The First Anime You Watched

We've all gotten hooked onto Anime one way or another. The question is, which Anime got you hooked into it? I'm talking about the first one you ever saw in your lifetime.

Mine was Dragonball Z. Awesome Anime, awesome characters, amazing fights, amazing plotline, everything about it was just amazing. I've seen every episode of the entire series, but I was never really into it up until the Android Saga came out on Toonami on Cartoon Network. Yep, I was about 7 or 8 when I started watching it.

That's my story. Now, discuss.

Pokemon. What else?

Well, I'm not HOOKED on Anime. I find a lot of it over the top and waaaay to out-there. (A ninja in an orange jumpsuit? Seriously?)

The first series I watched all the way through was Gunslinger Girls. I really did enjoy it, allthe way through. I never knew Anime had such depth=, it was like watching an animated soap operah. ('Cept with guns, robots and lots of death...)

Not really seen any other Anime series that tickles me in that way. I watched Full Metal Alchemis all the way throug, but it only really got good at episode 25. It gave the sense that anyone could die. It may sound slightly sadistic, but thats how I like it.

i got hooked on Anime when i Saw Ghost in The Shell.

I'm not the biggest anime fan out there. Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh were the only ones I watched as a kid, and I wasn't familiar with the term anime. I hate Pokemon now and I love the original Japanese version of Yu-Gi-Oh, and I have now seen Trigun, which is awesome. I'm going to find some other animes to watch.

Dragonball Z. I'm still impressed by how fluid some of the fight scenes are. (when they aren't yelling for 5 minutes that is.)

Speed Racer. You know, when anime was actually great to watch.

Sailor Moon, when I was little. Totally had all the dolls.

Being older, I really liked Cowboy Bebop and watched a few episodes of that on TV, but the first series I actually sat down and completely watched was Full Metal Alchemist. I just love it so much. I haven't really found another anime that I enjoy watching as much as I did watching FMA.

The first anime I watched was Pokemon.
It was a good show. They kind of over did it though. They got to let these things die. Nobody likes those shows that overstay their welcome.

After that, the only other Anime i watched was Full Metal Alchemist. To this day, it is the only one I will watch and enjoy.

This is strangley similar to what I was going to say... apart from the Bepoping Cowboy part, I've never seen any of that.

I reckon, yeh, Sailor Moon would had to have been the first I watched and just so happened to be the first I liked. After a while I grew out of that,(probably because it stopped airing on TV) and got into Poke'mon (the real one, with Ash, Misty and Brock), big time. I bought the figurines and hung posters on my walls. I watched it every morning before school, without fail, and noticed and admired shapes of Poke'mon in broken panes of glass. Poke'mon played a somewhat signifcant role in my childhood though I never did get into the video games or cards.

Recently, after a large gap without anime due to the maturing of my taste in fiction, I began to watch Full Metal Alchemist as to have something else to discuss with my anime obsessed friend.

Sailor Moon was some days after DBZ, really. It was a weird obsession I had as a child, next to Spider-man, of course.

Pokemon was on much later, but I recall watching those three as a kid.

Pokemon first. I also watched DBZ, but I stopped watching after Maajin-Buu (or however you spell it) was in for a few episodes. I felt they overdid it. Later I stopped watching Pokemon, too. (They really are over-milking that franchise.)

Then I stopped watching anime for a loooong time, until one day there was nothing on at 12:00 AM on Saturday night and I decided to watch Death Note. Despite me having almost no idea what was going on at first, I was somehow hooked. That reminded me of how awesome anime can be.

I suppose I first started with Dragonball Z and Pokemon, though I eventually fell out from those...

I watched a good bit of Inuyasha, because the first few episodes seemed dark and unique but as the series went on it became far too pointless and repitive.

I watched a bit of Naruto, stayed with that for awhile but again I slowly died out.

I'm currently following Bleach, this time staying involved by weekly reading the manga's (meaning that I can read a manga, get pumped up, die out, then when the next one comes out, pumped up, repeat) and so far I've stayed with this once.

However, I've also begun to look into the action oriented ones; Azumanga Daoih is a clever little show, about 26 episodes long, comical, clever and absolutely brilliant!

Best opening ever! Its like taking acid without the harmful effects!

Seems like a lot of good animes are 26 episodes long. Azumanga Daoih, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop.

DBZ. I thought it was the world.

I think it was pokemon. That or DBZ.

I do remember coming home from school and watching DBZ with my friend. So I think it was DBZ that got me hooked.

Sailor Moon and Naruto. My mother got me into Sailor Moon and I started watching it. Then, I found Naruto.

Believe it or not, Sailor Moon was my first anime, back on old-school Toonami. What drew me to it I have no idea. However the one that truly made me a fan of anime and say "holy **** this is awesome" was Outlaw Star.

I believe the Animes that got me into Anime was "Serial Experiments Lain", "Silent Mobius", "Banner of The Stars", and "Crest of The Stars".
