Does Anybody Hate Family Guy as Much as I do?

Why does this show have a following? It is nothing more than a smelly turd.

The jokes are completely random and rarely have any relation to the rest of the plot. The material is extremely shallow and predictable. The art is unappealing. The characters suck. Almost every dimension of the show is a ripoff of the far superior Simpsons. Every episode is the same.

My god, it's horrendous. Absolutely terrible.

I wouldn't care but for the fact that it seems to have a rather large following. I can't begin to understand these people.

And let's be clear--I in no way present myself as "above" slapstick humor. I love South Park. I think it's hilarious when Kenny is mutilated or the characters puke, for example.

But Family Guy? Ugh. What a steaming pile of horse♥♥♥♥.

I liked the first 2-3 seasons, and they were almost superior to Simpsons then.

Then after...it was garbage.

Moved to Cartoons and Comics.

I don't like Family Guy at all. I thought it was funny when it was first on, but even watching those episodes now I rarely crack a smile, let alone laugh. Just not my thing at all.

Alright if anyone says that they hate family guy just because its the same thing every episode and that they like South Park becuase its different really needs to think about what their saying before they say it. As a fan of both shows, Bigger Family Guy fan, I can honestly say that ya Family Guy does do random comedy that doesn't have anything to do with the plot and yes Family Guy episodes do have a plot, but you now what South Park is the same thing over and over. A typical South Park episode is something being blown way out of proportion, ,the adults are acting stupid and the kids are the only ones acting with some sense. During an episode there is plenty of fat jokes, like Family Guy, and a lot a Jew/racist jokes, kenny gets killed, except in the newer episodes where it only happens every once in awhile, and then they learn some stupid lesson at the end of the show. I think that if you say that Family Guy is the same thing over and over then you must think about all the shows that you watch, there all the same thing over and over no matter what type show it is comedy, drama, action there all the same. If Family guy isn't your thing than don't watch it its as simple as that. The reason people watch it is becuase they find it funny, why do you watch South Park becuase its funny, am I wrong? Oh, and Family Guy has a larger viewing audience that South Park, just thought I would let you know that.

I don't hate it, but I rarely find it to be that funny.

When I first started it, it was the most funny thing to me ever. But then before it was revived, I stopped watching it. When I came back to it last year (or maybe it was earlier this year, I don't know.) I barely even found the old episodes to be funny anymore.

I STRONGLY disagree. South Park is satire at it's finest. Family Guy... not so much. South Park actually attempts to make fun of modern day society, while Family Guy just copies the Simpsons.

Don't get me wrong, I ♥♥♥♥ing love the first 3 seasons of Family Guy, it's absolutely hilarious. But they, like The Simpsons, have started to go down hill. It'll have it's occasional moment of brilliance, but most of the time it's just not as appealing.

Hell, even South Park is starting to go downhill a bit. The older stuff was better.

Oh, and one more thing: the size of the following doesn't always represent quality. For example, the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL. They're a piece of ♥♥♥♥ hockey team, but everyone seems to love them. They have one of the biggest fan bases in the NHL.

Family Guy is pure, mindless entertainment. That's it. It's not supposed to present a greater message, nor is there one hidden beneath all the fat jokes and vulgarity. It's something you just have to sit back and enjoy.

The only thing I agree with you on is the fact that it's kind of random. This wasn't so apparent so in the earlier seasons, but the randomness of some jokes has slowly started to increase as the show goes on. Hell, I'm not even sure who they're referencing half the time.

See thats the thing they attempt do make fun of modern day pop culture, like the guitar hero episode I did not like this episode at all. South Park as I said just blows things way out of proprotions and I think that I find that type of comemdy to be less funny now that I am older.

People say this all the time and honestly I don't see it. I find the two to be completly different styles of comedy.

I know but there was a thread about South Park and someone said that South Park had a bigger following than Family Guy so I did some resarch and found that Family guy way more views than South Park. Honestly I just like to say this, it really didn't have anything to do with my arguement.

Thats the whole appeal of the show really and personally find it to be funny as hell. Most people don't get the references because they refernce a lot of 80's, 90's, and 70's pop culture.

I quite enjoy family guy. As to why....hell if I know. Some of the jokes aren't really that funny, but most hit pretty square on. It's not really suppose to be intelligent humor or anything, it's suppose to be something anyone can laugh at. It's comedy basics to me.

They need to go back to their roots if they ever want to be truly funny again.

In all honesty, that's how I feel about the characters now. Except Peter was actually a lovable oaf, THEN a retard.

^^^Family Guy is still funny, although Stewie was better as an evil genius rather than being bi... yes he is bi. He is not completly gay, at least not yet anyway.

Seth McFarlene confirmed him as gay a little while back, it's in show confirmed on a new one yet to be seen I suppose. But, that's irrelevant.

I probably hate it more then you, Betrayal is a better fuel then hatred for this kind of things. It used to be good. Although the 1st 3 seasons had bad animation, some writing problems, and some copying issues, it still had heart to it, now its just something seth just puts together to get more money, look at the Cleveland show, look at the winner, it obvious seth doesn't want to create something new and original. I agree with pretty much all your points TC. The show is just bad writing all over.

If that's how you feel, then you're missing the entire point of the show. They blow stuff out of proportion to show how stupid some issues really are. They do this in order to make a point, and that point is PEOPLE ARE STUPID.

Just because they're different types of humor, doesn't mean they can't decline in quality. The Simpsons has a classier, cleverer humor to it. Family Guy.... not so much.

I personally don't think Family Guy is declining in quality, The first episode of the new season was one of the best yet I thught. I think that when a show hits around 200 episodes they should think about stoping and as for the Simpsons being more clever humor that... might be true although I find both shows to be more clever than South Park. I know this part will seem a bit out of place but Futurama is probably more clever than Family Guy, South Park, and the Simpsons.

This is the single most retarded post I've ever seen on ZU in my time here, not only contradictive, but almost anti-subjectively wrong. That not only does it ridiculously generalize about episodic series in general, but pretends another series that is episodic can't actually be generalized unlike another series, and using THAT as the argument. That's pretty ♥♥♥♥ing bad.
