Kisasian 2.0

Orignally approved by Kishin in 2003. This is his updated profile.

Name: Kisasian
Nickname /Alias: N/A
Age/Birth date: 34
Apparent Age: N/A
Gender: Male
Race: Lion-Man
Occupation: Pride Leader/Adventurer
Height: 7'3”|220 cm
Weight: 529 lbs|240 kg
Eye Color: Coffee with specks of gold
Hair Color/Style: Kisasian is covered from head to toe in a tawny fur. The mane that surrounds his head is of a dark, golden brown.

General Appearance: Imagine, if you will, a mighty lion. A muscular cat, powerfully built with muscles rippling under a shiny coat of tawny fur. The backs of his ears are dark, almost black, and a tuft of dark brown fur adorns the tip of his tail. Power radiates from the coffee brown eyes, golden specks catching the light and adding a mysterious depth to his gaze. Cascades of golden brown fur flows freely around the lion's head, covering the sides of his head, his neck, and extending as far down as his abdomen.
Now imagine this lion, this beast, rising up on its hind legs. You can hear the bones of his body groan as they stretch and extend, reshaping the lion for bipedal movement. His front paws morphs, forming hands made to grip and hold objects. The hind legs lengthen somewhat, while still remaining digitigrade, and his spine twists enough to let him keep an upright position. What stands before you is a creature even more intimidating than it ever was on four legs. This is Kisasian, the lion man.

Standing at an impressive seven feet and three inches, Kisasian towers over most people he meet. Even most males barely reach to meet his chin and when you add in his weight and general physique to the calculation, the lion becomes an imposing figure indeed. He is a big creature, both tall and wide, but with little fat on his powerful frame. Instead, much of him consists of muscle, put on by his hard training regime and many hunts. His right ear has a V shaped chunk missing, and his hind legs and back have a few scars from previous battles.
Kisasian clothing alternates between a reddish loin-cloth made from the hides of animals he hunts, and a pair of dust brown baggy pants reaching down to his knees. He keeps a leather belt strapped across his chest to hold his sword sheath, but is otherwise shirtless. Kisasian has never been seen wearing any kind of footwear.

Weapon:
Kisasian's main weapons are his claws and teeth. Both his hands and feet have retractable claws, and he makes sure to keep them sharp at all times. Apart from his natural weapons, the lion is in possession of a large sword that he usually keeps strapped to his back when not in use. It has a blade of a red hue, with a running lion etched into it. The pommel is shaped like a lion with its mouth fully open and eyes made of rubies.

Armor: None. He has been known to wear a gilded breastplate with his Pride's marking, claw marks over a baobab tree, engraved on it, but it is rarely worn these days.

Carried Possessions: N/A

Powers/Magic/Skills: Transformation. Through lots of practice, Kisasian has mastered the skill of switching from a bipedal form to that of a quadrupedal. In this purer of lion forms, Kisasian gains an extra boost of strength and agility, however, he loses the use of his hands as they transform into paws. Changing into this shape lowers his center of gravity, giving him better balance and a new angle from which to strike.
While in his true lion form, Kisasian is more driven by instinct than usual and subject to animalistic cravings and fears. In this form, fire and thunderstorms makes him nervous and agitated, as does other loud noises like fireworks, gunshots, and sometimes even slamming doors. His already sharp senses heighten further, which unfortunately makes him sensitive to high pitched noises and sudden flashes of bright light.
Wounds received in this form heal faster when he change back to his lion man form, and vice versa. He can stay in this form for as long as he wants without any ill effects, but the actual process of changing is a bit taxing, and he'd rather not perform it too often. A couple of times a day at most.

It was foretold at Kisasian's birth that he would grow to master the magic of the Savannah, but these powers have yet to manifest.

Battle Strengths: Kisasian's biggest advantage is his size and strength, and also the fact that he's been getting into fights since a young age, so he can do well in hand to hand combat. Were he to find himself in a gym, he would be able to bench 400 pounds with ease, sometimes more, sometimes less. His soft paws allows him to move stealthy and he can often sneak up on his prey before it notices he's there.

He's just as deadly with a sword as he is without. With sharp claws and jaws that can shatter bones he is not someone to underestimate. His claws are strong enough to pierce through most armor, shredding it as though it was paper. He has a faster healing rate than average humans. If he changes from one form to the other, the wounds will heal even faster. He's also grown accustomed to pain and has a high threshold before he buckles under.

His senses are well developed, his hearing enabling him to catch sounds coming from over 10 kilometers away. Kisasian's eyesight is about five times better than that of an average human, and he has outstanding night vision. His sense of smell is quite exceptional as well, and he can rely on it to guide him should his other senses fail.

Battle Weaknesses: Apart from his change into a pure lion, Kisasian possesses no magic skills at the moment, and should he ever face off against a magic user, he would be completely at his enemy's mercy. His only hope is to strike first, and avoid any sorcery thrown his way.

His developed hearing is both a blessing and a curse. Even in his bipedal form, loud noises can startle him and even leave him stunned for some amount of time. The same goes for bright flashes of light, and he is more easily blinded than a creature with poorer eyesight. Strong smells can make his nose burn and throw him off track.

While he's strong and agile, he does not possess much stamina. For this reason, he must keep battles short, lest he runs out of energy. His battle style reflects this as to conserve energy, but he still runs the risk of quickly getting exhausted. He's uncomfortable around fire and tries to avoid it as much as possible. It's an instinctual fear that doesn't go away completely even when he's on two legs.

History: The lion known as Kisasian began his life as a cub of the Valley Pride on the Savannah (it's capitalized because it's their entire world, y'know). Without siblings, and as one of the few males born since the current leader rose to power, Kisasian was a contender for the throne from birth. His position as heir was strengthened when the Pride shaman, Shiru, received a prophecy, declaring Kisasian a great king, with knowledge in the secrets of magic. Under his rule, the Savannah would enter its Golden Days, and much joy would follow. Naturally, when the Pride heard these news, they were both thrilled and honored to have such a powerful leader growing up amongst them.

Of course, not everyone can enjoy a good prophecy when they hear it, and all stories need a decent villain to show how the protagonist grows and evolves. In Kisasian's case, his sire, a magnificent male going by the name of Ral'tahk became his prime nemesis. Indeed, Ral'thak had grown accustomed to, some may even say corrupted by, the power he held as king. One might say he'd been out in the sun for too long, for never once did he consider his own mortality and the fact that he'd sooner or later have to step down from the throne. The newborn son was a threat, a promise of early retirement, and Ral'tahk would have nothing of that. That same night he exiled Shiru from the Pride, claiming that his prophecies were nothing but filthy lies, created to seed discord from within. By getting rid of the shaman, his youngest brood would not be able to learn magic, thus the prophecy could not get fulfilled.

As the years went by, the Pride began to notice the effects of the shaman's absence. The prey moved further away from the Valley, now that the shaman was no longer around to weave his summoning spells, luring them close. Cubs sired after the shaman's exile were born weak and most died within a year. Ral'thak, always looking to further his influence over the group of lions, declared this the work of Shiru, a revenge for his exile and further proof that the shaman was a rotten apple through and through. Of course, one could readily counter that this was the Savannah's answer to the king getting rid of a powerful mage and preventing the prophecy from coming to pass, but by this time, the lions, starved and exhausted, had no strength left to doubt anything their leader said.

Kisasian was a mere three years old when his mother first brought him to the hunt. A job normally delegated to the lionesses, but the lack of game made it necessary for everyone in the Pride to pitch in. That is, all except for their fearless leader, who was lazing about back at the den, sampling from the scarce food supply and doing his part to bring even more Pride members into the world. Back out on the Savannah, Kisasian studied his mother, aunts and various other female relatives until he figured himself fully taught. Sadly, his self studies were a bit lacking, and his very first gazelle got away from him big time. Luckily, he didn't spoil the whole hunt, and the lionesses were successful in bringing home some meat for the fire.

As the hunting party was padding back to the main den, the young prince heard a voice talking to him from thin air. A quick look around told him that no one else reacted to the disembodied voice. He couldn't be sure he hadn't gone insane, but then again, even if he had, the natural response would be to follow it as it asked him to. The young cub just had the time to wonder how you're supposed to follow something you can't see, when a faintly glowing orb appeared in front of him. Quite convenient, really. Even more plot convenient was the fact that none of the lionesses noticed Kisasian's departure. The light danced in front of him, tempting him to travel far away from his Pride.

Eventually, the light came to a stop. Ran out of juice, or something. Luckily, they were just outside the outcropping of rocks that now housed exiled shaman extraordinary. Yes, that's Shiru. Of course, Kisasian had never heard of the Pride shaman, much less the prophecy that declared him king, so it came as quite a shock to hear the whole story. It's not easy dealing with the news that you were chosen by fate to bring about glory and joy to all. By the time Kisasian had recovered, it had already begun to grow dark. Once he came to his senses, the shaman asked him if he was ready to answer the call of fate. Saying no didn't really seem like an option, fate is sneaky like that and the illusion that you should have some sort of choice is just a half assed attempt from fate's side to show some respect.

In any case, Kisasian was soon enough thrown into the school of hard knocks and king-ship. After all, if he truly wanted to return and take his rightful place as king for his Pride, he'd better learn how to take care of it as well. The lives and well-being of over forty lions is not something you toy with. Kisasian was taught in the noble skills of leadership, he was given knowledge of the stars and of the world around him, so that he always could lead his people to good hunting grounds. During this time he also learned how to take on the shape of his ancestors. It took some time getting used to, and the first few changes brought much pain upon the young lion as his body twisted and reshaped to allow him to walk on all fours. After enduring a lot of pain and hardship, he finally mastered the transformation, enabling him to change almost instantly. Along with the shaman, he attempted to learn other branches of magic, but with no apparent success.

Despite the fact that he couldn't use any magic to save his life, somehow he and his mentor decided that now was the time to act. They didn't have all of the criteria for the prophecy fulfilled, but hey, it'd been ten years since he left the Pride. Maybe Ral'tahk had dropped dead sometime during that time and the problem had solved itself? If not, Kisasian was hopefully still skilled enough to challenge the old geezer, and hopefully the magic wouldn't even be needed to reach the throne. Yes, they did indeed put all their metaphorical eggs in the same metaphorical basket.

If Kisasian had imagined any kind of glorious return, he was sorely disappointed. During his many years of absence, Ral'tahk had filled his subjects with more lies than you can shake a stick at. Besides exiling any and all virile males within the Pride, he had made certain to spin tales about the treacherous Kisasian, the harbinger of doom and destruction, and so forth. Any lion foolish enough to object was killed on the spot or vanished in some tragic but totally unpredicted accident. No wonder the Pride greeted Kisasian with mistrust, and you can't really blame them for tying him up and shackling him to the ground before the king either. Against all expectations, Kisasian was able to quote an ancient lion law that allowed him to challenge the king instead of the planned execution. Ral'tahk was miffed, but this was one law he couldn't break without losing face.

The Pride gathered 'round as the battle began. As epic fights go, this was a fairly average one, raging on for a few hours with both combatants refusing to step down. Ral'tahk had the experience, but Kisasian had the young lion strength that is so hard to come by these days. The younger lion's ability to take on the shape of his ancestors helped bring about an edge to the battle, awing many except the old king, ridden as he was by sweet madness. Eventually, the battle came to its end as Kisasian managed to rip out his father's throat. Bruised, exhausted and drenched in blood, both his own and that of his opponent, the young lion gathered his last strength in a ear shattering roar, signaling his new position as king.

The new ruler stayed with his Pride for many years, hunting with the lionesses, mating with the lionesses and in general enjoying his life as the alpha male. Shiru was allowed back into the kingdom and resumed his old role as shaman, living with the Valley Pride until he passed away due to old age, in Kisasian's third year as king. He was mourned by many and Kisasian refused to talk to anyone for days afterwards.

Under his rule, the Pride regained some of its lost territory and glory from before Ral'tahk, yet the Golden Days the prophecy had foretold didn't quite seem to be upon them. While some of the Pride members settled for a good life, others wanted the great one promised to them, and accusing whispers could be heard in the night. Where was the bounty promised to them? Why didn't the king summon forth this magic he was supposed to possess and lead them to glory? Kisasian was unable to answer the accusations, and after ten years of leading the Pride, he decided to leave it behind. Males loyal to him would take care of it in his absence, until they day he'd finally return with the magic promised to him by the fates themselves.

Kisasian wandered for quite some time, experiencing adventures no lion before him had ever even dreamt of. Eventually he came to a place most eerie. It was called the Dome, a place so filled with magic it made his fur bristle. He remained there for a few years, tutoring its inhabitants in the ways of combat. At times he went back to his Pride, making sure all was well. Once the Dome had a hold on him, it would call him back regularly, just because it could.

Other: While “real” lions live for approximately 14 years in the wild, Kisasian's race of lion men have a life span of up to 100 years. Lionesses tend to outlive their males by five to ten years. All males grow a mane, it usually appears around the lion's third year and can take up to six years to fully grow out. A three year old cub can be compared to a twelve year old human in terms of maturity.

The father of a cub is referred to as its sire. That makes siring the act of fathering baby lions. When a mommy lion and a daddy lion love each other very much...

Personality: Kisasian is in general a friendly and outgoing creature, although a bit quiet, and he can sometimes come off as a bit gruff to those that doesn't know him. It takes a bit to gain his trust, but once you have it, it's well worth it. He's protective over his Pride and friends, always trying to give a helping paw where it is needed. Being the father of many, he has a soft spot for young children, letting them get away with almost anything. He works well in a team, especially when he can be the leader. Hunting with his lionesses has made him appreciate the bonds made when you work together. During battle, he can become a bit arrogant, toying with his prey before striking.
He is well liked by most of his subjects as a selfless, warm person who never hesitates to put himself in danger for someone else's protection and who always has a kind word or comforting embrace for whoever might need it. His lack of magic is somewhat of a sore spot, and he can be a bit brusque towards those skilled in the subject. He is courageous but in a quiet way, as he doesn’t feel a need to show off the fact that he is stronger and more skilled than the average Joe, he's just your typical strong, silent type, the kind that always rides off into the sunset at the end of an old Western.
