Forested Meeting (CourageWielder)

(OoC: This goes off of Azura's biography, if you need to know. First Rp using Azura.)

It has been almost a week since the unruly fighter nearly attacked her father. Azura looked at the knife that she received from her father again, It’s just for my protection. The five inch blade of the knife was double edged, and shone silver in the light. The hilt was wrapped in dark brown leather, with a half circle sticking out of the end, a carving of a leaf in it.

The teen sat on a high branch in the forest, this area was far from the town and her home. The trees were mostly tall oaks and some with scaled pines scattered about. The forest floor was littered with dying leaves and sticks, the sunlight streamed down in small beams, but the shadows dominated the ground.

Her blue hair flicked into her face as a warm breeze blew past her, and the long sleeves of her shirt waved about. The charms in her hair clinked together as they were rattled in the wind. Her gray leather, gauntleted hands helped her to stand up, then put her knife away in its sheathe on her right side. It was angled downward slightly to help her grab a hold of it with her right hand, in case she needed it.

After the weapon was safely tucked away, she bounded towards another branch, and carried on her way deeper into the forest. Her light blue jeans waved back and forth from her jumping from branch to branch, she eventually came upon an open meadow and amongst it’s yellowed grass, Azura spotted something. It was another person, who wore armor, sparring against a training doll. Looks well protected, but why is this person wearing armor if their practicing on a dummy?

Curious, the blue-clad female hopped down out of the tree she was in, and made her way over to the armored person. She noticed that the armored fighter was shorter than herself. “Um, I’m sorry to interrupt, but maybe I could be your sparring partner,” Azura weakly asked, her shyness getting the better of her.

BiC: The wind was blowing through the wooded area, making the trees come alive with the sound of rustling leaves. A few of the smaller, dying leaves worked themselves free of their tree and floated lazily down, landing in young mage's purple hair.

Kick, kick, duck! He thought as he executed the moves, the armor giving extra momentum to the blows on the dummy. Jaiden sat down for a minute to catch his breath. He'd been training all morning, and had worked up a sweat. The young mage took a water bottle out of his pack and began to drink it, the liquid quenching his thirst.

The rustling of leaves then sounded behind him. It doesn't sound like an animal, that's for sure, he thought, running back up to the dummy and giving it a swift punch, the sound of wood cracking back and forth audible throughout the clearing.

Just then, Jaiden heard another noise, like a person jumping from a tree. He stopped punching at the doll, and shrugged his shoulders. "Um, I'm sorry to interrupt, but maybe I could be your sparring partner," came the reply from behind. The mage turned around, a look of joy taking form on his young innocent face.

"Why sure! I haven't seen a person in days, and I need more practice against a moving opponent," he gestured, looking back at the bent doll. "I'm Jaiden. I don't believe I've seen you around before. What's your name?"

(OoC: I'm sorry if I messed up Jaiden's responses. I added Azura's knife to her profile.)

“Hello Jaiden, my… name’s Azura,” her shyness was still affecting her speech. The charms in her hair clinked together again as she seemed to zone out for a moment. He must be younger than I am, should I really spar against him? Her right hand seemed to drift towards her knife in her pocket during the thought.

She snapped back to reality as she heard Jaiden talking, “Hello Azura, what can you do?”

“I’m not quite sure what I can do, since I can’t see it. Um, what do you want to spar with,” the teen asked.

“Hm, do you know any magic?”

“No. I don’t, I’m sorry,” Azura’s head kind of drooped down for a moment. “Maybe we could spar with weapons, is that alright?”

“Sure, that’s ok. But… you don’t seem to have one, do you,” Jaiden asked and looked around her, trying to find something.

“I have a knife in my pocket, but…” the teen paused and looked worried for a moment. She shook it away though, “… uh, never mind.”

Azura took a couple of steps back and calmed herself, “Whenever you’re ready, you can make the first move, if you want.” Her hand hovered around her right pocket, where her knife was, but the blue-clad female was ready to dodge.

OoC: It's all right.

BiC: As they conversed, Jaiden caught a breif glimpse of her face, catching the look that showed she didn't want to harm a little kid. She doesn't know magic? Aw, that's a shame, the armored mage thought to himself, frowning a bit.

He'd looked her over and over again, but couldn't see the knife that the blue haired warrior was talking about. "Just one question, miss Azura," came his short reply, walking back a few feet into the clearing. "How old do you think I am?"

He drew his sword, the light from above glinting off and shining on the leave covered ground. Jaiden took another step towards her from the center of the clearing, seeing Azura reach for the pocket she claimed to have a knife in. Running at her, the young warrior slashed his sword, and backflipped over her head, landing in a defensive position.

"You ready then?"

OoC: Sorry it's so short.

Seeing the sword slash, she side stepped to the right, then turned to face him as he back flipped over where she was. Hearing Jaiden’s question she replied, “You look as if you’re eleven or twelve.” Azura pulled out her knife with her right hand, then backed away from the armored kid for a moment. He’s fast, even with armor on. That’s good.

He ran at her again, this time slashing upwards with his sword. She jumped away from it, as he smiled at her, “Eleven or twelve, huh? I’m actually ten.” The Elders, the tall and old trees around them, were trying to help Azura relax with this sparring match.

They’re right, if I don’t relax and stop worrying, I’m no better than that doll Jaiden was fighting against a short while ago. Sighing, she focus on the armored child in front of her, and came at him this time. He smiled and jumped to the left, but she followed and slashed with her knife.

It hit the tip of Jaiden’s sword this time, Stop worrying, just aim for his armor. The only thing I should worry about is if I start to become aggressive during this, that’s when I should pause. “I’m sorry about stalling earlier, it happens to me sometimes,” the teen stated as she leapt to the right of a sword stab.

OoC: Try to put in more detail, and if you don't mind, try not to power-play as much.

BiC: She's good at guessing, that's for sure, the young mage thought to himself, genuinly impressed. He ran at her with the sword, slashing a couple of times, watching her jump-dodge each and every time.

"I hope you know I've had a few years training with all weapons," the warrior chuckled, swinging again. The blue haired teen swung, hitting the tip of his sword. "I'm sorry about stalling earlier, it happens to me sometimes." He stabbed at her again, and she jumped.

"It's alright," he said, grunting as he frontflipped over her head, kicking her gently in the back. "YOu want to test out your hand to hand combat soon?" Jaiden asked, watching her stumble foward.

(OoC: Sorry about that. This one should be better.)

Azura stumbled forwards, but was able to stand up. She turned around and gave her reply, “If you want to, I’m fine with it.” The yellowed grass around them swayed in the breeze, and the teen sheathed her knife and placed it into her pocket. The sleeves of her dark blue shirt fluttered in the wind.

“Alright then,“ he said with a grin, Jaiden’s armor glinted in the sunlight as he sheathed his sword. He took a defensive stance and called out, “Why don’t you go first, this time?”

She hesitated for a minute, I really don’t want to become aggressive during this, since its just a sparring match… but I’m kind of holding myself back here… The blue-clad female sighed again.

“What’s wrong? You don’t want to go first, miss Azura?”

“Its just I was thinking of something. I’ll go first,” with that she collected herself, then ran towards him. The long grass moved to the side as she went through it, the teen attempted to connect with a right punch, but Jaiden blocked it with his arm. He countered with his own right handed punch, which hit her left shoulder.

Azura stepped back from the hit, before she launched another punch at him, only to be blocked by his arm guard. The teen then attempted to kick him with the side of her left leg.

OoC: It's all right. Just letting you know.

BiC: Well, since I went first, and blocked all of those attacks, she should go second, no? the purple haired mage thought to himself while blocking her punches and kicks. Azura then tried to sweep kick him with her left leg, but Jaiden jumped backwards and scrambled up a tree for a moment, before jumping back down behind her.

"You're a good fighter, miss Azura," he pointed out, rubbing his wrist gently. "But can you block this?" As the young mage continued his sentence, he did a handstand and began to walk towards her, before completing the handspring and jumping off of her shoulders.

He then ran at her feet, sliding at the last second under them to try to catch her off her guard, but to no avail. Jumping up and dusting himself off, he brought up his arms in a defensive state, to ward offf any further attacks.

Acrobatic, isn’t he? Azura felt him try to knock her down by swiping at her right leg as Jaiden slid under her. Thankfully, she was able to keep her balance. The teen heard his comment about her being good at fighting, “I learned how to from watching other people fight, actually, even though its just basics.”

Instead of just turning around, she lashed out with her left leg, only to hit Jaiden’s guarding arms. Without pausing, she fired off a left punch, which the armored child blocked then countered with his own punch. She blocked with her right arm, and stepped back. The meadow grass around them whipped about in the wind, the two fighters were within three feet of each other, when Jaiden charged the blue-clad female again.

When he tried to do another back-flip over Azura’s head, she ducked then twisted around and sent a right punch at him, but it missed. Jaiden landed and took a swing at her legs, and managed to catch her. The teen fell to the ground, but hopped up, ready to defend.

Watching the warrior hop up, Jaiden laughed to himself. She's tougher than she looks. I'll have to be carful on her. Azura had her arms in a defense position, waiting for him to attack. Wasting no time, the young mage ran at her feet again, but missed as she hopped over his head.

Jaiden skidded to a halt, turning around and smiling. "You're getting better, at dodging my attacks, I mean." Jaiden sat there for a moment, and thought out a quick little strategy that'd get her very quickly, and ran at the warrior again, but this time flipping over her head, grabbing her arm and flipping her onto her back gently, him landing beside her.

The mage gave Azura time to get up. As he backed away for a few moments, letting her get to her two feet again, he remembered what his parents had said. Defend yourself at all times. Don't let your guard down, or your done for.

Azura watched as Jaiden backed away from her. She just stood there for a moment, before the teen darted towards him. The blue clad female was low to the ground during her charge, which aided her right arm when she forced it towards the armored kid. He blocked the attack with his gauntlet, then countered with a left, sweeping kick.

She was forced to the ground in order to dodge, but was hit on her left shoulder, which sent her spinning onto her back when she landed on the ground. The grass around her erupted in a small rustle, as some tips broke off underneath her weight. He waited for her to get up again, but Azura noticed that he didn’t back up yet. Reaching out, she grabbed his right ankle and pulled him towards her as she got up.

Jaiden tried to send a counter left punch at her, but she managed to block it with her left arm, and pushed him back. The armored kid fell to the meadow floor with a thud. The blue-clad female let go of his leg, as he attempted to kick at her with his left leg. The two fighters got up slowly, then backed away from each other and stared at the other. She grinned at him, This is getting fun.

She likes to strike a lot, doesn't she? The young mage had been blocking a lot of attacks, and now the time was right to show some true ten year old spirit. But, as fate would have it, she tripped him up, causing him to begin jerking his free leg towards ger torso.

Azura let go, and Jaiden scrambled up, backing away just like the other oyuth was doing. They stood a good twelve feet apart, staring at each other, unmoving. Jaiden then dashed at her for one last attempt. At the last second, he swerved around her, using his elbow to catch her stomach, stopping just behind the blue haired girl.

He turned, and saw her look at him, a little mad that that had happened. The purple haired kid looked at her, and smiled his inocent smile, running back at her and beginning a volley of punches and kicks, most of which were blocked. When he finally stopped, Azura charged him, knocking him to the floor again.
