Fatalis

Name: Fatalis

Age: 18
Race: Sheikah
Gender: Male

Hair: Very short, about an inch long, silverish white hair.
Eyes: Crimson red
Weight: 11 Stone
Height: 6'1''

Weapon: Nihil, a two-handed blade, forged from a mythril/gold composite. It is similar in design and weight to a traditional Ōtachi sword, around 3.5 feet in length. It's blade displays golden to silver colour banding as a results of the metals used. The hilt is made from polished wolfos bone, giving it an ivoryesque quality. Due to it's immense length and weight, the blade must be sheathed in a Saya (scabbard) worn across Fatalis' back when not in combat.

The blade had been considered lost, after the warrior wielding the blade dissapeared, though it was recently rediscovered by Fatalis.

At any rate, this does nothing to diminish the razor-sharp quality of the blade.

Armor: A suit of lightweight plate armour, made from a thin but sturdy layer of iron, enchanted and binded with the ethereal cloak of a Gomess. The result of this binding process is that, as opposed to the grey colouration expected of iron, the armour is unfathomobly dark, aiding stealth.

Strengths: Natural reflexes are above that of a human. Rigorous training in traditional sheikah martial styles has further increased his strength, dexterity and alacrity. He is able to leap very far, and is naturally acrobatic, a trait shared with the Sheikah in general. In areas of darkness, his speed and dexterity are increased dramatically as he can draw power from the shadows to aid his natural abilities. He can also wield dark magicks to an extent, though he is by no means proficient in this field, as it is a natural ability and not a trained one. Given his training in armed combat, and personal practice with his own weapon, Fatalis is not easily fatigued by the weight of his sword, although it can have detrimental effects if wielded in battle for extended durations of time.

Weakness: Light magicks run contrary to the natural essence of the Sheikah, being that light represents the dispelling of shadows, the source from which the Sheikah are believed to draw their energy. As such, Fatalis has a weakness to many types of Light Magicks (e.g the type of energy/magick released by a Light Arrow). The size and weight of his sword, while not decreasing his dexterity, prevents him from carrying a shield, which is a considerable defensive weakness. His occasionally hot-headed nature can lead him into making rash decisions on the spur of the moment.

Skills/Magic: Minor natural ability to control Dark Magicks. No attempt has been made to harness or control them. The little dark magicks he can wield is generally of a passive (e.g. self-enhancing), rather than agressive or destructive manner.

Appearance: Fatalis is of a wirey, though muscular build. His crimson eyes paired with a naturally stern face make him appear more agressive than is generally the case. He prefers to keep his silverish/white hair trimmed very short, for utilitarian reasons. Generally, he wears a suit of black-coloured plate armour, and is never seen without Nihil, his sword

Personality: Fatalis is a battle-hardened warrior, even by the age of 18, and so he surveys most issues with the logic and sensibilities of someone who is used to making life-or-death decisions on a regular basis. However, in the heat of battle he can become hot-headed and this can lead to rash decisions and aggresive behavior. He possesses a keen intelect and spends much time alone, thinking. This can sometimes be misinterpreted as standoffishness or a surly attittude and as a result, Fatalis tends to prefer his own company. He also has a strong sense of loyalty.

Biography: Fatalis never knew his mother or father. From the day he was born, he was entrusted to the care of a Sheikah monk living an ascetic life in the hills of Death Mountain. His parents being hunted by various different factions amongst their own people, they decided it was wise to completely sever all ties with Fatalis to protect him from the fate they knew would one day catch up with them.

As the years passed and Fatalis grew older, the monk began training Fatalis in various fighting styles utilised by the Sheikah, including armed and unarmed contact. Fatalis took to his training earnestly, knowing he would one day like to become a masterful warrior. He fantasized about the legends and tales that would be told of his exploits long after his own demise. To his mind, there was no greater wealth than this.

After 10 years of strenuous training drills and combat practice, Fatalis now being 15, the monk informed him that there was nothing left that he could teach him. The rest would be learnt by experience of the world.

Fatalis set off, ready to meet the strife and hardships of life head on.

Altogether a very nice character, if a mite unoriginal. He is a little bit too strong however.

Weaknesses - He needs a few more of these, not including the hot-headedness exhibited in his personality that I would like you to add.

Nihil - I'm afraid his sword is also too strong. You have two choices with this: keep the abnormal strength while toning down on his speed; or vice versa - portray him as a sleek and swift assassin whose speed makes up for his shortcomings in strength. Both of them make Fatalis an absolute killing machine. Also explain why Nihil doesn't slow Fatalis down. It all seems quite illogical.

I will edit it soon in light of this.

I'm not bellyaching, but I don't really see what you mean. I suppose it might be a case of my idea and my writing diverging at some point, but I didn't really envision him as being particularly strong. In fact, keeping that in mind, I didn't even bother going into much detail about magical powers etc that would make him seem godly or anything like that.

I'm not really sure how you guaged the strength of the sword considering it's not like I've rp'ed as the character and tried to destroy an entire legion of blah blah blah with one swipe, or decapitate such and such without breaking a sweat. I think there might be a slight difference between a good description, and me trying to make it the ultimate weapon, the former being my intention.

Also, when I look at some approved characters below me, I notice some of them, no names mentioned, have far more powerful and outlandish abilities than I allowed my character.

Not ranting here by the way, just trying to defend my viewpoint

And I respect your opinion.

They give people the feeling that Fatalis glides silently through the night with an almighty sword that slices through anything. Put simply, in a sheer combat fight your character would have a huge advantage over the other, since most people either choose speed or strength.

But I see what you mean about other characters being far more powerful. I can safely say that Winona would obliterate Fatalis, although she is in the 'super strong' category. Trust me though, Fatalis is too weak for some of the world-rending giants you'll find here, and too strong for the realistic characters amongst us.

Yep the razor-sharp quote came back to haunt me when I looked back over it to edit. I'm just trying to think of some more weaknesses that are relevant (i.e. no point saying I'm allergic to peppermint) without being too easily taken advantage of.

There wasn't too much wrong with the character, so I'm happy to say that he's approved as long as you actually reference his hot-headedness and rash decisions in battle.

<~Approved~>

Go check out the Battle School if you like. Your writing is good, but everyone likes to improve.
