ATTENTION Zelda Universe
Have you ever listened to a radio show and said "I could do that!" or heard a podcast and thought "It would be so cool to be a part of something like that."? Well check it out:
The ZUBC is looking for a bright new Host/Production Assistant (or PA's) for the ZUcast! We need an enthusiastic, friendly and creative person to complete our team in order to improve the quality of the ZUcast.
We are about to start doing a few things differently when it comes to the hosting style, two things in particular:
1. We'll have four hosts; Margar, Cody, Link, and this new person. There will be two hosts per 'cast, and we'll shuffle up pairings throughout the year.
2. Our hosts will be active in the production and writing process, taking part in weekly meetings where at least one of the two Co-Executive Producers (Liah and Margar) will be present. Meeting days and times will be flexible to accommodate schedules, but it
will be once weekly, with extra sessions (for recording and such) as needed. Possibly, it will be required for that month's hosts to be present at all four meetings for a given month, while the non-hosting PA's would need to attend two (probably the first two of the month).
At these meetings, everyone must put aside everything else and offer their fullest concentration to the matter at hand. Your Producers are busy ladies with jobs and households to run, and we can still have fun while working, I promise!
Note: You do not have to be a regular forum member to be a part of this podcast. Whether you're a main-site visitor, forum rat, or wiki-junkie, we believe everyone can bring something unique to the table.
Also, if you are an existing member of the ZUBC you are permitted to submit an audition entry should you wish, but will abide by all set rules and regulations like all other auditions.
Here's a rough idea of how the process will go and what requirements we ask of our new recruits:
Process (a one-month time-frame/the production of one podcast):
- Week one: discuss what segments are going into the podcast this month including the order they'll be in, as well as creative transition ideas for the hosts to use while moving from segment to segment. Write a first-draft script.
- Week two: Listen to any segments that are recorded and write/edit previous script.
- Week three: Listen to any recorded segments and tweak script if necessary. Start recording under the instruction/direction of the script and producers.
- Week four: Hopefully all recording is done, but if any last-minute things need to be done we'll do it here, and then crank it out for editing ASAP.
Requirements (100% a must):- Skype (it's free and you can download it here).
- A headset or headphones & a mic (not just a microphone).
- Audacity, or some other way to reliably record MP3 files of decent quality. 44100 sample rate preferably, but (grudgingly) not required.
- A file hosting account (there are plenty of good free ones) I strongly recommend MediaFire.
- RELIABILITY- Enough time to devote one-two hours a week (three is at the upper end, and we'd try to avoid that).
- Grammar, spelling, and schmoozing/conversation skills (or at least willing to learn), as well as being able to take critique.
- Energy and enthusiasm.
- Flexibility, willing to compromise and think critically.
- You will receive a ZU e-mail account (ZU staff use Gmail) and this must be checked regularly. If you already have a Gmail account, that's fine, too. Also, being vigilant in checking for updates in the staff forums is mandatory.
How to Apply:- Write a few paragraphs that include why you want to host and produce, what skills you bring to the table, and one suggestion or idea for the cast.
- Turn what you've written into a two-three minute speech. Record it while sounding as natural and non-scripted as you can.
- Turn in both; written application and recorded speech (which don't have to be identical, since the written and spoken word are different art forms many times).
- Send your submissions ONLY to this address: zubc@zeldauniverse.net. NO PMs. NO VMs. NO IN-THREAD SUBMISSIONS. NO EXCEPTIONS! If you do not follow these rules, your submission is likely to be ignored.
Due date:
December 10.
I'm sure people will have questions, so ask away!
