Kode, Aurora's little brother
"On the day of the child's birth, All shall be rent asunder; the very Earth shall feel the mothers travail. Life shall no longer find comfort, nor healing and those who know It shall feel the agony of Its dissonance"
Excerpt from The Prophecy 1st scroll, 5th chapter, 20th verse Name: Kode (pronounced: koh-day) Age: 16 Birthday: 5/20 New Era Year 389 Hair color: light brown Eye color: blue Height: 5'10" Weight: 180 lbs. Weapon: The spirit sword, Zenryu - Given to him by Aurora (another of my characters), Zenryu chooses one master from each generation and changes its shape to suit its current wielder. Kode's version is a two-handed, black broadsword handle with a clear glowing pommelstone, and a handguard of four upward-sweeping, silver dragon claws. Beneath the handguard, is a narrow collar holding four elemental stones (fire, water, wind, and earth) each held in place by a fine latticework of silver. When not in use, the spirit sword is only a hilt, but when called upon, it produces a giant blade consisting of an element chosen by its wielder. Armor: None Strenghts: Tremendous chi power, skilled swordsman, trained in hand-to-hand combat by his adopted sister Aurora, and tutored in magic by Rruuv, the giant wolf summon (hopefully to be introed and approved later). Zenryu will obey only him. Weaknesses: While possesing great natural talent and power, Kode is still an apprentice. He has limited stamina using magic, although the spirit sword allows for some conservation of energy. Cannont use elemental magic without the use of elemental stones. Personality: Friendly, opinionated (frequently to the point of bull-headedness), easygoing overall, but with a hot temper if provoked. Although good hearted, Kode tends to hold grudges. Appearance: Brownish colored apprentice cloak with hood, blue shirt, brown pants, and heavy brown leather travelling boots. His spirit sword hangs by a loop to a sturdy leather belt. History: Kode was born in a quiet mountain village named Cedarvale. His father Strider was a member of the village counsil, and his mother Kayko the beautiful village healer. They were good people, well known and loved by the entire village. The happy couple had tried to have a child for several years, so when Kayko finally became pregnant, all of Cedarvale rejoiced with them. About two months before Kayko was due to deliver, Aurora came to Cedarvale looking for the child spoken of in the Prophecy. The summoner knew from her studies that the time was close and the region where the child would be born, but not precisely where or to whom. As she passed through the village, Aurora met Kayko and the Ominae was intrigued by the lovely middle aged woman. By the end of the day, the two were fast friends, and the longer the two women talked, the more certain Aurora became that Kayko's child might indeed be the one she sought. That evening, Aurora told Kayko and Strider of her suspicions about their child. She told them she had more villages to visit in order to be sure, but she would be back to see their baby soon after its birth. She also expressed her concern that if she was right, there would be those bent on destroying the child. Before she left the village, she warned Kayko to protect the child at all costs. Two months passed, and Aurora found other no other real possibilities, so she turned again toward the mountain village of Cedarvale. She prayed that she would arrive in time to keep the small family safe. Two days into her journey, Aurora collapsed with a scream of agony. She was unconcious for three days. Later, she would discover that every person with chi talent was also mysteriously struck down at the same time due to a singular anomaly later named “The Divergence”. The severity of their ailments ranged from Aurora’s three day coma to severe migraines, based on the person’s level of power. When the summoner finally awoke, Valron informed her of what had happened, and fearing the worst, the pair flew off at top speed toward Cedarvale. They were too late. The entire village had been annihilated. It was nothing more than a smoldering, flat ring of ash. Just as she was turning to leave, she detected a very faint life. After a near frantic search, she found a baby boy in what was once Kayko and Strider’s cellar. Kayko had taken great pains to protect her child from whatever had destroyed the village. She also left a short note for Aurora, expressing her faith that the Ominae would find her newborn son, Kode, and protect him, pleading with her to make sure he would grow to be strong and good. Honoring a mother’s last plea and under Mage Silverhawk’s advisement, Aurora took the infant in, raising him herself. To avoid trouble, so Kode could have a normal childhood, Aurora retreated to hide with the boy in the village of Greenvale, locking the bulk of her power deep within. She posed as a lower-class water summoner, and raised Kode as her younger brother. The only lies she allowed in his life concerned her. She told him of his parents, his village, and eventually, what had become of them all. When he decided to take the quest to become a summoner himself at a tender age, she began training him in swordsmanship and hand-to-hand combat, to prepare him for the journey. On his sixteenth birthday, Kode began his summoner’s quest as Aurora’s apprentice. Along the way, he received the spirit sword, Zenryu, from Aurora. They joined with old and new allies, including Rruuv, the giant wolf, who tutored Kode in magic, and summoners from the temples. All to prepare him for a shared destiny the Ominae barely understood and the apprentice summoner knew nothing of.
