Broken Peace on a Shoreline (Limit 4 People)

OoC: So my guy Kenth needs some battling and it seems I've got no choice but to start an open thread even though I'm not good at it. I don't like too many people though, so the limit is four, including myself. Here's the roster.

BiC: It was a cool afternoon on a summer day when Kenth had just finished having a good supper of meat and fruit, all things he was able to pay for from a town that was nearby. Now he was walking along a beach for a stroll, looking for a fine place he could practice using his tail and claws in dragon form, as he was not as proficient with them as his breath. Perhaps he could practice on trees, but then again the muscular strength of a dragon laguz in dragon form could destroy them easily. Creating a training area for one such as them was not easy.

As he continued down the beach, once in awhile Kenth would go take a few swings of his fists and feet at the rocks in order to heighten his counterattacking skills in human form. He felt that he should not be so useless once he had to put his transformation to rest. Sometimes he wished he had the Formshift skill that the royal Black Dragons of Goldoa had that allowed them to stay transformed infinitely. But because he was only a noble he did not possess it.

Things seemed quiet on the beach as Kenth practiced, but then again, he still felt he was not alone. He felt that there were other presences not far away, not just in the nearby town, but elsewhere as well. Deciding to ignore it, Kenth still went on and decided to take a break from training for awhile. Sitting down in the warm sand under his feet, he looked at the sun beginning to set ahead at the horizon. He was thinking about his homeland, Goldoa, a nation on the continent of Tellius. He also asked himself every now and then, will he ever meet the legendary hero Ike? Kenth thought of the young mercenary who saved Tellius twice as his greatest inspiration and wondered what he was like.

Boredom began to set in as the sky began to grow darker. Kenth stood up from the sand and started skipping rocks along the water. He was thinking about going for a flight just for the sake of it, until he noticed the tracks of feet in the sand. They were still a bit fresh, telling the laguz that someone was there fairly recently. Kenth knew he couldn't be on that beach alone, but decided to ignore it anyway, as he was not the kind of guy who goes looking for trouble. The strange thing was, however, that the tracks went in the opposite direction from which Kenth had come, yet he had not seen anybody pass him by.

"Wait...maybe I just didn't notice," he said and went back to minding his own business.

OoC: One of the other characters participating has made those footprints, just to let peeps know.

Summer... a time of relaxation. Everything around you seems to be filled with life, rich and unique with every being. The days, though numbered, are long and generally very peaceful. Today was even more so. The temperature had dropped after a cold front had set in the day before. A calm beach lay near a small town. Gently rolling waves lazily moved across the sand before receding back into the ocean. Everything was in perfect harmony.

Synyx fell into the water.

Darn it! he thought to himself. He had been trying to push his abilities to the limit after losing a battle to a man named Hochgender Adler.

OoC: You don't need to know him, that's just a reference to my last RP. Also, all lines in italics are what Synyx is thinking, in case you didn't know that.

BiC: The latest thing Synyx had learned he was able to do was temporarily (for about one second)solidify darkness and use it as a stepping stone or a weak shield. He decided he would only consider this ability mastered if he could keep solidifying it enough to ascend for ten minutes and then get back down safely. He failed halfway through this time.

Why do I keep losing my concentration? What's bothering me? After a few minutes of wading in the water, Synyx decided he wouldn't come to a conclusion anytime soon and proceeded to swim to shore. He was only out about a hundred feet.

When Synyx got to shore, he dried off in the sun for a bit and gave his own challenge another go. Perhaps trying at a more vertical angle will help. He gave himself a running start on the beach for maybe eighty steps and then began creating the platforms of darkness. First he stepped onto one, then he made another as the first faded away, and stepped onto the next. So he began to slowly ascend his pathway.

Just a little while after he began, Synyx sensed someone else was in his presence. He looked down and saw a red-haired man below him. Who is that? Did he see me doing this?! This broke his concentration once again and he forgot to make another solid mass of darkness.

DARN IT!

Synyx fell into the water.

OoC: New ability: Solidification.

OoC: Aiden's first battle. Yay!

BiC: Aiden trudged aimlessly along the beach. He had not done well on a recent assignment. Though the target was no sinking toward the bottom of a murky lake with a knife between his, its, ribs (Aiden corrected himself. Ninteen years in the business and he still thought of targets as real people, a big assassin no-no. Not that it mattered. He could override his own qualms about almost any mission with a mere thought.) Though the assassination had gone off sucessfully, the getaway had resulted in the death of his employer, before his payment. Now he was down one job's pay, and needed some rest. Well, not really, but his remaining human instincts told him he did.

After walking a fair distance, Aiden looked out to the sea, and noticed a figure swimming to land, right near the man he had snuck past earlier, using his influence to screen himself from the man's perception. As Aiden's telescopic vision kicked in, he could see the two had seen each other, andfor some reason, that made him apprehensive.

OoC: Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
Jacness: Can I get in on this?
OoC: Sorry dude, I gotta get you approved first.

OOC: I'll be using Geo.

BIC: The water gently lapped against the shore near where he was sitting. The peaceful picture was too good to be true. He tried to work his way around this reality and see if it was fake. His mind swerved in and out of the life-forces, gleaming the memories of the dearly departed. He snapped his eyes open. There was another presence nearby. He got up and began to walk towards it. The nearer he got, the more uneasy he felt. finally he was forced to draw upon his shadow powers and cloak himself. He came around a bend of rock and saw a red-haired man training in the sand. He quietly walked past him, next to the other set of footprints, trying to get a feel for his life-force. He noticed that the man life-force did not feel like that of a human. He decided to watch him from afar and learn more about him.

BiC: Kenth suddenly heard footsteps nearby and looked up to find a dark-haired man wearing strange gauntlets standing over him, looking terrified at his presence. The startled laguz immediately jumped to his feet, reluctant to say anything to the surprised man before him. Kenth had the urge to switch to dragon form and attack, but he really had no good reason to do so. He did not know whether this man intended to attack him first or not. Instead, Kenth simply stood there, looking both lost and nervous. He just could not figure out what to do that moment.

However, just seconds later, Kenth started to feel as if someone else was watching him from a distance. Slowly looking around and worrying the first man might get ideas from it, Kenth took only more seconds to spot a blonde man with a ponytail a few hundred feet away, seemingly spying on him. Again, Kenth was terrified. What did these people want with him? Do they even know what he is? Were they enemies or criminals? Questions rang through Kenth's mind like there was no tomorrow.

Trying to think of an idea, Kenth started to feel his body vibrate slightly out of nervousness. Pretty soon, the crazy nervousness led Kenth to decide to try scaring the men off and not pick a fight. And to do it, he undoubtedly chose to transform. Within seconds, the laguz man was a 13' red-colored dragon, and roared his loudest roar, not wanting to wait for the men's reaction to his massive second form. He only wished that once he looked back down on where they were, they would have run off.

Synyx was standing in front of the red-haired man, trying to think of something to say, something to explain what he was doing. The man, too, was silent, and apparently saw someone else behind Synyx. He looked back and saw a man with a dirty blonde ponytail eyeing him from afar. He could feel this man was engaged in some kind of evil, but before Synyx had a chance to question this other man, a roar came from behind him. A dragon had replaced the red haired man.

OoC: Ugh... "man," "man," "man,"... so repetitive.

BiC: The dragon stood almost twice the height of Synyx and did not appear friendly at all. What the...?! Synyx quickly used his Dark Gust ability to bring up a wall of sand in front of the creature and block its vision. As he did this, he rolled out of the way and armed Xangatsu. Getting ready for a possible attack from the blonde haired man behind him, Synyx charged up his Dark Lightning.

"RAAAAR!" Kenth bellowed as sand flew into his eyes. He could not stop bellowing his dragon roar due to the pain of the sand blocking out his vision. Kenth kept turning around and wildly shaking his head. As his vision slowly came back, he didn't notice his tail go flying into the dark-haired man, sending him into the ocean waves.

"GAAAH!" the man screamed with shock and terror.

"Huh?" Kenth said as he finally was able to see clearly again. He noticed the man struggling in the waves and decided to fly off as fast as he could to escape getting blinded again, or even something worse. Kenth immediately opened up his large wings and soared into the sky. However, the beach was so wide open, there were few locations to fly to. Instead, he soared down the beach some and then returned to his human form. That way, if he was forced to fight, his transformation would be at full strength. He didn't want to have to waste too much transformation time before he had to return to human form again.

"Damn was that a bad idea. I didn't think that he'd assume I was going to attack..." Kenth said to himself and slapped his face with his hand.

Aiden watched the fight from afar. He had not expected the red-haired being to transform, much less into a creature long-believed to be a legend. Aiden pulled up every database he could find inhis mind, and found no records of such creatures. He decided to study the life-form, and he decided to start with attack patterns.

One huge leap, and he landed in front of the man-dragon only an instant after it had returned to human form. It looked up at Aiden, with a confused look in its eyes. Its gaze darted back and forth between the spot where he had stood only moments ago. It spoke, in a confused tone. "Who are you?"
Aiden replied flatly, "I am AIDEN. I am here to observe you. Prepare to be observed."
He followed this up by grabbing the man's arm and flipping him over, so he landed on his back.

"AUGH!" Kenth screamed as he landed flat on his back. Feeling a sharp pain when he got up, he couldn't help but stare at Aiden in anger and confusion. Observe him? What on earth did he mean by that?

"What are you, insane?! What was that for?!" he exclaimed.

"Isn't it obvious? I expected you to fight back," Aiden replied. Kenth then made fists with his hands and looked at the blonde man with confidence and anger.

"Well if it's a fight you want, then it's a fight you'll get!" he shouted. Seconds later he returned to his dragon form and grabbed Aiden by the collar of what looked like a jumpsuit he was wearing and pulled his head back, getting ready for a breath attack. Within several more seconds, Kenth was blasting his bluish breath beam right in Aiden's face, appearing to damage him horribly. Before the man knew it, however, Kenth had then tossed him in the air and batted him across the beach with his tail.

"Now you know what power I have as a red dragon laguz!" Kenth shouted, hoping he wouldn't be bothered again. He flew up in the air again, but to his dismay, he noticed below him was the dark-haired man from earlier, who had presumably gone to search for Kenth again. Kenth groaned a dragon groan, but decided to stay in the air for the time being in case the man wanted to try picking a fight again. However, not much time had passed until Kenth spotted a third figure down below as well.

"What the--?! Where are these weirdos coming from?" Kenth wondered to himself.

OoC: That third figure is Geo, btw.

OoC: I wish GGG would post. =/

BiC: How did that man transform into a dragon? Was it some kind of magic? Maybe it's just a species around here.... No, that's too improbable. Synyx's thoughts were racing. He had a habit of trying his best to make sense of the things that happened to him. Sometimes he would ask himself one question, and then another before even thinking of an answer to the first.

Suddenly he heard shouting. He couldn't make out the words; the person was too far away. However, just seconds afterward, the blonde haired man shot right over him. How...? Oh, I guess he got hit by that dragon, too. Several hundred meters away in the way he was walking, the very same dragon jumped in the air and began to fly. He examined it for a moment, thinking of how quickly his day had changed. I have the worst luck.

The mystical being looked straight down at Synyx, then away again. Darn it! It noticed me. I bet it's going to turn around soon and try to land another attack. Synyx thought for a moment. ...But not if I attack it first. Synyx began following the dragon and used his new ability to reach its height... and higher. He armed Xangatsu, since he had put it away when he last got hit into the water.

Let's see how it handles an attack from above.

OoC: Really, Geo seems like an interesting character. I just wish he would begin doing something now.

Aiden picked himself up fairly easily, as his wounds seemed to heal themselves. With one fluid motion, Aiden drew his pistol. If dragon lore was correct, a bullet would bounce right off all but the belly and neck. Turning down the laser enhancement to simulate a normal bullet, Aiden sent three shots toward the dragon, and all three ricocheted harmlessly.

Aiden suddenly noticed the other being seeming acending shadowy stairs toward the hovering dragon. Interesting.

OoC: I know it's short. I'm at a friend's.

BIC: Geo followed the battle as it extended further down beach. As sick as it sounded, this was amusing for Geo. The red haired man, whom was also a type of Therin by his ability to change shape, was seemingly innocent in what ever the others accused him of. He chuckled to himself thinking of the result. He shook the thought from his mind and looked up at the sky where the dragon man was flying, and the dark haired man was quickly approaching him with a puzzling way. Geo called upon the primal powers that dwelt within him, and changed his shape into a Chiropterathrope. He quickly flew up to the dragon and got his attention.

"You need some help, stranger?" he asked the dragon. It simply nodded, apparently incapable of speech in this form. Geo unsheathed his great sword and turned toward the rapidly approaching enemy. He flew to where he would take his next step and presented himself.

"Greetings, my name is Geostymas Vaseta. I am the eldest son of King Gomez, and the elder elemental of earth, fire, and shadow. I wish to inquire why you are attacking the Draconustherope above us?" as soon as he finished his sentence, the man fell to the ground. Geo chuckled to himself and flew down to catch him under the arms. He began to fly him away from shore, and out to sea.

"Now, answer my question," Geo said with a devious gleam in his eye.

OOC: once again, sorry if it's short. My parents are computer Nazis

"Now, answer my question," the odd man demanded of Synyx. Not wanting to chat, since Xangatsu dropped into the sand when he fell earlier, he was struggling.

"It was self defense; it was going to attack me again if I didn't do something!" Synyx was trying to turn his head to make sure no one was picking up the cursed sword. "Now bring me back! Quickly!"

"Why are you in such a rush?"

"My sword is back there!"

"It'll stay there for as long as you need it to be."

"You don't understand. That sword is possessed by darkness. Anyone who touches it could kill countless people!"

"That is quite an extreme claim. Are you lying to me?"

"NO!" Synyx was very impatient at this point. It would be near impossible to stop another being holding Xangatsu, and this man was raising the chances of someone getting to it the longer he drifted out to sea.

"Then why were you able to hold it? You seemed fine. Your logic seems to be-- GAH!" The man was suddenly electrocuted by Synyx's Dark Lightning. His grip ceased and Synyx fell.

Before falling too far, Synyx made a platform, rolled off of it, and fell onto the next one. Nobody better have picked it up. He made the platforms appear in a semi-circle and raced back to shore at top speed.

Because the bullets fired from Aiden's weapon had done practically nothing to him, Kenth just flew off again in an attempt to avoid the blonde man. Pretty soon he spotted the dark-haired man and the new figure engaged in some kind of argument, with the figure dragging the man away with an unusual ability to fly. The dark-haired man had dropped his sword into the sand as a result and was carried off above the shoreline.

Kenth just hovered there in the sky and watched as the new figure and the dark-haired man appear to have a conversation above the shoreline. The new figure was holding the dark-haired man, who was struggling to get freedom. Within the next few minutes, the dark-haired man had electrocuted the other figure and started to rush as fast as he could in the opposite direction and grabbed his sword from the sand, which Kenth had noticed earlier. The man seemed to be in a hurry to retrieve it, as if he couldn't let no one else touch it. But the question was why...

Soon Kenth noticed the other figure snap out of it and start chasing after the dark-haired man. Facepalming to himself, Kenth threw back his head again, deciding to attempt to save the dark-haired man with a breath attack. He fired seconds later and aimed carefully as the bluish beam was shot from his mouth. While Kenth missed the figure, he hit the ground right beside him, throwing him off track. The figure crashed to the sand as a result.

With his duty there complete, Kenth returned his attention to Aiden and kept a sharp eye out for the man in case he tried to attack again. It wasn't long before the blonde man was seen running down the beach right past the other two. Kenth simply groaned with annoyance.

"Aw man..." he said. "Give up already, damn it."

Aiden raced past the other two combatants, and analyzed the sword. When the blade compostion came back as unkown, he realized that he might have to be careful around the man who owned it. Suddenly, he was tackled by the blade's owner, who quickly retrieved it.Aiden decided a truce was in order.
"Need some help against those two?" he queried, indication the man-dragon and the newcomer, while also influencing the man to join him.
"Sure," the man replied, almost confused, "But why were you after my sword?"
Aiden replied emotionlessly and truthfully, "To anaylze it. I wasn't going to touch it."
"Well, okay," replied the other supiciously, taking up a defensive stance.

The man-dragon swooped in, launching a breath attack, and Aiden and his new ally both dodged. Aiden loosed a few rounds, setting the laser amplification up to maximum. One struck the beast in the kneck, just hard enough to knock the breath out of it, and long enough for Aiden to leap onto its back and deliver a powerful blow, stunning the creature and sending it spiraling to the ground. It would be down long enough to see where the last man was. Aiden spotted him hovering about twenty feet in the air, with the daark-haired man rushing upwards to him on stairs of...was that shadow? Interesting.

OoC: Sorry about the long time gap.

BiC: Synyx spotted the dragon launch a breath attack. Assuming it was aimed toward him, Synyx quickly dove out of the way. When he got up, he noticed his new "ally" knock the dragon to the ground. Synyx then turned his attention to the flying man. He seemed a bit disoriented, like he lost his sense of direction momentarily. He was partially covered in sand, too.

Thinking now was a good time to attack, Synyx rushed up to the man's height by Shadow Stepping.

OoC: That's how I'll refer to the Solidification ability from now on when he's using it to, obviously, step on solid darkness.

BiC: He brushed past the side of the man and tried to deliver a blow with Xangatsu, but with amazing agility, the man pulled out two katanas. He formed an X with them and brought them downwards, deflecting the hit. Synyx stumbled from the unanticipated defense and nearly lost his concentration, but he continued running. Synyx soon turned his body completely around while keeping the Dark Steps going in the same direction. (In other words, he's running backwards.) The man had caught up with Synyx and was about to attack.

A katana came down vertically while the other came diagonally from above, but Synyx fended off the strikes with a sweep from Xangatsu. The man spun from the impact and Synyx tried a horizontal attack. The man immediately turned back toward Synyx and knocked the cursed sword to make it arc over him.

Darn it! This guy is too fast. I'll need to get to the ground so I can focus on my arms instead of my legs. Not having to concentrate on solidifying darkness should also give me an advantage. Trying to think of a way to bring the battle out of the air, Synyx forgot to stay on the defensive. The strange man had sheathed one of the katanas and a red beam shot out of the palm of his free hand. Synyx noticed just as the attack took place and blocked the beam with Xangatsu, but the force was too great. He was sent spiraling to the ground from the knockback and landed on his back. The man had flown past him and was just about to turn around to presumably come in for the kill.

Synyx got to his feet and brought up another wall of sand.
