My first character yay!
Name: Nathan Kahaeda
Age: 17 Race: Human Sex: Male Hair: Brown, borderline black, not long but shaggy and never tidy Eyes: gray Weight: 170 lbs Height: 5' 11'' Weapons: Iron Quarterstaff Armor/ Clothing: A shirt cut short, silk pants that are tucked into cuffed boots and leather gauntlets resistant to blades. Magic - After Image: Allows him to duplicate images for several seconds every time he moves to disorient his opponents Abilities: Although he may seem like an average fighter, Nathan is rather agile for his age, and is incredibly quick to hit and dodge. He combines this ability with his quarter staff to deal quick blows in astounding combinations. He is also rather silent for his speed, and has the ability to run through known territory without a sound Strengths: His agility, his silence, his keen sense of smell Weaknesses: Even with his agile body, he never takes the time to build up his muscle strength, resulting in a slightly below average strength, and although his speed compensates for this, many blows to his body result in fatality. Anyone faster than him is lethal especially. Appearance: Because of his lack of strength, Nathan is not very imposing fighter. His raggedy clothing give him the appearance of naught but a commoner. His eyebrows are always slanted very slightly and his eyes are nearly squinted giving him an irritated demeanor. He can be very friendly, and doesn't like to stand out much which means he is often at the back of a crowd observing, although if anyone sees him fighting he is a very memorable figure. His hair if very shaggy and untidy, and often hangsd in front of his face. It is a stlye he prefers though it does get in the way of combat occasionally. Personality: Very shy, although he does like to help. He doesn't like to kill, though he will, if the situation demanded it, he wouldn't hesitate. He is aware of his lack of strength and doesn't like to pick fights he cannot win for fear that his weakness would be exploited or he underestimated his opponent. Nathan stands firmly in front of the things he loves though, and would rather trade his life for his friends safety, however, he can be analytical if the situation risks nothing and will only fight if there is no way out of it. Bio: Nathan's story begins with an epic battle, one that is about to take the only remains of things dear to him. His whole life with be thrown into confusion over a petty dispute of land and wealth, and is about to watch his town of Sahkay be utterly overwhelmed. High upon the ramparts, Nathan could observe the preparations his village was making. There had been rumors spreading throughout the village all day, a peasant had observed that a soldier had came through the gate seeming quite distressed and they had assumed there would be a battle. Or a war. Apparently the generals had assumed so too, for on the adjacent tower, Nathan could observe the meeting. They had ordered everyone to the rear of the town, and the children that had once played in the streets were now replaced by soldiers weilding partisans. Nathan had not retreated like the rest, he was going to fight. A vast expanse of plain was laid before the town, it extended all the way until it met the forest that it bordered. Behind it was a long mountain range that extended farther than anyone dare walk on either side, the reason the villager were sent to the back was that this was their fallback point should a war start. The ramparts were high, and he could see the crowd of peasants in the rear. A wind heavy with the smell of iron rushed past. They would be here soon. Nathan closed his eyes and sighed attempting to drain the stress from his mind... "Nathan!" Nathan's eyes snapped open and he glanced about for the person that had called his name. He looked to his left to see a woman clad in armor striding towards him. Her hair was long and silky black, and her height was that of Nathan,s. Her body was slim, and she was not very imposing at first, but underneath the armor he knew that she was fast and very powerful weilding any weapon. The eyes were soft and she did not seem like her clad in the armor. Her helmet was tucked underneath he arm and she smiled warmly at him, which made him smile as he greeted her "Good evening Haerin, is the war meeting over already?" Haerin frowned, "Shouldn't you be with the rest of the town in preparation for retreat." Nathan shook his head, "No, I am going to stay and fight. I have no family left, and my friends are with the other townsman. I have to protect them one way or another. Now answer the question." Haerin nodded in reply before she added " Yes, we've decided to bring out the main army in front of the castle and position the archers atop the ramparts and wall," she gestured a wide arc with her whole arm in the plains. " Standard formation. The scout was positive that the enemy army was directed towards our town of Sahkay." "Numbers?" Nathan asked, cocking an eyebrow. She shook her head, "They were camped in the forest, he couldn't get a positive on numbers. But he can assume that it was a massive army." Nathan gripped his staff tight. His first battle would be a massive one. He would be looking forward to it...or was he? Haerin observed the staff, "You'll be weilding that into battle? Shouldn't you at least be weilding a spear?" Nathan nodded, "If you've seen me fight, you'd be surprised what I could to with it." She shrugged before she began to dismiss herself but it was drowned out by the cry of a soldier below "Lady Haerin! On the horizon!" Both of them directed their attention to the forest, what they saw made both their hearts skip a beat. The army was on the horizon with armor glinting in torchlight. The line that they were assembled in was massive, and their formation was much larger. Nathan froze. He grew cold and his knuckles turned white as he gripped his staff so tight he thought he dented it. Haerin sighed, and shouted her reply, "Tell the main army to assemble in front of the gates now, warn the generals and rally the archers!" she faced Nathan, "You, return to the townsman, you must lead them into the mountains. Their army is massive and trying to direct the troops with the villagers would be a hapless task. We must buy you time, we won't be able to spare a single man or general." Nathan became suddenly hostile, he wasn't about to run away from his first battle, "I won't run away! You know I couldn't turn my back on you!" Haerin replied rather gently, "I understand that," she placed a hand on his shoulder, "Listen to me, you must lead them to safety. Their army is much greater than our own, and their weapons are probably forged sturdier. We won't win." She grimaced, "But you can." Nathan nodded, "I understand," he embraced her, "You've been like a sister to me Haerin. Please don't die." "I''ll come to see you can everyone again someday, we will not falter until you are safe." they broke apart and she looked at him one last time, "Go!" By the time Nathan reached the top of the mountain, he could observe the town from that height and was astounded by what he saw. From this angle he could see that the army was nearly the size of the plain, and flooded well into the forest. Sahkay's grand army was slightly more that a quarter of that. He could see seven figure ride out to greet them. The seven generals of Sahkay. Haerin would be counted among them. All the villagers that could spectate gasp, and murmurs coursed to the rear as the villagers relayed the information back. Nathan twitched. He was about to lose all that was dear to him. The generals rode along the line and he could hear the commands as they all barked orders to the soldiers. They all gave a loud cheer as they were rallied to their deaths. Every last soldier raised his blade and charged, seven figures leading them into the fray. The enemy army responded in kind. Nathan watched helplessly as they were engulfed in the wave that was their opponents, and watched as the only real family he had left was swallowed. He shed a single tear that dropped down the side of the mountain. Everyone behind him began to sob bitterly. Nathan joined them. |
