The Chronicles of Kandred
Chapter One: A Long, Hard Think.
Kandred stood on the desert plain outside the Battle Dome. the wind swirled sand across his scarred face. Sckitter had gone inside the dome to look for new worlds whilst Kandred stood like a statue in the featureless desert. A grey willow tree stood next to him on his left, and behind him there was a small camp fire that he had lit. Kandred had made the fire with Baronstones, and he had a few in his pantaloon pockets. a bird skimmed through the air passed his emotionless face. he could just make a figure out on the horizon. it seemed to be human, but of that Kandred was not completely sure. Kandred had been thinking about his parents and how he had killed them. he yelled a cry out into the twilight that began to change day into night. "Greenhaaaaaaaaaaaaaall!!!" To alert the wanderer that he was here, Kandred levitated a stone in the air and shot it at the human. Kandred hoped that the stone had landed next to the human and not dropped short or gone too far. Kandred stood there, witing for the figure to fade off into ther distance or to come closer. Kandred Could not bother to stay longer. He put out his fire, and went into the Battle Dome. He Walked through the halls, took a left down a corridor, then he took a right, then another, then a left. He came to a door, he opened it, and walked out onto another world. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~ Chapter Two:The Crimson Aura Part One Kandred stood on a rocky plain, wondering about his avility to deviate flame and air with such ease. Maybe I should become a mage. He thought. Sckitter came into view on the horizon, Kandred flew towards him, eager to hear about the happenings in the Battle Dome. When the two companions met, they landed on a knoll. "What has passed?" Kandred asked, he then noticed a scratch on Sckitter's chest from one breast all the way down to his hip. "There... was another...dragon...like me. I tried to befrined it..." Sckitter stopped and coughed up blood, and then said in his deep voice, "And it tried to kill me, so I fought it. It had a...human companion...who gave me this to...give to you." Scitter spun around to show a thwowing spear lodged in his back. Kandred pulled it out, and snapped the pole in to. "What did he want from us?" "It was a female...the human and...the...dragon was to...they were both...female." Kandred picked up the spearhead, it had an amulet lodged in it. Kandred clawed at it with his claws and then eventually rent the spearhead open and pulled the amulet out. The amulet was steel with orbs of amber studded into it. "What was the human and dragon's name?" "The...human was...Gueneala...and the dragon...Venisean...the...dragon said that...the amulet was meant for...you by...inheritance..." "Where did you meet them?" "By the...shore...it's just four...leagues northwest...of here...they said that...you were...The Crimson Aura...and...they knew your...name..." "We must set out for the shore as soon as you have recovered." But Sckitter did not heal. He was in deathly pain for another month, and was continuously coughing up blood, and he was finding it hard to breathe or talk. "Will you be able to travel to the shore?" "No...I will not." "Can you stay here by yourself?" "Yes." Sckitter had agreed to stay in the rocky plain whilst Kandred went on to the shore. Kandred left at the dawn after the night of the agreement. Kandred crossed mountains, plains, lakes, desert, and any other concievable terrain. Kandred had Made a chain of iron and had the amulet hanging from his neck. He had found some cloth and made a scarlet cloak for himself. He began to think about his parents and Sckitter, and then on the fifth day of his travels, Kandred saw the blackly garbed skeleton again. It stood on a rocky pillar in the ruins of a once thriving city. This time it wore a black cloak and wielded a bastard sword. Kandred faught the omen for a day and a night, until finally, he slew the undead vermin. Kandred ripped the skull of the neck of the body, tore a large hole in the bottom of the bone, and donned the skull as a helmet. Kandred burnt his skin on his face and let it melt together with the bone, untill the skull was irremovable, it was part of his face. At the back of the skull-face he rent a hole to pull his red and white hair through, he then put his ork helmet on, and put his hood over his face. He looked into a pool of water and unmasked his face from his hood and orc helmet. He saw anelf with a skull for a head, and a fearsome sight it was. He pulled of his cloak and grabbed the rib cgae. He ripped the arms and legs off of it and put it over his torso. He then melted his skin to the ribcage untill it was unmovable. He donned his chain mail, and then his cloak. from the remaning bone of the skeleton, he fashioned a staff, with an orb of bone atop it. In the orb there were small holes all over it, and inside the orb there was a flame whitch Kandred had deviated. "I am now Kandred Omenarmour, and also the Crimson Aura! I shall find the Badgerden of Greenhall and destroy their lives, homes, and their land. I shall raise mountain to dust, and greenland to unhospitable desert. I have chosen this as my life, and I will live it in pain and unexplainable horror! Greenhaaaaaaaall!" Kandred unfurled his wings, which he had learnt to use to fly. He glided over the land untill he came to the sea, and he began to fly over that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~ Chapter Three: The Terror of the Tides Mizu slowly regained bits of her shattered consciousness, stirring slowly from her long slumber. She looked to her urn. It was completely unharmed. Mizu then realized that she had no clue where she was or how she had gotten here. She stumbled up, painfully, and ran about the tough, leathery material. In the middle of the ocean, on a gigantic creature...? Looking around the back of the creature, she saw a gigantic horn, assumably above the creature's head. There was pretty much nothing but flat skin...Except for the two figures in the distance. Mizu could not make them out, but there was another behind her. Mano flew across the vast ocean, in search of a Leviathan Athena had told Mano all about. She said that he would meet someone there, and that Mano would have a battle. So, he followed the directions she gave him, and flew across the ocean, until seeing the large creature. Mano landed on it, and made the Orb appear in his hand, but in the form of a gladius. Just then, a figure assmelbed itself in front of Mano, and he looked at it cautiously. Kandred flew over the sea, and saw a leviathan swimming through the waves. He unflamed his wings, and landed, leaving his wings high. He had landed next to an Atlantean by the look of it. "Are you frined or foe?" Asked the man. "Friend, and foe. I am Kandred Omenarmor, I have rent my life into The Alliance of the Auras, I will live it in pain and in unimaginable horror." Behind the man there stood a girl, who appeared to be just as confused as the man infront of The Crimson Aura. Behind the girl there stood another form, which Kandred could not make out. Mizu gulped from her great urn. "It's up to you whether I'm an ally or not. I am Akiraka Mizu. I am the one who made liquids, and, since the beginning of time, my ancestors have fastened water securely over all planets, all dimensions. What is your name, youth?" she asked. Nathan groaned as he awoke by the midday sun, he wearily sat himself upright and rubbed his eyes. He had a vague memory of the night before, he had been on a ship when the storm struck and... That made him jump. Nathan immediatley began to check his body, finding his quarterstaff strung on his back and his clothing wet, but unscathed. He himself had several bumps and bruises. He took a moment to survey the surrounding, he was on a big blue mass, and in the distance a horn was erected high into sky. The substance upon which he stood was leathery and rather slippery. Nathan processed it for a second...and came to the conclusion that he was on a leviathan. He wasn't surprised to be beached upon such a behemoth after the storm, but nonetheless he was alive. He glanced around one more time to see others - two people - in the distance and hailed them "Hey!" Kandred walked over to a human that had just woken. "Hey!" "Hello, What is your name?" "Nathan." "Will you help me fight these two others?" "Yes." "Then let's fight." Kandred grabbed his Bone-staff from his belt. He pointed his staff at the girl infront of him. "Flame!" A ball of fire shot from his staff, but it just sizzled and went out when it hit the girl's skin. "What are you? Wind!" A gust of wind shot forward and hit the girl in the chest; she tumbled back. A man with a gladius walked passed the girl, who was getting up. The man jumped forward and hit Kandred accross the helm with the weapon, it bounced off, but tore his hood. Kandred swung his fist passed the man's face and hit it with his gauntlet, then swung his staff, it colided with the gladius. "With a blade you are proficient, but, withot a blade, are just as strong?" Kandred twirled his staff in an arc, and knocked the gladius out of the atlantean's hand, it landed on the leviathan's back with a dull thud. The gladius turned into an orb, and then reappeared in the atlantean's hand again, just quickly enough to block another arc of Kandred's weapon. While the water-girl watched Kandred and the atlantean fight, Kandred spun around to face her. "Wind!" the girl was knocked over onto her side, then, Mano's Orb came crashing down on Kandred's arm, leaving a deep cut. "Aaargh!" Kandred swung his staff at Mano. A ball of water splashed into Kandred's eyes, he reeled back. "Your turn." Siad Kandred to Nathan, panting. Nathan ran forward, swinging his Iron Quarterstaff around violently. Kandred nealt, watching as Nathan fought the two enemies. after Kandred had regained his energy, he yelled out to Nathan, "Duck!" Nathan ducked, dodging a swing of Mano's gladius. "Wind!" Mano was bowled over from the gush of air, then Nathan jumped up, directing his attacks towards Mizu. A serpent of water rose from her ancient urn and it struck Nathan in the neck. He tumbled backwards, but Nathan shook it off, jumping back up to his feet. He struck blow after blow at Mizu, barricades of water shooting up and trying to stop them. Meanwhile, Kandred lifted the urn off of the ground, and slowly brought it towards him. Mizu saw the urn floating out of the corner of her eye, just as Nathan's quarterstaff impaled her stomach. As soon as Kandred was a foot away from the urn, a geiser of water shot up from it, in the form of Mizu Akiraka. Nathan, confused now more than ever, ripped his quarterstaff out. The clone burst into water and wrapped itself around him. The water then froze itself. "When a fool touches my urn, I kill the fool no matter what happens," Mizu said, reaching around Kandred's neck with her hands and squeezing. Kandred gasped for air, and cast a wind spell. Mizu was knocked straight towards the horn of the leviathan, her urn landing on her back. Kandred, meanwhile, struggled to break free of the ice. "Let me help you with that," Mano said, taking up his newly formed hammer to help the water spirit in fighting these two. He smashed through the ice, but as Mano was about to throw his hammer down again, the quarterstaff cracked him across the face. Mizu, yards away, was already up and running. She made 6 clones of herself, turned them all into water, mixed them up, reformed them, and attacked. A clone of Mizu went to where Mano was fighting Nathan and, since Mizu can shift her consciousness around her clones, thanked him for the help. "Now, let's end this battle," Mano replied heartily. Nathan assisted Kandred to his feet quickly before they dodged the onslaught of clones, the forms bounded against the leviathan and reformed again to reear and attack once more. Nathan grunted as his quarterstaff ripped through one, only to have it regenerate. He growled, "I can't hurt these things with my quarterstaff!" he hastily turned his attention to Mano, "Kandred, I'll leave these to you, let me take care of this one!" Kandred nodded, "I'll try and find the conscious of Mizu. GO!" Nathan roared as he lunged forward, swinging his spear violently overhead he charged at Mano and swung a mighty blow towards his head...only to be met by a sword that his orb had created. Nathan cursed as he pushed off and landed a few feet away. "Your orb...has the ability to create objects." "Perceptive," Mano crowed as the sword grew longer "It also grants me the ability to dispatch of you!" he cried running towards Nathan, who brought his weapon up to block just before his sword met. The shock was so great that Nathan was forced to backflip to recover himself. Meanwhile, Kandred was ripping through all the clones with furious effort, trying to find the real one before it dissipated. Each swing was followed by a battle cry, and water met steel on the back of behemoth. Kandred jumped back from the clones, putting his jands behind his back, and began charging a larger air sphere than he ever had made before. It was the size of Kandred, and he threw it. "Wind!" It hit all of the clones and they all fell back, splashing, and then one remained, the real Mizu. "Wind!" Kandred threw another large sphere, and Mizu daged it, and the shot hit the back of the leviathan. The ground beneath them shook, and the leviathan began to dive. "Woah!" Nathan yelped as he was shook forward, and he slipped down the watery skin of the leviathan, Kandred grabbed his hand to stop the human falling off into the sea."Hang on!" "I will!" "No you won't." Mano walked up to Kandred, "Neither of you will." Mano kicked Kandred in the back, and he and Nathan slid into the sea. Kandred reached his hand above the suface, and murmered into the water, "Air." he pulled a ball of air into the sea, and made it grow in size, until Kandred and Nathan could both fit inside it. Kandred launched the air down to the bottom of the sea, and it connected with the ground. Nathan and Kandred flaoted in the water, and Kandred drew some air from the surface towards them at an extremely fast speed, and the air pushed them to the bottom. Kandred and Nathan swam into the giant air buble the Kandred had created, and sat on the rocky sea floor. Kandred pulled a seaweed plant from the ground outside the buble, and grinded it into a powder, laying it in a pile inbetween the two fighters. He lit it with flame. "Well at least we have warmth." Said Nathan with a grunt. "Look!" Kandred pointed at two figures swimming towards their buble, it was Mano and Mizu. When finally Mano was close enough, he yelled. "Wind!" Kandred shot a buble of air at Mano, Mano was caught in it, and he rose to the surface. Nathan stood up and grabbed his quarterstaff. Kandred stood up also. A few metres away from their buble, a tall point of rock stood, jutting out of the sea floor. It cracked in half, and the leviathan swam through the debris. Kandred and Nathan grabbed onto the horn, and did not let go. When they reached the surface, Nathan and Kandred gasped for air, and let go of the horn. From their position, Kandred and Nathan could see the leviathan's single eye, and its mouth with thousands of teeth. "You wouldn't want to get hit one of those teeth!" Said Nathan grimly, a voice came form behind them. "You wouldn't want to get hit by this either." It was Mano, his Orb was in the form of a broad sword, which he swung at Kandred... Mano's broadsword was blocked by one of Kandred's gauntlets, and was punched back by his other. Mano flew above the leviathan, and turned the Orb into a bow. He pulled out an arrow, and aimed at Nathan. He let the arrow fly, but it was knocked away by Nathan's quarterstaff. Mizu was on the leviathan's back, and was taking control of the surounding water. She made arcs and geysers of water burst out from the ocean, and fly towards Nathan and Kandred. The two warriors jumped onto the leviathan's back, barely dodging Mizu's attacks. Mano rushed at Nathan, and turned the bow into a quartestaff of his own. He took a hard swing at Nathan, but was blocked by Nathan's quarterstaff. Mano then jumped back, and turned the Orb into a larger staff. He swung back at Nathan, and sent his quarterstaff flying away. Mizu, seeing Nathan weaponless, shot bullets of water at him. The bullets cracked against his cheeks, sending ripples of pain etched across his face. Mizu then made a spear of water, and kept adding water until it was sharp, thick, and long. She sent it straight to Nathan. "Fire!" a voice called from behind the two, Mano and Nathan. Mizu turned to see the prick who stole her urn standing proudly. The fire melted her ice completely. "Beat tha-" Kandred stopped when he saw Mizu's grin. The water, which was by now around Nathan and Mano, was slashing and whipping at Kandred. He could barely do anything but block, and one managed to cast wind, but it the seemingly rubber tendrils of water just wobbled around it and struck even more. Nathan, seeing his companion being assaulted by the vile sea witch, rushed to his quarterstaff. He jumped and slid on the slippery skin, grabbing at it. He got it, and slid towards the tendrils. One by one, he dispatched the vile things. "Koitsu," Mizu whispered beneath her breath, rearing up a ball of water. The water began to spin around and around, soon going so fast that she could not contain it. It sloshed about wildly, so she let it loose. It drilled itself into Kandred. He was thrown about an eighth of a mile by the drill of water. "Kandred," Nathan yelled. Kandred, though, who tried desperately to stand, lifted his Bone Staff to cast a fire spell. The spell burst into Mano, whos skin seared. His hair also caught aflame. Mizu, though, put it out. He lay on the verge of consciousness. "Witch!" Nathan yelled at Mizu, smashing her with the butt end of his staff in her stomach. She slid along the skin of the leviathan, coughing up a bit of blood from the ferocious attack. "Why do you care about him? It's not like you know eachother!" Mizu screamed, whipping Nathan across the eyes. He clutched them, screaming in pain. There was a huge scar across his temple to his eyes, to his other temple now. Mizu once again imprisoned him in water and froze him. Kandred broke the surface of the water with his fist, and floated out of the water, his Bone Staff floated back to his hand. "Flame lance!" Kandred's right arm flamed into a giant lance, and he unfurled his wings, flamed them, and went soaring towards Mano. Kandred landed on the leviathan, and his wings spread from Mano to Mizu. Kandred's wings unflamed, and he directed a gust of wind at Mizu with his wings, "Wind!" Mizu fell back in a heap. Kandred swung his Bone Staff at Mano, and hit him across the face, he then swung his lance at Mano, but a serpent of water rose from the sea and put the flame out. "Fire!" Kandred melted the ice around Nathan, who charged Mizu. Kandred realised that he had now to fight Mano. The Orb of Mikashi was now a hammer, which came crashing down on his head. Kandred stumbled from the jolt and fell, meanwhile Nathan and Mizu were fighting. The water witch had made herself a sword of ice, and was fighting Nathan with it. Kandred raised his hand in the air, and yelled, "Flame! Wind!" an orb of white and red swirled in his palm, Kandred had grabbed a handfull of sand when he and Nathan were submerged, he pulled it ot of his pocket, and threw it into the orb of fire and air, the sand set to glass, and the fire and air were still trapped inside. Mano had caught his opponent unaweres, no was his chance. his hammer struck Kandred in the side of the head, and knocked him over, Kandred stood defiantly, clutching his head. The Orb turned into a scimitar, and stabbed Kandred between his ribcage armour, through his chainmail, through his skin, through his own ribcage, through his heart, and through his spine. The Crimson Aura was slain that day. Kandred gave a final gasp of air, and he fell, sliding off the back of the leviathan. He sak=nk into the merky depths, and there he ley, on the floor of the sea. "Kandred!" Nathan yelled, turning to only see the ripples of water where Kandred had slid into the sea. Kandred felt lifes grasp take hold over him, he was not slain. He unfurled his toren wings and swam faster, beating them furiously. He got ot the shore, and dragged himself along the sand. He stood, and looked at his surroundings. In the distance he could see the leviathan in the water, and is submerged itself. Landwards, there were flats, covered in grass and plants. Kandred walked up the shore, and began to walk along, Bone Staff in hand. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chapter Four: The Crimson Aura Part Two In the nights to come, Kandred dreamt of a lady, his age, that rode a dragon, in the dream, she said: “Kandred Omenarmor, The Crimson Aura. You have inherited a dragon-tear from the gods. You have mush untapped power, and with the Auras you will be of great might. Heed my words, as I will not call you through dream again. Travel to the dunes of lost city. There you will meet a boy called Bagan. Together you will form The Alliance of the Auras. I am Gueneala, your sister, I am four years older than you, and I am an Aura also. Find the lost Auras, they shall be able to use magic, but will not completely understand their power. To the dunes of lost city, take flight!” and take flight he did. “Time for my new form of travel.” Said Kandred with a snarl. A pair of angel wings sprouted from Kandred’s back, and they set on fire, and he flew with great speed. Three days later he saw a grouping of sand dunes, and he flew towards it with haste. When he arrived at noon, he saw a ruined city at the center. He landed atop a pillar and obseved his surroundings. Kandred saw a child a few blocks down and flew over to greet him. Kandred unflamed his wings as not to scare the boy. "Who are you?" said the boy. "I am Kandred." Replied Kandred, revealing his skull-face. "Are you human?" "No. I am an elf, and i suspect you are Bagan." "I am, sir, but may I ask, how did you know my name?" "I was told by an Aura. I am the second of the Auras, and I am The Crimson Aura. What powers have you?" "I, I can shapeshift into a hawk, and I can also render myself invisible." "Show me, the invisibility first." "Yes sir." Bagan pointed his arms at the sky, and then disappeared. "Reappear." Said Kandred orderingly, and Bagan reappeared infront of him. "Now show me the hawk." "Yes Kandred." Bagan's entire body turned white, then changed into a giant hawk, with a wingspan nearly the same size as Kandred's. "Good, very good. You shall be The Hawk Aura." "Thank you sir. I don't have any weapons, shall I need some?" "Yes. Take this, is was my father's." Kandred tossed his short sword and sheath to Bagan, and then threw the sword belt. Within minutes Bagan had fastened his sword belt around his waist and buvkled the sheath with the sword in it. "Thank you Crimson." "It was a pleasure, Hawk. And welcome to The Alliance of the Auras!" "May I come with you back to Sckitter?" "How did you know that was where I was going?" "I can sometimes read minds, Crimson." "More suprises, eh?" "Yes sir." "You may come with me, you would make good company." Bagan smiled. he proceded to change into his hawk form, but kandred spoke, "Stop changing." Bagan obliged, and he was now a boy with brown wings. "See? Now you can just stay like that and unfurl your wings when you want!" "You are a very wise man, Crimson." "Perhaps I am, but I've never been called wise before." "Well I think that you are." "Thank you. Would you like a cloak?" "No thank you." "Okay, we should be off now to get back to Sckitter, he is wounded." "I know." Kandred gave a little chuckle, and unfurled his wings. Night passed and dat came, and Sckitter came into sight, they landed next to him. "Who are you...Kandred?" Sckitter was looking alot sicker han he was before. "Yes, it is me." Kandred pulled back his hood and pulled his helmet off. "What have you...done to...yourself?" "I have become The Crimson Aura, and htis boy, Bagan, is The Hawk Aura, or Hawk." "I am...dying...can you save me?" "No, all I can do is let the pain pass swiftly." "Please...Kandred..." Sckitter raised his head up until his nose touched Kandred's Skull-face. "Remember me...and don't...fall into darkness...don't...become evil...can you...promise me that?" "Yes, I vow by the dragons'-tears. I vow that I will not fall into darness, to become evil." "There is good...in this world...a world that...we are part of...release that good...and destroy all...malice...that the world holds. Only then will I grant you my blessing...now...please...swift the pain...away." Without a word, Kandred levitated a stone above Sckitter's forehead, and then shot it into the dragon's forehead. Kandred's dragon-tear glowed scarlet, and it burnt Kandred's chest. Kandred tried to remove the chain, but it tightened around his neck and he couldn't get it over his head. Kandred was strangled to near death, and fell to the ground, writhing in pain. "Crimson! Wake Up! Crimson!" Kandred awoke to the sound of Hawk's voice. "What is it?" "There's an army of men marching at us, I saw them from the air whilst I was hunting." "What are there numbers?" "Twenty thousand, at least." "When will they reach hereAnd are you sure they are coming for us?" "Yes, they were marching to the beat of a troll beating a drum, and the commander yelled, 'The Crimson Aura shull be dead by nightfall!' and he was sounding very serious and angry." "We can win, we can do it." "How? How can two people kill over twenty thousand well trained and armored souldiers?" "We can't. But us and an army can." "Where will this army come from?" "The dens of Greenhall." "But I thought you hated the Greenhall Badgerden!" "I do. But if they had not passed my house so many years ago, then I would not be here now." Kandred's face went from grim to grin. "And they will answer to me. I am like a saint to them, though I did kill quite a lot of their kin. They look up to anyone that has more fighting prowess than them. We can make it in time, trust me." Kandred and Hawk unfurled their wings, and flew to the mountains. When they arrived, at noon on the third day, the could only see the army of men on the horizon. The two Auras walked through a tunnel that had been dug by the Badgerden, and then finally they got to their destination. The gloom of the caverns took a while to adjust to, but eventually Kandred could see. He stepped onto a stone podeum with Bagan. "Greenhaaaaall! Hear me!" Every last Badgerden looked his way. "I am Kandred Omenarmor, The Crimson Aura, and this is Bagan Hawk, The Hawk Aura! We come for your help. An army of men, twenty thousand in numbers, marches for me and my companion, to slaughter us. With your help, we can defeat them! Now, let us put our differences aside. I am of skin, you are of fur. But we must jojn together, to foil this force's attempt to crush our freedom in this world, to let us unite under one banner, let us fight as kindred spirits!" In the minutes that followed, there was much commotion, then, a Chieftain stepped onto the stage. "Oi agree with Crimson and Hawk! Le' us foight soid boi soid, unoit under one banner! Greenhall!" Much roaring of agreement folloed, and then the Badgerden Chiftain spoke to Kandred, "Look 'ere, you've much nerve to cumm before us'ns and talk wid us. But you are roight abou' wun thing: we must foight for our freedom. Moi best elites will accompany you and 'Awk 'ere, they will take any command you give 'em, so will the rest of us, 'cept me, o' course. All of us'ns will foight to da finish. Every single wun of us'ns is foightin'. We will mee' you two uns at the south gate, evey last one of us'ns is the soize of a fully gown man a' least. We all will 'ave armor and sturdy axes. Now, le' your blood not spill." "And you two, Chieftain." "The name's Gej." "Then, I honor you, Gej of Greenhall. Let your blood not spill." Kandred and Hawk met Gej at the southern gate of the mountain. They looked out over the flats that lay before them, a few deer and faun stroled accross the plains, bounding over stones and rocks. Twilight took the world, turning day to night. "When do we march?" Asked Kandred. "Now, and we must do it quickly." "They are close now, we should ride, have you any mounts?" "Yes. Wolves. They are all suited for Badgerden, but, we could foind one yer soiz." "Good." "Cumm wiv me. Us'ns should should get a move one." Gej said in his gruff voice, walking off over the rocks. Kandred and Hawk flew over him, and landed when they got to a cave, full of wolves large enough to carry a troll or Badgerden. Gej led him to a wolf the right size for Kandred. Kandred hopped on, grabbing some reins. Gej jumped on the largest wolf there, and then pulled out a troll-sized cross bow, and fitted a tube into it. "What's that weapon you have there, Gej?" "It's a Badgerden bow! Very sophistica'ed machine. See this tube 'ere? It'd be full o' bolts, i' feed da bol's into va bow, pulls back the string, fires the bolt when you pull dis trigger, an' then pu's anova bolt in. And, if'n you hold the trigger down," Gej held the trigger back, pointing the bow at the flats, and one bolt shot out after another, and fired twelve bolts in three seconds. "Amaizing! Do you have any my size?" "Yes! An' you'd loik i' alot zurr. 'Ere!" Gej threw a Badgerden bow to Kandred, and also threw three bolt tubes to Kandred, who fitted a tube in, and fstened the others to his belt. A few minutes later, the elite Badgerden came up to the cave, mounted their wolves, fitted their boiws, and gej yelled a single word: "Charge!" they all bounded down the mountainside, grwoling, and then Kandred saw the army of Badgerden run out of tunnels in the side of the mountain, they all were bearing a sword or a spear, a sheild, and had a Badgerden bow over their backs. Every last one of them was on a wolf, and they met the army of men in seconds. "Greenhaaaaaaaaaaall!!" They charged into battle, aimed their bows at the sky, fired, holding the trigger down all the while. Bolts flew into the air, in the thousands, and came raining down upon the humans. When they had all used their bolts out, they hopped of their mounts, and fought on foot, whilst the wolves ran about slaughtering the humans and then eating them. Kandred found a bolt tube, and fitted it into his bow. he looked around for any survivors, but found none. On the way back to the mountains, something grabbed Kandred's leg, and pulled him down. The man stood up, and stole Kandred's bow. and then stabbed Kandred through the schest with a short sword. Kandred gasped for air, and fell down. He had nbot been killed though. He stood, and saw the man limping towards Hawk. Kandred tried to yell out to Bagan, but could not speak, jsut a moan came, but no one heard. The man crouched, and aimed the weapon at Bagan's head, Kandred sprinted, and jumped over the man, taking the last thirty bolts of the tube to the gut, he stifled a scream. Hawk spun around, just to see his frined be slain. "Kandred!" Hawk swooped upwards, turning into his hawk form. He screiched, and flew down, biting the man in the neck with his powerful beak, in a slit second, the man managed to grab his dagger and stab the hawk in the neck. The mighty birnd and man lay there, in a pile of death's cold embrace. "I pity you, Kandred. Being killed by your own weapon, but I honor you, you saved someone else's life by sacrificing your own." Garenjin the demigod of elves nealt over his body, and removed the bolts from his gut. "You will be weakened, but remade. Your abilities with fire and air will remain, but your memory will not." Garenjin lifted Kandred's form onto his back, and flew upwards to the top of the highest mountain in the Greenhall mountains, and lay Kandred on a platform of granite. On the platform a circle was engraved, with a triangle in the middle of it. Kandred lay in the triangle, and Garenjin pulled out a dagger, and placed the tip of the blade in the middle of Kandred's chest, and slid the blade downwards, towards Kandred's lower torso, and drew a map of the stars on Kandred's torso. Garenjin then flipped the dead man over, and began to continue the map on Kandred's back. When the map was complete, Garenjin pulled out an urn and poured divine water over Kandred's blood died form. Kandred's body glew, and Kandred rose in height, and a dark mist came over him, and turned into a grey cloak. Kandred's hair no longer in dreadlocks, but in fine, ghostly white hair, with crimson streaks. Kandred stood, and did not remember a thing. right then, Kandred's entire previous life flashed befor his eyes, and he began to climb down the rocks. The divine water had ran into the scars made by the dagger that Garenjin wielded, and they shon midnight blue. Kandred eached the bottom of the mountains, and began to walk the earth once more, weakened, but remade.
