Official ZU Fan Game Thread

Okay, this thread isn't going to spiral into a spam and troll fest. That is the whole reason we want to only foccus on sign ups right now, so that result would be ironically counter productive.

Randy, I've PMed Tyr, and I will discuss this issue in private with him, so no need to worry about it.

Alright I see where the source of the misunderstanding was. It is clear now to me why Mattocks did what he did, and while I don't think it worked out as well as it could have, I don't fault him for trying. I apologize.

However, all these issues are really distracting me from coding, so I have decided to work on this on my own for the time being. I might pop up from time to time to bounce idea off the forums, but I am not officially associating myself or my project with ZU.

I would like to thank Tyr for his work though. We wish him the best of luck with his project, and as I told him, I look forward to seeing progess on his game, and more importantly comparing games for bragging rights.

On that note, this project is officially going to swap from C++ to Game Maker. For those who just shouted "What!?! NO!", hear me out.

- The coding is simpler, and will involve less reinventing the wheel. This will make the final game less glitchy and will allow the in progress game to be built faster.
- The simpler language will make it easier to find people who are capable and willing to help out.
- The game will be on PC, not Wii, which will make it more accessible to the community.
- Until someone more capable then me appears, I'll be taking charge of the programming. I have the basic game mechanics in the making right now, and will hopefully have a version of that up for testing sometime soon.

I know there have been a lot of changes in all this since it was first proposed, but don't worry, the project hasn't fallen apart yet.

Also, we appear to have a shortage of spriters right now. If you know anyone, or you happen to enjoy spriting, please consider sending in an application or contacting us about it.

No idea what you mean by "kind of sprite". It can be in any format. It's a pain in the neck system to use, but to add images you basically have to copy/paste each sprite in separately. Format and file type don't matter.

(Also, we'll be willing to share as well, though I think we might end up working in different styles. So if you see some amazing sprite here, we'll be happy to let you use it as well. ^_^)

Yes, Steel is staying on. Without him the story wouldn't have come to be. He and I will be working closely to revamp the story as we don't want to steal any adaptation Thunder might have had to Steel's story, so we're going back to the basics and work from there. The plot of the story will not be discussed here until the overall plot has been approved.

I will say, however, that writers that come aboard the project will be allowed the full extent of the plot and will be given specific segments in which to work in. We will be doing this because it will allow the writers more free reign and the chance to express themselves.

All this talk of expression and free reign has me really hoping I get on as a writer and good luck to Tyr, although I don't know what the problem was (probably not my business) I hope everything is resolved and that both projects are successful!

I'm afraid I can't follow through with spriting. I'm busy spriting for GraalOnline Classic Server. We are coming along great now after five years!

Where are you going to host all the files for your GameMaker game? You are going to need a new one since our pages of lore google page is going to remain with me. Helping you get a new one is the least I could do. Having to email files back and forth is annoying.

Chances are we'll either upload the files to a filesharing site (mediafire) or post the code on the forums. Don't worry, we'll figure it out. ^_^

No, it won't remain as Lost Chapters, the new title is still under debate.

Pages of Lore is yours, have fun with it. (On that note, the book theme is staying more or less the same, so we're still using the icon that had been for PoL for this project, just a heads up.)
