The Cold, Snowy Mountain

Oh, and One vs. One, please.

"The ambassador has reached Lunarosso's palace. It's only a mat-" spoke a balding, middle-aged man, cut off in his speech by the man replying to him. "Yes... only a matter of time," replied Emperor Callicos Belleza, with a slight grin on his face, "until the war ends. Richard, after all these years... we've won. And to think some people doubted me..."

Richard looked uneasy. "Indeed, it's only a matter of time before the war ends. However, I have some slightly more... disappointing news. Have you heard about Sha'lai?" asked Richard. Belleza gave him a puzzled look, while Richard cleared his throat, ready to speak again. "Sha'lai is a town on the northern edge of the Empire, bordering the land of Icegrass."

Belleza paused for a moment. After a few seconds, his memory seemed to have returned to him, and he replied. "Ah... yes. Sha'lai... I believe I've been there, once. The fields of snow... the beautiful mountains... yes, it brings back memories. What about it, Richard?" replied Belleza. Richard immediately responded. "It was... attacked. We had some troops stationed there... all were killed, except for one. He managed to make it back to us alive... he said that it was a pantheran attack." replied Richard.

Belleza's eyes narrowed. "And how could that have happened? How many of them were there, and what were they after?" asked Belleza. Richard merely shrugged. "We... don't know, as of now." he stated. Belleza was displeased by this response, and turned his head away from Richard, no longer facing him. After a few strange moments of silence, Richard spoke up. "I think I'll lea-" he said, as he was again cut off by Belleza's voice. "Anything special about that town? You know, sacred grounds? Ancient relics?" he asked.

Richard wondered for a moment why Belleza would want to know this. "Well, there's this legend that the people of Sha'lai hold. About some sacred jewel in the mountain looming over the village. Some say it's a gateway to Heaven. Others believe it's cursed..." replied Richard. After Belleza heard this, he faced Richard, and made a quick response. "Take me there."

Meanwhile...

"Oh, he-heh... Sangre will be so pleased with us for finding this!" spoke Violet, hovering above the dread Infierno Cadenas, as he walked through the charred remains of Sha'lai, the town he most recently destroyed. "This jewel... it makes me wonder. Why would Sangre want this? Why would he want us to awaken his brother... Muerte?" asked Violet. Infierno quietly nodded to the Jewel of Sangre, which Violet was carrying. "He wants all three, then..." Violet spoke.

They continued onwards, approaching the entrance to a cave tunneling deep within the Sha'lai mountain. They were sure to encounter somebody, or something, as they walked along.
