Encountering Waterfall Elder

(OoC: This is my first character fiction.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Walking out of a door the Dome had created, Azura appeared in the forest near her hometown of Iron Leaf. The door then vanished after she stepped onto the forest floor. The sunlight was coming down in small beams, sometimes mimicking stars along the leaf and branch littered ground. After looking around for a moment, a breeze blew past her, carrying the greetings of the Elders to her.

The teen smiled, before walking through the forest. A speck of whitish-gray easily stood out from the swarm of green, as it hovered in front of her, a couple of feet ahead. “You came here earlier than I thought, young sapling…” The voice came out of thin air, but it was the orb that actually spoke to her, the only person able to hear it. “…Why?”

The Aura Master’s head drooped slightly and her voice had a tinge of sadness in it, “My teacher died… and I wanted to try and get over it,” images of what happened to her mother flickered in her mind again, only to be forced back once more.

The orb’s voice sounded ancient, yet had a tone of understanding to it, “I see… Come with me, I may be able to assist you in some way, little sapling.” With that, the gray orb floated off to its left, the female warrior following behind. It seemed to bob up and down in the air, but remained unaffected by the wind that swept through the branches.

The gurgling of a river began to pick up through the wind, while the floating orb continued onwards, actually floating through some of the trees. “Um… Waterfall - Elder? Where are we going… if you don’t mind me asking?”

“To my actual self.”

Oh. The gurgling got louder, which turned into a roar as she continued to walk closer to the waterfall, the source of the river. The waterfall itself seemed to be rushing past dark brown limbs of a giant tree coming out of the bottom of the cliff wall. It’s leaves were flashing a grayish green in the wind and water, as the branches barely gave way to the pounding water. The whole tree, shaded like a dark chocolate, was taller than the waterfall and cliff, it’s canopy must have been three feet above two. The cliff was around twenty feet high, with the raging water being a foot shorter.

It’s trunk alone must have been about ten feet wide at the base. It stood straight, yet there was evidence that it had grew into the rock wall, due to the large cracks around it. The wall itself looked as if it was trying to stop the growth of the tree, but had failed.

The female warrior stopped, while Waterfall Elder continued on, before it’s shape grew into the white buck she saw in her dream. It looked back at her, before speaking again, “You can come closer.” The blue haired girl slowly nodded, before walking closer to the massive tree, easily dwarfed by it.

“Wow…” She couldn’t even try to see the very top of the canopy, from where she stood at the base of it, Azura would have broken her spine if she did. The tree spirit just walked forwards, before jumping onto its hind legs for a moment, and pulled down a branch. The tree limb snapped off with an in-audible snap, due to the raging waterfall next to them. The dark brown stick was thin, but very long, about five feet in length. It was only about two inches in diameter, tapering slowly to the leafy tip, which seemed odd.

There were only four leaves, which were staggered and seemed to be parallel to it’s twin on the opposite side. Looking at them from the front, they formed the corners of a square. Waterfall Elder’s voice came out again, over the deafening rush of the water, as it walked over to the teen, “This should help you, but you must charge it first.” It’s voice echoed in her mind for a moment, before she reached out and touched the branch.

She saw that her aura had instantly sprang up, while the tree spirit in front of her glowed a pale gray. The branch in her hand and in the buck’s mouth started to glow both a sapphire blue and the same gray as Waterfall Elder. The female warrior felt some of her energy rush out of her, which caused the stick to change into a staff.

The white buck let go of the staff, and looked at her, “Are you feeling well, little sapling?”

She blinked once, before glancing at the tree spirit, “Yeah, I think so…” The teen looked at the staff in her hand, as her aura vanished. It seemed to have been carved in some places; vines seemed to twist around most of the dark brown wood, while the area around her hand had slate blue colored leather woven onto it, wide enough for both of her hands. The area at the base of the staff had spiral notches cut into it, while at the opposite end still held the four leaves, which glowed a faint blue among it’s original green and gray.

The Aura Master felt something else on her as well, and touched her right shoulder, feeling a band of leather there, that wrapped around her and ending at her left hip. “Hm…?” She couldn’t see it, but there was a light green vine coiled around most of the leather band on her back, it was designed to hold her staff.

Speaking into her mind again. That staff you now have should help you with your aura abilities, Azura. Since I’ve bonded myself to it as well as part of your aura, I can now travel with you, in order to help you learn. The tree spirit looked at her and seemed to smile at her, I can even assist you with learning about your earth manipulation as well.

The blue haired girl nodded, and watched the vines carved into the staff flash a light sapphire blue, before she flipped it onto the leather band. She felt the vine slip through her fingers as it automatically moved to hold the staff in place. The area seemed to blur according to her sight, before Waterfall Elder turned into it’s white and gray orb, before speaking, Maybe you should rest for now, we can start training tomorrow.

The teen nodded, before she began to walk towards the town of Iron Leaf and her home.
