Reyn
This is probably my best character yet. I'm very proud of her. *grins*
Name: Reyn Gender: Female Age: Unknown Species: Unknown Height: 6’1” Weight: 140 lbs. Hair color: Navy blue with silver streaks Eye color: The deepest blue Weapons: Sterren – Astral sword infused with the power of the cosmos. It has a 3-foot, curved blade that has stars, moons, and other stellar bodies etched into it. The hilt is made of pure silver and has a diamond embedded in the pommel. Manen – Sterren’s twin Diamant – Double-bladed astral sword formed by the fusion of Sterren and Manen. The blades still retain the original characteristics of Sterren and Manen, the only difference being the color change of the weapon from silver to golden. Appearance: Earthly form – While on Earth, Reyn has shoulder-length hair and a slightly tan complexion. She dresses like a typical earthly teenager, which usually means just blue jeans, a t-shirt, and tennis shoes. The only thing that marks her as unearthly (besides her twin swords that she has strapped to her back) is the silver half-moon pendant she wears on a silver chain around her neck. Reyn does not yet know what powers lie sealed within the pendant; she just knows that she was born wearing it. Astral Form – Reyn’s astral form is extremely different from her earthly one. Her hair becomes extremely long, about her body height, and she wears it tied back with a navy blue ribbon. She also gains a pair of shimmering wings crafted of only the purest light (like faerie wings ^^). Her clothes change from normal teenage clothes to deep navy blue pants and sleeveless shirt with a sheer, silvery, sleeveless dress over them, but the dress is more for show than anything else. Her skin also becomes considerably paler, almost white. But the most prominent and striking feature of Reyn’s astral form is the brilliant, golden star emblazoned on her forehead, which has mysterious powers that even Reyn herself doesn’t know. Just a side note: Reyn can shift into her astral form on Earth, but she cannot stay in it for very long. A side effect of Earth on her astral form is massive energy loss. Personality: Very quiet and introverted, Reyn has a tendency to lapse into deep thought even in the midst of battle. She usually keeps a tight control over her emotions, but when she does lose control, traumatic things can happen to herself as well as to her opponents. Her most burdening concerns are usually her brother, Ryen’s, whereabouts and actions . History: The cosmos. A vastness that stretches on to infinity. A great, black void decorated with shining pinpoints of light called stars, around which revolve planets and their moons. The astral bodies flow gracefully in their great dance across Time, a perfectly balanced symphony of harmony and order. Within a corner of this magnificent universe, two stars that have reached the culmination of their dance move slowly toward each other, attracted by their unbalanced gravitational forces. They are both content and at peace with their imminent demise, for they know that new life will spring from the ashes of their destruction. Nearer and nearer they come, the space around them both practically pulsing with the energy emanating from the two heavenly bodies. Finally, they collide and, in their ensuing implosion, two tiny ovules of light are formed. Time moves on, heeding not the two specks of life slowly developing through the ages. She trails her fingers through the universe, stirring and encouraging the cosmic bodies and keeping them flowing in their dance. And then, unbeknownst to Time, she briefly touches the two floating ovules. Light erupts from them, ripping apart the thin membrane of light and allowing the two newborn astral beings to slip free. * * * * * And thus, the astral twins, Reyn and Ryen, were born, the twins fated to shake the very foundations of the universe. They emerged from their cocoons of light wearing a half-moon pendant that complimented the other’s, and on these pendants were engraved their names. The moment they saw each other, a bond immediately formed; they instinctively knew they were siblings. Ryen was always very protective of Reyn and never let her stray far from his sight. Together, they wandered through the universe, fearing nothing. Why should they when they’d never known fear? They admired the beauty of the cosmos, their beloved home, and grew closer and closer as siblings. And then, one day, they happened upon a little planet called Earth. The two of them hovered far above Earth, contemplating what to do, for they sensed other life forms on the planet. Never before had they encountered other life. After much thought, Ryen reluctantly told Reyn to wait for him while he descended to Earth to make sure it was safe. Reyn agreed and watched her brother’s form fade through Earth’s atmosphere. Years passed, yet they seemed like only minutes to Reyn. She began to worry; Ryen had not returned. For the first time, Reyn began to experience fear; its icy grip clamped onto her entire being and refused to let go. She was torn between the desire to obey her brother’s instructions and the fear for her brother’s safety. Giving in to the fear, Reyn went to Earth to search for Ryen. * * * * * She plunged through the atmosphere, the air rushing past her. It was such an exhilarating feeling that Reyn didn’t notice her energy loss until it was too late. Her breath seemed to freeze in her lungs and her heart rate increased rapidly until her strength gave out. Tumbling through the air at an incredible speed, Reyn smashed into a bare patch of ground and lay there unmoving. After a few hours had passed, Reyn groaned and opened her eyes. A figure was moving toward her. Reyn’s eyes widened in disbelief, and she gasped. It was Ryen. Yet Reyn sensed something was…wrong about him. He seemed…dark and menacing; he was not smiling. And the star on his forehead… It was black. Weak as she was, Reyn couldn’t stand; she couldn’t even sit up. Her brother reached her side and knelt down to take her hand in his own. With his other hand, he gently stroked her head. Reyn breathed a question. “Ryen, how is it that you are able to move about normally? I can barely function.” Ryen smiled, but the smile never reached his eyes which remained cold. “Reyn, my sister, I know of a way to withstand the harsh conditions of this planet. Come with me. I know someone who can help you.” Reyn's eyes narrowed slightly. His voice...there was something...not right about it. She tried to keep him talking. “And who is this someone that can help me?” For some reason unknown to Reyn, she could feel a raging ardor emanating from her brother greater than any she’d ever felt before. His voice spoke a name with reverence and adoration. “Lucifer.” Something deep within Reyn screamed that this Lucifer Ryen spoke of was pure evil. She attempted to somehow move away from Ryen, but her weakness prevented her from doing so. “No, Ryen. I don’t want anything to do with this Lucifer. I just want to go back home and live like we always have.” Ryen laughed, a deep, evil chuckle. “No, Reyn. You’re wrong. Lucifer is everything, and you are going to meet him right now!” Gripping her wrist painfully, Ryen dragged Reyn directly into the earth. Down, down, down they descended, the heat becoming more apparent the farther they went. Fire and sulfur swirled everywhere, irritating Reyn’s air passageways and causing her to cough uncontrollably. Ryen took her deeper, through the different circles of Hell, and the whole way, Reyn screamed in between her sporadic fits of coughing. The screams of the tortured souls assaulted Reyn’s ears, and the images of roaring, cackling, jeering demons assailed her eyes. The smell of blood and rotting corpses hung heavily over everything. It was a nightmare. Ryen’s grip was like iron; Reyn could not break free no matter what she did. She shut her eyes against her surroundings, and a single tear rolled down her cheek. How could this be happening? After what seemed like an eternity, Ryen stopped and dropped Reyn onto the warm, stone floor of… “Cocytus. Here is where Lucifer resides. He comes.” But before Reyn ever saw the Deceiver, she screamed, louder and longer than any of her previous ones, and a blinding light burst forth from the star on her forehead. Nearby demons fled in terror; they feared that the entire Host of Heaven had invaded. As Reyn continued to scream, the light bathed her body and took her out of Hell. * * * * * When she awoke, Reyn found herself in a field of golden sunflowers. She stood up and found that, because of her height, she could easily see over the splendid petals. She also noticed that she could breathe normally now and that her appearance was greatly changed. She no longer had her majestic wings, her long, glorious hair, or the curious, golden star on her forehead. Her skin color was much darker, and her clothing was drastically different, though she felt comfortable in it. She put a hand to her neck and found, to her relief, that she still possessed her half-moon pendant. As she stood there fingering it pensively, something descended from the sky…something that had the look of an astral being. The thing landed across from her and stared into her deep blue eyes compassionately. Silence reigned for a few moments before the newcomer spoke. “Peace be with you, Reyn Starchild! I am Gabriel, an angel of the Lord Most High, Jehovah. He knows what you have just been through, and He wishes to help you. You, Reyn, can have a chance for a new life serving the Lord if only you will accept His gracious offer. Your brother, I fear…is beyond help. He willing gave his soul to the Serpent.” Reyn listened half-heartedly to Gabriel’s speech until he mentioned her brother selling his soul. Emotion welled up within her, and she allowed it to overwhelm her. “Jehovah. The Most High. He offers help, does He?” Reyn clenched her fists tightly at her sides and trembled with anger, rage, and sadness. “Where was He when my brother relinquished his soul?! Where was He when my brother dragged me into Hell so I could do the same?! Where was He…?” She trailed off and suddenly collapsed to her knees, tears streaming down her face. Her entire body shook with sobs. She threw back her head, causing tears to fly everywhere, and screamed. “OH, RYEN!!!! WHY???!!!” She put her face on the ground and dug her fingers into the moist dirt, whispering between sobs. “Why, Ryen? Why? Ryen…Ryen…” Gabriel attempted to comfort Reyn. “Reyn, God can—” “SHUT UP!!!” Reyn shook with indignation as she fixed her now puffy and reddened eyes on the angel. “I don’t care about you, God, Lucifer, good, evil, any of it! All I care about is my brother! And no one is going to stop me from getting him back!” Gabriel only nodded once in resignation and faded away. Barely a moment after the angel had left, Reyn’s pendant glowed and two twin swords materialized in her hands. As if she had known them all her long life, she called them by name. “Sterren and Manen, I will use you and my astral powers to find my brother.” She paused and took a deep breath. “I will find you, Ryen, and when I do, you’d better be ready!” * * * * * From that moment on, Reyn wandered the universe in search of Ryen, her brother. She was never really sure what she would do when she finally found him. The only thing that matters to her is the finding. What occurs after will happen as it happens.
