...It does remind my of something I dislike though. The terms "graphic novel", "light novel", and "visual novel" are similar, yet refer to comics, short novels, and a particular type of video game respectively, and so are actually quite different.

First of all, I am pretty pissed with the second season. How many episodes has the "Endless Eight" chapter spanned already? Four times? It is absolutely ridiculous. The "Endless Eight" chapter was only one damn chapter in the novel and feels absolutely insignificant compared to the other major events that would surely take a lot of episodes to interpret. The endless 8 needed no more than 2 episodes to convey the chapter. Hell, even 1 very good episode could have pulled it off. How many episodes will there be left of the second season if they actually ****ing plan to interpret that damned chapter in 8 episodes? Argh!

Legendary anime is Legendary.

Now we start taking bets. When will Endless Eight end? ep 5, 6, 8? 20? 4251?
My money's on 9, because if I was in the position of the director, that's what I would do. Get the fans thinking it'll end on eight, and bam, bring em in for one more loop.

Though, it'll be great if they switch it up, you know, like maybe throw a musical number in there at the pool scene, or have the SOS brigade battling giant mutant cicadas.

According to the books, the number of times they've found out they were in a loop is,

...8769...

Anyway, I thought it was interesting. And some parts were funny. But overall, I'm not sure that I'm going to buy any more volumes.

Yes. The light novels came first, then the anime, then the manga. (Well, there was a manga version before the anime by someone else, but it's widely considered to be terrible.)

If it wasn't for the vocals, this would go on my ipod. When the opening started, I thought to myself that it might be in league with this.

That meaning's been stripped away with the Endless Eight arc. Which has gone on FAR longer than it needed to.

I find it amusing.

Also, I'm not watching the rest of Endless Eight until it finishes. I've watched the first three so far, and can confirm that it's better in batches than episode-by-episode.

Something curious about the most recent Endless Eight; what was with the airplane motif? Throughout the episode Kyon had several visions of an airplane, and the shot panned up to a plane flying in the sky above the public pool. Also, Mikuru had a picture of a plane on her shirt and Kyon drew one in his notebook at the end. A clue? Does Haruhi want to go skydiving before summer is over?

I know it's Kyon's homework in the book, but they've already strayed from the novel canon by adding on to the number of times summer repeats.

A bunch of episodes based on a Groundhog Day concept where two weeks just keep repeating over and over, due to the reality-warping powers of Haruhi. The anime has shown multiple sets of these two weeks, while the light novel had only shown one set.
