Right, so this was because Forte says he doesn't like himself. I want him to like himself a bit more.

What I also enjoyed about the book was all the detail on each panel.

Great.

Re: Watchmen

I borrowed the graphic novel, and it's a very good read. The more I read it, though, the more I dislike the film.

Re: Watchmen

I dig Watchmen, it's an important piece of work in the world of comics and just the world of storytelling in general. It isn't my favourite graphic novel, but I do love it.

I still haven't seen the movie, much to the surprise of everyone including myself.

I've never seen it either, although I have seen little parts on youtube, and the beginning scene on the internet, but alas, I am waiting for the DVD.

Just some extra scenes that aren't needed, parts that could have been replaced with ones missing, seriously the sex and gore scenes were made too oblivious in the movie. I still give them credit, though, they're the only ones that could ever pull off a film adaption.

And yet the movie's ending is still better than the graphic novel's.

Rorschach's death in the comic felt more noticed in the movie, Dan wasn't off getting laid and was there to cry for his friend.

The Big No was seriously out of place, though.

"Big No"s are always out of place. Why writers don't realize this I've no idea.

I'm not sure how far he went into it besides the above pic, but I really wouldn't mind seeing Dave Gibbon's storyboard of the movie in full comic form.

Re: Watchmen

I don't know if anyone has noticed, that if you go to chapter five, "Fearful Symmetry", the chapter pages are symmetric to themselves, especially the two middle pages of the full chapter.

That picture is of the two middle pages of the chapter that are symmetric. If you take each page after that, they are symmetric with the comic frames ^_^

Re: Watchmen

I especially like the part in that chapter where Rorschach goes to met Edward Jacobi, or Moloch.

His mask looks really cool at that point.

Read the graphic novel on my way up to Canda a while ago, I thought it was pretty good. :3

Re: Watchmen

Never watched the movie; don't plan to because of the rating and what's in it.

Novel was cool though. I don't read graphic novels a lot so I can't really compare it.

Re: Watchmen

I appreciate all that the graphic novel did for the medium, but I don't think it's anything more than 'good'. The art and paneling has aged very poorly, and even back then is was kind of bland. I just don't like the cop-out ending especially, which even Alan Moore said he didn't like. When the creator and writer says that he doesn't like the ending, something's not right.

Re: Watchmen

Really? I quite liked the ending, one of the better parts, I'd argue.

And while the art is, in some ways, rather bland, the detail packed into every panel is great. You learn, if anything, more about the world by watching the background than you do from reading the comic.
