Name: Triphyael
Nickname /Alias: Trip
Age: 78 (in human years)
Apparent Age: 24
Sex: Male
Race: Yafael Faeren
Race History: The Yafael are a special race of Faeren. They do not die, but are reincarnated much like the phoenix. Inside the village of the Yafael sits a large, elaborate furnace that continually burns day and night, rain and sun. From this, new Yafael Faeren are created, when a Yafael is killed their reincarnation emerges from this furnace, they do not die from old age, but few make it past 200. All Yafael are born with an insatiable appetite to explore, many come back to the main village of Yaferin but few stay longer than a year or two. Only the oldest living Yafael, currently 548, tends the furnace and raises the reincarnated Faeren. The Yafael do not age like normal beings, once they reach 100 they have the physical appearance of a young adult human, and from then on their biological clock slows down dramatically adding one year of apparent aging for every twenty years. They are also very small, the largest Yafael ever recorded was only eight inches tall and weighed nearly two pounds.
Height: 6 inches
Weight: 1.24 pounds
Eye Color: Black
Hair Color/Style: Midnight Blue, an unusual hair color for his race, kept at a shaggy one millimeter. His race has a special chemical in their hair that causes it to continually spark without burning making his hair look truly like a starry midnight sky, mostly noticeable only in dark surroundings.
Skin Color/Complexion: He has deeply tanned, unblemished skin.
Appearance: If Trip was human sized he would look like a sixteen year old boy. Trip has a square face with a nose that's slightly broader than most noses. His ears are pointed and lay nearly flat against his head. His eyebrows are dark and thick, but not bushy, he strives to make sure that they're not bushy. He has medium-sized lips that are a sun burnt pink.
His race has a higher body temperature than most races thus he usually walks around with as little clothing as possible, usually only wearing a pair of shorts woven from blades of grass, he also does this in order to make it less troublesome to find clothing with wing holes, which is a lot harder than you would think. His body is covered in lean muscle from all of his traveling and fighting. He has several scars here and there, mostly from stray cats. His entire body is naturally smooth with the only hair being on the top of his head and...you know.
Trip has two wings connected to the ends of his shoulder blades just below his neck that reach from his knees to about one inch above his head and to the ends of his arms. They are shaped like monarch butterfly wings, each Yafael has a different set of wings some have wings with feathers, some like insects, and some even have scales. Trip's wings look almost metallic and shimmer orange, yellow, and occasionally red at sunset.
Weapon(s): Trip carries no weapons. If he needs a weapon he will try and use whatever is in his surroundings as a weapon.
Carried Possessions: The only item Trip always has with him is his Fire-Rock Necklace that is bestowed upon all of the Yafael. Without the necklace the fairy would die, not immediately, there is an hour grace period before the fairy is consumed by his inner fire. The necklace is created from the furnace that contains the Yafael's eternal fire, it has five rocks (sizes from left to right, 1/8
mm, 1/4
mm, 1/2
mm, 1/4
mm, 1/8
mm) on a string made form black rock. The Fire-Rocks are similar to amber, except that they can glow like embers in the dark. The black rock is thin and looks like black string but can only be broken by placing the necklace within the eternal fire at Yaferin.
Powers/Magic/Skills: Trip uses the fire based magic that his entire race is blessed with. How that magic is used differs from fairy to fairy though. Trip mainly uses his magic for offensive maneuvers, helping demonstrate his fiery personality. The Yafael channel their inner fire, located in a chamber to the right of their hearts, through their body and out the palms of their hands, and other body parts if they have practiced long enough. They are also able to manipulate existing fires, of varying sizes.
One of his attacks is a series of fireballs. This is his fastest attack, but is also his smallest attack, usually only used when desperate. Trip uses this attack to cause general chaos by setting random objects on fire, if possible. This attack is activated from Trip channeling his inner fire through a random flinging of his hands and feet.
Another attack Trip can use is one large fireball. This attack is very powerful, but draining and time consuming. It takes Trip roughly one full minute of concentration in order to generate the fireball. The size of the fireball depends on the level of concentration and the amount of time spent creating it. One minute of complete concentration generates a fireball the size of a volleyball.
The only defensive technique Trip uses is a surrounding ball of fire. This technique is used only in the most desperate moments as it can be very draining on Trip and can even cause him to pass out. The technique involves Trip spinning around with his arms extended causing a mini maelstrom of fire to surround him, burning at such a heat as to obliterate any objects coming towards Trip. At most Trip can sustain this technique for maybe five minutes.
Trip can fly with his wings, Yafael learn to use their wings when they are about 20 so Trip is pretty adept at flying. Thus, he can fly for up to 15 miles at a slow, steady pace without becoming exhausted, if he was flying as fast as he could he would only make it about 2 miles before he would pass out from exhaustion. Trip's highest altitude currently is 1000 feet above sea level, the Yafael require more oxygen than other creature due to their inner fire and since higher altitudes have lower oxygen levels they cannot sustain themselves at very tall heights, or colder climates.
Trip is still a young fairy and is still developing his magic as he grows.
Side-Effects: Since his magic is drawn from his inner fire, any sustained use of Trip's magic requires him to rest for at least an hour afterwards, if he doesn't already exhaust himself to the point of passing out. It also speeds up his metabolism to the point where if he does not eat something within twenty four hours of excessively using his power his body will begin to eat itself, starting with his muscle mass.
Battle Strengths: Trip is very hotheaded and can come off quick and powerful. Since he is small it also makes him a hard target to hit.
Battle Weaknesses: Trip can also burn out fairly quickly. Any battle longer than twenty minutes can lead to a burn up (where his inner fire begin to consume him) and collapse. Since he is small it also makes it easy to inflict serious harm, if his enemy can catch him.
If Trip is immersed in water and then uses his fire magic he could incinerate himself within a minute. This can also affect him in colder climates with snow or frost that can melt due to his high body temperature, also due to oxygen being thinner in colder climates it make it harder for Trip to use his fire magic.
Other: Trip is currently the youngest Yafael Faeren in existence.
Personality: Trip has a temper as fiery as his inner fire. The slightest insult can set him off, especially if it is about his size. On a related note, Trip is also very shortsighted and will charge into battle without a plan A much less a plan B. Trip is also boisterous and loud, he is not shy in any way, shape, or form.
Likes: Fire, fireworks, bright lights, just about anything related to light and fire
Dislikes: Water, the Yafael are protected from their fire magic by a special oil in their skin that easily washes off and takes a full day to regenerate
Fears: Lightning, although it is a bright light, lightning scares Trip due to unpredictability, and it's unholy relation to rain and water.
Virtues: Honest and loyal, Trip would never give up on a friend and has no reason to lie
Vices: Honest, he is not scared to tell people what he thinks about them, which often leads to trouble, and whatever you do DO NOT give this guy alcohol, the slightest drop of alcohol sends him into an angry, uncontrollable, raucous version of himself.
History: From the moment Trip was born from the immortal flames of Yafueren (the eternal flame in Yaferin) he was marked of having great importance. In the entire history of the Yafael Faeren there have only been two documented cases of dark haired Yafael, most are born with bright red or blonde hair, and both of those Yafael saved their race from the verge of extinction, but at the cost of their own lives. This has caused Trip's upbringing to be somewhat different from other Yafael's. Trip has had a more intense education, from the time he was ten he was taught several forms of physical combat. He has been taught magic from the time he was twenty, but since it takes until a Yafael is fifty before they are able to use their magic he has only had twenty-eight years to actually practice.
Trip has always looked to the Yafael Elder, Granin, as a father, which surprisingly few Yafael do. Being raised in the Yafael capital of Yaferin is not as exciting as it may sound. The majority of Trip's childhood has been spent in a room learning from Granin. This has resulted in Trip being very bright, however he doesn't like to show off how smart he truly is. Trip led a comfy lifestyle while in Yaferin, which brought on much debate among the Yafael over whether or not he would truly be able to save the Yaferin should they become endangered.
The debate was settled when Granin forced Trip to leave Yaferin when Trip was thirty, most Yafael do not leave the capital until they have fully developed their magic, and not allowed to return until he is either one hundred years old, or the Yafael's existence is threatened. This makes Trip one of the youngest Yafael explorers, as well as one of the most successful.
Being forced to leave Yaferin by Granin was one of the few hardships Trip ever had while in the capital of the Yafael, but it was also one of the most painful, because of this Trip has a hard time trusting those older than himself, as he tends to think they are crafty and far too wise.
Trip has been exploring for forty-eight years now, has only run into a few other Yafael on his journeys, and has not had to worry about saving the Yafael, yet.
