South Park: funny or just stupid

Other long-running comedy shows, like Family Guy, usually end up running out of jokes and repeating itself, but South Park doesn't have that problem since they love to make fun of current events. The animation style means that an episode can be created literally the day after something happens, so there's always something new to laugh about.

They're also basically crusaders for comedic rights. There is nothing that they won't make fun of, even if other places are afraid to do so. For example, they had the bravery to create an episode on the "Depictions of Mohammad" controversy and make fun of the Muslims too, even when everyone else was afraid to do so because of all the violent protests. Of course, the Muslims couldn't really say that they were being specifically singled out, since South Park has also made fun of Atheism, Christianity, Judaism, Mormonism, Scientology (they didn't take it well) and more.

I've never anyone says south park is a bad show. the people around you are weird. Me I love the show its great. It talks about current events, and teaches a lesson, while still managing to be hilarious. South Park is the master of social commentary.

South Park is awesome, although the past few seasons have been hit and miss.

South Park is a brilliant show. It presents current events in a hilariously absurd way and then shows you the reality at the end.

It's not as funny as it used to be. Not by a long shot. If anything, the show still succeeds at being mildly amusing, but nothing more. "Hit and miss" pretty much defines the last few seasons of South Park perfectly.

Of course, even though the show's gone downhill, it's still not as bad as what happened to The Simpsons and Family Guy.

South Park is too politcally incorrect for my tastes. It gets to the point where they flat out offend people and they don't care. I mean, people don't think mocking their religion is funny. It's just wrong.

I'm gonna get flamed for this but....it's stupid. I used to be obsessed with it when I was like 9 but like 99.9% of my obsessions, I stopped caring after I realized it was really immature.

I've only seen tidbits of South Park, and honestly I don't think it's all that amazing. I mean sure it can be funny, but it's just not...my style.
I dunno how to explain it.

You and the poster above me obviously do not recognize the messages in the show, it is very deep and very rational. Some shows you aren't supposed to drool over, thats Family Guy. South Park has a much more complicated underlying message which is the point of their whole show, they grab your attention through the sheer absurdity of it all, and in some cases, their 'exaggerations' aren't all that exaggerated.

I have to say the "Kenny got killed" jokes have been repetitive though...

But you see, MY personal point is that I don't it because of it's immaturity. But that's just an opinion. Feel free to believe what you want.

South Park is only immature in regard to the absurd satire they use, their messages are a far cry away from immaturity, however, that is your opinion and that's fine by me.

^^^ Their messages aren't even serious. South Park is amazing. People who disagree are generally the type of people who think "this is immature pshh where's my Frasier".

You know, the people who think it's cool to be mature.

When I was young, I hated it. I didn't see the humor and I thought it was just stupid.

Now, I think it's an alright show. It's got some nice humor and, at times, it's brilliant. Nothing spectacular, though.
