Basil, Deity of Yuzhno-Karafuto

NAME: Basil (Holder of the Title Deity of Yuzhno-Karafuto)

AGE: (Exact Age Uncertain) Basil, holding the title of Deity is granted a great span of life (The Title also signifies Position) and since his recognition as Deity, has lost count himself. However, Basil appears youthful (19-21) and it is estimated he is long past 100.

RACE: Deity, serving as a Position and Title, it is debatable if Deity itself can be considered a seperate race. To be a Deity, it is considered an enlightened state of being human, with it coming a varying amount of abilities and feats. There are currently three classes of Deities: Low Deities are the most numerous but often hold small positions as warriors and administrators. High Deities are grand warriors, considered enlightened individuals and serving adminstrative functions in their respective cities, there are only four who hold the position of which Basil is amongst them. The Writer is the final deity, considered the leader and the most enlightened of all; the name 'Writer' refers to the current Deities position as a Cronicler. There is only one Writer, and he is known to have been a teacher to the High Deities. (Sorry For The Lengthy Description)

SEX: Male. However, some have been confused as it is noted he has some feminine qualities to him (The characters design was inspired by a Guilty Gears character named Bridget! Google it and you'll understand!)

HAIR: Blonde, most of it is hidden under a headdress (the final character design inspired from Bridget) that carries the Yuzhno-Karafuto Emblem, a Yin-Yang with a drop of water. His hair hangs down around the ears, is somewhat short along the back and lingers in front of the eyes.

EYES: Are noted as being somewhat pupil-less, are a light blue color that tend to wanger then concentrate, as though he is somewhat detached, dreamy and blockheaded, his proneness to day dream is betrayed by his eyes.

WEIGHT: 158 lbs. (Plus, some weight is added by the Deities garb, mostly the footwear but that will be explained shortly)

HEIGHT: 6'1'' (As before, the choice of garb adds to his stature)

WEAPONS: Basil, while carrying little visible weaponry, does in fact carry a good bit of items for battle, amongst them:

- - - DELUGE SHORT BLADES - - -

Twin short blades, forged only in Yuzhno-Karafto (City of Deluge) with superb steel and even more magnificant methods. The forgers of Yuzhno-Karafuto make a very flexible steel, able to withstand high temperatures, and though its form may be twisted in combat it takes minimal work to reform its shape. The blades serve Basil's fighting tendancies, getting in close quickly and inflicting injury after injury until it comes he must retreat. Rapid assualt is their main use, a use not gone wasted.

- - - ACID FLASK - - -

A gift from fellow High Deity, Hayao Nakaki, the Acid Flask is a vicious weapon and certainly one of a kind. The Flask is filled with an incredibly corrosive acid, capable of eating away at armor and flesh given time; the acid is released by pressing the lower part of the Flask, which releases the acid, which lingers in the air in a somewhat mist like form that is slow to disperse. The Acid Flask serves as a great offense and defense, able to push an enemy to where Basil wants them or to buy some time and breathing space. Avoidance at all cost is advised.

- - - WATER BOMB - - -

Yet another gift from a fellow High Deity, this time coming from close compatriot Faruk, Prophet of Sands. An expert in the use of artillery, explosives, incendaries, and explosives, the Water Bomb is a unique weapon, being the size of a small grenade and working on basics of both explosives and magic. The resulting explosion is small, but still enough to blow your leg off should you stupidly linger near it, but the Bomb's main aspect is that in the explosion, the immediate area is coated in a thick layer of mist, that can be replensing from Basil and a hinderance to others. The mist won't last long but the immediate surprise generated can stir a turning tide in Basil's favor.

ARMOR: In terms of armor, the Deity of Yuzhno-Karafuto goes light, but does maintain a small amount of armor able to hold up in battle.

- - - SERPENT'S SKIN - - -

Amongst Basil's great feats is the defeat of the Great Serpent that threatened to destroy Yuzhno-Karafuto and all water bound cities. Basil defeated the beast and took some of its scales with him. Though not forming full body armor, his garb is covered at important parts by the Serpent's scales. The scales are incredibly durable , and the best part is they are light so they may be used with Basil's quick beat battle strategies.

- - - YUZHNO-KARAFUTO SHOES - - -

The shoes of Yuzhno-Karafuto are well known for being unique to the region. Yuzhno-Karafuto, is a city where the rain never stops, and it always seems the roads are flooded, at the worst of times up to the wait. To counter this flurry of water, the Yuzhno-Karafuto Shoes are brimmed with heavy steel, allowing them to remain afoot in the current. The shoes also served to protect the feet, and a well aimed kick can break bones or kill. Basil is able to maintain great speed even with these heavy shoes on.

STRENGTHS: In his arsenal of strengths, Basil works with his wit and his seemingly endless amount of energy.

Basil is eccentric, wild and hyper. He is quick and uses his speed and agility to its utmost; able to get in close and strike rapidly. But more disnerving is his conduct in battle; he has an aura of calm, and further more, vividness and fun. He loves to converse in battle, though he spouts randomness at points and quieries other times, he shows his strength well and his eccentricness better.

Basil also operates on a somewhat psycological level; able to disnerve or confuse his enemies. Perhaps this is more to do with his personality though; his wildness and conversing can off balance some, simplistic and childish, it usually does its job in stirring up confusion in the enemy and Basil takes great pleasure when he can trick the enemy into falling in with his almost idiotic tendancies *Paper**Rock**Sci...* *WAIT A MINUTE!*

WEAKNESSES: Just as he is strong, he is also capable of mistakes and carries with him a great deal of weaknesses.

In battle, perhaps amongst his greatest weaknesses is coming against an enemy of strong fortitude and defece. Basil has a 'Knuckles on Wall' syndrome as he will bloody himself on the defences. A long fight might see him wandering off into daydreaming, which may open his own defences.

Basil also relies more upon the blades then his magic or other weapons (Acid Flask, Water Bomb) and will get in close for his attacks.

One final note is Basil's preferences of battle; he fends best on rainy or cloudy days, but ironically a sunny day is bad for him... While not a sincere weaknesses, people of Yuzhno-Karafuto and the surronding region are noted for being slightly pale and burning easily in the sun. Basil hates prolonged battles in the sun as its burns, and at times should the enemy seem more prone to defence and hold and its a sunny day, Basil will see little reason to stay and will rather withdraw.

SKILLS/MAGIC: Basil relies on a limited arsenal of magic, along with some highly magical items. Though his choice is limited, it is an incredibly powerful unique choice.

- - - DELUGE COINS - - -

An odd item but Basil's best nonetheless. The Deluge Coins hold a great magic, though it relies on what Basil calls the standard of 'Total Victory or Utter Defeat'. There are fifteen coins, each with two sides (Sun, Raindrop) but only one coin matters, whatever side it lands on the others revert to that side, the other coins are really only there to distract from this main coin hitting the ground.

Should the Deluge Coins show the raindrop, the sky will be overcome with dark clouds and a vicious storm will be unleashed onto the battlefield. Basil works great in water and this massive change of scenary will most certainly hand him the inititive. Let The Downpour Begin!

However, should the Deluge Coins turn Sunny Side up, the sky will be cleared of clouds and the sun will burn viciously, making the field just what Basil dislikes, possibly turning the tables on him. Fail.

Funnily, most of the times the coin land sunny side up or the main coin never hits the ground, the worst of this times being the coins tossed into the air with a sparrow swiping down and snatching the main coin only to fly off leaving all present stumped and Basil flabergasted. (...)

- - - RAINY DAY BALLARD - - -

The Rainy Day Ballard only works when water is in the immediate area; the ability allows him to control the water and use it an all sorts of ways, it is able to trickle through defences and inflect massive damage.

Though it is referred to as a ballard, it is not really so much that as it is an extension of Basil's eccentric personality. During the 'ballard' he notable acts like his childish self with an air guitar solo, though even he admits he has no skill at the real or fake thing ("I Don't Know How to Play! I'm Just Strumming My Damn Belly Button Here! ><)

APPEARANCE: I have a picture ^^ Don't worry though, the picture will defiantly help for getting an idea of the appearance but I'll also explain some things below:



On his clothes and armor it can be noted that Basil wears an emblem, Yin-Yang- that symbolizes balance, the dominant symbol of the Deities. His wardrobe is that of the Yuzhno-Karafuto Deity, complete with the scales of the defeated Great Serpent, long sleeves, and unique to his garb, the headdress with the metal protector on the forehead.

Around his neck is a pair of goggles; used as he is a skilled swimmer, during a feirce battle, and he likes to use them for comically effect by putting them on when joking sexually and using innuendo!

PERSONALITY: When it comes to personality, Basil is the leader of odd and eccentric! He holds a calm demeanor usually, even noted as appearing somewhat dim, though that is often him lost in though and day dreams. While in battle he is quick, he seems somewhat sluggish otherwise, even his flexibility seeming dulled.

Basil is a talker of Mercutio-like standards. An avid-ranter, Basil twists works, pointless jokes, and oddities.

One thing he dislikes is a person trying to command a conversation; Basil battles that with his unique style of dialogue, which can be quite random, brillant, he can also make a conversation fun or uncomfortable but usually adds a nice bit of flare. Though at times he seems quite knowledgable, he also seems quite childish.

Not to say he is incapable of being serious. Though he never really shows anger, rarely even agitation, while he might keep his playful attitude, many are amased that at the same time he can play himself as a brillant fighter capable of strategy and long term planning.

Despite his high position he has no wife (oddly, none of the High Deities have a wife or husband) however, Basil does give reason to doubt his allignment, hinting at bisexuality, which he loves to use to put enemy and ally off-center with a crude joke and laugh, though he never goes beyond that. Though he does hint of past relations, though, if this is a joke, that is currently unknown.

He is not religious, however he has developed a sorta hero worship/respect for his teacher, The Writer, who taught him so much.

Even in the face of danger he remains eccentric and wild. While this is mostly all that is known of him now, he will surely stir up some surprise in his ventures.

BIOGRAPHY: Basil's early life is largely a mystery, however he will admit to being an only child, not only brother and sister wise but also lacking parents.

He claims that early on in life he was chased from Yuzhno-Karafuto, his home city, due to encouraging the discontent of the heiarchy for his poor conduct (He doesn't reveal exactly what that was, but hints that it may have been sexual in nature)

Once more there is a large blank spot, leaving much of this time a mystery, but after nearly five or six years he reemerged, returning to Yuzhno-Karafuto despite some controversery.

It was around this time the Great Serpent was rampaging the coast, as it drew near, the Heiarchy fled and the people choose to flee as well. However, Basil remained and defended his home from the beast. After a great battle, Basil bested the beast; unable to penetrate its scaled flesh, he set a trap and tricked the Serpent, in a vicious charges the delicate flesh of its gills were caught on a blade and its was opened up wide. The Serpent died and Basil was proclaimed a hero.

However, Basil was confrotned by a stranger, claiming to be leader of the Deities, The Writer. He showed interest in Basil's skills, and more intently on his care for his people and offered Basil the status of High Deity, should he be trained in the ways of Enlightenment. Basil accepted.

After some years, Basil learned much and departed with the title of Deity of Yuzhno-Karafuto, however, he remains intent in his travels to learn, much as The Writer and the other High Deities before him did, in order to learn of the world and enlighten themselves.
