Yu-Gi-Oh Thread: Yugi/Yami vs Yusei!

(I know the logo's a little big) Yeah, I'm surprised I never made a thread on this anime until now. I've been a huge fan of it for a long time. :]

Favorite character besides Yugi and Pharaoh Yami (those two are epic, okay? XD Plus, they make a pretty cool and sometimes funny pair. ), is Joey! He's just too funny. Plus he's an awesome duelist and one of his duels takes the cake for my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh duel ever. The one he did against Valen (sp?) where they went head to head armor vs armor. Totally cool. Joey had the coolest armor too, Red Eyes Black Dragon armor!

Oh, btw, I know Yami actually means dark in Japanese and that he's also called other things (he said so himself in one of the episodes lol). But I've gotten too used to the Pharaoh being called Yami, 'kay?

Okay. I've been watching quite a bit of Yu-Gi-Oh lately, namely the Yugi episodes. When Yugi and the Pharaoh, Yami, work together, they're one heck of a dueling team, as many fans of the tv show know.

But Yusei is another story. I may have only seen one of his episodes (cause he's a completely different season, 5D's I think), but the way he dueled was very impressive. I've never seen anyone win without even attacking once. That's just an incredible tactic. So, I gotta hand it to the guy. He'd be a threat to any duelist against him, even Yugi and Yami.

But I wonder. who'd win in a duel if they were to face off against each other? Yusei or everybody's favorite spiky headed duelist (mostly referring to Yami here)?

My best bet is Yugi and Yami. Sure, I only saw Yusei duel once, but knowing the way Yugi and Yami work together, they could figure out Yusei's strategy quickly. Winning without attacking means using no monsters and relying on magic and trap cards. That'd be easy for Yugi and Yami to figure out. Then again, nothing says Yusei can't change his strategy. But still, I think Yugi and Yami have a better chance.

Oh, one more thing. What's your favorite monster? Mine's the Red Eyes Black Dragon. Just an awesome-looking creature with a cool attack.

Also, everything after the first two or three seasons sucked. No denying that.

The only good thing that came out of the 4kids version was Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged.

I only watched it sporadically, and after the Battle City part was over I stopped watching altogether. I never really got into Yu-Gi-Oh, in my primary school Pokemon was still the ****.

I love the Japanese version of the show a lot, as well as the awesome Abridged Series. 4kids can piss off for all I care.

My favorite characters would have to be Bakura Ryou, Jounouchi Katsuya, and Mutou Yuugi. My favorite arcs are Battle City and Memory World, and my favorite monster is the Black Magician Girl, though I didn't care too much for the actual card games. My favorite duel would have to be the one between Yami Malik and Jounouchi, mainly because of how intense it felt and how the outcome was rather shocking. 4kids really effed that duel up, though.

Who cares? Both of them are **** and can't play card games. Perhaps if they ran a Lightsworn deck, or a DAD removal deck, they could be considered decent, but as it is, they only win because anyway playing against them is even more stupid than they are.

They duel in differant ways. And pokemon is better. I agree with Silver

One thing I think is stupid about the show is how the duelists (or whatever they're called) get hurt. Really, the closest thing to being in danger from that card game is like "how Joey almost lost a hand in that tragic shuffling accident", because actually, that's the most dangerous part of the game (probably).

But seriously, why is it that with any merchandising based off a competitive series of some sort, the main characters cannot play for ****? Ash sucks balls in Pokemon (he uses a goddamn Pikachu), Atem, Jaden, and Yusei all have horrible, horrible decks, that kid from the Magic the Gathering series was ****e, etc, etc.

There was a TV show about Magic? That was also too late, a year ago, I would be having a spazgasm now.

Some of the games are actually dangerous, though. Such as the duel against Pandora where the loser would have their legs cut off and how Jounouchi stops breathing after his Yami no Game against Malik. The holograms seemingly hurting the players is odd, but back in the early manga it made sense in Kaiba's duel against Grandpa because they were in a confined space where the monsters were attacking the player in a realistic manner. Kaiba just designed the duel disks to make it seem like you get hurt, from what I can guess.

GX and 5ds can piss off, too.

The card game was created in the show and manga first, unlike the Pokemon anime which is based off a game. Not to mention some of the cards in the show are made up or work differently from their real-world counterparts. As for their cards not working in real-life tournaments, who cares? I know nothing of the real card game, and I don't watch the show for the card game. I watched it for the characters. What I hate is when people assume this show is just some marketing gimmick to sell some cards. If you look closely at the show, you can see some compelling characters and a plot that actually makes some sense within the context of the series.

They don't get hurt. They're holograms, so the monsters can't hurt the duelists. The only time where people did get hurt in their duels is during Marik's shadow games and when the Seal of Oricalcos (sp?) was being played in duels. The Oricalcos made them real monsters. Marik's Shadow games were obvious. The guy twisted the duels.

Btw, no one answered my question about Yugi/Yami vs Yusei.

Yusei looks sillier than Yuugi. I haven't watched his show because of how stupid card games on motorbikes sounds.

Yeah, Yugi looks better. Which means Yami does too, of course.

I don't refer to Atem as Yami, though, even when referring to what he is called before his name is revealed. They just call him the other Yuugi in the show. Yami was a screw up on 4kids's part.

I've gotten too used to knowing him as Yami though.

I stopped watching after the bit where Yugi obtains the three egyptian gods. After he won in the tournament and defeated(Marik i believe) the show just got boring. Liked GX but that stopped after they introduced the neo-spacians. Never liked them very much. Is it true there's another Yu-Gi-oh TV show out now?

I grew out of YuGiOh when I was about 8.

It was never a kid's show, though. The Japanese version is a bit more PG-13.

I actually like 5D's the best out of all three. (Prepares for the flaming)

Of course I watch the original Japanese version instead of the crap 4kids! version. I couldn't even get through the first season of GX.

I also think that Yuusei would kick Yuugi/Atems butt in any duel.

I really don't think Yuugi/Atem are that good duelists IMHO. They always seem to win by cheating, which Isis kind of says Atem does by changing destiny and stuff. (Magical deck shuffling, anyone?)

Yuusei relies on skill, Yuugi/Atem relies on magic. Take away the magic, he'd probably be the worst duelist on the show.
