Family Guy

South Park

Now South Park isn't not funny but its not as good as is used to be, thats pretty much all I have been saying in my posts.

Fanbase =/= viewers.

Also, I like how you took the least important part of my argument and attacked that

How does fanbase not equal viewers. If fans like the show then they watch it, its as simple as that.

You're looking at it wrong, though that is probably my fault as I meant to have that in the opposite order. Just because someone watches a show, doesn't mean they're a fan, it could just mean there's nothing else that interests them in that timeslot. I've watched shows and not considered myself a fan of them. FamilyGuy is one of those shows.

Ok I see what you mean, but you gotta think that most people that wacth a show are usually fans of it as well.

Normally, I'd agree with you, but Family Guy isn't a show that has a plot. Any jow can turn on his tube and watch it, get a couple chuckles and never have to see it again. Other shows require a bit of dedication. A drama, like Grey's Anatomy, or a sci-fi thriller like Lost, generally require the watcher to be a long-time viewer in order to understand the show, and/or it's plot. You can't just watch a single episode of Lost (Save perhaps it's pilot) and walk away knowing what happened. If I tossed you into a middle-of-season episode, you would be confused as hell.

While this comes with a certain charm, for the most part it just leaves large gaping holes in the story that the viewer is suppose to disregard for the sake of comedy. This occurs in every episode of Family Guy. Off the top of my head, the only major inconsistency in South Park was that Kenny died in every episode and was alive at the beginning of the next one.

To me, the definition of a fan is someone who is a dedicated viewer, someone who doesn't miss an episode. Someone who'd argue over which is better online

Re: South Park: AWESOME SAUCE

Here is my opinion and don't take it the wrong way.
When I first made a thread about South Park, thats what went it was good and still funny. But now, since they kept on making new episodes, its been going down hill. The older episodes make me laugh and such so I enjoy the old ones, not the new ones.
