Appearance: Dr. Watkins is of a medium build. The only definition he has is in his arms due to the amount of work he does with his hands. (Speaking of which, his hands are rough and calloused over.) He enjoys fine food and scotch, and as a result he has a bit of a belly. This is hidden under his many layers of clothing. His first layer is a white dress shirt with a neck tie. On top of that is a light gray, single-breasted vest which is held shut by a row of buttons. The final layer is a dark gray, single-breasted frock coat. He usually keeps his frock coat open. His pants are gray pinstripes. To keep his head fashionable he wears a top hat with a wide brim. In order to keep his clothing nice when he is working he has an apron which he will wear. It's a cream color and is stained random colors.

His hair is cut short, but it puffs up a little, and he keeps it brushed back. He has mutton chops which come down to the halfway point of his cheeks. When he works a little lock of hair will come down on his forehead. If he doesn't brush it back it is a sign he is really into the project at hand.

Weapon(s): Three guns – a modified Howdah Revolver, a modified four barrel Lancaster Pistol, and a Hand Cannon. (The Hand Cannon looks like a Howdah Pistol, but with a shorter wider barrel. It can only fire one bullet at a time and has a powerful kick, but it can do the same damage as a real cannon.) Because he can modify the guns as he goes along (granted he has the material) their appearances will change over time.

At the moment the Howdah Revolver is modified to shoot 15 bullets instead of 6, the Lancaster Pistol is modified to shoot rifle grade bullets, and the Hand Cannon is modified to be a Hand Cannon period.

**Note: I don't know much about gun mechanics and how to get certain results, so I wont be able to go into detail about their modified appearances. Instead I will say the results of their modifications – e.g. if they have a more / less powerful kickback, if they have to be carried instead of held in their holsters, how easy to spot the modification is.**

Armor: The only armor Dr. Watkins has (or needs) is his British charm.

Carried Possessions: Dr. Watkin's most important possession is his time machine. He can't carry it around with him so he usually drives it to some point in time and then abandons it until he wants a change of scenery. It does have a motor and can be driven around, but driving through town in a time machine is usually not the best approach when trying to keep a low profile. The motor is a basic design that can be modified to accept any sort of input (he has a selection of spare parts in the large tool box; at the moment he can change between wood and coal). The machine itself is about the size of a two-door sedan. It is essentially a lavish red chair (which can seat two people in comfort) surrounded by a metal frame. There are some levers and buttons in the front of the machine which control how the machine moves through time and space. (Thanks to the intervention of the Nebians, the time machine can move across the planet as it moves across time. These functions must happen together, however, and the distance is limited to the planet the time machine is resting on.) There is a small medical kit under the dashboard, a large tool kit bolted to the back of the frame, and a lock box hidden behind the chair. He also has his telescope and some star charts, but the lens of the telescope are a bit scuffed and someone spilled scotch on his star charts.

The medical kit is really just scotch, a sewing needle, and cloth bandages.

The large tool kit contains everything a physichemibiomathemengineer could ever need (and can fit inside a 3'x4' box).

The lock box contains his 3 guns.

Dr. Watkins keeps pliers, a wrench, a screw driver, and a box of matches with him at all times. He keeps a pocket watch in the breast pocket of his vest. He will also have a gun (or two) if he pulls them out of the lock box. The guns will be in holsters on his hip, underneath his frock coat.

Powers/Magic/Skills: He's a brilliant scientist and inventor.
Limits: He can only work with what he has on hand, and only within the means he can understand it. That complex alien piece of computerized camouflage technology? He probably can't take it apart to make everyone some camouflage suits, but he will attach it to this steam powered cart he just built so the enemy wont see them puttering away.
Side-Effects: If he is wrong with one of his theories - depending what he was theorizing on - things can either go zap, pop, boom, squish, or silent as everyone shifts out of the plane of existence. Either way, people will know when he is wrong.

Battle Strengths: He has a wide selection of guns which he can and has modified. He can also pull things together in the middle of a fight, but these will be of iffy quality and it would require some time to build.
Battle Weaknesses: If his opponent isn't dead from the blast of his hand cannon, then it's time for him to start running and praying he can get out of the way before anyone finds out where he's run off to.

Other: Dr. Watkins has a degree in physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, mechanical engineering (with extensive knowledge on steam powered engines), and astronomy. The astronomy was just for fun.

Personality: Dr. Watkins loves to learn and is always on the search for something to take apart and understand – let it be a theory or a physical object. He loves challenges and is rather brave considering how out of place he is during his adventures. He is on the cheerful side for the most part and is easy to excite, but should anyone get on the wrong side of him he is quick to dismiss them as an idiot. He has no problem with people disagreeing with his theories, but unless they have something better they should shut up and let him do his stuff. He believes magic is nothing more than undiscovered science.

Likes: Science, working with his hands, and scotch.
Dislikes: Idiots, being denied a chance to learn, those hopping kangaroo people at the end of time, and cows.
Fears: Being in a vegetative state and cows.
Virtues: Dr. Watkins will always stop to help those who he finds to be good folk. He also always looks for the good in whatever type of situation he's in.
Vices: He has a short temper for anyone he finds an idiot. Though he would not do anything to cause them harm, he finds no problem with informing them of his opinion and treating them as something to be pitied. Also, have I mentioned he likes scotch?

History: Edgar Newman Watkins was born into an upper middle class family. When he was 14 he was hired as a lab assistant to a local chemist. After he graduated from school he was accepted into the University of Huddersfield where he obtained degrees in chemistry, mathematics, and mechanical engineering. (He really had no goal in mind, but he loved wasting time in the different departments.) Intrigued by his studies the University of Oxford offered him a full ride scholarship which he accepted. From there he received degrees in physics, biology, and astronomy.

On day during his stay at Oxford his roommate and he got into an argument over whether or not time travel was possible. His roommate, not believing it was, challenged Watkins to develop a time machine and offered his birthright as an incentive. The two boys shook hands and three minutes later there was a loud orchestra of zaps and pops followed by the materialization of an older-looking Watkins sitting in an unusual looking contraption. The older Watkins stepped out of the machine and demanded what he was promised.

This event gave Watkins the push he needed to start work on his time machine. It became a side project as he continued his education to get a doctorate in both physics and mathematics, and later became his full time job. He sunk his entire family's fortune into building it because he knew what would happen once he finished.

After completing the machine his first test run was to go back in time and demand his reward. It took some threatening, but he got his roommate to turn over everything. Once it was all documented in his possession, he wrote a letter to the bank to keep the land unoccupied until the day after he left. That day his parents would receive a letter noting them of their previously unknown property and wealth.

Dr. Watkins never returned to check up on his family, though he trusts they are doing well now. He continues his adventures through time believing it to be a unique learning experience.
