Tharohountis
Occupation: Wanderer, also a battle strategist/warrior
Age: (human) 23 (hybrid) 36 (Hybrids mature 13 years slower than humans do)
Apparent age: (human) 26 (hybrid) 39
Gender: Male
Race: A were-beast. Tharo can only change into a wolf/lion hybrid when raged or when ready for battle. Often called Hybrids, these were-creatures have DNA mixed with two animals. The first animal is usually the appearance (when transformed) and the second animal is usually the personality. For example, Houn looks more like a wolf, but has pride and rage in his heart (like a lion). When human, Hybrids have tan skin and scars in many places, especially the face and arms. A hybrids clothes are usually ripped off due to the body size of the beast.
Height: (human) 6'3" (hybrid) 8'6"
Weight: (human) 165 lbs (hybrid) 395 lbs
Eye Color: (human) Deep Blue (hybrid) golden-yellow
Hair: long (to his jaw) Brunett hair with grey streaks, coarse and strait. Same for hybrid hair.
Birthplace: Taük (Area in a Parallel Land, similar to earth)
General Appearance: Scarred hands and face, left handed, "hope" symbol tattoo on his right shoulder, Usually wears custom made clothing including a bear vest and leather/iron boots. Always has a backpack or some kind of carrier. Wears hood at night. A long scar that stretches from his left eye his chin. Tan skin. As a human, he is slender and rather scrawny, though his armor adds some weight to him.
Facial Appearence: A heart-shaped face with a strait jaw. As I said further up^, he has deep blue eyes and long, coarse, brown hair. His face is deeply scarred from battles and such. One scar stretches from the tip of his face to the bottom of his left jaw. His face if so scarred that it is not common for Houn to smile, because the scars make it painful to move, also why he doesn't commonly talk.
Hybrid Appearance: A Wolf-like Giant (didn't come up with that from new-moon, don't think I did) that can stand up on it's hind legs (like a bear), large yellow pupil that covers the whole eye except for the whites, which are at a very thin rim. As a hybrid, he is large and muscular
Weapons: Tharohountis typically carries a quiver (filled with arrows [Maximum amount: 50] and of course he has a bow to go with it), dagger/utility knife, (about 8 inches long, can switch to a utility knife. It's like a Swiss army knife with only a dagger and utility knife) and occasionally small, powerful bombs (one bomb is as small as a tennis ball but powerful enough to knock out anyone within 80 feet of it. They blow up 5 seconds after you light the fuse). When he is transformed he has giant claws and fangs that help him in battle.
Armor: Houn wears a titanium under-armor (like flexible armor. It's enchanted to be as tough as titanium yet as flexible as rubber) under his clothing along with chain mail, but the chain mail goes under his bear vest. Occasionally wears a hat that turns into a helmet in battle (it's enchanted so that when He's in battle mode, the hat turns to a perfectly fitted helm). When transformed, his armor turns into thick skin.
Carried Possessions: wears an orb that lets him control his body when he's a wolf/lion (It calms down the rage disease). Protector of the orb of hope, a small, reflective, smooth sphere that gives the wielder true control over that certain emotion (Tharohountis controls all the hopes and dreams in the world). The orb of hope, being the size of a marble, is easily carried in Tharohountis' pack. Occasionally wears the mask of truth, which finds his enemie's weakness (looks into ones' soul, finding their fatal flaw, and then he uses it to fight them) with a price. When he uses it for a long period of time, he loses strength when tranformed into a hybrid. If Houn uses it long enough, he may never be able to tranform, also losing the ability to use the mask. The mask resembles the face of a bear, cheetah, and wolf mix with very thin slits for the eyes.
Powers/Magic/Skills:
Able to talk to animals when he is a human.
Able to turn into a wolf/lion hybrid (refer to the rest of this post)
Fairly strong (as a human), can carry about 1½ times of his weight, very strong (as a Hybrid), can grab/lift three times his size. He's very fast, has an average intelligence, and When human, Houn has the average durability of his age. When he is a Hybrid, he has very thick skin and heavy bones, making him hard to pin down.
Hybrid Abilities: Hybrids are advanced in the art of regeneration and batle. Hybrids are, when transformed, rather warlike and mindless. Their amazing hybrid ability also comes with regeneration. Though the regeneration process makes his/her senses more sensitive for a while because it takes a while to have the nerves adapt to him/her, making them take additional damage when hit yet can attack more powerfully, when a hybrid regenerates they get a little more power for a short time (about three hours).
Battle Strengths: Tharohountis is fast, due to much experience running away from areas. He is heavily skilled in projectiles, especially the bow and arrow. Being a battle strategist, before Houn goes into battle, he plans the attack. As a human, he is best prepared when at peace. He meditates before hunting, battling, and fishing to make his aim better. He has very little gardening experience, but he does carry pear, cherry, and blueberry seeds to plant around his campsite. Also convenient when in needs to get goods at towns, he would set up a small hut to trade berries and seeds. When he's in a large battle, he commonly turns into a hybrid. As a hybrid, Tharohountis is very tough, fast, and hard to fight.
Battle Weaknesses: Tharohountis is not a very skilled swordsman. He prefers to fight from a distance, which can be a disadvantage because if he aims wrong, then the opponent would tear Houn up if he got close. And he has a bad aim when he's not at peace, which interferes with his short temper. He suffers from a disease caused by the hybrids that makes him almost uncontrollable when in battle. Although his muscular appearance, Houn is rather unbalanced as a hybrid, and it's worse when his disease is acting him up (the charm he wears on his neck only calms him down, he still can be unbearable). His appearance may cause fear around him, and since he is known across the land, and his face is unmistakable. Since he can turn into a hybrid, the animals in the forest can catch his scent and tear apart his campsite.
Personality: Tharohountis is not surprised easily. He has acute hearing, so he can be prepared for almost anything. He gets very emotional after some battles though. Most of the time he's courageous, proud, or hopeful. Tharohountis only gets angry with cowards. He has a disease that makes him uncontrollable in wolf/lion form. At battle, Houn can be filled with rage that at a point makes him twice as strong, fast, the likes. Since He's lived alone for most of his life, he enjoys being alone. He meditates to control his anger.
Likes:Tharohountis likes to go fishing and shooting (with bow and arrow for fun) when he finds a place to settle. He even occasionally makes pots out of red clay and sells them to merchants
Dislikes: The thing Houn hates the most is fear and greed.
Fears: His greatest fear is bears as a human and hybrid because it's the only thing that overpowers him.
Bio: Tharohountis was a young boy when both of his parents were killed by (supposedly) a pack of wolves in Ohio. He grew up with his sister, and learned everything he could, and using that knowledge for the future. One day he found his sister dead in the Kitchen. She was killed the same way his parents did. He was twelve at the time
Tharohountis then wandered from place to place, each time finding more knowledge, especially in war strategies. He learned the ways of archery and even led a group to battle. Later he also became skilled in bomb making and projectiles.
People around him were dying of the same cause as his parents, always when he went to a highly populated area. When it happened Tharohountis was either really angry or prepared for battle. A thick dust was in the area of the dead body.
Soon other travelers told stories of a dark man that carried death around him. Soon Tharohountis was shunned from all areas of the land, and started to live and learn from the wild and the animals. He strangely started to learn that he could speak to animals.
One day, Houn was practicing archery when suddenly he swelled up with rage, and started to shoot arrows at random. Then he got so angry that, somehow, he started to get larger and more hairy by the minute. In minutes, Tharohountis turned into a giant wolf. All the animals cowered in fear, which, which made him even angrier.
Tharohountis didn't remember any of this, because a hybrid loses most of its memory of what they were doing when they were tranformed. He needed to gather new supplies and clothes for his campsite and continued just the way he always did.
Over the years animals started to attack him too. So he continuously wandered until he found other beast hybrids. They were living in a large forest together. He could tell they were one of him because they all had scars. When one turns into a hybrid, the skin stretches to a point where you get scars usually on the face, neck, or arms.
The leader of the hybrid pack, Lomos, told him of the hybrid curse. When one is born with a destiny from the ancient gods of Hasuratchi (gods of the hybrids), their blood is mixed with two different animals, usually two mammals, though occasionally mixed with reptiles. The hybrids are guardians of innocent deaths, which is why they always see deaths around them that happen due to a certain mood. These are called killing souls, which are people that used to kill for a living. They haunt a hybrid until he/she gets rid of it.
Hybrids get rid of that one piece of death by saving a life about to be killed the same way, or bring the soul back to life using ancient sorcery. Each way is especially difficult, because reversing death is nearly impossible for sorcerers; you have to be extremely skilled to even learn it. And one never knows when the soul will kill, so how wouls they save that life?
As hybrids are, essentially, children of the ancient gods of Hasuratchi, every one hundred years, the gods choose five hybrids at random and specify their destiny. Those five are also protectors of the orbs of Hope, Wisdom, Fear, Balance, and Law. Each orb also comes with an ancient gift as well. Tharohountis is one of these five, protecting the orb of hope and using the mask of truth. Of course, each item comes with a price to pay (refer to above).
Tharohountis continues to wander the worlds, trying to find more secrets of the hybrids and the origin of the killer of his parents' deaths. He's gotten as far as a foreign land in Africa, where their ruler tells Tharohountis of the same deaths that have been happening around Houn.
