Inuyasha... to be continued?

This may be old news, seeing as it originated in July.
The anime series "Inuyasha", which was discontinued several years ago due to the manga still being in progress is now going to start up again. Seeing as the manga is finished, they have decided to finish the anime adaptation from where it left off. It's to air in Japan on October 3rd, this year.

That's not the only thing this topic is about however.

I personally believe that Inuyasha as a series has been under-appreciated by a lot of people. Yes, it has many fans, but a lot of the people who run in my circles stopped bothering to watch/read it because of the main fanbase it has. A large majority of the fanbase is just... stupid. They write yaoi fanfics, like the series only because a character is "hot" and generally cannot use proper grammar.

You shouldn't let these fans get to you, however. The series does have its own good qualities that a lot of people don't pay attention to.

For example, there are multiple subplots that are all very profound and at times heart breaking. These subplots definitely give the series its own personality, because even the minor characters are given purpose and background. The characters all have depth--depth that gives them a reason to be doing what they're doing now. In a lot of anime the protagonists are fighting the bad guy merely because someone told them to, or it's the "right thing to do". They don't actually have a personal reason for questing the way they are. One would argue that this is selfishness, but I think it makes you want them to succeed all the more.

Yes, it's a long series, but you can tell the characters gradually develop through-out it and change over time. They learn from their adventures and in the end reach an inner peace they didn't have before. To be honest I'd rather watch a long anime where the characters develop and change than a short, 25 episode one where they don't learn anything at all from the challenges they faced.

It's not just the characters or the plot though, the series also has enough action in it to satisfy anyone who would watch it. They battle a foe who constantly grows stronger and have to learn to bring up their own strength, rather than being over-powerful from the start. Throughout the series everyone gains new skills and abilities and better their knowledge on how to fight. It's only natural that they'd face harder foes, each time.

However, I'm going on far too long on this.

The series is far more than meets the eye, and I want to know what you personally have taken from it. What are your opinions on it?

This is a discussion on what makes this series good (or bad), and all the things that many people overlook.

Never really cared for this series. Ranma 1/2 was all the Rumiko Takahashi I needed.

Ugh, Inuyasha is a terrible show.
In fact, it's one of the series I commonly point to as "don't do this if you do anime".

>_< I used to watch Inuyasha a lot but now, I'm tired of it. I think the only people that will enjoy this news are people who are die hard Inuyasha fans.

I'm not much of a fan but didn't they kill off that one villain, Naratsu, in a movie?

Don't know if you are joking or not but Inuyasha was a dude not a girl or transsexual.

The movies aren't canon.
The Inuyasha show has a good two seasons of filler in it because the manga had not been finished yet. They wanted to give the fans something, so they forced out some fillers. I must admit that I enjoy a good few fillers here and there. But if every other episode is a filler it gets rediculous.

I have seen the first two episodes of the Final Act of Inuyasha and I love it.

For those of you who dislike Inuyasha because it "drags on", I gaurentee that you will enjoy this one a lot more. There's no bsing in the middle of an episode. It's fast and to the point. It's much faster paced than the series has been so far, and they're going to wrap it up in 26 episodes.

Don't knock it till you try it. Consult google for the English subbed episodes that have been released so far.

I for one, want to see it.

Even though the story could have been alot better in PArt One, I still find myself wishing to know how it ends.

The third episode is released on Saturday. You can almost gaurenty that when you wake up on Sunday (Eastern US time) there will be an episode up on a website with English subtitles. There's this one fansubbing group that's doing them right now and a couple others have joined in. I can understand a bit of Japanese myself (I used to take it as a class in high school but I never finished because I had to switch to French) and the subs are accurate enough.

Viz Media obtained rights to it, so it's probably going to be dubbed over with English voice actors, but you have to expect to wait awhile for that.

How far are they anyway?

I know I will watch it. Inuyasha was good from time to time, but the filler killed it to death.

I'll admit it, I'd watch it. It's kind of my dark secret that I like that one. Kind of like a metal head who secretly listens to Maroon 5 and Bowling for soup when no ones around.

:< I like Maroon 5.

Also, a lot of people on forums I know like Inuyasha but pretend they hate it for some reason, and you know they're faking it. Especially the people I've known for several years who used to have Inuyasha avatars/signatures.

They didn't grow out of it, they just went with the crowd. Pft.

Inuyasha did not suck as a concept. It's just the filler that sucked. The characters and plot were actually good.

I actually like maroon 5 to. I actually enjoyed the filler as well as the main plot line. A good anime style "go nowhere fast" romance, it was a good stereotypical anime, all the way down to the anthromorphic furries.
