R. I. P. Duke of Clubs

I never truely did know him, but I guess all I can say is RIP.

Brady. He was the best guy to know even if you didn't really know him.

And Aiko, I was wondering if I could be a part of this RP too...I know my characters didn't know him well but I would ver much like to be.

I...would like that. I really would. I'm sure the part of me where the character of Cadenza resides would appreciate a chance to do that as well.

I almost feel...doubly hit by this. Cadenza had grown so close to Kellson/Johnny since the time when she first began teaching him, and...I too had grown close to Duke the person over that period of time. At first, I was too shy to speak with him outside of teaching. It was like you and Kitsy, where he seemed so sure of himself--even though I knew him from his very beginning here--and...I don't know. I was a Councilor, but I didn't even feel confident enough. But I am infinitely grateful that I eventually grew out of that--and that he reached out to me in time, and as we began to bond more as RPers, we began to bond as friends too. PMing him and IMing him for the first time was a jump I will always be glad I took.

Z may be the most impacted of my characters, but Monroe and Zachary have some respects to pay as well. However, in Duke's honor, I'm not simply 'bout to let Johnny pass in some sad manner. Z wouldn't simply let his rival pass and have that be that. When I'm back on my feet fully, I'm gonna be starting a battle in the Ancient Roman style of celebration of the passing of a loved one in a grand battle. I know it's a bit odd an idea and may seem a little unfeeling, but I assure you it isn't. I'm sure Duke would have loved the idea. Anyone who wants part, PM me. This is the only justice I feel I can do my rival.

Also, on that guest book, I'm signed under my real name: Stephen Ghostlaw.

I remember him teasing me about how my last name "Jones" never sounded right with "Aiko". I hope he gets a few last laughs out of that now.

I just found out about this this morning, from my brother. It almost didn't sink in... it felt surreal. Even though we weren't great friends or anything, he seemed like someone who would just always be there. I've been mulling over this all day, trying to make it make sense. It's so... wrong. So wrong that a person so young and so wonderful is gone. So wrong that all the things he should have done for the world can't happen. I'm positive Duke could've changed the world -- just look at the impact he's made here, on a simple internet forum. I don't know of many others that could touch so many this way.

Like many others, I mostly only observed Duke's posts from a distance, with the exception of a few short exchanges and an rp or two. I don't regret anything... he brightened my mood with all his posts I read. I'm happy to have had the chance to know him, even the little bit that I did.

Rest in Peace, Jared. You are greatly missed.

I'm sorry for you're loss, though I wonder how a young person like himself could die...so young?...

...Wow... One of Duke's writings was actually the first RP I read when I got here, and was what inspired me to even think about starting my own character... I wish I hadn't disappeared for so long, I may have gotten to know him.

I never really knew Duke of Clubs. I never really seen or heard him around ZU.
I just wish he was watching over us to see how sad we are.

I'll keep his family and friends, and of course anyone who knew him really well on here, in my prayers.

It's always scary, he was so young, death can happen to anybody at any age. As redundant as that sounds, you just don't think about it that often.

I remember people saying how he was never able to change the world like he wanted, that he never reached his potential. They said it like he had no impact on the world.

They were wrong.

He DID change the world, and he will continue to. Through us. We will carry on what he started, and remember him in our thoughts. WE will be the ones to change the world with him pushing us forward.

Any death is sad for me.

I'm feeling empty for him, and I never have read but a few of his posts.

I guess thats just how I see death.

I actually did have a few short chats with him from time to time. I'm grateful for that.

But I think something like this just makes me appreciate how close we all are, and that even though I've never 'met' any of you, and the sea is a difficult obstacle to overcome to reach that goal, I love every one of you. Even if I've never met you or talked to you on here, it's opened my eyes a bit more. I may not hang around this place much any more, but that doesn't change what I've said.
