The Legend of Zelda: Timeless Haven. New Mini Game!

Well, it's really too bad you couldn't find someone who could code in one of those. Game maker, while easy, puts me in a situation where I'm going to be unable to play it, they have no plans for a Linux port. I can code a bit of python, but I'm still learning, and wouldn't be of much help even if you were coding in python. Best of luck, and I hope you choose to release open source.

It isn't so much a problem of finding someone, but of finding enough people to actually create a game. Not only that, but people to rely on. We've already changed over, nearly all of the original team we chose.

So it was a lot easier for us to simply use game maker, something even the most basic programmer (though still not me) can understand and work with.

One developer can make a game. It's just going to take a long time. Just sayin'.

Ohh I thought this was being programmed, like, from the ground up. I know C++, some C# and a few web-based languages (PHP, JavaScript..) but haven't bothered with GM much since yeah.

How exactly is everything being done then? Does GM have its own basic game-centric language or something?

^ Yup, called GML (Game Maker Language). Some sample code for you if you're curious:

if instance_exists(obj_hero) {
direction = point_direction(x,y,obj_hero.x,y)
image_angle = direction
}

And what this basically means is that the enemy (who has this code) turns to face the hero (the character you play as). At least I think so

I've restored OP so you can download Octorok Blast again. Please give us some feedback on it since we never gathered them on our local computers (meaning it's not gone).


Also I wanted to post this message I got in an email, it's always very nice for us to get these kinds of comments and that people out there like what we do.

So, I'm no one important, but I am a huge Zelda fan (effing huge) and I'm just curious as to what happened to Timeless Haven? I normally hate fan-made games due to the fact of how poorly made they are, spelling mistakes, awful storylines, etc. etc. but I saw Timeless Haven and I was impressed. So impressed that I downloaded the demo, then I was insanely impressed (once I realized the animated intro was a joke)! Then I realized, "Eh, give'em a few months and they'll drop it. It'll never be finished". This was when I saw the wise-crack about fan games coming and going faster than George Clooney's hoochie-mamas or whatever. I was relieved. Time went on, I saw no updates and I eventually forgot about it until today when I came across the demo again in my download folder. That game has so much potential! It's literally the only fan game I've ever enjoyed! With that said, is Timeless Haven still undergoing development, or has it been dealt the very fate its developers so arrogantly mocked at Clooney's expense? And if development HAS come to a hault, what can be done to get it back up and running? Timeless Haven HAS to happen!

Awwww... Not for Mac... I can't play!

The only issue I saw was that I was able to open the door to the Darknut without a key. May want to fix that.

I've been overseeing things. You've been doing a great job running it though, haven't wanted to get in the way.

I played the beginning of the demo and what I love the most are the lighting/smoke effects.

My only complaint is that sometimes when link is walking it seems like the sprite is "floating" above the ground.

This is an awesome game. Especially for me since I am a diehard LTTP fan.

Can someone point me to where I can get the Hyrule Field theme? I love that soundtrack! It's absolutely a great tribute to Koji Kondo.

^ Soundtrack is made by us and isn't available anywhere. If there's sufficient demand we might release an OST album upon the game's release
