The Canadian-ismness is swelling my heart up to the point where I almost want to change my Australian flag to a Canadian one.

I can fix that if you want. Australians held the other hill behind enemy lines. If you didn't want me to fix it disregard that. If you want me to affect you in a neutral manner, New Zealand also held a hill.

That's cause Australians are like Canadians, just with really wicked accents. ;D

Or so that is 'Geography' according to brokenjoker. <_<

Well actually Canada doesn't have quite as many convicts as it's ancestors as Australia.

But yes I agree, the Borealians are indeed essentially the same as the Australians the minor difference being that of climate.

We'd conquer the world together while pretending to speak French, and speaking beautiful accents of English.

I love how some of the strongest countries in the world are in the Anglo-Sphere.

Also time for bed.

There's no way you'd be able to get me to speak with a French accent seriously. Or an English one at all. I'll keep my own thank you very much.

This is true. :|

*Ahem*

War of 1812 - Kicked America's ass. (Heck, we even GAVE them gunpowder so they could celebrate the 4th of july =D)

Boar War - Kicked insurgent's asses

World War I - Kicked Germany's ass (Vimy Ridge and Yepres earned respect for Canadians all over the world and helped us become independant instead of a commonwealth)

World War II - Kicked Germany's ass again. (D-Day and freeing Belgum form Germany contributed to the above)

Vietnam - Kicked communist ass

Korea - See above (And the thing about holding a hill behind enemy lines for 2 weeks)

Countless Police actions - You get the picture, right? =P

As for why you were never told? Narrow American attention/self-centeredness if I do say so myself. x3

Yeah, Australia was also present during all of those wars (except the 1812 one obviously), but most Americans I talk to weren't taught this and say "Huh? Really?" Each country focuses on what they did in each war, I suppose.

Very true, Cody. Very true. However, the difference between Canada and America is that we were taught that pretty much all of the British commonwealth nations participated in the world wars, and that NATO nations (I think) went to Korea and Vietnam.

Fun Fact to Non Canadians: Canada could've stayed out of WWII if it wanted, since it earned the right after WWI To deny Britian's call to war if it so chose. However, we didn't because we knew it was the right thing to do while American covered it's ears and pretended the rest of the world didn't exist until Pearl Harbour.

Of course, I could be innacurate on a few points since I havent' been to a history class in about 3 years. >_>

Obama fangirl? x3 I dunno. At least, not in the same way as I fan over those other two you mentioned. This glee is more so... finally~ some hope for this country. (And a small part knowing I got to help in making it possible by voting for my first time. :3) It's a general excitement for seeing what's going to happen, and having trouble waiting until January now to see it. x3 It's the excitement that came from sitting there watching his speech last night and actually feeling something from it, some inspiration, and the excitement from seeing the US finally turn a page here to a new chapter. :33

Re: The Out of Character Thread: OBAMALLAMAPAJAMA~!

Australia was helping out against the axis in WWII, until the Japanese got dangerously close to Australia and started bombing it. Then the Australian Prime Minister tried to recall the troops to defend itself but Winston Churchill was like "I CAN'T LET YOU DO THAT STAR FOX" and wouldn't let them go back, and the Australian Prime Minister was like "Screw you guys, we're going home!" and went home. Since they couldn't hold off Japan by themselves and Britain refused to help because they were off fighting Hitler, Australia was like "help us, big bro America!" and America was pissed off at Japan because they'd recently bombed Pearl Harbour so all the American troops came over to Australia and helped us to drive back the Japanese.

That is the full story of Australia's participation in WWII and the reason why it socially drifted away from Britain and towards America! I spent a term learning this, you should be lucky you can learn a term's worth of information in a paragraph!
