The Beast Emerges CHAP.1 [Jasun]

This is chapter one of the Jasun story line. Please though, read the Jasun character profile before reading this, it's not very long I promise lol. Plus, it will help clear up any confusion. Also, feel free to comment.

Jasun

THE BEAST EMERGES
CHAP. 1

"Cough cough" 'Where the heck am I?' Jasun thought to himself. It had been about a month since he left the desert, he had stayed away from hunger by thieving what little he could from the few travelers he passed. He didn't like stealing from others, but desperate times. FLAP FLAP FLAP...Jasun looked up to see a rather large brown owl pass above him, heading through a small pass in the surrounding rock wall. "Wonder where it's going in such a hurry?" Jasun said in a cracking voice, his voice had faded from exhaustion. Jasun stood still for a minute, he could feel the sun beating down on his body, the metal shade on his head had even started to heat up. 'Maybe.....maybe I should follow it....' Jasun started down the pass and before long came to a large tunnel, carved out of what looked to be a giant tree that somehow had woven its way through the stone. Jasun remembered what his mother had once told him.

"Mother, why aren't there any trees where we live?" All of the sudden the young Jason’s mother spun at him, her blades whistled as they cut through the air, barely missing the quick young boy. "Good dodge, the reason there are no trees here is because it's the desert, if you want trees and such you should go to the forest." His mother wiped the sweat from her eyes. "Why haven't we been to the forest?" His question made the mother pause for a minute, honestly, she didn't have a real answer, so she said the only thing she could. 'Because no one in the forest has ever had a hit on their head...'

Jasun slowly faded back into the present, he was still just standing in front of the tunnel entrance, a blank look on his face. Memories such as that one made him sad, he missed his mother. "Maybe I can get some food in there, where ever there is..." Jasun started into the tunnel, which almost seem to fade into complete darkness, something Jasun was entirely too familiar with.

He emerges from the darkness on a large rope & plank bridge leading to what looked to be another tree tunnel. A slight breeze was blowing, it made him feel even worse, like something was immanent. "Well, this is....quaint..." "Yes it is..." Jason’s head snapped around so fast that he thought it had broken for a split second. There was a young girl standing there, with odd green clothing on, and perhaps even stranger, flamboyant green hair. "Who are you, and why are you out here little girl?" Jasun always did like kids. "I'm not a little girl, and my names Saria. I'm here waiting on someone..." The girl got a sad look in her eyes, Jasun noticed she was clenching some kind of oval shaped tan and green instrument in her hands, turning her knuckles white. 'I bet I could get some food money with that...' Jasun quickly discarded the thought, even thinking such a thing made his stomach ache.

"Right well, be careful, it could be dangerous." With that, Jasun started down the remainder of the bridge. "Welcome to the Kokiri Forest!!" Jasun looked back at the girl, now waving, although she still had a sad look on her face. 'Forest....' Jasun continued into the second tree tunnel, when he entered the darkness, he thought he felt something brush him on his side, but it was to dark to see, even for him.

Jasun could swear he heard music as he walked on the soft soil of this new found village. All in all, it was something of a culture shock for him, having never seen anything but gerudo women his entire life. Well, mostly women, he did see one male one time, clad entirely in black, thinking about that encounter made his stomach start aching again, so he quickly blocked the thought.

"Who are you?!?" Jasun turned his head again, not nearly as hard this time, to see another small child, this one had on similar clothes, but he had orange hair, covered by, what Jasun considered, was an 'amusing' hat. "Didn't you hear me? I said who are YOU!" The child started raising his voice. Jasun hated loud noises. "My name is Jasun, I come from..." Jasun stopped himself from saying the desert. "...outside." "Outside huh, well, you can't stay here, we've had something of an incident..." The boy looked down at the ground and grasped his arm. "What kind of incident?" Jasun asked, thinking that maybe it had something to do with the girl on the bridge, sometimes curiosity got the best of him. "Never you mind that, just know you can't stay here." The boy looked up at Jasun, a stern look on his face.

"Please, I just need to find some food, I'll leave after that, I promise." Jasun hated promising that, he wanted to stay in this new village, it seemed, peaceful, even though there was a melancholy aura in the air. "Food huh, well, up there that tunnel, it leads to the lost woods, you could probably find some mushrooms or something up there." 'Mushrooms? Is he serious?' Jasun thought to himself. He decided not to press his luck. "Alright, I'll go then." Jasun started walking off. "Hey wait, don't go too far into the woods, I'll come and get you when it's alright to come out. If you go too far, you might not make it out again." 'I suppose it's called the lost woods for a reason then...' Jasun thought to himself.

After climbing a few steep, but rather short, cliffs, he made it up to the tunnel, just as dark, if not darker, than the first two. After taking one last look down at the serene village below, he noticed that more children were coming out in the open, crying. He wondered why but, once again, he decided not to press his luck. He let out a deep cough before slowly taking his first step into the darkness, the lost woods.
