South Park: funny or just stupid

South Park is awsome. There are certain episodes which are very stuid but most episodes I ifnd myself laughing throughout the whole show.

At times, South Park is horribly crude.
Others, its a satrical masterpiece.

I can't explain it. I don't really like the show (I have found some of it funny, but generally it's not my thing)-- however, I deeply respect their satire tactic, that "make fun of everything and anything" method. I think much the same way-- if you make fun of how absurd everyone is in a particular issue, no one can feel singled out. Everything should be made fun of, and people should learn to lighten up and poke fun at themselves, too; sometimes that's what happens when they see this satire, and realize how ridiculous it all is.

I honestly don't know why I don't really like the show, though, as I, too, commonly make fun of certain "taboo" issues in an over-the-top fashion. Something about their humor is just different than mine. But like I said, they're good at what they do, and they should keep doing it.

the repetitiveness is wat makes it funny

I think the point of the show is to let the vulgarity entertain you and the message enlighten you.

it is but to kinda make it funny than what it was suppose to be.

South Park is one of the few good shows still on television.

I just find it moronic.

I find no humor in it, but that's just me.

This thread is quite old at this point, and rather than try to revive any old discussion, starting a new thread would be a better idea.

I don't see the problem with this thread being revived, it's not as though people's opinions would drastically change in the months since the last new episodes and there's little point in creating a new thread so the same people can just copy and paste the answers they had here.

I like South Park, the episodes are funny and generally meaningful and over the top in a good kind of way. Matt and Trey are really good at what they do, and I'm pretty pleased with their work. I can't wait to watch the next episode tomorrow, the last one wasn't great but the mid-season openings generally aren't.

Its more about allowing a new discussion to take place rather than simply continue an old one where many of the participants may have already forgotten about it. You don't get people replying to old posts and whatnot. I'm ok with two or sometimes even three month old threads continuing, but four or five is pushing it.

Anyway, I guess I forgot to actually close this? Locked now.
