The Wishmaster

Wish One

His feet thudded needlessly against the ash as the bare skin became dirty, even gray. He winced, every muscle of his tendons and ligaments aching. The wings drooped far below their normal holding points, unable to carry him any further than he already dared hover. Surely it wasn’t much longer now. He left Evelyn back at the town, knowing he would have to do this alone.

”The Wishmaster… have to find The Wishmaster.” He chanted as he rose higher and higher above the town of Red Hill. Each time he said the name, it caused new resolve to course through his veins.

He had heard tale of the strange force that people had named “The Wishmaster.” Supposedly, in exchange for something, he would make whatever you liked come true, no matter what it was. That was the legend, anyway. Normally, Will would have wished for Amy to regain her life, but now there was something more important. Ever since he caused so many ruckuses in heaven, and had finally made the king angry, he knew he was being hunted.

Soon they would come for him, and he wouldn’t be allowed any second chances. It was goodbye wings and goodbye memory. Say hello to living the rest of your mortal life out on earth as a human. He recalled his last discussion with Evelyn.

“Will... do you have to go alone? At least let me come with you.” She pleaded, taking his hands in her own and squeezing them lightly. She did not want to risk losing him again, not so soon.

“No, Evelyn. I must do this alone.”

“But Will… if something should happen to you.”

“Don’t worry, Evelyn. I have to do this and I will return. I promise. Angels never die. Never.” He caressed her cheek fondly. “I will return. I swear it to you.”

“Alright… I love you, Will.”

The angel shook his head slightly as he approached the tip of the mountain. As he entered the clearing, he paused to take in the sights. A shallow pool of water, somewhat gray from the ash that swirled within it, stood in the middle, with no apparent leads to it. Strange. A rock, rather a large slab, balanced itself as it jutted out just over the water. The clearing was sheltered from view on all sides but the one Will had used to enter, pine trees towering over most of the barrier. A willow’s sweeping branches covered a large part of the pool, parting thanks to the outcrop of rock.

“Who has called me?”

He whirled around, breathing in short pants since the sudden quiet voice startled him. “Will… Will, the guardian angel.”

“Will. You have a wish?”

“Yes… I do.”

Just then, the ash halted its fall from the sky. Will nearly jumped from the sudden presence of a figure. It was a man; that much he could tell. The appearance was difficult to say, as he looked to be covered in a sort of tunic that split into an upside-down Y shape as it reached his hips, to reveal pants below it. It was almost like a skirt. The man was playing with something, something that looked like a rock, perhaps a piece of flint? He paused tossing it in the air to glance at Will, his piercing blue eyes causing the angel to remain silent.

“You know the rules?”

“You mean… I’ll have to give something up, right?” Will asked, watching the figure carefully.

“You know the rules. Are you prepared to give, even through the consequences?”

“I am. What is it you want in exchange for my wish?”

“Tell me the wish first.” The voice of the man whispered coolly, tossing the flint carelessly.

“Because I have angered the king of the angels, I am being hunted. There is a girl, a girl that I have learned to deeply care for recently. I don’t want anyone else being hurt by my actions. And these people hunting me won’t stop hunting me until I am dead. I don’t want the ones I love coming to harm because of those searching me out. Will you help me? I just can’t let others continue getting hurt for my deeds.” Will rubbed his chest sadly.

“In return, I will require something from you. Something that is of great value to you, perhaps the greatest value you own.” The figure waved a hand as he allowed his legs to dangle over the sides of the rock, pieces of shale falling into the water, sending ripples to the edges of the pool.

Slowly and regretfully, Will pulled from his sheath Rose of Sharon and kneeled, offering the blade with outstretched hands. “This is a great treasured possession of mine. Take it, and use it as you wish.”

“The price of the wish is fair.” A quick rushing sound, almost as if a great gust of wind sounded, and Will felt the blade lifted from his hands as he closed his eyes against the ash that swirled about.

Suddenly, he gasped. He glanced down, only to see the exposed blade of his sword halfway through his body. How? No, it couldn’t be. He placed both hands nearly on the blade, a trickle of blood emerging from his lips as they tried to form words, but merely gasped in shock. “I… I…” The crimson fluid from his wound began to soak his white tunic, forming a small puddle below him in the dark ash. He leaned back, teetering on the edges of life and death.

“Your wish… is granted.” Will looked up to see the figure standing in front of him much clearer, the angel falling down forward, but not quite dead. “Did you not say that they would not leave you be until you were dead? Well, now your problem is solved and your wish is granted. So be it.”

He chuckled darkly as the angel’s chest heaved; the last breath escaped his mouth as his eyes glazed over into death. Who knew where angels go when they die, well, one thing was for sure, he was dead now. Snapping his fingers, The Wishmaster instantly caused superheated fire to set on the body, burning it so he would never be missed.

A single feather escaped the wrath of the burning body, floating high over the sunset, symbolizing something that few mortals knew. The other pieces of feather were now simply part of the scenery, joining the rest of the flakes of bitterness.

“More ash for me.” He cackled softly, taking the sword from the pile of tattered clothing and bits of bone that still remained, and even those were slowly disintegrating. “Well, well, well. A new weapon. I suppose I can find a use for it.” He stated as he sheathed the blade through the side of his belt. A small, glimmering silver ring appeared on his belt, and the figure chuckled as he slid a finger over it. “The Wishmaster waits for the next dreamer to approach.” He tilted his head upwards, listening. “And we shall gain more.”

Wish Two

She sighed as she came towards the top of the mountain, unsure of what she was going to do when she met him. Should she bow? Or maybe just listen? Should she speak at all? She twisted a finger about her silvery braid as she thought.

He would listen to her, right? It wasn’t like he’d just ignore her. He had to listen to her. She told herself this as she approached the “x” on the map.

“This map had better be right.” She paid a lot of money for it, and she already knew what she was going to wish for. She entered a strange sort of clearing as the ash began to fall from the sky. “Hello?” Her voice echoed out innocently. “Anyone here?”

“Who has called me?” He asked, not visibly, but she could tell it was a man.

“My name is Carillon Caristo, sir.” She quietly replied, standing still as if in fear of being killed should she move at all.

“Carillon? Do you have a wish?” The figure approached from her left, and she looked over the man. He seemed somewhat cold, but a sense that she had never seen before came from his figure. It was difficult to pinpoint anything about him.

“Maybe.” She replied, tucking her hands behind her schoolgirl-like uniform and rocking back and forth. “What do I have to give you?”

“Tell me first what your wish is.” He took a few closer steps, analyzing her in return, until he was only a few feet in front of her.

“Well, you see, Mr. Wishmaster, my brother, a long time ago, disappeared during an act. I’d like to bring him back somehow. And I’m willing to give anything. As long as I can have him back, I don’t care what you take.” She said after a moment, flushing slightly. “Please help me?”

“What is his name?” The figure glanced upwards after saying this, and then back at her, suddenly appearing to have something in his hand, a rock or flint of some type. After a few moments of tossing it up and down, he allowed it to fall into the pool in the clearing with a plop.

“Christopher Caristo.” She said softly, seating herself across from him.

After a few moments, he did the same, bringing a finger down and tracing something in the ash, a symbol of some sort, or maybe a name? She barely made out an M before a soft breeze made it disappear.

“You wish to bring him back, then. And you don’t care about the stakes?”

“No. Nothing is too much to pay for this.” She said softly, her eyes downcast.

“Very well. Then I shall grant you your wish.” He responded after a moment, holding out both of his hands palms up. “Take my hands, and do not let go.”

She did so after a moment, and a burning sensation shot through them. She screamed out loud in pain, clenching his hands tightly in her own, doing as he asked. A sapping, almost as if her own life force was leaving her, shot through her body.

He released her hands, and she moaned as she fell forward. His hands caught her and allowed her to lay down. “Carillon Caristo. Go home. Your wish has been granted.”

“What… what did you do to me?” she whispered.

“I’ve reversed what began your troubles. Your magic is gone now. You may be what you’ve always wished to be. A family, with your brother. Go. And be happy.”

Carillon slowly sat up. “My… my brother?” She pushed herself to her feet, waving back as she retreated down the hill, a bit groggily. “Th-thank you, Mr. Wishmaster!”

A small silver ring materialized on the man’s fiery red sash, and he rolled his index finger over the cool metal. “Another one. Another one that belongs to us…” He chuckled once more. “Yes… I can already feel her power coursing through me. How delightful. The girl had good potential. However, I suppose it’s too late for her now. Her brother is back, yes, I reversed the process. Therefore, not just her brother is home. Her father is also back.” He laughed outloud as he watched her figure below running back to her demise.

“Who knows how many slaps she’ll get? I did what she asked, in the only way I know of. If they don’t want to make the wish, they should learn not to dream…” He coldly said as he watched her. “Soon she’ll get home to her brother and her abusive father… how I love what I do.” He retreated to the stone, awaiting in shadow until the next wish came his way.

Wish Three and Four

He listened with a slightly cocky smirk on his face, knowing why they came. Obviously, they wanted the same thing all the others got, a wish. He waited, drumming his fingers along the rocky surface of the boulder than stood out over the waters, peaceful as ever. The environment, beautiful as it was, contained more danger than a person would ever suspect.

They’re coming. Two.

“I know that,” he responded in a growl, irking one eyebrow towards an unseen force.

Do the same with them as you did with the previous ones. Soon you’ll get more to play with.

“Very well.” He grew impatient quickly, and began to entertain himself with tracing about the flakes of ash. It was a hobby he almost could say entertained him slightly. If there was such a thing as peace, he would call it peaceful, but the figure knew nothing of peace. He knew nothing of any emotions or characteristics, hardly even what they felt like. Even that was only at sparse times, and he didn’t know why.

Then the figure finally appeared in the midst of the ashen path leading to the pool, a woman that had a distinct punk look. He looked her over thoughtfully, not bothering to switch positions. “I’m guessing you have a wish.” For some reason, the man changed his speech when a woman came to visit him.

“Yes,” she stated, “if you can grant wishes, that is. I doubt you have that power at all.” Billie liked teasing individuals, and insulting them when she got the chance.

“Try me.” His tone was emotionless, but a twitch of his eyebrow showed Billie she had irritated him slightly. She didn’t care one bit.

“Fine. I’ve got a doozy for you. How about you show me my past? My past and my parents.” She extended the stakes, her arms crossed. “Show me the details about them and my past before I came to the orphanage and you’ve got a deal.”

“You like crossing the boundaries and being adventurous… what is it you will give me in return? That thing strapped to your waist. That will do just fine.”

“So how does this work? I just give you Ripshot? I don’t think so.” Billie replied, narrowing her eyes. “You have to uphold your side of the deal first.”

“Very well.” He walked forward towards her, hand extended. “I warn you. Take this hand, and you will know your past. After that there is little I can do… you’re on your own. In fact…” He chuckled after a moment. “I can transport you to your previous home. Where you were born. Is that what you wish?”

“Oh, yes. That’s perfect. Do that.” She nearly demanded it of him as she took his hand, finding his grip much warmer than she expected.

“Good… now you’ll meet your birthplace.” He stared directly into her purple contacts, his own eyes like swirling vortexes of flame.

“Ah…” She tried to remove her hand. “Let me go! I changed my mind! I want to stay here!”

“Are you so sure about that?” he leaned forward and whispered into her ear, “be careful what you wish for, my dear. Sometimes it comes true.”

“Let me go!” she demanded, pulling away. Her hand refused to part from his, heating up more and more every moment. “You said you’d show me my home!”

“And so I will… I never break a wish.”

The people below in the valley looked up as the screams and unnatural shrieks of pain reached their range. Even the children clung tightly to their parents, eyes wide with the fear that whatever forced the screams would be coming for them.

There was nothing left by the time the man finished his work. Her ash had joined the rest of the scenery. “I can always use more.” He shrugged as he buckled the new weapon, The Ripshot, into his belt, before noticing someone stood about ten feet away. As he turned to face the person, a small silvery ring appeared on his sash to join the other two. He faced her, and his demeanor slightly changed.

Her arms were glossed, decorated with lacy black gloves to compliment the rest of her clothing. It was short and yet beautiful, showing off her figure with the slits going up her thighs. Her eyes pierced his defense, dark blue in shade, enveloping anything that encompassed their paths. Her physical features rivaled that of an angel, wavy golden locks falling down to her lower back, but parted so half fell in the front of her corset-like attire.

“Who… what is your name?”

What are you doing? This is not the reaction I have commanded you to give.

“I am called Dark Selene.” A feeling of anger and bitterness came from her aura he sensed, seductive and almost sly.

“I see…” He looked over her for a moment. Something about her seemed to make him desperate to help her desperate mind. He didn’t show any emotion, but continued to speak, asking a question. “What do you wish from me?”

“… I am not a person. I have no purpose here…” she trailed off for a moment, hugging her arms.

“You want to be free, then… you… want something more?” he guessed, something striking him about her, making him for the first time he knew, falter in his thought patterns.

“Yes. I want my own body. My own person. To be stripped of this host. So I can be something more, and feel what I must feel.” She stared at him, secretly afraid. “Can you do this?”

He examined her a moment, and paused, slowly taking a step closer. “I can grant your wish.”

“You can? You mean this?” she repeated, her eyes pleading.

“I can. If this is what you wish. For a new beginning…” She nodded after a moment. “I want to please him. Crimson… know that I do this for us. Please. I want to be with you forever,” she whispered coolly with her eyes closed and head tilted downward.

“Your reality will not be the same. And there must be payment. Please. Know what you are wishing, Dark Selene.” His eyes remained downcast.

“I know what I want. I don’t care what the price is. Tell me. You will give me my own body. Completely new.”

After a moment he nodded, forbidden to discuss things for much longer among others, especially under such strong watch. The voice of the master spoke once more.

She has nothing of value. Not even her swords. Do not grant the wish.

“Dark Selene… I will grant your wish.”

I told you she has nothing of value… you will be punished for this… or perhaps… After a moment, the voice inside the man’s mind faded, and he knew that his master was simply watching. Perhaps interested in what The Wishmaster had up his sleeve. Then he did something he had never done before with a wish. He extended his hand towards her. “If you agree to this, Dark Selene, I will grant your wish, but know there is no fighting back…” His eyes sparked as he waited for her.

“I said any price was worth it. And so I mean it. This body will mean nothing to me. Take it and do with it as you wish.” Her tone was fearful, so much so she trembled as she said this.

Before she could stop her sentence, his hands snatched her wrists and squeezed tightly, buckling her knees and making her fall down into the ash. “I will take my part first, then.” Her clothes ignited into flame, but it didn’t burn her. They simply disintegrated from her body, leaving her completely naked below him.

She frantically scrambled to cover herself, looking up at him in shock. “What are you doing? You said…” she trailed off. It was much too late now.

“You said. This body will mean nothing to me. Take it and do with it as you wish. This is my price, and you, Dark Selene, agreed to it.” He began to approach her as she backed into the shallow ashen waters.

“No! I won’t allow this! I can’t! Crimson and I! We were going to be first… you can’t!” Stumbling over a rock in the pool, she fell back with a splash, scooting her body back until it was pressed against a boulder.

“You said yourself it was not worth anything. Don’t worry. You’ll have a new body to pleasure him with.” His shirt disappeared in a wisp of smoke, revealing his well-defined muscles. He leaned over her, pinning her wrists against the boulder’s rough surface and tilting his head down to whisper across her neck. “Enjoy this… after all… it’s your wish.”

*-------------------------------------------------*

He watched her stumble off wearing her pretty little pale blue dress, heading for town. He, although he didn’t know why, directed her to a place of which he knew where she could find some free food and board for a while. She had provided him with something that had indeed pleasured him greatly, he decided after a moment. He flexed his shoulders and cracked his neck. Somehow… it was a lacking victory, the first time he granted a wish he regretted. Why, he did not know.

He had upheld his part of the deal. After her struggling finished, he provided her with probably the “hottest” intimate experience she would ever have, and as he finally finished with her, put her into a deep sleep. Removing every aspect of her took a while, so he put a twist on things, as usual. He formed a new body out of the nearby water. That was simple enough. Water composed a lot of the human’s body, anyway. He absorbed every aspect of her magical fire skills, leaving her dancing tricks in her body. He had no use for those.

He made her body a near copy of the old appearance she had, out of pure admiration of her previous body… or maybe something else? He didn’t know. Being with her struck up strange things within him. Feelings, maybe? Who knew. He turned back to examine the host, who was also in a deep sleep, unsure of anything that had happened. She was beautiful, as well. However, she smelled of someone with strong capabilities. Maybe he’d meet the person. He picked her up and took a short walk to a cabin in the distance, laying her before the door. Hopefully whoever lived there was kind enough to take her in. He glanced at her one last time before feeling another ring materialize.

You are ready for more. He watched the sun begin to set in the distance. Soon… soon he would know more of the world.

This is great!! I love it!! It's totally different than what I expected it to be, and every moment is a surprise. I was literally on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what was next. It all seems a bit mysterious, and it's very exciting. I love this, and I would love to read more! Excellent work!!
