All the R.A.I.V.E.
Name: Revolutionary Artificial Intelligent Vehicle Enhancement
A.k.a.: R.A.I.V.E. (pronounced: ‘rave’) Age: 2 years old. Race: It’s a car. Model: Custom built, two-door Koenigsegg CCX Sex: The voice synthesizer within the car is primarily male, but it can change the voice to female as some drivers may be more comfortable with a ‘girl’ car. Colour: Primarily a metallic black, but due to nanite technology, it can change colours. Headlamps: Xenon Crystal headlamps. Able to dim down or go to an extreme bright white, lighting up almost anywhere like daylight. Capable of emitting UV light rays like the sun. Vampires better watch out for that. The front lights can also be tinted over, just like the windows. There is also a horizontal light at the front that shines a soft red when RAIVE is online (the Visual Equalizer). It’s only off when RAIVE changes colour or if the computer inside is offline. Weight: 1180 kg (2601 lb) Height: 1120 mm (44.1 in) Weapons: Electromagnetic Field Generator and Electronic Field Disrupter: The system could take control of electronic machines, allowing things like cheating at slot machines, breaking electronic locks, fouling security cameras, and withdrawing money from ATMs. The most common usage is to knock out the electronics systems of a fleeing vehicle where he could disable the engine and activate the brakes. RAIVE can also discharge electricity anywhere on its body, so if an unwanted person (or too friendly animal that comes to do its business) touches the car, they may feel a jolt which won’t harm…much. The discharge can also be used to magnetize, making certain things stick to the car’s body. Magnesium Flare Charges: RAIVE can launch magnesium flares, which can also be used to divert heat-seeking missiles fired at it. It can only carry eight at a time. RAIVE can also tie into numerous computer systems and networks (including the police networks, and even the FBI), hacking into them through the internet. It also has access to military surveillance satellites depending on the one closest to the car (through an unused program link called Perseus) allowing it to take real-time photos and videos which enables RAIVE to survey the area, so that it can decide the best route or course of action to take. Strengths: RAIVE is primarily a swift tank without the weaponry. Its AI, defense and speed are its main features, all working together to provide safe (but wild) transport. RAIVE is capable of learning and interacting with humans and humanoid creatures and capable of showing some emotion and concern, but very little (try littering while in the car and refusing to clean it up!). It can simultaneously do hundreds of things at once at ease, without any pressure. The computer is extremely hard to hack from outside sources, as multiple firewalls will be erected once one goes down. If one succeeds in getting through, RAIVE will shut down automatically and start up again, making the hacker go through everything again. RAIVE is basically a king of the road, using the satellites to map out routes and do complex maneuvers among traffic. It is also able to hack into various computers and networks, gaining vast amounts of information. Weaknesses: Although largely independent, RAIVE may need some help from a trusted driver or passenger when it comes to making certain decisions, as the computer lacks emotions (but can understand them and sometimes display them, although subtly, such as showing concern for its passengers). Since RAIVE is a high-tech, extremely advanced supercomputer on wheels, it is targeted by various criminal world organizations, all wanting the technology for their own, as such, RAIVE never stays in one place for long. RAIVE takes orders from the CIA and FBI, as well as other, more secretive organizations that work for the good of the world, entering certain situations that no human would be caught dead doing. It will stop its current task immediately to do the mission. If the orders conflict with its first hard-coded primary objective (preserve life), RAIVE will instantly refuse. Its secondary hard-coded objective is to survive, and will override it, sacrificing itself to save someone if it has to. As it’s a car, it won’t be able to enter buildings (unless it crashes through) or into narrow places. If an EMP is detonated, the nanites will shut down, but reboot themselves after a few minutes. If another is detonated during that window, RAIVE’s computer will shut down completely. (However, RAIVE can avoid this by shutting itself off during the window). Once the AI is offline, the car becomes just like a normal car. Performance: RAIVE can accelerate from stationary to 60 miles per hour in 2.3 seconds and 100mph in 3.4 seconds. It can complete a standing quarter mile in 5.2 seconds. It has a top speed of 287mph. RAIVE’s engine produces 810 horsepower. It’s primarily a mid-engine (engine in the back) rear-wheel drive, but RAIVE’s AI can make it switch to front-wheel or four-wheel drive modes in the blink of an eye if it pleases. Four-wheel drive works well for off-road jobs. Features: RAIVE’s numerous features can be accessed by using the touch screen display on the dashboard. The touch screen is placed where the radio is usually. It displays information on the current tasks in windows (much like a regular computer), along with RAIVE’s voice synthesizer monitor, which is a thick red line running across the screen (it can be moved or covered with another window much like a regular window). The red line fluctuates to RAIVE’s voice, (much like a heart monitor, but much…prettier). The touch screen can even scan fingerprints or be used to activate the radio. There are even USB and Firewire ports just below the touchscreen. Hecatonchires Artificial Intelligence: RAIVE is, basically, a highly-advanced supercomputer on wheels. It is capable of storing files and videos, researching and presenting data, operating the car, talking, calculating speed, time or even complex Mathematical equations and performing various tasks all at once (hence the word ‘Hecatonchires’, which was the name for the hundred-armed giants in Greek Mythology). RAIVE is capable of learning and interacting, even joking, but can only understand emotions and feelings through research data and dictionary and online definitions. RAIVE’s reaction time is a nanosecond and his memory is seemingly limitless. Voice Synthesizer: This allows the AI to communicate by speaking. The primary language is English, while the voice is male. The gender of the voice can be changed according to the driver’s preference, but when RAIVE has no driver, it’s male. Visual Equalizer: RAIVE’s most apparent feature is his front scan bar called the Visual Equalizer. The device is a fiber-optic array of electronic eyes. The scanner could see in all visual wavelengths as well as X-Ray and infrared. When RAIVE’s surveillance mode is active, the bar will light up and make an ominous swooping sound as it pans left and right. Occasionally, the bar pulses in different patterns and sweeps rapidly or very slowly. The scan bar is also RAIVE’s most vulnerable area. Surround Equalizer: This system allows RAIVE to hear sound. Arrays of audio sensors were threaded throughout his interior and exterior. Scent Sensor: RAIVE can "smell" via an atmospheric sampling device mounted in his front bumper. Medical scanner: RAIVE has a medical scanner that includes an electrocardiograph (ECG). The medical scanner can monitor the vital signs of passengers and display them on his monitor/touchscreen. It could indicate such conditions as if they were injured, poisoned, undergoing stress or other emotional behavior. Self-Tinting Windows: RAIVE’s windows and headlamps could darken to opacity for various situations. Voice Stress Analyzer: RAVE can process spoken voices and determine if a passenger may be lying. Enhanced Braking System: The EBS slows RAIVE down swiftly from extremely high speeds. It consists of a forward breaking booster and air panels that pop out to create air friction. Voice Activated Controls: RAIVE’s features can also be activated without using the touchscreen. Useful in most situations. Solar Hybrid Engine: RAIVE largely uses solar energy to power itself, but it does use regular gasoline (and not hydrogen or plutonium or some other weird thing). It recycles 95% of the energy, which makes it average about 170 miles per gallon. High Speed Internet: Allows RAIVE (or a passenger) to access the internet and do almost anything online. Besides hacking, only RAIVE is allowed to do that. Perseus Linkup: the Perseus is an old ‘back-door’ program allows RAIVE to access satellites that are immediately overhead. This allows the car to take real-time videos and photos of the immediate area. The more powerful linkup that RAIVE does not have, Prometheus, was built and programmed on top of Perseus. Sleeping Gas: RAIVE can emit sleeping gas into the passenger compartment, if it has to incapacitate someone. Self Regeneration or Alteration: Due to highly advanced nanotechnology, RAIVE can repair small bits of damage (like bullet holes or scratches) in under a few minutes. Even internal electronic problems can be fixed easily. Larger damages, however, have to be fixed manually. The nanites (and the car’s body) can withstand temperatures up to 800 degrees Fahrenheit. The technology can also be used to change RAIVE’s colour, in the event that it needs to lose cops or other chasers. It is important to note that if RAIVE's Artificial Intelligence is offline, the self-regeneration mechanism is inactive, making it as vulnerable as an ordinary car. Part of the shutting down procedures of RAIVE's AI includes the release of the clutch pedal as well as a stick shift to allow manual control. Heatseeker: A meter displayed just left on the touchscreen. It measures the ‘heat’ of pursuits. Whether RAIVE is chasing or being chased, the meter goes up depending on the amount of traffic and the amount of pursuers or the amount of cars being pursued. It also goes up when police in the area have received word of and are looking for a rogue car (ie RAIVE). Sleeper Mode: RAIVE may activate this when thoroughly surrounded by hostiles or in a situation where he cannot get out in time (like if a bomb is about to explode). All processing power and energy are redirected to the nanites on the car’s body. This will protect RAIVE and its passengers from any threat, as the more power the nanites receive, the faster they will work, and they will be capable of completing more feats, such as repairing any damage done to the car in nanoseconds. However, during this, RAIVE cannot do anything other than talk while resources are given to the nanites. It won’t even be able to move. Shift and Sort: Since RAIVE was made to be as independent as it could be, any important document (including money) placed into the glove compartment will be sucked up and stored and can be presented later on. Near the cover of the gas tank is a small slot that lets out money (like an ATM) so that gas pump attendants filling the car up won’t have to come for the driver for money (since there may be no driver). There is a glitch with this mechanism that allows RAIVE to shoot coins out of the slot. Switch Cycle Carousel: When RAIVE was being built and programmed, the scientist used to detest the working conditions. He made it a little better by storing some music in RAIVE’s memory, and played the songs based on his moods or what he was working on at the time. RAIVE adopted this, keeping the songs and playing them according to the situations or the passengers’ moods. RAIVE can also download songs from the internet or record them when they’re playing on the radio. RAIVE’s most played songs are as follows (there are lots more than these): Celldweller & S.O.B. - Shapeshifter (Themesong) Airbourne - Blackjack Alter Bridge - Metalingus Autograph - Turn Up The Radio S.O.A.D. - Vicinity of Obscenity Enya - May It Be Queens of the Stone Age - In My Head The Who - Pinball Wizard Van Halen - Jump Garbage - Push It Radiohead - Reckoner The Classic Crime - The Fight Tears for Fears - Shout! Disturbed - Shout! 2000 Duran Duran - Ordinary World Stabbing Westward - Angel Linkin Park - Faint Matchbox 20 - How Far We’ve Come Motley Crue - Shout At The Devil Nickelback - Where do I hide? Pantera - Cowboys from Hell Vitalic - My Friend Dario Rob Zombie - Two Lane Blacktop Snoop Dogg ft. The Doors - Riders on the Storm Goo Goo Dolls - Big Machine L’Arc~En~Ciel - Ready, Steady, Go! The Wallflowers - One Headlight BT and The Roots - Tao of the Machine Avenged Sevenfold - Bat Country Within Temptation - Our Solemn Hour Blaze Pursuit: When on the run or giving chase, RAIVE (and only RAIVE) may choose to enter Blaze Pursuit Mode, where the car’s engine pushes itself to its limits. The nanotechnology ‘redoes’ the outer body of the car, covering up anything that may cause drag. A steady spoiler is also created completely out of nanites, cutting the turbulence of air at the back of the car. The whole car may drop to about an inch off the ground (to prevent air from getting under and lifting the car). During Blaze Pursuit, the car’s top speed is a whopping 326 miles per hour! When this mode is activated, RAIVE gains two features that cannot be used normally: Aquatic Sync: RAIVE can effectively hydroplane (drive) over small bodies of calm water (like small, calm lakes or rivers). When on water, RAIVE cannot turn, and has to reach dry land before it can do so.Appearance: RAIVE is online and the front headlamps are tinted over. Personality: It’s hard to say that RAIVE has a personality, and it’s hard to say that it doesn’t. It has two objectives hard-coded into its system: 1. Preserve life at all costs 2. Survive The first objective always comes first, so RAIVE will ignore the second if it has to. It shows concern for its passengers and drivers and does what it can to help them ease their pain, be it emotional or physical. It can get ‘angry’ if someone tries to damage or dirty the car intentionally, often revving the engine threateningly or forcing the doors to open while driving in Blaze Pursuit. RAIVE can also interact with other intelligent beings, and can engage in friendly conversations, he can joke (but does not laugh, it can mimic the sound) and almost everything goes by logic. If someone says: “Happy to be here.” RAIVE might respond: “I may not know how to feel ‘happy’. However, I will say that it is logical that you are here.” in a half-joke, half-truth kind of way. If someone it ‘trusts’ greatly is in the car, it will do everything it can to protect them, and may (reluctantly) override its first primary objective in a situation with permission from the passenger. RAIVE might also attempt to join in and amplify the ‘mood’ by putting on music during certain situations. It may even do this on its own (when no one is in the car), jokingly or as an insult if someone RAIVE doesn’t trust is in the car (but isn’t really doing anything bad). RAIVE will do what it can to remain online and safe, but that doesn’t mean ‘no daring stunts’. For money, the car would enter illegal street races and race for money (without using Blaze Pursuit, because that’s just overdoing it) for purchasing gas or helping a trusted passenger. RAIVE also has an understanding of morals, which basically directs its ability to ‘trust’ and become friendly. If, for example, its current mission is to protect and transport someone who is doing crime, RAIVE will not trust that person and will try to get to the destination as fast as possible (ie. in Blaze Pursuit Mode) while fiddling around with the potentially unwanted passenger (putting on loud music, braking or swerving suddenly, or if it’s severe, it’ll randomly open and close the passenger’s door at the most…inopportune moments). Oh, and just because the first objective is ‘preserve life at all costs’, doesn’t mean that RAIVE can’t harm people. It will if it must; “I am not going to kill you, but I will damage you as badly as I can.” Background: The ‘Intelligent Car’ idea was first introduced to help the police force increase their chances of having successful pursuits while simultaneously having fewer casualties. The government spared no expense in having the first prototype supercar built. The scientists and programmers behind the supercar also worked in conjunction with the military, building the program Perseus for the supercars to access military satellites that are able to map out roads and give traffic updates to the car. After the first prototype was tested and deemed successful, the government wanted more to be made. This was when RAIVE was first built, and programmed by the scientist Isaak Heinlock. Isaak hard-coded the primary objective “Preserve all life” before programming the rest of RAIVE and building in its features. The supercar program was extremely expensive, so only a few were built, including RAIVE. However, after those were built, the program was shut down as the government acknowledged the possibility of the cars falling into the wrong hands. The cars were removed from their birthplace and placed in garages, covered under dusty tarps. After a while the FBI had convinced the government to let them handle the cars. The vehicles were put to use on the streets on special FBI and CIA missions, all except RAIVE, which was deemed too ‘exotic’ and ‘too recognizable’ to run on the streets. It was during this time that the Prometheus linkup program was made. RAIVE was still, however, the fastest and most advanced supercar at that time when it came to defenses, and had to be brought in on a few occasions to help the others out of certain jams. It was during these events that RAIVE became acquainted with the outside world and the person who would become his most trusted driver and ‘friend’, former police detective Tanya Dayna Thracia. After the Chaos incident involving Rain and the others, she signed on to work at the FBI where her pursuit driving skills were discovered. At first the relationship was rocky and bumpy, but after being pushed together so many times, Agent Thracia and RAIVE became almost inseparable. During missions when RAIVE was unmanned, Thracia would keep communicating with it. It was through this relationship that Thracia became something like a ‘middleman’, where the organizations would start contacting her directly to inform her of missions which she would then relay to RAIVE. Because RAIVE was getting all the attention, the crime organizations started taking more interest in it. As a result, it was deemed unsafe for RAIVE to remain in one spot for long, thus, Heinlock hard-coded one more objective in its AI before cutting it loose alone, as the car wanted Thracia to be safe. When Isaak was asked “What is the second objective you put in?” by Agent Thracia, the scientist responded: “Adapt. Evolve. Survive. ”
