Re: Perfect War, Perfect Deception (OPEN [Rules inside])

Arrogant. He had been called that word before. In fact, he had been called that word quite a lot before. Still, this woman might have had a point. Her weapons were definitely different and new to him. Still, energy was energy. Light was still light. And this woman had made a serious error in her evaluation.

Still, games like these weren't fun unless you took advantage of the fight as a whole. Monroe recalled that, if it were just himself and this woman fighting, the battle would be over quickly. Still, with three other men lurking about, it was better to be safe than sorry. The wires he had grasped her arm with slowly loosened and returned to his fingertips, vanishing into them afterwards.

In the woman's triumph, a strange energy erupted from the barrel of her gun, moving very fast. Still, not quite fast enough. Monroe leaned back and evaded the shot, the blast narrowly grazing his shoulder and burning a small bit of his mantle. The dark clad man stood back up to his full height and smiled. Perhaps she had been the arrogant one after all?

"Within the human body, there are millions upon billions of small, electrical signals transmitted from place to place. The faster these signals get from place to place, the faster actions can occur. Still, within the human condition, the ability to track, evade or catch bullets is beyond the reach of most people. After all, the electrical network just can't respond fast enough to deal with that problem."

"For me, however, well, let's just say that I might be human, but my control over every aspect of my being is much, much higher. You ask me if I'm as fast as Light? Well, as you can see, not quite, but spending time fighting people who are allows me to respond properly," the Quincy said as his body became a black blur. Before the woman seemed to know what had happened, the dark clad man was standing behind her, his back to hers and ready to strike her down. "Perhaps you'll have over the jewel now?"

Re: Perfect War, Perfect Deception (OPEN [Rules inside])

Monroe Vossler silently complied to Jennifer's command, retracting the green wires from her arm and hiding them silently away back in his hand. She had no doubt that Monroe wasn't going to give up that easily, though. Certainly he would attack as soon as he had the chance. Now free from his grasp, Jennifer moved her right wrist down by a fraction of an inch, until the infrared laser pointer was pointed at Vossler's spine, in the base of his neck. The shot wouldn't kill him, but it would paralyze him from the neck down, giving Frost plenty of a chance to get away with the ruby.

She pulled the trigger and the laserbeam flew through the air, straighter than any arrow and as fast as anything physical could possibly move. It didn't matter how fast Vossler was now; the laser would be through his neck before his brain could even register feeling it. If the laser were visible (which, for stealth purposes, it wasn't) it would take longer to see the beam than it would for the beam to take effect; after all, light speed was the maximum speed limit for all information, and visual information had to be detected by the eyes and interpreted by the brain, so that by the time it could even be seen it would already be gone.

All this and more was the reason Jennifer wasn't quite sure she had just seen what she thought she did. Vossler, as if it had been the easiest thing in the world, had apparently leaned back away from the beam to dodge it. The laser barely singed his shoulder on the way by. How the hell could he have even known the laser was there in time to move? How the hell could he have moved his body faster than the laser? Only one thing occupied Jennifer's mind for a good five seconds. What the f***?

After those five seconds, Frost resolved that Vossler must have seen her finger move for the trigger button and he had moved in anticipation. It was still an amazingly quick reaction, beyond comprehension, but at least it was within the confines of physical reality. If there was one law of physics that Jennifer was unwilling to accept as breakable, it was that nothing could move faster than light. The others had been the second law of thermodynamics and Newton's third law of motion, but she'd given up on those a long time ago.

Monroe began to explain how he had done what he had just done, but Jennifer wasn't listening. She was too busy thinking. Hey, buster! Wherever you are, get your ass down here, damn it! I could sure use a hand or two, if you'd like to ever see this damn ruby ever again, she thought to Falenor, hoping he was nearby and listening. She glanced at the wall behind her. Her car was waiting right on the other side. She just had to get there in one piece. She wasn't giving up on this game just yet.

That's all it was, of course. Just a game to pass the time. A game with a pretty prize for the winner. A game with high stakes and dangerous players. She didn't need to win, but she was sure as hell going to try her hardest.

In a blur, Monroe was standing behind her, demanding she hand the gem over again. If Falenor didn't show up real quick like, she wasn't sure what other choice she had. Her carbine gave off another hopeless beep and Jennifer held the gem up to her face to get a good hard look at it while she thought of what to do. She turned the carbine around so that its barrel was right up against her cloak, pointing behind her, and the expansive black cloth covered the entire weapon. She switched the Ruby into her right hand, and put her left hand on the carbine.

Frost turned her head to the man standing with his back to hers. She pushed a hidden little button on the side of her helmet with her thumb, retracting the face visor so she could look at Monroe eye to eye. "You've certainly made this game challenging, sir. But unfortunately for both of us, I don't just quit." If there was one mistake that Monroe had made it was the fact that he was standing right next to Jennifer, with his back turned to her. Or at least, Jennifer hoped this would turn out to be a mistake.

"You want this gem? Take it!" With that, she pushed the button on her carbine again, this time hoping that Monroe wasn't expecting it, with the weapon hidden under her cloak, or that he wouldn't be able to move in time, being practically right next to it. At the same time, she spun on her heel and swung her arm wide, launching the prize into the air, arcing it up towards the wall.

Re: Perfect War, Perfect Deception (OPEN [Rules inside])

The battle has been raging for a while now. Gunshots and mild explosions could be heard in the distance: drowning out the faint buzzing of the security room. Derrik paced the room slowly. Occasionally he stopped to stroke the keys of the centre keyboard, opening up more screens from different angles. He had been watching the action for a while now, having ducked out of the main battle while the other combatants. Now this is not to say Derrik was running away –I doubt he even knew what that meant- but instead was buying his time. The others seemed all to eager to thrash around without conserving any energy. Instead of joining the chaos Derrik thought it better to wait until they were weaker then pick them off one by one. No point getting roughed up when someone else is more then willing to do the dirty work for you, right?

Of course, even the simplest plans of mice and men can be defeated by one simple law; what can go wrong will go wrong. Take for instance this scenario: Here we have a simple Assassin just trying to do his way in the cleanest way possible, I mean that’s what they are supposed to do right? Anyway so he’s hiding out in a secure room waiting for the perfect opportunity like the good little killing machine he is. Now as he waits he keeps his eyes peeled on screens giving him a play by play of the action above. Speaking of above, above this room someone throws a large bomb (Derrik of course was not sure of the actual power, expecting it not that powerful). Derrik hardly takes notice as he sees a straggler running along a nearby corridor. So as he is supposed to do this assassin goes to his door to finish the job. Then the building fell on him, who knew?

So with this thunderous explosion the entire museum came crashing down on the aptly name ‘Perfect Assassin”. Even a genetically altered clone with steel skin is not going to be happy with a couple hundred tons of concrete landing on his head. By the time the spinning stopped the blond haired killer could feel a sharp pain in his chest. Knowing basic biology he concluded he broke a couple of ribs, and possible had some internal bleeding. While his out appearance was still fresh thanks to his skin his insides where still human, -of course the strong body absorbed some impact but not enough to spare him entirely-. Luckily for the blond haired man he had landed near an emergency exit: more specifically a half open hatch in the floor leading to an escape tunnel. Perhaps someone was expecting an assault? No matter it was time to escape.

Sliding to safety the while clothed hunter landed hard on his left foot: bringing to sharp realization that his left ankle was sprained as well. Good timing. Ignoring the pain in…lets say most of him…Derrik pressed onto to the light at the end of the tunnel –Pro tip: Usually this is a bad idea, and this time is no different-. Climbing up the rusty ladder he hound their opening the hatch only to have (according to Derrik) an invisible laser beam rush through the open steel hatch right beside his left ear. If you haven’t guessed yet Derrik had bad luck with these sort of things.

Turning to were the invisible beam came from Derrik saw two figures standing back to back in a way that could have been taken out of any shouen manga. Taking out his remaining shot gun and loading it with explosive shots he waited patiently for the perfect time to strike.

OoC: OMGWTFBBQ? Puck posted! Only because I)boy bugged me so much about it =D Did this at 3 AM so if their are any dumb mistakes...deal with it.
