Name: Elise Venator Nickname/ Alias: “Azure Lily” (self-given alias) Age: 20 Sex: Female Race: Human Height: 5’ 10” Weight: 123 lbs. (approx. 56 kilograms) Eye color: Dark Blue Hair color/Style: Blonde, in a classic braided bun. Her far right/left bangs hang down shoulder-length. Her bangs as a whole reach down to her eyebrows. When she lets her hair out, it all falls down straight, halfway down her back. Skin color/complexion: Fair skinned (Caucasian). She sometimes gets sunburnt if she stays in the rays too long. Theme song:Kaine Escape
Appearance: Elise is slender and a little tall in build. Her fair skin is unblemished, as she has never been able to tan, always burning. Her face is oval in structure. She isn’t particularly muscular, but she is fit as a result of venturing into the outdoors.
She wears a blue and white Elizabethan-style dress, which expands the further it goes down from her waist, this dress reaches just above her ankles. Underneath she wears white pants and brown English-styled riding boots. Since her dress does not cover her neck, shoulders, or arms, Elise has a simple, blue, short shawl that merges into long sleeves. These sleeves come to a triangular point on both sides of her hand, in medieval fashion. When riding her horse, she wears brown leather wide-cuffed riding gloves.
Weapons: A fancy blue and silver-colored rapier, which Elise has recently dubbed “Halifax”. It has a fuller, and is almost 3 ft. in length. She wears its ornate sheath on her left side. It was a family heirloom, she brought it with her when she took left to seek her fortune. The only other weapon she owns is a hunting knife, sheathed in her right boot.
Armor: Worn over her clothes are the following pieces of metal armor: sabatons that cover her feet, knee-reaching greaves, poleyns around her knees, large multi-plated tassets on opposing sides of her body which reach from her waist to her calves, a female’s german-style cuirass, pauldrons with her family crest on the right one, and full gauntlets reaching from her fingertips to her elbow.
It should be noted that while it is relatively lightweight and high quality armor, it is not hyper-durable, and is not meant for taking direct blows from heavy weapons. It is also an incomplete set of armor, only shielding certain areas of her body when donned.
Carried possessions: Halifax, a hunting knife, a purse with some gold coins equaling in sum $500, her armor (which must be worn for now, she has nowhere to store it), an extra dress, and a canteen. In her horse’s saddlebags, she is able to store a few days’ worth of provisions. They are usually full.
Powers/Magic Skills: Elise has the potential to become a mage of anima magic (does not include light or dark magic, only natural elemental magic such as fire, wind, electricity, etc.), but has had no training or instruction on how to use these abilities, and in fact has no idea she is even capable of such powers.
Limits: Anima magic is limited by the skill and potential of its wielder, since the world’s strength is virtually unlimited. Elise could become a capable battlemage, but nothing like an archmage, sage, or powerful magician. Also, see Side Effects.
Side effects: Anima magic tends to be less “controlled” than other forms of magic, because it’s less pure. It is harder to concentrate a blast of, say, fire or electricity, than a ray of light mana or a vortex of dark magic. It has the potential to deal more damage to its target (unless they are particularly weak to light/dark magic), but also to surrounding people and settings.
Battle strengths: Elise has had a substantial amount of training from expert duelists, at her father’s request. She is, as a result, quite adept at single combat with a light sword or rapier; her skill with other swords is not as great, but still potent. Her resolve is hard to break, and she is a determined young lady. Her method of fighting focuses on avoiding attacks and capitalizing on any mistakes, due to her lack of strength against most opponents, and her choice of weaponry. She can *usually* successfully flee from a prevailing opponent if necessary, being of lighter build and equipment.
Battle weaknesses: Elise isn’t very strong, nor is she a full-fledged master of the blade. Her choice of weaponry is light, and heavy weapons and armor can overcome her easily. Lances and spears give her a hard time, as do ranged attackers like archers and magic users. Her armor does protect her some, but it’s not a heavy paladin’s suit, and it has gaps which can be exploited.
Personality: Elise grew up a happy, energetic girl, very outgoing and almost tomboyish. She was forced to do her studies, and this always displeased her. As she grew, however, she refined herself into a proper, mannered person, though her adventurous spirit always remained. She was known as an adventure-seeking, kind lass, with a tendency for asserting her superiority.
Likes: Horse riding, adventuring/exploring, swordplay, dresses, helping others (especially when she benefits), being in charge.
Dislikes: Overbearing authority, anything better than her, male clothing, arguments, evil or degenerate individuals.
Fears: Failing in her responsibilities, dying in gory fashion, hurting those around her, or letting someone down. Also, bats and rodents scare her.
Virtues: Has manners and class, and the pride that goes with it. Isn’t afraid to stand up to wrongdoing, and once she starts something, she will not give up unless it is utterly foolish or impossible to continue. Prides herself as an honorable and moral person, and acts accordingly. She is not loathe to take money from thieves, however, reasoning that they stole it already, and she can put it to much better use than they can. She is disinclined to take a life, unless it is absolutely necessary, and refraining would bring harm to herself or others.
Vices: Often stubborn and prideful. Her superior attitude can turn some people away, and unintentionally hurt other’s feelings. Has been known to overestimate her own abilities and get in over her head. Her kindness is not given out freely, especially to those of lower social class, and the lower someone is, the more condescending she will act.
Other: Absolutely will not be seen in anything other than a dress or skirt. While she may wear leggings or pants underneath her dress, she is obstinately against anything resembling cross-dressing, going so far as to criticize other women for doing so, even when it is beneficial for their protection or work. This habit brings her much attention from highwaymen and bandits, but she has always proven herself able to dispatch them and takes their money to support herself. She thinks this quite ironic, that hungry bandits would get robbed by their intended victim.
History: Elise was born in the country of Marle. Raised in her noble father’s manse since birth, Elise led a happy, fulfilling life. As a child, she always did her studies on ladylike manners and basic education as swiftly as she could, and then ran outside to explore the surrounding countryside. As she grew older, she made friends, and they would often go riding together. She studied bladework under tutors her father hired, and forced herself to excel in it.
During one particular month, a harvest festival was held, and merchants came from the surrounding countryside to do business and partake in the festivities. One such merchant organized a swordfighting tournament, with a made-to-fit suit of armor as its prize, and most of the village men joined. Elise attempted to join, and was initially rejected on the grounds of being a woman, but her stubbornness got her a spot on the lowest entry tier. Everyone believed she would be quickly ousted.
During the next few hours, she soundly thrashed every man that came up against her, beating them all in moments, much to the amazement and chagrin of the villagers. Upon easily winning the tournament against the unskilled commoners, the town was in outcry, and her father had to whisk her back to the manse to avoid the crowd’s anger. The merchant stuck to his word, however, and made her a suit of armor as best he could, though it was incomplete due to the lack of training for making feminine armor.
Elise was disheartened by the lack of respect her village gave her, despite her hard work and extensive practice. She came to believe that there was no real future for her there. She decided to leave, and find whatever fate she could discover as a roaming swordswoman. Taking her horse, Jacob, some provisions, her armor, and her sword, she set out, with no intention of ever coming back. She currently roams the roads of nations and far-off lands, doing mercenary work or other jobs when necessary, and searching for adventure, or foes to increase her own strength.
