Anime Based around a Game

This is Driving me nuts so I thought I would ask here!

Awhile ago some one was talking about one of their Favorite animes that was centered around a game. I don't remember much about it but I think he said something to the extent of...

10 people were given a box of cash, but they can't open it untill the game is over. If they don't open it before that time they can keep the money in the box.

Then people with the boxes started to track down the other box owners and killed them to take there boxes.

This sounded really interesting, and I shot myself in the foot for not looking it up when I first heard of it. A few days ago I remember hearing about it and I couldn't find out what it was called anywhere!

Does anyone know what anime this is?

Sounds a lot like "Liar Game" to me, I don't know if it has an anime though, I thougth it was just manga.
