The Neko Style

OoC: Despite the name of this thread, it is wholly based on Zorlo's training, the reason the title makes sense is because Zorlo's master is a Neko. Bah, here goes. This story takes place in the six years Zorlo spent training with his Master Kurenkento.

Chapter 1: Becoming an Apprentice

BiC: It had only been three days ago that Zorlo's home had been destroyed by the by a group of soldiers from the Martiland army, and only two days ago was he saved by a masterful warrior called Kurenkento. The boy followed the man to his home and pestered him for two days about wanting to be strong like he was. Finally, on the second day, the man decided to challenge the boy.

"Boy," Kurenkento said as he looked at the boy, "if you truly want to become my apprentice, I'll have to test you."

"Test, why?" The young boy asked.

"Because, I cannot just have anyone becoming my apprentice, first I shall ask you some questions, and after that, I shall decide if I want you to take the test. First, what is your name boy?"

"Zorlo."

"Zorlo, nice name. Next, why is it you want to be strong."

"Because I never want to see people killed like my mother was."

"Good, now then, I shall begin the test," the Neko said as he peered at the boy.

Zorlo examined the Neko, who stood at over seven feet, without the ears. He wore a shirt of green dragon scales and wore basic white pants. His hair was white and he wore a white hat that looked like an American Civil war hat with an eagle feather sticking out of it. He had a belt that had a rapier and many short swords and bucklers attached to the belt, Zorlo was impressed by these. He looked like a cat person, and Zorlo could not help but ask, "Sir, why do you look like a cat?"

The Neko laughed at the question and answered. "I look this way because I am a Neko, a cat demon. I, unlike most demons, have taken a liking to humans, and hate to see them used for horrible things like slavery. I will take you as my apprentice and teach you my style of combat if, and only if, you can complete a test I have for you. I will give you a short sword, and you have to survive in this forest for two months. Do you understand."

"Yes, and I will, anything to help others from ever feeling how I felt when you saved me."

"Good," the Neko said as he thrust a short sword into Zorlo's hand. "When the two months is up, I shall find you, and if you are alive, I we shall get to work."

"Yes sir," the boy said as he left the house and walked deeper into the woods. The boy examined the surrounding, over a two week period of time, he slowly learned basic skills in living. Zorlo learned where the foods he can eat were, what animals were dangerous and what paths took him into dangerous areas.

After the first month of Zorlo's training, the fencer saw the boy training himself in survival fighting style and watched him use it as the boy was attacked by a small lizard creature. The creature was small and green, it looked like a small dinosaur almost, and had many roes of razor sharp teeth. Zorlo used a trap he had laid and when the creature stepped behind him, a cage fell on it and trapped it.

"Thats the third time this month you've tried that," Zorlo said to the creature as he looked at it. "Didn't you learn your lesson last time I caught you? I'll let you go again later when you aren't awake." Zorlo walked away from the caged creature and moved away.

Impressive, he knew it was following him and set up a trap for it. Also, his compassion shows he is a good person and loves life, very good. Just one more month, survive that long kid the Neko fencer thought as he watched the boy walk away.

The next month passed amazingly quickly for both people, as Zorlo began to hope it was over and Kurenkento was hoping that Zorlo would survive. On the last day, near midnight, something attacked Zorlo beyond what Zorlo could handle. The creature was a monster from the shadows, and waited for the boy as he took shape. this creature took the shape of a human except he was purely shadow. He struck at the boy and knocked him out before Zorlo even realized what happened.

"You will pay for hurting my apprentice," Kurenkento said as he appeared. "Now return to the shadows from whence you came." After the Neko said this, he drew his sword and launched an enormous blade of air that split the demon into eight pieces and scattered them into the four winds. "This boy has succeeded, and now I will make him powerful. I have been ever so lonely since my last wife died. Please don't make me regret taking you as a trainee."

Edit: OoC: Eh... oh yeah, comments are welcome at any time.

Since on one else has said anything good job Zorolo. Umm make some more but this time have some real kind of in detail training part.

Like here is a part that you wrote: After the first month of Zorlo's training, the fencer saw the boy training himself in survival fighting style and watched him use it as the boy was attacked by a small lizard creature.

You could have how the young fencer leaned this survival fighting and what it is.

One more thing is that you could have in the part before it here:"Yes sir," the boy said as he left the house and walked deeper into the woods. The boy examined the surrounding, over a two week period of time, he slowly learned basic skills in living. Zorlo learned where the foods he can eat were, what animals were dangerous and what paths took him into dangerous areas.

You really could have told how the boy came to lean this. Really what you need to do in your next one is put more detail in how the fencer came about leaning what his is to learn next. And yes I know the only reason that you are doing this is because you said sorry to a nameless person but you could do a little better. What I found wrong is you like to time up a lot in this. You don't have to do what I say because after all, I'm not as good as you are went it comes to grammer, but I think you should. I hope this help a little and I would like to see the next one.

Ok, make it more descriptive, I had plans to. The reason this one is vague is because the time intervol involved a lot of thinking of stuff. Most of the remaining training will be more detailed and focused on what Zorlo is learning and how the training works.

Chapter 2: Learning the Ropes.

Zorlo awoke the morning after his master rescued him. His mind was filled with wonder about what had happened, but he didn't have the courage to ask his master.

"Zorlo," the voice of the Neko called. "Time to begin training."

Zorlo opened his eyes and looked at his surroundings. He was not in the forest where he had been knocked out, but rather, in a small house where his master lived. The house was small, only one room. It had a large bed that covered one whole side of the building, where Zorlo was lying at that point. The side across from the bed was where the door was, and on both sides of the door were windows, small square ones that were broken into four smaller squares. The left side of the room had an old oak table that had various weapons and armor that were placed upon it. Amongst these weapons were a pair of short swords that caught the boy's attention. The right side of the room had a fire place. Atop the fire place were two pictures, both of children.

The boy got off of the bed and walked over to the table where the weapons were lain out. Zorlo grabbed the one of a pair of short swords that his eyes were drawn to. The short sword's hilt had a ruby at the end and the appearance of a hunting tiger is drawn into it. The sheath was awesomely decorated with a Neko with two short swords about to go into full charge. The sheathes color was red and the Neko was outlined in black. Zorlo then examined the other in which had a golden ball at the end of its hilt. The sheathe had the reverse colors of its twin and Zorlo admired them both greatly.

The giant Neko entered the room and looked at the boy. He noticed that he was examining his blades and he told the boy, "You really like those blades, don't you?"

"Y-yes master."

"Good, one day I will give them to you. Happy you like them. We need to get to your training, you have much to learn today."

"Y-y-yes master."

"Calm down. Don't be so worried, you will be fine."

Zorlo left the house and looked at the trees in the forest where Kurenkento lived. Zorlo was amazed by the size of the forest, and by what he had found. Kurenkento emerged with his hand behind his back and walked behind Zorlo.

"Like the scenery, eh Zorlo."

"Yes master, this place is very serene."

"Very good, but it is time we began the first part of your training." The fencer Neko led the boy deep into the forest and the two stood in front of a large tree. "Now then, time to start. Your first training will be to climb to the top of this tree, and I will be timing you."

"Yes sir. But one question, why?"

"I shall be teaching you using the regiment my father made me go through. It is designed for Neko's, but I can use this training to also see what method of training I can use to help you to grow stronger during this training." It has been over nine hundred years since my training, hope I recall all of what I have to do.

Zorlo looked at the huge tree and began looking for where to begin. His eyes were looking for something to grab so he could begin his assent. The Neko walked up behind him and rested his hand on the boy's shoulder.

"One thing first," Kurenkento said as he drew a short sword. "Turn around Zorlo, I want to use this tree to measure how tall you are. I'll be doing this every two years. You will understand why two years shortly." With a quick swipe, he left an indent in the tree and Zorlo looked at where he stood. He was barely over four feet by this point, and in comparison to the giant Neko who was his master, he was rather weak to. "Get to work," he roared as Zorlo returned to trying to scale the tree.

Zorlo grabbed a knot on the tree. He began grabbing random spots on the bark, trying to find the right position in order to climb. He made it only a few feet the first time up before he slipped and fell. He landed on his back. He dusted himself off and got back up to try to climb the tree. With each failure, Zorlo rose and tried again.

***
After twelve hours of failure and countless falls from different places, Zorlo finally reached the top. "I've done it," he roared down to his master.

"Very good, now, time to get back down," the large Neko said.

"How, I spent, God knows how long to get up here, and now you are telling me to find my way down."

"Yes." He shows great potential and iron hard determination. Guess the next test shouldn't be so easy as my second test was. He'll be fine though.

OoC: Comments are still open.
