Battle in the moonlight

**Hey, this is my first "battle" on this site. I'm using my character Asher, and you can check him out at the character thread. The battle is open to anyone. I'm new to this site, so i don't know anyone to just call out and request a duel. Well, here's my intro.**


Asher had just finished gorging himself on one thing he valued more than anything, blood. As it coursed through his veins he felt his power soar. Flowing through the field, the ground; mingling with the very moonlight that engulfed him and large, open field he stood in. He had just reached the outside of some small city. Minutes before he had befriended some peasant and fed on them. He lusted after more blood, and the night gave the lust an edge that destroyed any will he had. He wanted to kill, he needed to just to satisfy his hunger for more blood. He could feel some being near. He stared out onto the surrounding forest and knew he could satisfy himself soon. He flung his life force, all his power out towards the being, hoping that the it would reply to his challenge, and allow him to feed on a worthy opponent. As the opponent neared the clearing, his energy flew out and struck Asher's. Asher smiled in enjoyment. His eyes turned incredibly blue, the pupil's consumed each eye, making it an endless abyss. Asher muttered to himself,

"this will be quite entertaining"


A light breeze flowed through his dark hair, sending the tail of his coat undulating with the breeze. Asher sliced out his sword, the blade glowed a pale blue in the moonlight. The gem engraved on it flashed a dark ebony, an opaque mist swirled in the gem, asher spoke to it "Yes, yes, even in death you still yearn for the kill, Morte, well, aid me and I shall quench your thirst."
With the last of the words, Asher knew the sword, " l'épée de sang et de mort", would help him, help him quench both of there thirsts. He brandished it onto the ground and waited for the being to accompany him.

**Anyone can participate**

ooc: Blah. I think I'll be making a return to the BA, so here I am, ready to participate. My character is convieniently the first one on the character list. Bio currently is terrible...but it gets the point across.

bic: Asher spotted a slight glint of something as the lone figure approached. As the figure came into view, it became apparent that this person was but a child. However, this child held in his hands a sword, and a shield that perfectly reflected the moonlight shining through the trees upon him. This reflection was shifted to illuminate Asher as the figure approached.

"I sense evil about. It seems you are it," Caffran says to Asher.

Asher sizes up the boy as it approaches him. He laughs to himself, but then realizes a great deal of energy emission from the boy. He raises his sword from the earth and the emmediate ground shakes slightly. He smiles at the boy, hinting a little fang with his lips. The boy seems startled, but quickly puts on a snide smile. Asher's sword's glow becomes more apparent until the blade is all but lost in the hazy, almost ethereal, glow. He holds up the sword, point it at the opponent.
He says to boy,

I am Asher, lord of a faraway city, and a true master vampire. Who are you?

The boy just stares at Asher smirking. Asher is angered by this outrage.

Do you not speak out of fear or stupidity? In my old country, you would receive a severe punishment.

He begans circling the boy, testing his energy and keeping his blade at hand. He stops an arm's length in front of him and trys to catch the boy with his eyes, knowing that if he can, he'll make the boy a willing donator of his precious blood. The ever present breeze turns into a small wind, Asher's hair blows across his face, and his long cloak rides the current. He hisses at the boy, licking his fangs and lashing his toungue out at the boy.

You are quite powerful young one, and you are immortal as I. However, even your fairy will not save you from me. Your blood is fine, and drinking it will give me more strength. If you willingly give it to me, I won't kill you tonight, the alternative, however is quite bleak.

ooc: wow, a correct assesment of my character's personality! That's rare... good job to you! As a thought about my post here, I assume that your character is still assessing mine, and being what he is, can probably afford to not take initial action. If I'm wrong, sorry about that.

bic: "I am Caffran, child of the forest, and a protector of good. You shall not have my blood," Caffran says to the much taller vampire in front of him. "You like light shows, I see. Well, I can do that too, see?" he quickly flashes moonlight directly into the eyes of Asher, causing him to blink, and so he jumps up over Asher's head, landing down behind him, facing him.

Asher whirls around, and Caffran could tell that he had pissed off the vampire. Adds to the entertainment, Caffran thinks to himself, then charges forward, sword and shield raised.

Asher moves his sword quickly, and strikes at the boy, but only succedes in striking his shield, and halting his forward motion. However, Caffran sucessfully shifted his momentum to the side, and went under Asher's free hand, slashing the arm as he passed.

This, of course, visibly annoyed the vampire, who again spun around to face Caffran.

"Bet'cha can't hit me!" Caffran says, then jumps sideways to a nearby tree then up the tree, and into a branch, 10 feet above Asher's head.

Annoyed and slightly thrilled, Asher half-heartidly laughs

"I'm enjoying this already

Asher's injure arm quickly heals, and he laps up the remaining blood, licking his lips with satisfaction. He whips his sword to his side and looks up at the pesky boy. He raises his arm towards the over hanging branch and the wind becomes a violent mass, nearly pushing the boy out of the tree. Slightly surprised but sure of himself Caffran replys

"Nice trick"

He readjusts himself in the tree, facing the oncoming wind. Asher becomes more amused, and the wind dyes down. The glow on the sword engulfs Asher's body and he rants at the boy

You like my tricks, well you haven't seen anything yet.

He smiles and instantly vanishes in a blur of speed and shadow.
Caffran looks confused and shakes his head in every direction searching for the lost vampire. In an almost reply to Caffran's confusion, Asher appears on the branch beside him, crouched towards the tip, the branch slightly bending under Asher's weight.
He catches the boy's eyes for a brief moment, and in that brief moment the boy shudders and almost loses balance. Asher swings out his blade in a blur of blue wisp. Nearly losing his head, Caffran slides back and climbs up the tree. Asher appears down at the trunk of the mighty timber and slices through it, sending the great wood crashing down onto the earth. Caffran lunges from the tree onto Asher sending him down onto the ground. Asher rises violently up and this sends Caffran flying back. In the same instant, he slashes at caffran sending a blow to Caffran's back. Caffran lands on the ground, dust and blood decorating the lower of his back.

Had enough? Just give in boy.

Caffran gets to his feet, and turns to look at his lower back.

"Wow, that hurt," he says quietly, then, more loudly, "You have tricks, so do I." Caffran puts his sword away, and still holding his shield out towards his opponent, he puts his free hand to his back, and the wound glows, then vanishes, leaving only a torn and blood-stained shirt there.

"I shall not give up!" Caffran says, and in one quick motion, takes out a bow, and launches a glowing arrow at Asher. The arrow goes over his head.

Asher laughs at the at the attempt. "You'd better do better than that, boy."

"Oh, I will. Look up," he replies happily. Asher, slightly bemused, glances up, and directly above him, a large branch, weighed down by a huge chunk of ice, is dropping down on him.

Asher vanishes momentarily, and appears much closer to Caffran. "You'll still have to do better than that," he says darkly, then lunges forward, lightning fast, at Caffran. Caffran just barely manages to move his shield in the way, and the angle at which the sword strikes the shield causes Asher's sword to knock to one side, while Caffran is knocked to the other.

Not having time to stow it, Caffran drops his bow, and grabs is sword again, and immediately tries to hit Asher in the back with it. Again using his immense speed, Asher parries the blow, while Caffran is in an incredibly off-balance position, and knocks his upper body backwards. He uses this momentum, and an additional push on the ground, to kick Asher with both feet in the stomach. He rolls aside.

**I assume you mean Caffran rolls aside**

Asher looks at the boy, who is now laying on his back holding himself up by his elbows. He slams his sword onto the ground, it sticks onto the rock earth with ease. He feels a sharp pain in his stomach, and blood comes out of mouth and drips over his white shirt. He rips off the shirt and the crimson fluid slides over his chest and onto the bruised area where Caffron's feet had hit. Pain. Asher had long since forgotten what it was to feal it. Even now he was surprised that some boy had given it to him. Asher began talking to him.

Boy, Caffran, you've given me pain. And I thank you. As a token of my gratitude, you may leave this place unharmed. But by leaving you will forfeit this...

Asher holds out his hand, and a dark, swirling mist appears in it. Caffron's fairy is desperately trying to free itself, magical sparks all but illuminate the shadowy cage. Asher looks up at the boy, gauging his loyalty to his fairy. Caffran's heart skips a beat as he looks on to his struggling friend. He curses himself for letting the vampire capture his fairy. Caffran grits his teeth, and scowls at Asher and the swirling vortex engulfing the fairy.

ooc: Oh, I guess that wasn't clear. Yes, it was Caffran who rolled aside.

bic: "If you think I'd give up, you're wrong. Especially with that!" Caffran says angrily, then shoves the ground with enough force to stand him back on his feet. He glares at Asher, and points his sword at him. He snaps his thumb and index finger of his other hand together, and the sword glows blue, and suddenly a cold wind blows across the forest, sturring up leaves and small branches.

A flash of lightning illuminates the sky, and the following crack of thunder sturs up some birds. As the birds dissapear out of sight, the storm begins in earnest-icy water rains down upon them, but none of it touches Caffran. It all moves around him.

Asher pulls his cloak tighter around him and says, "Impressive, boy, but cold weather will not stop me." He hides the fairy from view and raises his sword. As he does this, Caffran yells out, and slams his still glowing sword into the ground. A wide line of ice materializes on the ground, straight at Asher, and extends beneath him. As this happens, the wind and sleet changes direction to go with this line of ice. The force pushes him backwards across the ice, and knocks him down.

The storm dissapates, and Caffran pulls his sword out of the ground again, and says quietly, "Give that to me."

Asher rises from the ground, his hands never leaving the sword and fairy. He smacks the air with his left hand and a surprisingly lound thunder rolls from the air. The caged fairy appears and he thrusts it up into the moonlight. The cage begins to rise into the air and stops, hovering 30 feet from the warriors. Asher puts on a smile of desire and violence. He sheaths his sword and speaks to Caffran in an arrogant tone.

If you want your fairy boy, come and claim it. However, I won't go easy on you. You are a worthy opponent, but that will not stop me from crushing you, body and soul.

Asher reaches for the sky, and an otherworldy pulse begans to float around his body. It plays around his chest and down to his leather boots. His hair dances around his shoulders until finally he lowers his hands and his eyes lock on to his challenger, his eyes drowing in its own wake. His arms begin changing, fading in and out of shadows, becoming the night itself. He laughs coldy, and lashes his hands out rapidly, ending with several cuts along Caffran's clothing. The boy speaks

You didn't even touch me! How can you do that?

Asher replys, Caffran, I'm a master vampire. Far more powerful than any in my lands. I have more 'tricks' as you call them, than anything you've seen.

Blood drips from the wounds, but instantly heal, only the tears remain in the clothing. In fury, Caffran runs at Asher his shield ready, and sword drawn. He gets within striking distance and swings at Asher. Asher instantly dissapates within the darkness, and reappears behind Caffran. Caffran sees this blur of motion and raises his shield from a nearly fatal blow from Asher's sword. The destructive attack sends Caffran rocketing back onto the ice where he starts to slip and slide. Caffran jumps in the air, releasing several arrows, Asher weaves in and out to the arrows in a blur of speed. He disappears and then appears in the air beside Caffran. Before any response, Asher grabs the shield with Caffran still attached to it, and slams them towards the ground, and in that instant, Asher slices Caffran's leg, blood splashing in his face. Caffran slams into the ground with a billowing dust cloud around him. As the dust settles, Caffran notices the leg still bleeding. And the wound a deep cut. Asher sees Caffran's surprise,

My sword's magical abilities keep the wound from healing at your normal speed. It won't heal for awhile. And your fairy, well, she's quite useless, right now.

The fairy begans emerging for its prison, the black shadows withering. Caffran takes advantage and hurdles towards Asher, his leg in complete agony. He send his sword home, staight into Asher's torso, a little short of piercing his heart and lungs. Asher falls to the ground, blood squirting out, staining his shirt and the ground a dark crimson. He looks up at the boy, and his fairy flys to him. Asher speaks, gasping for air.

I have underestimated you. You are a fierce warrior, and I will not do so again.

Asher rips the sword from its resting place in his chest. He hands it to Caffran, hilt first. The wound heals, but the red stain across his body remains. He staggers up, leaving his sword on the ground.

You may leave, if you wish, I will not impose anymore harm on you tonight. However if you wish to continue fighting, one of us will die, and I've had centuries of practice with surviving.

Asher's eyes have long since returned to normal, a distant, deep blue. He sheaths his sword, the blue mist still engulfing it.

ooc: sorry for the delay... school = evil

bic: "This battle is going no where. Sure. I'll agree to end this battle," Caffran says, puts away his sword and shield, and sits on the ground, placing his hands on the largest of wounds upon him, which glow faintly as he does so. "Just so you know, I don't self-regenerate. I have to actually stop to do this...."

Asher looks on to the boy

You are a good fighter, perhaps we'll fight again someother day, without my bloodlust to cloud my vision.

Asher bows, and dissappears in a smoke of shadows and a blur of pale moonlight.
