"Every tool becomes a weapon, if you hold it right." Name: Goshimaksubardumcoranthiiz...etc.
Nickname /Alias: Gosh
Occupation: Inventor
Age: 14
Sex: Male
Species: Human
Height:5'5"
Weight: 120 lbs
Eye Color: Brown
Hair: Mouse brown/dishwater blonde
Theme Song: I'm Still Here General Appearance: Gosh is a skinny, knees and elbows fourteen year old, whose clothes never quite seem to fit him. Whatever he wears, almost always seems loose and awkward. He wears his hair short and tapered in the front, with the length in the back gathered in a braid. Although he may wear a variety of different outfits, depending on where his travels take him, he is most comfortable and at home wearing a pair of comfortable brown trousers (fastened tight at his waist with a belt), with a white lab coat -something with lots of pockets, which are usually stuffed with notes and a hodgepodge of tools. His favorite invention is one he makes use of often, which is a headset, with multiple lenses of varying degrees of thickness attached to adjustable levers, so he can pull them in front of his eyes in order to magnify the finer details of his work.
He has a tendency to spend a great deal of time hunched over a project at a desk for hours at a time, therefore his posture tends to remain a bit stooped and he generally stands with his hands deep in his pockets if he doesn't have anything to occupy them with. He has creamy, pale skin which has not been overexposed to the sun or elements. However, it isn't uncharacteristic for him to look a little roughed up, if his projects have brought him "into the field," and he has known his fair share of machine-related injuries.
Weapon(s): Although Gosh does not consider himself a fighter, he considers his tools and ingenuity to be his greatest weapons, for although he has no extensive weapons training, he can fashion a weapon out of the most unlikely materials.
Armor: He does not wear armor, personally, but he has developed his own unique armory designs, which have proven effective for others who tend to do more fighting.
Carried Possessions: Magnifying glass, eyeglass, rags, screws, bolts, etc. His prized possession is a fine detail tool kit, with small oddly shaped tools kept in precise order in wallet sized leather case. Other than these special items, other tools may be sporadically left in pockets. He never goes anywhere without his prized tool kit, at least. It has saved his life many times.
Powers/Magic/Skills:- Photographic Memory
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mathematical Reasoning
- Strategy
Battle Strengths: Gosh does not tend to be a fighter in the traditional sense, but he can function very well as a secret weapon working behind the scenes, developing innovated weaponry and making swift repairs on existing weapons or armor. Something he has learned, however, is that battles may still find him and he has had to defend himself a number of times. In this way, he has learned that his tools often function well as weapons if used right and placed strategically. He has a keen sense of angles, velocity, resistance, etc, which allows him to calculate effective offensive and defensive maneuvers if necessary. People tend to underestimate him, based on his scrawny appearance, but he is quick to dodge, evade, scramble and wriggle his way out of harm's way. However, if it came down to it, he knows the weaker points of the body and how to use sharp implements -like fine pointed tool to the eye or throat.
Battle Weaknesses: Naturally, because of his stature, he can be easily overpowered physically and outmatched in direct combat against someone with any sparring experience. In fact, the reality of one-on-one battle intimidates the daylights out of him, as he can barely lift a sword let alone use one to kill.
Personality: Gosh has a wide-eyed curiosity about the world, because he tends to see the wonder of its untapped possibilities. He possesses an abundant imagination and level of creative innovation. It can almost come across as ADD or ADHD, because he it is very easy for him to become distracted by the ideas formulating in his mind at the sight of something he might find useful -like new tools, materials, designs, etc. A uniquely designed belt buckle, could very well launch him into a whole new world of possible uses, applications and promise.
He is extremely quick thinking and high energy, like a kid on a constant sugar high. He speaks very rapidly, cramming his words together so they are almost indistinguishable from one another, especially when he is excited or nervous. When people ask him to slow down, he has to make a great effort. It tends to come out very slow and very loud. Due to being raised by an isolated colony of gnomes, he does not possess great social skills and he often prefers to keep to his projects. He does not understand all the hidden social rules and codes of behavior, a great deal of which are extremely foreign to him. He does not understand a great deal of the expectations placed on him by others, especially by those he does not know and have no place to make such demands.
He has a tendency to fidget if his hands are not occupied, which is why he often keeps them in his pockets where he can fiddle with their contents. He can seem rather skittish, especially to strangers, but in the heat of battle he is extremely calm and collected, as long as he has a way to apply himself and use his skills to aid his comrades -and provided that he is not in the frontlines. Even so, in life threatening circumstances, he has surprised even himself, for he never thought of himself as courageous or daring in any way. He has simply done what he had to do in order to survive.
It is safe to say that, while Gosh is confident in his mastery of invention, he is still trying to figure out who he is and where he belongs in the world, because he has never truly felt like he has belonged anywhere. He is at the point where he is afraid he never will.
Likes: Tools, gears, gadgets and some seemingly random objects, which only have meaning in the context of how they may be applied in some grander vision.
Dislikes: Close ended statements, in which people imply something is not possible.
Fears: Direct combat, blood, gore and violence.
Virtues: Although he is intimidated by direct combat, he possesses tremendous level headedness on the battlefield so long as he functions on the sidelines and in a supportive role.
Vices: Very, very easily distracted.
History: Gosh was orphaned and raised by a community of gnomes who specialize in inventing and gadgetry. Most of his childhood toys were early tools, puzzles and engineering sets. Although his growth is considered somewhat "stunted" due to spending the first couple months of his life without innovative stimulation, in contrast with the different developmental rate of his peers, he is even by their standards considered a child prodigy in regard to inventing. Due to the fact that he didn't quite fit in with his adopted family or culture, he felt pressure to apply himself even further, almost obsessively, in order to prove his merit.
His abilities as an inventor have gained him wide renown and taken him far from his home with the gnomes, where people are slower speaking and even slower thinking, highly aggressive and warlike, while remaining steadfastly unimaginative. All of this has been a difficult adjustment for him, especially as he does not possess the social skills most people do.
Ever since leaving his home, where he was treated as an adult with a high level of authority on the subject of mechanical engineering, he noticed he has been treated like a child by others. Even in his homeland, however, he faced the pressure of being different, so this sense of others wanting to change him or make him something other than he is has been with him all his life. When he first left his homeland, he was excited at the prospect of meeting his own kind, members of his race. Yet, the more he encountered them, the more he found he had no way of relating to them.
His name has proven far too long for most non-gnomish people to pronounce or remember. Most people, after hearing his name for the first time, could only mutter "...gosh." So, that is what they began to call him, and it has stuck.
