Ceritia

Name: Ceritia
Nickname /Alias: Rose; Rose of the Seelie Court
Age: 87
Apparent Age: 23
Sex: Female
Race: Flower Fairy (Fae of the Seelie Court)
Height: 5'6''
Weight: 75lbs
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color/Style: Long, curly red hair

Appearance: Ceritia has rose-red lips and hair, as can naturally be expected. Her skin is a rosy peach, hair long and curly. Her figure is thin and light as the fairies are, but she also has supple curve to her form. Every movement she makes is with grace, and her countenance is soft, as are her deep blue eyes. Every curve of her face and body is soft, hands and even feet elegant in form. The dresses she wears are almost always red with plenty of velvety textures. Her favorite dress is one with gathered sleeves and a short petaled skirt. Over that goes her fey armor, seemingly crafted from vines. The green metal is unusually light with regenerative qualities, protecting the chest, shoulders, lower legs, hands, and feet with scaled armor.

Ceritia also has large wings that are shaped like that of a monarch butterfly. Their color varies in shades of red, iridescent like rubies with velvety black framing them. Her power is prominent enough to cast a red aura that clings to her skin, very light, but still present.

Weapon(s):

Thorn— A 3 foot blade that is doubly sharp and curved, almost like a scimitar. The metal that composes the entire sword is fae mithril, the hilt reinforced with soft, but sturdy silk. The pummel of the sword is sharp, highly resembling a thorn.

*Note on fae mithril (because I knew you would be curious): Pure, silvery deposits of mithril are spread out throughout the fairy queen's realm. This ore, hard as kevlar, is melted down and fused with raw life magic, effectively animating the metal to the extent that it behaves like a plant, subtly fitting to certain shapes and healing fractures over time.

Rosewhip— A thick, viny cord that thins as it reaches the end of its six foot length. All along its edges are retractable thorns, each one edged with a paralyzing poison. The poison itself takes only minutes before numbing and rendering the struck limbs of its opponents useless, but the enemy would more readily fear the three separate heads of razor sharp petals that can split at the end of the whip, meant for tearing fierce cuts into those it strikes.

*Note on Blush Vines (because I was curious): Unsurprisingly, blush vines are found in the same orchards from which rose fairies spring from. They grow as thorned green blubs (reaching up to two feet in diameter) that also grow two enormous, muscled vines that attach directly to the bulb (and these can reach up to 12 feet in length). The thorns of this plant are bright green in color and are coated with a venom simply called Blush, as it turns the skin of those it touches a bright red due to its nature as an astringent. While it is very good at flushing out impurities, it also sucks out a victim's strength. This strength sucking effect is most potent when injected directly into muscle, lasting for up to twenty minutes until the numbing and weakening effect wears off.

Blush vines take up to four years to fully develop, and only those that succesfully tame and trim off a part of the vine are allowed to form rosewhips. They are particularly tricky in use because the thorns are retractable (usually only used for self-defense), and its owner must find the correct nerve to activate to trigger the thorns in and out. The vine itself has the thickness of leather, and even when cut, continues to grow. Blush Vines are vigorous plants, but take nutrient only from its roots in the ground.

Armor:

Fey Armor— Ceritia wears a set of armor made to protect the vital areas of the body, covering the chest, shoulders, hands, feet, part of the upper legs, lower legs, and part of the back. The armor itself is made completely of fae mithril, a deep green color. It has an almost silken appearance, crafted to look as if it were formed from individual leaves, vines, and petals (thus giving it an overall appearance of scale armor). The armor is also cushioned in necessary areas to keep the metal from pinching or chaffing.

Because I also need a place to mention a belt and sheathe, a viny belt made of fey mithril is worn about the waist. It holds a sheathe for Thorn, edged with fey mithril and formed from leathery plant skin. This belt also has a hook for the rosewhip.

Protective Circlet-- Also formed from fey mithril, the circlet is a deep green in color, appearing to be made of three interwoven vines that wrap loosely around the crown of the head. Each of the vines have corresponding runes that glow a bright green when active.

Passively, the circlet provides a protective aura that further cushions vital areas. Rather than forming extra armor, it simply resists applied force (much like that of opposing magnets). Its greater function is to create a shield around the head and neck, but this must be mentally activated and lasts only for an hour (as it requires an additional hour to recharge again before additional use.) While the passive enchantment can only dissuade light force (like that of a fist), the active enchantment can repel the force of an arrow and even direct blows of a blade.

Carried Possessions:

Ring of Hiding: A plain silver ring with no obvious runes. Only tiny letters engraved in the metal indicate its magical qualities, which essentially hide the visible wings and aura of the fairy wearing it. But while it is able to visibly hide these things, one can still feel and sense the magic and physical wings that are still there.

Rose Pendant: The pendant itself is made from fae mithril, but enchanted to be as soft as a real flower. Shaped like a rose and no larger than two inches, the pendant is warm and buzzes with fae energy easily recognized by those of the Seelie Court. It also allows Ceritia to communicate directly to beings within the Seelie Court (it simply establishes a telepathic link when commanded to one the wearer names). In the hands of one who is not of the Seelie Court, this pendant looses its power until held once again by its rightful owner. It is worn on a plain silver chain around the neck.

Fairy Satchel: A satchel made from silk, with inner runes embroidered with silver thread. It is naturally large enough to hold a number of roomy pockets, but is not meant to carry anything large or heavy. The passive enchantments on it make its inside watertight while making the outside resistant to both water and flame. Every item listed below are things carried in the satchel.

Silver Goblet: Made from pure silver, the goblet is large enough to hold two cups of liquid. Its handle and cup is decorated with numerous leaves and blossoms, the inside engraved with pearl runes. A single word can cause the cup to fill with a number of different liquids, specifically water, nectars, and oil. It requires only a 30 minute recharge before it is able to fill itself once again.

Garden Garland: A foot long garland of intertwined vines. It carries everything from grapes to spinach. Anything plucked almost immediately grows back, though nothing on it ever grows larger than what might fit in the palm.

Corner Blanket: Woven from the fabric of air and water, this 10 foot long blanket is both warm and incredibly light. It is a pale green in color, silky, and surprisingly thin. These qualities make it very easy to store in small places.

*Note on the overdose of fey mithril and silver: These metals found and shaped within the fey realm are pure by nature, and thus have an innate resistance to evil influence. They naturally compliment the aura of power that emanate from members of the Seelie Court, and together they do, in fact, repel evil. Creatures of evil alignment (or those influenced by necromancy or corrupt magic) will find that these silver and mithril items are hot to the touch. Weaker evil beings may even feel fear or pain at the presence of these items (and even Ceritia's aura). These effects don't apply to natural shadow magic or mean/wicked people, but beings who are seriously tainted by demonic or necrotic sources.

Powers/Magic/Skills:

Blush of the Rose— Ceritia can extend her aura to invigorate the life around her, giving strength to others or vitality to plants. This can be done so delicately that it is hardly noticeable, but can also be channeled in a single burst to give sudden strength.

Limits: The vigor effect only lasts for an hour. It can't empower people to do things they normally couldn't, but provides a being's cells with energy that aids in healing and simple strength. It may just be enough to help a wounded warrior regain vigor enough to continue fighting. It also requires focus to charge (so no active combat cannot be happening) and at least 30 seconds to create a full burst.

Side-Effects: This ability certainly adds a flush to the target's skin. More notably, each use will slowly tire out Ceritia, who can only manage a few bursts an hour before she fatigues herself too much to use any further magic.

Briar Rose— Ceritia can conjure several large thorns at a time, each about six inches in length. These fly away from her in a burst of green, some randomly, but most in the direction of her target. They can be focused enough to hit multiple targets, but it isn't a wise power to use when allies are near.

Limits: The range of these thorns is about 20 feet, and each has a velocity comparable with an arrow. While the thorns can take a general direction, the maximum amount of thorns (7) will likely cause at least a few to fly in a random direction. There must be some degree of focus to charge this ability (so Ceritia can't be swinging anything at the same time she charges this, which takes about 30 seconds)

Side-Effects: This ability can only be used a few times within a one hour time frame before it will fatigue its user. It is not, by any means, a continuous ability.

Red Shield— Ceritia can create an energy burst, which appears as a red light leaving her body. The effect lasts only a moment, but can deflect strong (but somewhat small) magical and physical. It also has the potential to disrupt attacks or influences on the mind.

Limits: This shield can only be created within ten feet, and will shatter when met with brute force. It can only form “walls” one foot in diameter—enough to shield a head or vital area of the body. It obviously can't cope well with burst attacks. It can also only be created in areas that can be seen, and incoming projectiles must be moving slow enough to properly react. As far as duration, it only lasts a second.

Side-Effects: The brightness of this energy can be disorienting at close range, but requires only minimal amounts of energy to use. It can thus be used fairly frequently (though is also not a continuous ability).

Battle Strengths: With over 70 years to perfect her technique, as well as weapons to aid with attacks at both far and close range, Rose's most formidable strength is certainly her speed and style with the blade. Her slashing attacks and poison, however, are easily hindered by metal armor.

Battle Weaknesses: While Rose has extensively trained, she has not seen many true battles. She is easy to catch off guard and trick, and her light frame makes her easy to overpower when using brute strength.

Other: Rose, oddly enough, smells like roses.

Personality: Ceritia is a rather serious woman, though not strict or severe. She has a love of poetry and philosophy, but equally loves dance and music. While she can get lost in music, she can also get lost in her own physical training. While Lilies attend to the queen, the Roses attend to the safety of the Queen and her Lilies, often working as guards and soldiers to protect the court. Roses are well known for the passion with which they work, and Ceritia is no exception. She often cheerful, but equally somber and respectful when dealing with the troubles of others.

Ceritia also has a great deal of caution when dealing with those not of the Seelie Court, and is entirely innocent in regards to carnal desires and false pain. She has a great deal of love for nature and even respects tempered violence. Her fierce loyalty can, however, make her overprotective and sometimes even angry over trite things.

Likes: Nature, flowers, poetry
Dislikes: Know-it-alls, meat, tricksters
Fears: Fire, ice
Virtues: Loyal, loving, tender
Vices: Prideful, overbearing, impatient

History:

Fae of the Seelie Court do not mark time by days or years as humans do. Their most basic means of tracking time is by the ascension of queens (and sometimes kings) and their dynasties. Since the formation of the Seelie Court, there have only been four rulers: Honotia the Wise, Leuemewa and Kaoiani the Great, and Minerva, who still rules today. Ceritia was born in Menerva's current reign.

It's equally important to mention how fairies of the Seelie Court are generally born. The Queen herself is responsible for channeling the energies of nature and spirits together to create fairies, and is thus never able to leave her realm. Thus, fairies are most often born from flowers that flourish in Minerva's meadows, which are tended carefully to until they blossom and reveal the life within. Mating between fairies is also possible (as well as mating with fairies and other folk), but this is an often unnecessary means of birth that generally occurs outside of the fairy realm itself.

Ceritia was born from a special rosebush as an infant. She was later raised by the caretakers of the Rose Orchard who taught her about her innate abilities and encouraged her to take the path of the warrior. She took well enough to the training and began learning the basics of combat at the age of ten. Part of her trials included taming and cutting the vine of a Blush Vine, and she has since perfected her use of it.

Because Ceritia maintained such a firm dedication to physical training, she spent little time among other fairies in learning arts or dances. While she appreciates good use of the written and spoken tongue, she isn't particularly skilled with any form of art, but learned to be familiar with survival situations and battle tactics. Those few friends that she did make she became very loyal to, and she gladly pledged her services to a Lily named Erato after befriending the fairy.

Rose has since been Erato's knight, attending the Lily's important events while acting as a bodygaurd. Recent events have lead her to branch even further out, befriending a bard she is determined to follow if only to learn more of mortal realms.

Re: Ceritia

Not a problem. I've read through it and I'm still happy to Approve this.

Now - go forth, Faerie.
