Summer and Metanth

Name: Summer Heil

Age: 17

Race: Drawynn (humans who are able to perform magic and have a Dragonlit partner)

Sex: Female

Eyes: Hot Pink

Hair: Dirty Blonde with a streak of Pink

Weight: 130 lbs.

Height: 5' 11"

Weapons: None

Armor: None

Strengths: Summer’s greatest strength is her magic. She has mastered her spells and is able to cast them with barely a thought. The uses for each spell can vary greatly, not just for hurting an opponent, and their power can be strengthened or lessened for more options. If a foe comes to close for magic to be effective, she does know some hand-to-hand combat to fend people off. Summer is fairly good at exploiting weaknesses, if the opponent shows any. Finally, she and Metanth work amazingly well together, making them a perfect team.

Weaknesses: While she cast spells easily, it takes a few seconds before the magic is executed. For a speedy opponent, a few seconds is all that is needed. This also makes her magic unadvisable at close range, not only because the foe could attack her before she manages to cast but also because she could end up getting caught in her own spell. While she does know some hand-to-hand combat, Summer could really only fend off your average, everyday person. To someone with combat training, her attacks would be like child’s play. She has a tendency to play around a little while battling. While that might be okay during a friendly fight it could make her mess up during something far more serious. Lastly, Summer and Metanth’s life is connected. If someone takes Metanth hostage or something, Summer couldn’t do a thing.

Magic:

Fire Bomb - Summer gathers the fire element in a small ball and throws it at the target. When it connects with something, it creates a small explosion. This spell’s power can range from the power of a firework to a fair-sized explosive. However, a stronger form of this spell is harder to control and it may veer of target or explode before it hits anything.

Burst - Instead of condensing the fire element in her hands, Summer condenses it near the target. The fire is condensed to the point where it implodes, creating a larger explosion than the fire bomb. This spell is much faster since it doesn’t have to travel to the target and is much stronger. However, like the first spell, a stronger form of Burst can condense in the wrong area or explode off-time.

Lightning Crack - Summer uses this spell to gather the lightning element in her arms, which she then discharges from her hands and at the opponent. This spell can paralyze the foe for an instant and she can extend the range of this attack by making it stronger. However, by extending the range, she can accidently hurt allies or bystanders.

Flash - This spell causes Summer to gather electricity in her whole body, expelling in all directions from her. Again, stronger forms of this spell can hit bystanders if she isn’t careful. This spell is best used against multiple attackers and can paralyze them for longer periods of time, sometimes up to a minute if the person has a weak constitution.

Ice Break - By gather the ice element, Summer can create large icicles around her which she then hurls at the opponent. Direct hits will cut open the enemy and then immediately freeze the wound. While the wound won’t bleed when frozen, it also won’t heal until the ice comes off. However, by adding more power and increasing the size the blades, they can become unwieldy and unable to fly very far.

Sub-zero - Summer is able to fire blasts of ice from her hands. This ice is able to instantly freeze whatever it hits. A common use of this spell is to create icy patches on the ground, making it hard for an opponent to find sure footing. And while it’s not strong enough to freeze an entire person, it can be used to freeze a person in place; such as freezing someone’s foot to the floor or a hand to a wall. Using this spell too much can actually cause ice to build up on Summer’s hands, hindering her ability to use other spells.

Earth Shatter - This simple spell calls on the earth element to create large spikes that shoot up from the ground to impale an opponent. The spikes are preceded by a small earthquake which can alert a person to the impending attack. While making this spell stronger causes the spikes to be larger and more deadly, it also makes the earthquake more noticeable.

Cage - By using the earth element, Summer can create a dome of rock that traps the opponent. Earthen spikes then shoot up from the ground inside the dome, more deadly since the prisoner has nowhere to run to avoid them. Stronger forms of this spell make the dome more sturdy so the foe can’t break out and the spikes larger. However, an earthquake also precedes this attack. If the target isn’t captured by the dome, this spell is wasted. It’s also ineffective is the opponent manages to break out of the dome.

Water Surge - The water element is used to summon a vortex from Summer hands. The vortex is strong enough to lift an opponent off their feet and send them crashing into a wall. Summer can also change its direction slightly, allowing her to go after a moving opponent. She can make the vortex larger and more powerful but she sacrifices the ability to control its direction by doing so.

Serpent - A stronger version of water surge, this spell also creates a vortex of water. However, at the end of the vortex, a dragon head is formed. This head is able to clamp onto opponents with its teeth, inflicting even more damage. It is also highly mobile, able to track moving targets easily. By making this spell stronger, Summer can increase the size and power of the vortex. However, this slows the dragon slightly and also decreases its mobility, sometimes causing it to crash into other things.

Wind Suppress - This spell uses the wind element to make the air around an object denser. The dense air is harder to move through, slowly down some things and stopping others that are already moving at a very slow pace. Increasing the power of this spell widens the range and the denser air can even cause a small amount of injury. However, Summer can only control where the spell will take place, not who it affects, meaning she could slow herself down or even cause injury to herself.

Force - Summer uses the wind element to condense air so tightly that it forms a physical barrier. This can be used to shield her from attacks but can also be used to entrap people. The barriers can’t be broken in a normal sense. Instead, a person can force something through the barrier with enough strength. Maintaining a shield can be draining on Summer so she can’t keep up a barrier for long periods of time.

Light Revive - Using the light element, Summer can speed up the healing of wounds. This spell just speeds up the healing so wounds aren’t healed instantly unless they are very small. Still, it can stop the bleeding of larger wounds and help a person continue a battle. This spell uses up the light element and causes an area to lose light, causing it to get dark. Thus, this spell can’t be used there isn’t any light around.

Scatter - Unlike the first spell, the light element is used to attack a foe. Holding both of her palms in front of her, Summer fires a shotgun-like blast of light pellets. On they’re own, these pellets are barely noticeable so getting grazed by this attack will hardly cause any damage. However, taking the full brunt of this attack can cause a good amount of injury. This also caused more damage at close range due the spreading out of the pellets. This attack can’t be used in darkness, magical or otherwise, and is best utilized in broad daylight.

Dark Decay - The complete opposite of Revive, this spell causes rot and decay using the dark element. When used on flesh, it can make wounds larger and more grievous. However, Summer pretty much refuses to use it like that and instead uses on inanimate objects to turn a battle in her favor. This spell is worthless in broad daylight or bright artificial light. Using it also drains the darkness from an area, making things clearer and brighter to sight.

Void - Another dark spell, this one is used primarily for defense. Summer rips open two hole that act as portals. Whatever enters one hole comes out of the other. This is mainly used against projectile attacks and can be effects for turning the attack against the user. The holes aren’t very big so a person or a large attack couldn’t normally enter one. This spell also can’t be used in areas of bright light.

Quiet - Due to being around the time-altering sword Glamrin, Summer developed this ability. For ten seconds, she can stop time around her and Metanth. All of her magical abilities are unable to be used during this so attacking a frozen opponent is pretty much impossible. Its main use is to avoid a powerful oncoming attack or to set herself up for a surprise attack on the opponent. Using this spell takes a good amount of energy out of Summer, meaning it can’t be used multiple times in succession.

Appearance: Summer starts off with a pair of light khaki shorts that are mid-thigh length and rest easily on her hips. She wears a sleeveless, pink top with a design of multicolored butterflies on the front. There is still a purple sweater tied around her waist and the bottom of it reaches down to her knees. She wears white socks that only come to her ankles and a pair of white and pink tennis shoes. On her right wrist, she has a bracelet of interlocking, silver dragons and on her left wrist she wears several bangles that are of all different colors. Around her neck is Tiamat, a necklace that has a small jade encircled by a silver, Chinese dragon on a silver chain. Her blond hair is cut to her chin and has miniature braids scatter throughout it. Her streak of pink hair lays to the side of her left eye. Metanth, when he’s awake and active, tends to perch on her left shoulder. When he’s resting, he lays his body across her shoulders with his tail coiled around her left arm.

Personality: Summer tends to act pretty happy-go-lucky. It’s rare to see her without a smile on her face. It’s also hard to get her riled up over an insult; she’ll just smile and shrug, letting it slide off her back. She enjoys meeting new and broadening her horizons. Sometimes, her curiosity about people gets the better of her and she’ll ask a practically endless series of questions. She’ll also sometimes go out of her way to help people. Despite her almost absentminded happiness, Summer can be analytical about situations. Her creative solutions can sometimes surprise people. The Drawynn also enjoys a good battle and really likes it when the opponent uses techniques she’s never seen before. Along with that, she desires to become stronger, almost bordering on an obsession. When it comes to Metanth, Summer usually has her hands full calming his fiery temper. She’s also extremely protective of him and would risk her life to see him safe.

Biography: Summer Heil was born to Mat and Daphne Heil, in the city of Cielo. Technologically, the world she hails from isn’t too different from our own. However, many different races inhabit it, including the race she belongs to, Drawynns. As a child, she had a normal life. Both of her parents were teachers, though not at the same school that Summer went to. They decided it would be better for her if they weren’t there, that way, they wouldn’t be tempted to pamper her. She had good grades and was an overall good student. In the evening, if they had time, her parents would teach her magic that was usable by their race. Her father also tried to teach her some melee combat but she just didn’t like it at all.

Then, at the age of ten, it was time for her to bond with a dragonlit. All drawynns bonded to one at that age and she wasn’t alone in the endeavor. There were about twelve drawynns in all that were ready to bond. However, when the children and their parents reached the dragonlit nest, which was only a few miles out of the city, they found it to be destroyed. Dragonlit bodies and smashed eggs laid everywhere. The drawynns were devastated. Bonding to a dragonlit was an essential part of their race’s growth. If a drawynn didn’t bond, they would eventually lose the ability to use magic. But what could’ve destroyed a dragonlit nest eluded their knowledge.

When searching through the wreckage, Summer stumbled upon an intact dragonlit egg. The rest of the group was elated that one survived, but who it would bond to was another matter. Summer’s parents said that since she found it, Summer should be the one to bond to it. However, other parents disagreed. Eventually, the argument turned into a fight. During that fight, the egg, which had been placed near the center of the nest and far from others, hatched. The small dragonlit hatchling, a metal breed, immediately crawled over to Summer. The children, not able to fight against full grown drawynn, had surrounded the egg and wondered what was inside. Summer’s parents were pleased with this, but the others weren’t.

When Summer returned to school as a bonded drawynn, the other students shunned her. Though she had been a good student, she had never exactly been popular. Now most of the students avoided her or said rude things about her. And it didn’t help that Metanth was very defensive of his drawynn. Eventually, the only friend she had left was an older drawynn by the name of Samantha, who had already bonded to an ice dragonlit. While her parents and their dragonlits tried to help her by telling her that the others were just jealous, Samantha listened to what Summer had to say. She even taught Summer and Metanth how to use their magic more effectively and work together as a team.

Finally, one day, after five years, Metanth wanted to go back to where he had been born. The bodies of dragonlits that were there before were now decaying husks. The metal dragonlit had never actually remembered the nest when he was born because Summer and her parents left shortly after he was born. He was enraged at the senseless destruction of his home, he wanted to find who did it. While searching around, Summer found the necklace, Tiamat. Unsure of what it was and what it was doing here, she picked it up. Summer, distanced from her family and dislike by virtually everyone, agreed to help Metanth get revenge. That night, she left a note with her parents and Samantha telling them what Metanth and her where doing. Gathering some money and supplies, the two left to find who had decimated the dragonlit nest.

After two years of traveling around, Summer and Metanth witnessed the murder of a priest. She confronted the murder who told her that his name of Nyle and that the priest was actually a wanted murder. Not believing his story, Summer fought against Nyle. Soon, the police came to the scene and mistook her for a criminal. During the battle, it was revealed the Summer was supposed to be killed by the police. However, in exchange for trying to help him, Nyle saved Summer’s life. Afterwards, he went back to his own time with his time-traveling sword Glamrin. Not much later, Summer learned that a CEO of a technological company was rumored to have destroyed the nest. She went to the headquarters of the company only to encounter Nyle yet again, who was on another bounty, this time for the same CEO. Together, they made their way to the CEO’s office only to find him dead. There, a person mocked the pair with information about the real perpetrator. Both of them escaped the guards and the building. With the new information, Summer concluded the that attacker was her friend Samantha.

While contemplating this, the Drawynn was attack by the cybernetic angel Valion. He was intent on killing her due to the fact that she should’ve died the first time she met Nyle. The bounty hunter came to her rescue, transporting them forty years into the future. There, the pair met their future selves, who where married and had two children. Needless to say, it caused a bit of an awkward situation. However, Valion tracked them in time and almost managed to kill both of them, only to be stopped by his future self. The angel then sent Summer and Metanth back to their own time, erasing their memories of the incident.

Nyle finally contacted Summer again, but this time in a less serious situation. He, embarrassed, asked her out on a date, which she happily agreed to. They left Metanth and Cani, Nyle’s animal partner, with Valion and went out. However, they hadn’t been gone very long when Nyle received a message from Valion saying that Metanth and Cani had been captured. The angel was able to locate the two partners at a laboratory within the city. The pair made their way there only to be confronted by Samantha and Glera, her dragonlit. Sam revealed that she did infact destroy the dragonlit and was a member of the Flagin faction, a warring faction from Nyle’s timeline. She had destroyed the nest in order to prevent any Drawynns from affecting the war. The pair fought against Samanth and, although she was powerful, they managed to defeat her. Summer and Nyle then searched the lab for Metanth and Cani. They eventually found them but, unfortunately, the two partners had been genetically experimented on, causing mutations. While Metanth didn’t think too much about it, he was far more happy to see Summer was safe and be back with her, Summer was utterly devastated, blaming herself for not being able to protect him.

At that point, Samantha showed up, barely hurt from the earlier fight. She had only pretended to be beaten. She intended to finish her work and kill Summer but Nyle protected the Drawynn again, becoming infected with the Hydra Virus. Sam then fled the scene, called back to her own time. Valion then showed up. Because there was no known cure for the virus, Nyle was but into cryostatis to prevent anymore damage. Before he was put under, Nyle gave Summer his communicator, which also doubled as a time-traveling device. He was then frozen and Valion left with Glamrin and Cani, to protect the two for when Nyle would come back. The angel also agreed, though somewhat reluctantly, to help Summer if she ever needed it.

After that event, Summer decided to use the time travel device to hunt down bounties throughout time, much like Nyle did. She also thought that perhaps she could find a cure for Hydra Virus by doing this. During her excursions, she, literally, ran into a person called Shantanu Damon. He helped her track down the drawynn's current bounty. The two go along fairly well and quickly became friends. Shan even trained her a little in hand-to-hand combat to somewhat alleviate her weakness to physical attacks. He also gave her the frequency to his communicator in case she ever needed help again.

Name: Metanth

Age: 7

Race: Mutated Metal Dragonlit

Sex: Male

Scales: Shiny Grey

Eyes: Hot Pink

Weight: 85 lbs.

Height: 3 ½ ft.

Weapons: His own claws, teeth, spines, and tail.

Armor: His scales can withstand piercing weapons such as swords, daggers, and even bullets. However, weapons that rely more on force, such as clubs and axes, can break bones with enough force, even if they don’t break through his scales.

Strengths: Metanth is a fierce fighter, usually not giving an opponent a chance before he’s all over them. He is a good fighter though, and knows how to use his own weapons and abilities with accuracy. His claws and teeth and rip through tough material and his tail is good for getting through tiny spots to pierce the opponent. The dragonlit is also very protective of Summer and his ferocity usually gives her the time she needs to cast a spell or think of a plan.

Weaknesses: While he is a good fighter, he does have a tendency to rush into battle without thinking of a good strategy. His temper also works against him; it’s easy to rile him up with only a single comment. His protectiveness of Summer can also be used against him, causing him to take a devastating hit in order to keep her safe.

Skills:

Fire-Breathing - Fairly self-explanatory, Metanth can breath fire. Since he is a metal dragonlit, his fire is even hotter than that of a fire dragonlit. He can melt standard kinds of metal, such as steel, with ease. However, because of its intensity and his impatience, Metanth tends to use his all of fire in one breath, leaving him without this ability for about an hour. Also, only one head can breath fire at a time.

Metal Shield - This ability allows Metanth to cover himself and Summer in a sheet of metal, rendering them almost impervious to harm. However, this defensive ability makes in very hard to move and thus almost impossible to dodge attacks or make a counterattack. Summer is also unable to use her spells with this ability active. It drains Metanth a good amount to use this skill, making it so he can only use it a few times before becoming tired.

Elemental Strike - A joint attack, Summer is able to cover Metanth’s body with a certain element. The dragonlit then charges at the opponent, damaging them both physically and magically. While this attack doesn’t really have any side-effects on Metanth, it does cost Summer some of her ability. While Metanth’s charging, it’s rather hard for him to change direction, meaning a fast enough opponent could simply side-step the attack.

Appearance: Metanth looks like a miniature dragon. His body is about two feet long while his tail the remaining foot and a half. His scales are shiny grey, not silver, while his teeth, claws, and spines are pearly white. All three have a uniform length of about half an inch except for his incisors, which are about an inch and stick out of his mouth slightly when it’s closed. His wingspan is the same as his body length, three and a half feet. The wings have three fingers each, not including the outer one, and the webbing in-between is white and rather tough despite its frail appearance. There is also a small claw at the top of each wing, though it’s too small to use in battle. His tail ends in a flat, dagger-like projection that can be use to pierce the opponent. His spines begin at the base of his necks and run all the way down to the flat end of his tail. There are three rows of spines, one that flows along his spine and one on either side of that. Finally, his most prominent feature is the fact that he has two heads and necks which are both identical. Both heads have a pair of horns that start above his eyes and point backwards and long with a small horn on the noses. There is also a small, oval jade in the middle of each forehead, its purpose unknown. His eyes are hot pink, just like Summer’s, but he has slitted pupils that shrink or widen depending on his emotions.

Personality: While he has calmed down a bit, Metanth still retains his hot-headed tendencies. Insulting him or Summer will cause him to retaliate, though whether be with his own insult or an actual attack depends on the insult. He also tends to be suspicious of other people and has a hard time warming up to others, in contrast with Summer’s curiosity about others. Of course, Metanth is extremely protective of his partner and tries his best to keep her out of dangerous situations. However, he has a huge amount of faith in Summer and trusts her ability to get out of bad situations, regardless of what he may act like. In regards to his mutation, he takes what happened to him very stoically. His idea is that he shouldn’t fret over something he can’t change. Instead, he decides that he can even better protect Summer now. Even though he has two heads and, therefore, two brains, his heads work simultaneously. His heads never talk to each other and hardly ever say something at the same time. Instead, one head will begin a sentence while the other finishes it. While this may create an eerie scene, Metanth simply does this naturally. The only time one head says something different from the other when he has more than one opinion about something.

Biography: Metanth was the only surviving egg found at the dragonlit nest after it had been attacked. When dragonlits hatch, they immediately go towards the being that has a spiritual resonance similar to their own. Mostly this is their parents but when bonding, it is a drawynn. In Metanth’s case, Summer was the one that he bonded with. The bond takes place as soon as the drawynn and dragonlit touch but isn’t anything dramatic. In fact, if one didn’t know that, it would seem that nothing happened. Bonding simply allows a telepathic link between the two and allows the drawynn to grow in magic.

For the first few weeks, this dragonlit was a creature of instinct. He simply ate and slept. However, he started to grow in mental capacity and understand Summer. In about a month, he could talk and understand what went on around him. But, since his personality is so different from Summer’s, she was the only thing he couldn’t understand. When she was teased at school, Metanth immediately defended her and would almost attack the others. It was this treatment that caused him to distrust anyone but Summer and her friend, Samantha. He learned a great amount about other beings and magic from Samantha’s dragonlit, Glera. It was also through those two that he learned to work well with Summer despite their personality differences.

Then, when he was five, he had a sudden urge to visit the place he was born. When he saw the death that littered the nest, he was enraged. He vowed then and there that he would find whoever had done this and get revenge for his fallen kin. Understanding the importance of it, Summer agreed to help him. That night, the two left. Metanth wasn’t saddened by leaving Cielo. In fact, he was happy. He considered that city nothing more than a heap of liars and even didn’t care for her parents.

Metanth was suspicious of Nyle when they first met, and understandably so. However, he tolerated the bounty hunter the second time they met, mainly because of Summer’s friendship with him. While going after the CEO, Metanth and Cani where forced to work together. Though the two exchanged insults at the beginning, they became fast friends after discussing and joking about Summer and Nyle’s relationship. They also became rivals considering their own relationships with their partners was practically identical.

While Nyle and Summer had gone on their date, Metanth and Cani had been left in the care of Valion, which didn’t exactly please them. They resorted to a friendly spar, seeing who was stronger. In the middle of the fight, Samantha showed, which surprised Metanth greatly. Cani was ready to attack the Drawynn but Metanth explained that she was a friend of him and Summer. However, this proved to be a mistake as Sam knocked both of them out and took them back to the laboratory for experimentation. He hardly remembers anything about that time, only waking up to Summer’s tearful face.
