet, which we will. That will include moving things like the action box to better place, I personally dislike its current location as well, as do others on the team.

I watched a video of the new demo and looked at screenshots. I would have experienced the same thing if I had played the demo.

And the more I watched, the more disappointed I got. I realize that this game has taken about a year to develop with many people, and I know that making games are pretty hard, but it looks pretty unprofessional for a fan-game at this time. I'm especially disappointed with the town and its 'citizens'.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Timeless Haven. New Mini Game!

I personally don't think 6 people are many when it comes to game develloping. Especially if among those there's only 1 fully capable programmer. Sadly, not all the time of that 1 year has been effective development time, because we are running this project in our (limited) free time.
It seems like you were expecting more of a "finished" demo, which is not what we are giving you atm. The community members are essentially our alpha testers. Pretty much nothing in the demo is in it's final stage, because we want to involve the community into creating this game by giving them the chance to give suggestions and tell us what they like and dislike. This would not be possible if we didn't involve you in an early stage like this.

Also, I think it's a bit silly to say that looking at screenshots and watching a let's play is the same thing as playing a game...

Anyway, thanks for the feedback. I, initially, just wanted to check wether or not you played the demo.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Timeless Haven. New Mini Game!

Goron Moron, please keep in mind that this demo is meant to help root out bugs in the programming as well as getting opinions on the overall gameplay. Nearly all the NPCs and some of the buildings are just place holders for now. We want to know what it's like for someone playing the game. Watching videos isn't the same as playing. If it was then they wouldn't sell games, they'd simply sell videos. So with the interest of finding out how the controls feel and respond we encourage you to actually play the game.

This team is no where near a proper game developement team. We're all part time, and we don't even all have experience with programming (I for example am completely useless when it comes to that). Making a game takes professionals years to do full time, so please have some patience with us. We're looking for constructive feedback to help us improve and better involve the ZU community, not simple statements of how bad it is. So I'd ask you not to leave comments like that.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Timeless Haven. New Mini Game!

His name and his line are a reference to "Metroid: other M". It's quite likely that he will be replaced by a less generic character anyway. Buuuut...chances are there will be guards, and chances are that we wont mind a FF reference. I just have to make sure to convince Doran that it's a Star Wars reference.:p (which is true... kinda)

The game needs more references to "the Baby".

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Timeless Haven. New Mini Game!

Bitterlime, you're funny.

Yea, I'd make it a SW reference before I made it a FF reference...though I suppose people could take it either way and pretend. Don't get me wrong, all you purists -- I love FF as an art center, but would choose SW lore over that series any day.

And I don't think we have anyone in the game yet that's rockin' the 70's stache like Darklighter would. Oh yea...that's hawt.
