On the Rocks (Shadow Samus)
OOC: This is my first thread, so please go easy on me
.IC: Felix washed his face in the cold, mountain stream. He gasped as he pulled his face up for air, and looked around. To his right was his camp, a small tent and fire pit, set down by the stream. A waterfall we nearby, coming crashing down on the rocks. As Felix sat by the fire, he looked at the rest of the mountain he had to climb. Just ten more miles! Felix thought excitedly. He roasted some fish he had caught in the stream. He devoured it and sit, staring into the fire, as it danced in front of his gaze. He had a long think about what had happened over the past few days. The Academy had traced a lead on the Oracle Sword. Apparently it landed on the top of this very mountain, by an old hermit's house. It was stolen from in within the month, and Felix was sent to go investigate. He snuffed out the fire and went to sleep. *** Felix woke up to the sound of splashing. The sound was coming from the waterfalls just down the path. It was only barely audible over the roar of the waterfall. Felix closed his eyes and tried to get back to sleep, but something about the noise kept Felix awake. He reasoned that it was almost morning, anyways, and he should get a head start. So, he exited his little tent and got dressed, taking the Scythe with him. As he approached the waterfalls, he saw a figure, bent over, on top of a rock. Felix cautiously approached it, and the figure suddenly looked up and turned around to face him. |

Re: On the Rocks (Shadow Samus)
OoC: Alrighty then! XD Didn't see this for a bit, but I'm here now.
BiC: Salis had been moving for miles around the mountain that towered over him, trying to reach the top for something that could possibly help him on his way. He sat down in a small pile of leaves, crinkling a few in his hand, pondering about what to do for food. A small snake wriggled its way up into his lap, curling around the gloved hand he'd hidden from Humans for so long. The Half Demon crushed the snake's head, using a dab of his fire magic to cook it through. As he tore the scales from the meat underneath, Salis looked up into the heavens, sighing a bit. Somebody is camping close by here, by the scent of the wind... Finishing the small morsel of meat off, Salis stood and began for the stream to try and catch something else to eat. By now it was already dark, and he could hear the light breathing of whoever was camping out on the other side of the creek. The snowy haired youth jumped across the small creek to the rock he'd been on a few days back, kneeling and staring into the water. Picking up a few handfuls, Salis splashed his face, letting the cool liquid settle his nerves. A small bass swam into his vision, and reaching to grab for it, the fish darted from his hand, resulting in Salis catching himself with a small splash in the water. Got to keep quiet... He tried once more, finally catching the small creature and cooking it like the snake. Finishing it in record time, he looked up to hear someone behind him. Salis turned, staring at the young man in his sights. "... Crap." |

Re: On the Rocks (Shadow Samus)
Felix took a few steps forward, with the intent to ask the man for directions. Suddenly a thought seized him, and he stopped. What if the man was sent by the Kradel?. Felix turned the idea over in his mind, and realized the probability was high. Who else would be hiking in a mountain such as this if not to reach the same treasure Felix was after? It was out in the middle of nowhere. Felix also noticed the man had silver hair, which was common among the Kradel. Felix felt the glow of netherenergy has a feint purple aura surrounded him, and a Journyman level Netherbear appeared beside him. The bear was slightly larger than a normal bear, and was black, with purple symbols on his body. Felix decided on a preemptive attack, and ordered the bear to kill the Kradel. With a savage roar, the beast lunged at the youth. Felix drew his Scythe and ripped a portal in the air, jumping through it and appearing behind the young man. With a swift kick, he launched the surprised man off the rock, and right into the path of the bear. The boy displayed amazing reflexes, jumping to his feet right away. He turned to face the bear, and drew a bow. He raised it, and aimed at the charging bear, which was only a few dozen yards away, and running fast towards the enemy.
What a fool, Felix thought. He's not even using any arrows. With a sudden shimmer, a ghostly arrow appeared in his hand, already strung to the bow. He fired it with amazing accuracy, hitting the bear on its right shoulder. It roared again, but this time in pain, and not in anger. He was bleeding heavily, but he kept on running. Another shot sounded through the morning air, striking the bear in the leg like a gunshot. The bear was very close now, but was loping painfully. As Felix watched the boy draw another arrow, he hastily cast retrieve on the bear. The last arrow shot through thin air as the bear turned into dust and hit Felix's body. Felix roared, exactly as the bear had done, and drew his dagger, lunging at the boy. With unhuman strength he stabbed his weapon, cutting the boy's arm. The youth reacted fast, drawing his sword and clashing with Felix's blade. Felix knew that he couldn't contend with a dagger against a sword for long, and so cast Plague: Blindness on the boy, and dodged his next attack. Felix summoned an Inner level Earthen shortsword. It was made of tough steel, with a hilt made of rock. He smashed it with all his strength at the boy, who only just managed to parry it. Suddenly, the boy began a wave of blows, forcing Felix back, even with the Netherbear's strength inside him. Felix unleashed the bear, and a deafening roar sounded throughout the forest from Felix's mouth, sending birds out of their nests in panic, and squirrels nervously running up trees. The roar made the man clasp his ears in an attempt to gain some respite. Felix raised his weapon for the finishing blow, but the man easily rolled out of the way of his opponent. The roar ended and the boy stood up, brushed himself off, and faced Felix, a gleam in his eye that said that the boy was going to do something that Felix wasn't going to like. |

Re: On the Rocks (Shadow Samus)
He stood, sword in hand, glaring at the boy with his own sword. "Why are you attacking me? I've done no harm to you." As Salis uttered the words, he clenched his cursed fist, the cloth of the glove soaked and torn from the previous slash, his blood dripping ever slowly from the glove, staining the cloth and the ground a rich purple.
The Half Demon sighed, throwing his sword into the ground, having concentrated enough energy to produce a moderate earthquake. As everything around them came crashing down, Salis caught a tree on fire with ease, making sure the battle ahead would last a time. "So? Answer my question, boy. Why are you attacking me?" "That's none of your business. Now, I want you to leave this place and don't return, if you know what's good for you." Before the man could finish his sentence, Salis appeared behind him, blade to blade. He pushed against the metal blocking his, sliding the tempered steel down just enough to cut his boot. Mumbling a short curse, the youth, took a step back; his opponent however took this sign, slashing downward. Salis raised his left arm, blocking the majority of the damage. When Felix went to raise his blade, some of the cloth caught on the metal, ripping the glove off. The Half Demon's eyes widened a bit, trying to hide his arm behind his back. Once more, he yelled, "What is your objective to attack me?!" |

Re: On the Rocks (Shadow Samus)
Felix was rather taken aback by the youth's question.
"Don't play dumb with me, boy" The young man tossed his head back and laughed "Boy?! I'm pretty sure I'm older than you!" He laughed again, but this time nervously, as he held one of his arms behind his back. "Now, I'll ask you one more time: Why are you trying to kill me!?" "Don't try to blind me into thinking you're not who you are! We've all taken classes at the academy on the dirt that you Kradels get up to. I know that you're just trying to play dumb. Don't mistake me for a junior, Kradel, or I'll crush you for such a mistake!" "Ohhh, talking tough there? Why the hell are you calling me Kradel? My name's Salis." Felix gave Salis a look of pure malice. "We both know what we're after here, Salis. We both know only one of us can have it, and---attack!" The netherbear had reformed behind Salis's back, and jumped at the boy. Salis, still trying to hide his hand behind his back, was forced to dodge to one side. He knew he must take out his hand to defend himself, but... Salis thought it over, and he knew that he had no choice. He took out his hand and drove the pencil-sharp claws into the bear's wounds, which had not yet healed. The bear roared with pain, and turned to face its antagonist, only to be met with a sword slash to the face. The bear let out its last cry and slumped to the ground, dead. Felix's eyes widened at the sight of the hand. A million thoughts raced through his head, foremost among them was Is this some new Kradel technology? Perhaps Salis isn't even human. He looked human, but maybe it was like an angle, with a humanoid form, but with a demon characteristic. "Where is your master?" Felix demanded. Salis turned to Felix, a forlorn look in him. "Master? What do you mean?" Felix held in a gasp. Was this a powerful enough demon that it had broken its master's will? He knew Inner and Wraith demons sometimes were able to achieve this. I'd better be careful from here on out, he thought. Felix used the Scythe's free summon to call an Eclipse level Wraith. It's human in shape, but had no features, instead just completely black in color. It carried a scythe, similar to Felix's. Felix gave the order to attack, and fired several darkbolts at Salis. Salis picked up a nearby rock, lifting it with amazing strength and hurling it at the approaching darkbolts. They hit the rock and dissipated. He sent a black shock at the wraith. As the magical shockwave was close to the wraith, it faded slightly, and completely dodged the attack, as it passed right through him. Felix smiled to himself. The demon was strong, no doubt, as it had just lifted a 500lb rock. But it didn't know much about Wraiths, or the fact that Wraiths fade into the Nether when close to dark magical attacks. In reality, Salis did know a lot about Wraiths, but in the heat of battle, forgot about their main ability. The Wraith raised its scythe, but Salis drew his blade and struck it in the chest. The Wraith looked down at its chest, and, although it had no mouth, a laugh was echoed in Salis's mind. The wraith was injured, but not enough to kill it. Felix knew that despite the wraith's confidance, it couldn't last forever. Felix used retrieve on the Wraith, and Felix's body became slightly darker and see-through. Felix quickly summoned a Novice level Imp at his side, and both of them rushed in. Felix placed Plague: Weakness on Salis, drew his Earthen Sword, and clashed blades once again. |
