Usually I be in support when it comes to shock humor. Aristocrat joke, racist jokes, you name it, if its offense I probably laugh my arse off to it, but family guy shock humor just gets trying, its fine the first couple of times, but it seems to always want to offend somebody, and when you do that, it becomes predictable. And with shock humor thats not the way you want to go, its called shock humor for a reason, it has to be unexpected.

trust me i could go on, for the sake of getting something to eat i won't. But my main problem with family guy is the writing and how predictable it is.

I, like many people find offending people and rude humor funny. Which is why many people prefer South Park and Family guy to the Simpsons and Futurama.

I own every season and have watched it from pretty much the beging and still find the show hilariuos. Anyway, you say that the show is just random humor the towards the end you say that the show is predictable.My question for you is how can something be random and predictable at the same time?

I said it was a series of random jokes, not "random humor". its humor is shock humor, and with that said if you have a show with that many seasons it gets predictable when its shock humor. And people can continue to laugh at fart jokes over and over again, but that doesn't make them a great joke.

I enjoy Family Guy occasionally. It does have it's golden moments. (i.e.: Peter barging in on Lois with a hose and hosing her down the stairs.) I will admit, however, that the show is getting really tiring and I am sick of the same non-linear, random jokes. I hope all the love and hype dies out over the next few years.

Not a fan of Family Guy. I dont really hate it but i dont like it. It just didnt really suck me in. Stuey was funny at first but now hes gotten old. (yeah baby pun.)
The Simpsons was a show i really loved but it went to utter crap like around season 10 or so. Really they gotta put that one to bed! I havent watched alot of Futurerama to be honest.
South Park? It was pretty awesome in the first three seasons but then i lost interest.

I can't stand Family Guy. I enjoyed the first 3 seasons. I also can't stand the fan base. From what I've seen is primarily young teenagers.

Now Futurama, that's comedy.

By and large, I'd lost all interest in it a long time ago. Even when I still watched it, I really never saw how some people could have considered it BETTER than The Simpsons.

Urgh, Family Guy is an awful, awful show. Like most people are saying, it was funny a long time ago the first few times you saw it, but boy does it get old. Not only that, but the humor is stupid (and not a funny kind of stupid) and uncreative, the animation is awful... it just has no real soul.

The Simpsons is a classic, of course, and nowadays it's just alright.
I do really love me some Futurama, though.

Also, in defense of South Park: I don't actually like the show, and I've only seen it on a few occasions, but I can definitely say I respect it for what it does. I love its sense of satire, how they pretty much attack all sides of a matter as offensively as possible, leaving everyone to realize how ridiculous the situation is in the first place.

I mean, it's kinda odd that I like its method of satire but don't actually like the show much, but there you go.


EDIT: My friend actually told me once that South Park made fun of Family Guy's joke creation process, which basically amounted to pulling balls out of a lottery wheel.

I don't understand why people think that the show has bad animation, it seems fine to me. South Park is pretty much the crappest animation I have ever seen in a show but to be fair thats how its supposed to be. Can someone please tell me why they think that Family Guy has crappy animation, other than it has no soul.

Because the characters simply don't move much, and the art style is, well, not that special. Most animated sitcoms are guilty of this to an extent, but Futurama fares probably the best of them, because not only do the characters actually move, but a lot of effort is put into the art-- it's cool how they mix in all the CGI special effects and such.

Never payed attention to Family Guy, Simpsons ruined my childhood (long story), never liked South Park, Futurama was pretty good, though. That sums up my opinion on the more popular American animated comedies.

I completely agree with you there Futurama is the best when it comes to animation because they constanly seem to be in motion. As for Family Guy I like the way it drawn but your right they don't move a whole lot but I guess I just have lower standards when it come to that. This is probably due to the fact that I watch a lot of anime and they don't move a lot in anime.

I like all the big American cartoons. Although South Park is getting worse. Same with FG but recent episodes are giving me hope.

Nothing beats Alfred J. Kwak though. Dutch/Japanese cartoons ftw.

tl;dr

From what I gather it's essentially a generalization of the show that boils down to it being a show full of random jokes.

Hate to break it to you, but that's exactly what everybody's holy grail comedy cartoons, Futurama and The Simpsons, are as well. The truth is shocking, I know. Ever seen the Simpsons movie? It's pretty much just one irrelevant joke after another, with a central plot base to round out some key parts. Just like Family Guy.

I really don't like it. Never found it funny at all. My friend really likes it though and used to make me sit through it

I LOVE The Simpsons and South Park though

Family Guy is alright, but it rarely gets a laugh out of me nowadays.

See, I don't get this. The Simpsons is just as random and irrelevant in its humor.

And South Park is more like a platform for its writers to make political and social statements than it is a comedy show.
