Re: Setir

Name: Setyr

Race: Storm Spirit

Age: 317 years

Weight: 235 lbs.

Height: 6'2"

Appearance: A male in his late teens, with shoulderlength, curly, black hair, and eyes entirely black. Setyr is heavily muscled, with bone-white skin, and wears only black pants and a silver choker. He carries a chain-mace in his belt, and a spiraling black dragon tribal tattoo spans the width of his back, miniatures of it encircling his wrists.

Weapon: A chain mace, with two feet of silver chain, and a handle and head fashioned from a lustrous black metal harvested from a fallen star. In Setyr's grip a powerful electric current runs through it, and on impact the head looses an explosion of lightning, capable of stunning most foes, in addition to dealing heavy damage.

Armor: Upon entering combat, the tattoo on Setyr's back unwinds, splitting into black ribbons and spiraling tightly around his body, serving to deflect the attacks of his foes, if somewhat less consistently than true armor.
The silver choker is actually a magical collar, confining Setyr to a single, corporeal form, and binding his power to its current level. Its main function is to constantly absorb power, but its enchantment is indiscriminate. It will seek to absorb energy hurled at Setyr, discharging electrical energy to do so. Effectively, when Setyr is struck by an energy-based attack, its force is blunted, and lightning crackles from his choker in a 4-foot radius.

Strengths: Because of his condensed form, Setyr possesses great speed and power, as well as highly acute senses and reflexes.

Weaknesses: Contact with most worked metal causes Setyr immense pain, and the only exceptions he's found are silver and the star metal in his mace.
When Setyr unleashes an energy-based attack, the choker around his neck constricts, the tightness and duration of the constriction being proportionate to the amount of power unleashed.

Skills/Magic: A primary aspect of Setyr's power is his ability to bring forth, and control, the forces of a thunderstorm. Lightning, buffeting winds, and driving rain, all are within his power, though at a price from the choker.
Tempest Aura (Passive) - Setyr is charged with electrical power, which trails from him in sparks, primarily from his hands, unless he wills it otherwise. He is also surrounded by a brisk, cold wind, with scattered drops of rain. It takes serious effort to suppress this aura.
Tempest Aura (Active) - A miniaturized thunderstorm manifests in a 10-foot sphere around Setyr, containing high-force winds, freezing mist, and a static field, damaging, and potentially paralyzing, his foes.
Lightning Sentinel - A ball of lightning manifests and orbits around Setyr, waiting for the command to strike, generally used to disrupt an attack.
Compression - A sphere of compressed air slams into the target, exploding on impact, generally used to knock the enemy back, rather than to do damage.
Brand - If Setyr is able to lay either hand on the bare flesh of an enemy, the tattoo on that wrist flows onto them, making its way to a particularly vulnerable part of the body. He commonly targets the eyes. It then delivers a continuous, high voltage, electrical shock.

Personality: Setyr is, like most people, conflicted. He is distant, cold, and calculating, but this is merely a defense mechanism to cover up his rage and sorrow, and a way to protect himself from becoming attached to anyone. He feels at peace when listening to music and when fighting, and will protect innocence whenever necessary. What is "innocent", however, is highly subjective, and rarely does he find anything to place in that category.

Biography: Setyr was formed when a powerful mage sought to control a thunderstorm by tapping a great font of wild magical energy. The man suddenly found himself surrounded by the storm, shaken by thunder. He became the first to hear a thunderstorm laugh. Setyr roamed the skies, taking joy in simply existing. He was the first of his kind, and to this day has not met another storm spirit. He flew with birds, with dragons, with the wind itself, sometimes mimicking their forms. He reveled in his power and his freedom, pitying those who passed who could not join him in the sky. He met a few elemental beings like himself, and treasured the time spent with them, but always moved on. He loves to be free.
But one day he met a creature more like him than any he had known. Her name was Ma'aret, and She was a goddess. She met him in the skies, wearing a humanoid form, and he felt compelled to follow suit. It was the first time he had donned a human form. She smiled at him, and laughed at his confusion. She pulled him close, and kissed him. With that kiss came the knowledge of language, and of her name, and her nature. She was a caretaker of the world beneath them, watching over its people where she passed. She had known of him from the moment he came to be, for the sky and its inhabitants were within her domain, but had not approached, out of caution. But Ma'aret had decided that he was safe, and capable of friendship, and so had sought him out. They did not part, and she taught him many things. The longer he was around her, the more Setyr became a conscious individual, rather than a semi-sentient storm. He learned responsibility, and friendship. He learned to care for things, and for people, but most of all, he cared for Ma'aret. Indeed, he was in love with her, and she knew it, though he did not.
Sadly, so did Ma'aret's enemies. She was a high-ranking goddess, and as such very desirable as a mate, for by the laws of their kind, when deities married, their power was shared. One god, Amaere, was particularly persistent, and he was strong enough that Ma'aret would profit from their union. However, she turned down all advances, refusing to tie herself to anyone simply for the sake of power. Ma'aret would marry only for love, and she found it in the blissful innocence of Setyr. He knew nothing of politics, and spoke his thoughts, and feelings, freely. She fought this feeling, however, because for a deity to marry outside its own race was forbidden, and would immediately strip her of all her power, killing her.
But she couldn't hide it forever, and one day she told Setyr of her love for him, and overjoyed he said he loved her, too. Ma'aret knew she could not marry him, but she believed they could at least acknowledge their love for each other. She underestimated the depth of Amaere's jealousy, and hatred. He was a god of earth, fire, and battle, and it was not in his nature to forgive, or to concede a victory. Immediately upon discovering the relationship between Ma'aret and Setyr, he began plotting their downfall. His only obstacle was Ma'aret herself, for she was a truly powerful deity. Quickly, he found a solution.
The day after Setyr and Ma'aret declared their love for each other, they lay in a pine glade in the far north of that world. Ma'aret had fallen asleep in Setyr's arms, as they whispered to each other, but she awoke to find him gone. She was standing in an instant, and screamed his name, expanding her view through the skies, and, failing to find him on the surface, expanded her consciousness through underground rivers, and found him, deep beneath the earth, crying out to her. It was very clearly a trap, and the only god foolish enough to cross her like this was Amaere, her would-be lover. Knowing this, she prepared herself, and traveled through the earth to her love.
She found Setyr chained by the neck to the center of a great cavern, a silver collar and chain binding him. He was writhing in agony, twisting on the floor, crushed into human form, as the device slowly destroyed him, draining his energy into the earth itself. Behind Setyr stood Amaere, and around them both lay a circle of complicated runes. At a glance, Ma'aret saw that they held much power of slowing and holding, to keep her from simply striking out at Amaere.
"What foolish treachery is this, Amaere? Let him go, and I will be lenient with you. You know no runes will keep my wrath from you." She spoke, wearing a mask of utter calm, though it broke her heart to see Setyr suffer like this.
"You love him."Amaere spoke the words bemusedly."You truly care for this creature, and you accept him where you rejected me. I don't understand it, but I accept it."
"Then let him go, and we will be on our way." The words sounded a bit rushed, even to Ma'aret, who was transfixed by Setyr's spasming form, even as she stared into Amaere's eyes.
"Oh no, Ma'aret. I brought you here to offer you a choice. Your life, or his." Amaere's voice oozed smugness, and he even grinned, as he said this.
"Have you grown senile, Amaere? You and I cannot die! And if you kill him, I will personally make your existence a neverending nightmare. Release him, before I become truly angry." The cavern shook with the force of her wrath, and still Amaere smiled. She was worried.
"Marry him, Ma'aret, and I will let him live. Walk away, or slay me, and he will die, slowly. I have designed this trap very carefully, and if any other hand seeks to undo it, your lover will perish." The words were spoken so bluntly and dispassionately, Amaere could have been discussing the weather.
Ma'aret stood frozen. Horror washed over her in waves. She had only just begun to truly live, must she die so soon? For she knew Amaere spoke the truth. Her people could not lie. And she saw no alternative. She would not, could not let Setyr die. He was the most beautiful thing that had ever entered her life, and she would not hesitate to die for him.
"Unchain him first, you treacherous dog. And let me speak to him, without your foul presence." Ma'aret still spoke strongly, though she was shattered inside.
"I will give you one hour, Ma'aret, on your word that you will return here and wed him afterward."
The chain disappeared, but the collar remained, and Setyr collapsed to the floor, unconscious.
"I give you my word." When the last word left her lips, Ma'aret and Setyr left the cavern, teleporting to the fresh air above the ocean. Ma'aret patiently waited for Setyr to awaken, even though it took half of the hour. She spent the next 15 minutes explaining the situation they were in, and struggling to make Setyr understand her choice. Finally, they held each other until their time was up. When the last second passed, Ma'aret brought him back to the cavern. As Amaere laughed, she spoke the words that would bind her to Setyr, and then she kissed him. As their lips touched, all of her power flowed into Setyr, for Amaere had been laughing so loudly, he had not heard the words she'd changed. With Ma'aret's power, Setyr absorbed some of her consciousness, finally becoming a fully conscious being himself. As her power left her, Ma'aret faded, until she was just a wisp, and with her dying breath, she spoke a single word, and Amaere was ripped asunder. In his place, there was a tear in the fabric of that world and Setyr was pulled through, into a place of blinding light and forces tearing at him in every direction. Eventually, he fell unconscious.
Setyr awoke in the heart of a pine forest, and the portal was gone. He could feel the difference between this world and his own, and that filled him with sadness. He struggled to process what he'd been through. He'd lost his love, he lost his world, and he suddenly had the mental capacity to comprehend it. He lay on the ground, in that spot, for days, weeping, his body wracked by violent sobs, and the sky wept with him.
In time, Setyr had no tears left, and with them went his sorrow. He replaced it with a cold anger at the injustice he had suffered. He buried the horrific events of his immediate past in the back of his mind, giving himself a sort of voluntary amnesia. He left the woods, and walked until he found civilization, because, for a reason he couldn't quite remember, he was terribly lonely, and wanted to be around people. But he couldn't stand it for long, and returned to the wild. As time passed, he learned to balance his needs for companionship and solitude, but he never allowed anyone into his heart.

Re: Setir

So he's basically angry at everything? xP

This is good so far, but I'd like an explanation of Setir's race (storm spirit). And I'd like his personality to be expanded a little more (he's gotta have a soft spot in there, somewhere xP If not, you could put what calms him or makes him halt his destructive rage temporarily). And expand on his biography (a lot), as well.

I'll check back when you update! *scurries away*

Re: Setir

Holy crap, what an expansion xD Okay, so...checking over, the Personality is good. The bio is great now (just one thing, when writing so much, make sure to skip a line between paragraphs).

*Approved*

You've got a lot of potential going there. :3
