the Corrupt Pact

OoC:just a warning, this is kind of gory, with the whole neck biting and all that, also a bit scary, i got kind of nervous and looked around a few times when i was typing this. well it was 1:30 at night. just a friendly warning for younger viewers! without further ado(spl?) i give chapter 1 so enjoy!!! I am using Louis for this fic, link is in sig! i messed up on the title. the offical title is " Pact of the Corrupt"

BiC:Chapter 1

The wind blew slightly over the trees and made the dry leaves swirl as the guard patrolled down the dark cobble stone street. The guard carried a lamp stick used to light the lamps on the street and he was thankful to have it. Nettle Ville was a scary place at night. The only sound was the crunch of the dead leaves under his feet and his nervous whistle. As he reached up to light a street lamp, a dark shadowy figure slid past him from behind. The guard turned around swiftly and swung the lamp into the darkness. Nothing. He picked up the pace and his whistle was fast paced and rushed. He reached the next lamp and was about to light it when his candle suddenly went out in a gust of wind. Smoke rose like hungry snakes into the darkness and the red glow from the candle wick faded out. He spun as he heard a crash from an alley and he drew his short sword. He was shaking slightly now and sweat was dripping down his forehead.

“BY THE ORDER OF THE GUARD, COME OUT!” he warned timidly. He jumped but then sighed as a white cat sauntered out of the alleyway. Covered in a cold sweat and shaking slightly, he turned to continue to the last lamp. He had some matches and would have to light it by hand. He looked down in his pouch and pulled out a small box of matches and looked up. His heart went into his throat as he saw a dark cloaked figure silhouetted in the moonlit street. He looked down and stroked a match and a small hiss emitted from the stick as it ignited. He started sweating and shaking again as he saw the moonlit street empty. He dropped the match and the flame was snuffed out. The guard looked around and broke into a full run with his sword drawn in one hand and his matches in the other. His wide eyes looked from side to side, wondering what the thing could be. He bolted past the lamp, heading for a safe place, the guard house. He had it in his sights now and nothing seemed to be following him. He slowed down to a fast walk when he dropped his match box. He cursed under his breath and bent down to pick up his matches. Matches were expensive in Nettle Ville and Bellgate was too far away. He bent up and turned toward the guard house. His eyes went wide and tears cane from his eyes and sort of a half whimper half cry came from his lips. He tried to scream but his voice wasn’t working as the dark cloaked figure advanced slowly toward him. Just as the guard drew his sword, the cloaked figure lunged at him, slamming into him, knocking the air out of him. He still managed to let out a blood curdling scream as the cloaked figure grasped him and jumped with incredible height and speed to the top of a building. His sword clanged on the cold cobble stone street and a soft thump as they landed on a sturdy shingled rooftop. The cloaked figure threw back his hood and pulld down his face covering to reveal what looked like a 19 year old boy with deathly pale skin, black hair and Vampiric teeth. He had a beautiful face, besides the fact of the skin and teeth Glowing red eyes met the wide bloodshot eyes of the guard and a hiss came from the vampire as he plunged his teeth into the guard’s neck. All the guard could get out was a small “ugh” sound as the teeth sank into his jugular. Louis wiped the blood from his mouth and heaved the body onto his shoulder.

“Now to take care of the body” he said and threw his hood on as he leapt toward the forest.

Chapter 2. PERMANENT WARNING! this story contains a bits of gore and here and there.

The branches under Louis’s feet creaked and cracked as he launched off of them with incredible power. He saw a small clearing ahead with a large stump in the middle. Louis turned his head and stopped when he heard a noise behind him. Something was following him, but he didn't want to let it know he knew. Louis hopped down to a lower branch and continued on with the heavy body on his shoulder. He stopped suddenly and crouched low as he heard a long howl. He sped up until he reached the clearing. He layed the body on the stump and jumped into the trees and crouched as still as stone. The moon was full tonight, and the clearing was bathed in it. Louis’s hand started to glow with a soft red energy. He whispered into his cupped hands and he threw the energy out. Bats poured out of his hands continuously until a large flock of bats covered the sky, flying over the clearing, only letting patches of moonlight through. He looked down as he heard wood snapping and leaves crunching. A small werewolf smashed through the underbrush and looked around with big yellow eyes. Suddenly he heard something right behind him and hot breath on his back.

“Clever” Louis whispered and jumped high into the clearing as a large werewolf burst through where he was. He drew his sword and landed on the stump in a low crouch. The bats flew towards the two werewolves and they flailed their clawed hands around. Louis ran towards the smaller one in a low crouch and sliced the werewolf’s right arm. He howled in pain and jumped at Louis. This young one was too eager, and he would pay dearly for it. Louis did a simple roll to the side and plunged his sword deep into the werewolf’s back. A whimpering howl came from its mouth and it crashed to the ground. Louis grabbed the back of the werewolf’s head by the hair and pulled back his head and ran his blade across the throat. A half gurgling half cough came out from its mouth but nothing more. Louis jumped to the side as the large werewolf launched itself out of the tree and hurdled toward Louis. He swung as the werewolf crashed to the ground but it dodged the swing and lunged at him. Louis launched himself into a tree and sheathed his sword, then jumped out into the sky. Wings burst out of his back and his skin took a black burnt color. Blood red tattoos crept up from his hands like vines on an old tree up to his shoulders and long claws extended out of his fingers. Two horns extended out of his head into sharp points. His eyes filled with blood and he let out a piercing screech. He dove toward the werewolf and smashed into him head on. The werewolf yelped as the horns were driven into his stomach. Louis screeched as the werewolf punched him in the chest and he jumped off, a slurping sound came as the horns were pulled out of the werewolf’s stomach. Blood dripped down them and the werewolf clutched his stomach to keep from his guts spilling out. Louis lunged forward slashing with his claws, and the werewolf tried to shield his face but too late. Louis landed a slash on the werewolf’s face. The cuts ran all the way across his face. The werewolf ran away through the brush and Louis slowly started reverting to his normal self. He walked over to the dead guard and sucked out the remaining blood. It wasn’t much but he would take all that he could get. Then he took out two sticks of wood and a nail and a small mallet from a pouch. He pounded in the nail and instantly he felt the effect of the cross. His movements were sluggish and he felt a bit light headed, but he had to so this man wouldn’t become a vampire. He plunged the wooden cross into the guard’s heart and pounded it in. Then he pulled out a match and lit it. He lit the cross and soon he was ablaze. Louis threw his hood on and pulled up his face mask and stood away from the fire looking into the flames. He tensed as he felt steel at his throat and a soft voice spoke out.

“After all that, you are stupid enough to leave an opening?” a woman, who looked the same age as Louis walked out of the shadows and pulled her sword away, sheathing it with a quick movement. She had blonde hair and a very beautiful face. She wore black skin tight leather pants and a red leather shirt with a black leather vest over her shirt. She was very fit and she wore a red belt with a sword clipped to her side. Louis pulled off his hood and face covering.

“How are you on this fine evening Elizabeth?” Louis said bowing.

“I am doing fine Louis, are you ok?” she said in a soft voice. Louis always thought she had a beautiful voice.

“A few cuts and bruises, but nothing more. They are getting more and more reckless” he said kicking the blood soaked werewolf body. Elizabeth smirked and looked at the body.

“Or maybe you are just getting better” she said smiling. Louis smiled and looked at the ground. After a moment of awkward silence, she spoke up again.

“Vagor is requesting you come to him immediately” she said quickly.

“I’d better go than…would you like to come with?” Louis said adding the last part eagerly.

“Uh um no I have to go talk to Grant about my sword, something isn’t right. Will I see you around after?” she said.

“Of course” he said with a wink and he jumped up started hoping toward home with a smile on his face.

Chapter 3.

A small thump echoed across the courtyard as Louis dropped down from the tree line. Leaves swirled all around and his cloak rippled in the wind as he walked towards the set of large wooden and silver studded doors. Louis picked up the ring hanging out from the claws of a large silver bat. Three solid bangs rang out through the courtyard and the door swung open. Louis strode in and the door slammed behind him and he threw down his hood and pulled down his facemask. Louis ran his fingers through his short hair and sighed as he started walking towards the large set of stairs. People walked this way and that, heading towards their destination with purpose, only stopping to exchange a polite “Hello” and a slight bow before heading on their way. As Louis reached the top of the stairs and turned to the left he stopped as someone strode towards him. A woman a little younger looking than Louis walked forward and stopped in front of him. She had a pretty face and black hair and she wore an immodest outfit. Louis looked straight into her green eyes and sighed.

“Hello Louis how was your night?” she asked walking closer.

“I am late Roxanne, I don’t have time for this nonsense, what do you want?” he said brushing off a pine needle from his shoulder. She faltered but then spoke.

“Are you going to the ball tomorrow night?” she said twisting an end of her black hair.

“I don’t know, but if I do, I am going with Elizabeth” he said brushing past her and started walking up the stairs. Roxanne turned and walked after him.

“When are you gonna open up your eyes Louis, you belong with me” she said grabbing his hand. Louis suddenly went red with anger, seeing Elizabeth pausing about 20 feet behind them and suddenly turning away and walking in the opposite direction.

“How many times do I have to tell you? I don’t ‘belong’ with you. Just leave me alone” He said and tore his hand away from her to go after Elizabeth.

“You will be late” Roxanne said with an evil smirk. Louis cursed under his breath and turned and ran down the hall. He stopped in front of the silver reinforced steel doors and straightened his armor before striding in. Vagor sat in his throne reading a book. He slammed it shut as Louis stopped and kneeled down.

“Rise Louis, I keep telling you, you don’t have to bow to me” Vagor said and put the book down on the floor before standing up. He paced around randomly, his footsteps echoing off the marble walls. Vagor was dressed in a deep red silk shirt and a black cape with dark blue pants with a gold design running along the side of the pant leg. He wore two swords at his side and the silver handles glinted in the torch lit room. He had a handsome face, a bit wrinkled but nothing more. He had long straight black hair and red pupils just like Louis.

“Louis, have reason to believe the pact has been corrupted” Vagor said in a hushed tone. Louis stiffened and his eyes grew wide.

“Which one?” Louis said.

“The pact of the peacekeepers. It keeps the lords from trying to dethrone the king. It was made the Lords in the ancient years after the civil war to keep them from dethroning the king which would cause another civil war resulting in our race’s destruction. I was reading a book found in an old storage room to see if any valuable information was in it, and I came across something” Vagor said and paused a moment before reciting the information.

During the discussion of the peacekeepers pact, there was a disagreement among the lords. Three of them thought it would be better to have a council of three rather than a king. They voted and the three lord’s idea was rejected. So the three lords created a secret pact known as the Pact of the Corrupt. But they were found out and crucified.
Recently a friend of mine came upon a book that contained a list of names, all descendents of the three lords. I have found out that they have partaken in the Pact of the Corrupt and they know I know. I don’t have much time, so I will hurry. Here is a list of the descendents.

Lord James Deckeny
Mistress Hally Terran
Lord Katarn Tzeentch

I hear them outside the door; I don’t have time to write anymore names.

Royal scribe Laren bearet

Year 654 to (blood splatter)

“That’s all the value I got out of this book” Vagor said pacing around.

“Tzeentch, that sounds familiar” Louis said scratching his head.

“I am glad you recognized it. He is a ritualist down in the dungeons and recently has gone missing. His full name is William Katarn Tzeentch. I believe he is gone to look for the other descendents to get their help. What other reason would he have to leave? His supplies are collected for him and he has sleeping quarters” Vagor said waving his hands around. Then he came to Louis and put his hands on Louis’s shoulders.

“Louis, I am scared. I need you’re help. I can’t leave, or else it would cause mass chaos. I need you to seek out these descendents and destroy them. I give you permission to use whatever means necessary to eliminate them. But you cannot tell a soul of your goal” Vagor said. Louis swallowed and spoke up.

“Vagor, please can I tell Elizabeth? I want her to understand and I don’t want” but Vagor cut him off.

“Go ahead, if it will make you feel better. I understand” Vagor said with a caring smile.

“Thank you very much. I will leave after the ball tomorrow night” Louis said as he started walking towards the door and Vagor called to him.

“Louis, be careful. I couldn’t bear the thought of anything happening to you” he said and Louis walked out the door. He knew right where to find Elizabeth. Louis passed contless portraits and sculptures as he walked to the tenth window on the left wing of the castle. When he reached the window, he looked from side to side and opened the window and climbed outside. Carefully he edged along the ledge until the wall dropped back and made a small spot about 5 ft by 5 ft, large enough for four people to sit. He sat against one wall and let his feet hang down and Elizabeth stood leaning up against the other wall of the small square looking into the sky.

“It wasn’t at all what you thought it was” Louis said quietly.

“Is that so?” She said with a hint of irritation in her voice. He could tell she had been crying but didn't point it out.

“I was telling her how I didn't want to go to the ball with her and how I don’t ‘belong’ with her.

“Then who are you going to go to the ball with?” Elizabeth said folding her arms, and looking out over the forest.

“Well I was hoping I could go with you” Louis said looking up at her. He could see her tense up the way she did when she was flattered or embarresed.

“Well I guess I could forgive you and go with you” She said sitting down next to him and giving him a playful shove.

“I am sorry for whatever I did to upset you. Will you go to the ball with me Miss Elizabeth?” Louis said standing up and holding out his hand to help her up. She smiled and took his hand.

“Louis Condry, you are the nicest vampire I have ever met” she said with a smile. They scooted back to the window and climbed back inside. He helped her down and after an awkward silence Louis spoke up.

“I will come to you’re room to escort you Miss Elizabeth” Louis said. She giggled and kissed him lightly on the cheek and walked away quickly. Louis felt his cheek for a second and then headed towards his room, a large smile and a beaming heart all the way to his room.

well here is chapter 4, just before i go on vacation for the weekend! i will be back on monday. i will have a compy but it wont be mine so i wont be posting anymore chapters until i get back. without further ado, i give you, chapter 4!

Chapter 4.

Louis paced nervously outside Elizabeth’s door, waiting to escort her to the yearly ball. He had a dark blue button up shirt with a red coat and black pants with black leather boots. His coat had silver cufflinks and a stitched swirling golden design running down the front of his coat, entwining with the silver buttons. His short midnight black hair was slicked back and an amulet was around his neck. The chain was gold and silver, the precious metals alternating each chain link. The amulet was made of polished ruby and it had an emblem of a silver skull with black eyes and a bat made of gold on top of the skull. Louis stopped suddenly as the door opened and Elizabeth poked her head out. Louis felt like his heart was in his throat. She was stunning. She walked out and Louis bowed deeply.

“Wow Elizabeth, you are looking gorgeous this fine evening” Louis said. Elizabeth stiffened and she nodded.

“You look nice Louis. Better than that mask and hood” Elizabeth said. She wore a beautiful navy blue and a blood red dress and she had her slightly curly blonde hair hung down. Louis chuckled at her comment and held out his arm.

“Shall we?” Louis said with mock sophistication and held his head up. Elizabeth slapped him gently on the arm as she took his arm and giggled. They headed down to the main hall and on the way Vagor joined them.

“So, ha” he started to ask Louis but Louis gave him a stern look.

“Never mind, I will ask you later Louis. So I hope you two will enjoy yourselves at the ball, and try to steer clear of Roxanne, she is in a terrible mood and I don’t have the slightest clue why” Vagor said. Louis and Elizabeth laughed and Vagor looked confused. The three of them walked into the stunning ball room. Hanging from the ceiling was a gigantic chandelier made with solid crystals. People were scattered about the ball and a small group of violinist’s were playing some tunes. After exchanging pleasantries with people, the musicians started playing a waltz and everyone started to dance. As Louis and Elizabeth glided across the floor, Louis spoke up.

“I am really glad you came with me tonight” he said staring into her soft blue eyes. She smiled but tensed a little.

“I am glad you asked me” she said with a smile. Louis smiled back and they continued to glide across the floor but Louis kept glancing at the clock.

“Louis, if you aren’t enjoying yourself, just say so” Elizabeth said slightly annoyed.

“It’s not that, its, well I need to talk to you in private” Louis said and took her hand and led her slowly out of the main hall. They reached a bench in a deserted hall and Louis offered her a seat. She took it and he sat down in front of her.

“This isn’t easy so just bear with me” so Louis told her all of the information Vagor had given her.

“So I have to leave tonight. That's why I was looking at the clock” Louis said. She looked slightly hurt and a little confused. He hated seeing that look on her face and it pained him even more that he had caused it.

“I will meet you at the front gate at midnight” Elizabeth said, standing up. She hugged him and Louis spoke.

“Thank you for understanding. I know it’s hard. It seems like things were just getting good. See you in a while” Louis said and walked back to his room. Elizabeth stood there, a tear ran down her cheek.

“Things were just getting good” She said and walked back to her room.

The sun had set, and the entrance hall was empty, except for two people. Vagor stood with his arms around Elizabeth, who had streaks down her cheek. A dark figure slipped down the steps and came up to them. Louis threw off his hood, and he had a sympathetic smile on his face. she ran up and hugged him, and she started crying again.

“Don’t worry, I will be fine” Louis said in a hushed tone. She cried a little longer, and then he separated from her. Vagor opened one of the doors he had oiled so the hinges didn't squeak.

“I will see you again, I promise” Louis said looking into her eyes, distress seemed to radiate off of her. Louis leaned forward and kissed Elizabeth. after a couple seconds, he pulled away and started out the door. She grabbed his hand suddenly and pulled him back.

“You promise you will come back?” she said a single tear rolled down her cheek. Louis pulled out his amulet on the chain and unclipped the chain. He put it around her neck and connected the clip.

“I promise” Louis said with a wink. He threw on his hood and pulled up his face covering and ran towards the trees and launched off the cobblestone into the trees.

Vagor patted Elizabeth on the shoulders.

“Goodnight young one” he said and walked away. When she was alone she leaned against the doors and started to cry again.

“I love you Louis Condry” She whispered. As Louis jumped into the trees, he stopped as he landed on the first branch and watched her close the door.

“I love you Elizabeth Keat” Louis whispered and he turned and continued into the forest.

Hey, that's pretty darn good. I only read chapter one, because I'm getting kind of tired. Being tired + Reading doesn't work well...

Anyway, it definitely gets you interested in to the story... The setting definitely works with the vampire theme, so far. Kind of the suspenseful, creepy opening. Perfect. Better than my story, which was written when I was, sadly, tired.

Anyway, I'll read the other chapters a bit later... Pretty good...

yo! i am back from a sucky vacation to idaho, the most boring state evar!
Chapter 5

The moon was new and the night was clear but cold. Frost covered the plants and trees and long icicles hung from the snow covered branches. An icicle fell to the ground and shattered as a dark figure crouched on a branch high above the ground. Louis paused to check the map Vagor gave him last night. He said that he should start looking for James Deckeny’s descendent first. His name was Jaden Deckeny and he was known up in the north for being a master at mechanics. He lived comfortably at his fortress with his wife and sister. Louis wondered what Vagor thought was a fortress. Louis continued jumping speedily northward, frozen plains passed by and slowly frozen plains turned steadily into a frozen forest. Louis turned his head suddenly and crouched down low as he heard a twig snap. He heard a slight rustle on the forest floor and another twig snapped in front of him. These weren’t werewolves; they traveled at most in packs of two and these things sounded smaller. Louis ducked as he heard the whistle of a small arrow. Then he heard a hissing sound emit from the arrow that stuck in the tree. There was a fuse on the end of it! Louis leapt to another tree and was blasted forward as the tree where he was exploded in shrapnel of wood. Louis clung to a branch with one arm and he heard cackles as another arrow was shot at him. He let go of the branch and dropped down silently to another branch far below. Louis felt the blast of heat as another arrow exploded. Louis screamed and then crouched against the tree. The things came out of the bushes. Goblins. They were short, about 4 feet tall and had long arms and little or no clothing. They had rust colored skin and there tongue and the inside of their small mouths were gray. They had razor sharp little teeth, and they all carried bows and a small dagger. Louis smirked; his plan to draw them out had worked. They looked around, searching for his body. Louis was about to jump down to attack when suddenly another goblin came through the brushes. He was the same height but he had muscle and carried a gun with two barrels and a scope. The goblin also wore goggles and had a leather chest piece.

“This must be the leader” Louis thought as he looked at them. Suddenly the leader pointed to him and smiled. He said something in what Louis guessed was his native tongue and the others pointed their bows at him. Louis jumped up to a higher branch watched as the tree below exploded. Louis heard a cackle come from the goblin leader as he pointed at Louis. Louis grabbed a branch and swung down and landed in a crouch on a low branch and leapt forward to another branch as the leader pointed
A bony rust colored finger at Louis. He jumped and stuck to the side of a tree and pushed off the tree flipping to the ground. He landed in a roll and smashed into a goblin and Louis smirked as he heard the satisfying crunch of the goblin being crushed. Louis drew his sword and lopped off the head of two goblins in one clean sweep and rolled to the side as he heard the twang of bows being fired. An arrow thumped into a tree stump next to him and he pulled it out and chucked it at the goblins. He heard screams as the exploding arrow flashed in the cold air. Something grabbed Louis around the neck and tried to choke him. Louis ran backwards into a tree and a squeal came out as the goblin was smashed against the tree. It slid off him and then Louis heard the sounds of a gun being cocked. Louis ducked behind a tree and flinched as the shot rang out and the bullet bounced off the frozen bark. Louis jumped behind another tree as the second shot rang out and then jumped out onto the goblin leader. The Leader smacked Louis on the arm with the rifle and Louis winced from the surprising force of the blow. Louis’s fist connected with the goblin leader in the jaw and the silver spikes stabbed into the rusty flesh. Then he picked up the goblin by the collar.

“Who sent you, and I will let you live” Louis said, pulling down his mask showing his teeth to the goblin. Goblin blood was horrible, but it helped to get information to threaten them.

“It was a v” but his sentence was cut off as a shot rang out and the goblin’s head exploded. Louis wiped off a chunk of goblin flesh from his face and dropped the headless goblin. Then he turned his head to see where it came from but he saw nothing.

“So much for information” Thought Louis as he stood up and pulled up his bandana. Then Louis saw something move out of the corner of his eye. He turned and saw a robed man with a mask on carrying a rifle. The mask was made up of what looked like a light metal and was shaped to look like a face made of gold. The robes were royal blue and he didn't have any visible feet. Louis jumped towards him and the man jumped into the trees with ease. Louis followed and the man hopped from branch to branch. Louis reached for him and grabbed the tale of his cloak. That was all he needed. He grabbed with the other hand and swung the man around impaling him on a frozen tree branch. Louis ripped the mask off to reveal to glowing blue eyes in the middle of a head full of gears and wires. Louis ripped the guns from the gloved hands and smacked the head of the mech in frustration. His two leads were a headless goblin and a broken mech. He heard a humming and the head started to glow. Louis jumped to another branch and a flash blinded him momentarily and heat blasted across his face. He was about to throw the gun and the mask into the forest when he noticed something carved into the mask and the rifle. In fancy calligraphic lettering it read

“J D”

Louis threw the gun away but tucked the mask into a pouch. This was as good as any lead. So Jaden Deckeny knew he was coming. How? There could be someone working for him as a spy.

“Probably Roxanne” Muttered Louis. He chuckled to himself as he imagined Elizabeth and himself laughing while Roxanne was locked in a small cell with wild dogs for her crimes.

“Elizabeth” Louis sighed. He pulled out a necklace from under his shirt. It had a lock of her hair held together with a strap of leather. He kissed it and remembered when she gave it to him. It was his second time out alone and Louis had been reckless and let himself be seen one night as he was heading back to the castle. A little boy followed him and Louis killed him. But he didn't dispose of the body and the humans had found the body near the castle. The vampires had almost been found out and Louis had to tell Vagor he had let himself be seen and didn't dispose of the body correctly. Outside the large steel doors he sat in a cold sweat, fearing the wrath of Vagor. Elizabeth came to him and sat next to him.

“We all make mistakes Louis” Elizabeth said with her soothing voice. That was the first time he had noticed her voice.

“But I made a huge mistake. I almost got us found out. I am a failure…” he said sullenly. She pulled out a small knife and cut a small lock of her blonde hair and tied it with a piece of leather rope. She put it over his neck and hugged him.

“For good luck” she said and walked away quickly. Louis had received 15 lashings and his traveling alone privileges had been revoked, but he just went out with Elizabeth, so in a way it was a good thing.

“For good luck” Louis said to himself and tucked the lock into his shirt.
