The Blitz of Deepriver Canyon (Desquode)

OoC: Welcome to mine and David's next BA battle! We hope you enjoy it! ^^

BiC: It was a warm, dusky afternoon. Erani had been traveling for hours since her last meal, and she was now getting that hungry feeling in her stomach again. She trotted on, her hooves beginning to feel painful from the amount of walking she'd done. Even so, Erani carried on, feeling the setting sun beat down on her fur and skin. Eventually, she saw something in the distance. At first she thought it was just a mirage, but as she drew closer, she saw it was the edge of a deep canyon and not a mirage at all.

Erani trotted down the cliff of the canyon, noticing a river at the very bottom. When she was about to turn back and look for food elsewhere, she found a sign saying "Deepriver Canyon" and a long ramp leading to the river itself. Hoping it would hold her weight, Erani raced down it as fast as she could so she didn't put all of her weight on it. The ramp was made of wood that didn't look very sturdy. Suddenly, as she was halfway to the bottom, Erani tripped on a loose board and fell right on the ramp, breaking it apart. She fell towards the river below and decided to try landing in it.

Lucky for her, the river was wide enough to catch her. She fell deep in the water, but it wasn't a problem because Erani was a good swimmer. It took her a few seconds to reach the surface of the water since the river was quite deep, but once she climbed out, she shook herself off and wondered how she would get back up. However, just as she was about to go fishing for some dinner, Erani spotted something shiny in the shallow part of the river where she climbed out. She stuck her hand in and pulled out a golden colored rock. Erani looked at it to see if it was what she thought it was.

"This is real gold!" Erani cried after scrutinizing the rock. "Wow, what value this would be to Ceto..." Erani was reminded of her lover, Ceto, whom she left long ago. She remembered how much he loved gold and how he used to collect small pieces of it as a hobby. However, she didn't think her chances of seeing him again now were very high, so she carried on, keeping the gold as a memento of him. Suddenly, just as she had only taken a few steps, she heard footsteps behind her.

"I believe I saw that gold first, miss" a voice firmly said.

OoC: Kinda short, but I tried! You're up, David.

Erani turned around to see an averaged sized human standing there staring at her. There was a short pause as Erani looked the human over, observing some details. The human was wearing black jeans and a blue jacket covering a dark blue shirt. She could see the handle of a sword sticking out behind his right shoulder, and that his hair was mostly brown, but had some dark brown steaks running through it.
"My name is Naroh." said the human.
"Can you prove that you saw this gold first?" Erani asked.
"Not really, but I did see it before you started running down the bridge. You see, I got here a short time ago, looking for some gold. It gets washed up here every once in a long while. Anyway, I saw that piece and was going right over to get it, but then I heard you clomping down the bridge. I jumped behind a rock so you wouldn't run me down. Then you fell. I couldn't just let you have the gold. After all I did see it first, and I do need it."

Naroh paused for a moment and then continued. "Either you hand it over, or I'm going to take it from you. It's not like me to threaten, but I do want that piece of gold. It's worth quite a bit despite it's size." Erani looked down at the piece of gold in her hand, and then back up at Naroh.
"I don't like being threatened" she said as she set the piece of gold on a rock. Erani drew her sword and stepped in front of the rock she had put the gold on. Naroh observed that Erani was a Centaur, and therefore had fur. Instead of drawing his sword as usual, he said a few words, which Erani couldn't make out, and a 6 inch fire ball appeared between Naroh's hands. Naroh pushed the ball forward at a high speed. It hit the ground right in front of Erani and caused the ground it touched to burn, even though it was just dirt. Erani could tell that it was a warning, but that didn't persuade her to just hand over the gold. In fact, it made her angry. She charged at Naroh, with her sword pointed right at him.

Naroh rolled over to the side and almost slid into the water. He pulled out Aronade, his sword, and jumped behind Erani. Erani quickly turned around and charged at Naroh again. She was just about to hit him when he jumped off to the side. Naroh had been right in front of a rock that Erani couldn't see until he moved. Erani tried to stop, but the distance was too short and she crashed into the rock, stunning her for a moment. Naroh took this chance to jump onto Erani's back and take a whack at her. However Erani recovered quickly and threw him off. Naroh hit the ground with with small thud and his vision blurred for a moment. Then he noticed Erani right above him, just about to stab him with her sword. Naroh jumped up, and out of the way, as fast as he could. Erani's sword only hit dirt.

Erani galloped after Naroh as he ran for cover. She was just about the catch Naroh when he suddenly stopped and ducked. Naroh watched as Erani went right over him. Then he ran at Erani with his sword ready. He managed to take a good whack at Erani's left hind leg, weakening it slightly. Suddenly Naroh fell down. "Man, I must have hit my head harder than I thought..." he thought as he got back up. Erani turned around and the two faced eachother... It seemed like an eternity until Naroh finally charged at Erani.

OoC: Hehehe, looks like you've whipped up a pretty good start for a fight there, David!

BiC: It took Erani a few seconds to realize Naroh was charging at her again. However, once she did, her eyes widened as she leaped high in the air and let Naroh run right underneath her. Once he was behind her, Erani had an idea, and jabbed her back hooves into Naroh's back, sending him flying into the river. Wondering if he could swim, Erani just stood there. Seconds later, Naroh poked his head above the surface of the water.

"Now you've done it," he said. Erani realized Naroh meant that if he's wet, his fire magic won't be very strong against anything now. She simply smiled.

"Well, now you know my sword isn't my only weapon," she replied. "I'll never hand over this gold. Not while it brings me a warm memory!" Naroh climbed out of the river and gripped Aronade in anger. Erani half-expected him to charge at her again, but instead he made a fireball in his hands and aimed it at her. Naroh fired it at her, but Erani leaped out of the way again and found herself landing on the side of the cliff. She leaped from rock to rock upon it. Wow, I didn't know I could do that, Erani thought. Looks like I've learned a new skill.

Naroh gritted his teeth as he kept firing fireballs at Erani. Erani kept leaping on the cliff with her speed, dodging every ball. However, Naroh put a brainstorming smile on his face and fired the next fireball at the rock Erani was standing on instead of at her. It blasted into pieces, causing Erani to fall below. Even though she wasn't up very high, she landed hard on the side of her body right next to the river and scraped nearly half the skin there. Naroh chuckled and walked towards her.

Erani lay there on the ground, not budging much at all. Her sword was gripped in her hand, and her teeth gritted, showing she was in pain. Naroh stopped in front of her, getting ready to deliver a blow with Aronade. He attempted to strike and aimed for her torso. Erani suddenly caught his hand and squeezed it before the sword could strike her and stabbed Naroh in the leg. He stood there, silent, his eyes wide and his mouth moving only slightly. Naroh closed his eyes tightly in pain, feeling the blood run down to his foot.

OoC: Can you get Naroh out of this one, Dave?

Naroh took a few awkward steps back, and then collapsed. He lay there, on his back, for a few moments as Erani got up. She walked over to Naroh and looked to see if he was unconscious yet. He wasn't. Naroh's hands suddenly started to burn with a weak flame. Normally his hands would be engulfed in flame, but since he was so wet, and weakened, his hands simply smoldered. Erani turned around and started to walk back to the piece of gold when she heard a sound, like a fire burning. She turned around to see that Naroh's hands were burning bright, and then dieing down again.
"You're good, very good... But that gold will be mine..." Naroh said as he picked up a rock. He tossed it hard toward Erani. But she merely jumped to the side and it flew past her. Her eyes followed the rock as it flew right at the piece of gold, and knocked it into the river.

"The- The gold!" Erani exclaimed in dismay as the gold sank to the bottom of the river. She galloped to where it fell into the water are searched for it. Naroh got up and used his sword as a crutch. He limped over to the water, sat down, and started to wash his wound. Erani was confused. "Why does he bother washing his wound when he is still in danger?" she thought. Naroh stopped washing his wound and picked up some sand and held it tight in his fist. Then his hands started to burn again. He got up and used Aronade as a crutch as he walked closer to Erani.
"I'm not sure if centaurs can swim, but I can't imagine you could go that deep. If I'm right, then I'm the only one who can get that piece of gold." Naroh said as he looked into the water. Suddenly he threw the sand at Erani's eyes and dived into the river. The sand was extremely hot because it had been in Naroh's burning hands. Erani's eyes felt like they were burning. She covered them as she screamed from the pain.

Meanwhile Naroh was swimming with all his might toward the gold. When he got close enough he grabbed it and swam quickly to the surface. "Let's see how well a centaur can swim." Naroh thought as he climbed out of the water on the opposite side of the river that Erani was on. "HEY! YOU!" he shouted at Erani. "I'VE GOT SOMETHING YOU WANT!" Erani wiped the last of the sand from her eyes and looked across the river. "IF YOU WANT IT, YOU'VE GOT TO COME AND GET IT!" Naroh taunted. Erani jumped into the water and began swimming quickly to the other side. Naroh was rather surprised to see her swim so fast. "Time for plan B" he thought as he ducked behind a rock. Erani climbed out of the water and went over to the rock that Naroh had ducked behind.
"I know you're there!" she said sternly. She had her sword out and ready to strike if Naroh even popped his head up.
Naroh thought and thought. "I've got to distract her... I know!" He tossed the gold high into the air, directing Erani's attention to it, instead of him. Then he then popped up and swung his sword at hers and sent it flying. Erani turned around and ran over to pick up her sword.

The gold was now plummeting down toward Naroh. He rolled to the side as it fell down. When it landed he picked it up again. At the same time Erani picked up her sword and turned around. "Why don't you just give up? There is no way you're going to get this from me. You may be half human, but you have only the wit of a meer horse!" Hearing this made Erani very angry. She galloped straight at Naroh and then suddenly stopped throwing dirt and small rocks at him. "WAGH!" Naroh shouted as the rocks hit him in several places.
Erani sneered "Wit of a horse, eh?"

Naroh was severely injured... He had a large cut in his leg, several bruises, and a lump on his head.
Naroh looked up at Erani "Okay, so I was wrong about that, but you won't be getting this gold from me... Unless, of course, you kill me..." Naroh couldn't do much at this point, he was to tired to run, and to injured to fight back with his sword. Plus, Erani was right above him, she could easily finish him off. There was only one thing he could do. His hands lit on fire once again, and he pointed them at Erani, and before she could react he let out a large blast of fire. It hit Erani. Her fur didn't light on fire, because she was too wet, but the force of the blast knocked her back a good distance, and certainly gave for some "hot hooves." When Erani got up she couldn't see Naroh anywhere. "Where did he go with that gold..." she thought to herself. She noticed something was casting a shadow on her. Then she turned around, and saw a large rock about to crush her.

OoC: Just so you know, Naroh used his Blast attack to cuase the rock to fall.

OoC: Gotcha, David.

BiC: Erani was almost too shocked to move, but just in time she rolled over and caught the rock with all four hooves. After struggling a bit to hold it up, she tossed it high in the air, and before he knew it, the rock was soaring right for Naroh. He dashed out from behind a rock, dodging the falling rock just as Erani was getting up. So that's where he was, Erani thought. I may be severely hurt, but that won't stop me from getting the one thing that reminds me of Ceto! Then, she got an idea that would hopefully finish Naroh off for good. She decided to show him what the body of a horse can really do.

"Hey!" she called. "You want to see the wit of a horse?" Erani leaped back onto the rocks in the cliff and jumped around until she was high enough to carry out her plan. Naroh's hands lit up in flames again, telling Erani that he was probably going to try making her fall again. However, that was not the case. Instead, Naroh aimed for Erani herself and fired the biggest fireball yet. Still, Erani leaped over it as high as she could and crashed to the ground, hooves first. The impact created the most devastating Earthquake attack she ever pulled. And not only did it make the ground shake so hard that Naroh fell over, but it also caused rock slides in the cliffs and the river's water to splash everywhere.

Erani, while dodging her own rock slides, managed to get a glimpse of a small one popping Naroh in the head and knocking him out cold. Now was her chance to grab the gold and run, but there was only one problem with that plan. Where was the gold? It had long disappeared. Hoping Naroh would stay knocked out long enough, Erani then frantically searched everywhere for the gold until she could find it. The searching gave her another idea, this time a sneaky one. She decided to pretend to run off with it.

Pretty soon, Erani located the gold buried in the mud on the riverbank. She grabbed it, and ran away from Naroh to hide it and then continue running so Naroh would hunt her down, thinking she still had it. About a fourth of a mile down the canyon from Naroh, Erani found a small hole in the cliff. She stuffed the gold inside and put a rock in front to hide it. Erani would return for it later after convincing him the gold must have floated down the river.

"Hehe," she chuckled as she continued down the river. "What a brilliant idea. He won't suspect a thing." Erani stopped galloping when she was nearly half a mile away from Naroh. All she had to do was wait for him to chase her now. In the meantime, she soothed her wounds with the water in the river.

OoC: Remember, David, Naroh doesn't suspect anything and once he wakes, he goes after Erani.

OoC: Five posts... Pathetic... Oh well, after two weeks of forgeting, I'm finaly posting! (This was on the second page? o_O)

BiC: Naroh woke up and looked around. "Ugh, now I've got two lumps on my head." he said in a tone of annoyance At first he couldn't see Erani anywhere, but then noticed something off in the distance. "There she is!" Naroh got up and started to run over to Erani but collapsed again because of his leg. He got up again, and started to run again. Naroh kept running, but that fell hard against the wall of the cliff, causeing a rock to slide a bit.

Naroh was frustrated. here was no way he could catch up to her. She was too fast and he was too weak. He slammed his fast against the cliff. a rock fell off and nearly hit Naroh. He looked up at where it fell out and saw a small shine comeing from where the rock had been. He got up and looked into the hole. There was a small peice of silver in it. "Well, this isn't exactly what I was looking for... But at least it's something." Naroh said as he pulled out the silver.

Erani was watching Naroh from a safe distance and noticed him pull something out of the cliff. She started to charge at Naroh, thinking that he had found the gold. But she came to a when she realized that it was a peice of silver. Her running, however, got Naroh's attention. He picked up a good sized rock and chucked it at Erani. However, the rock didn't go far enough and just slammed on the ground. Seeing that that didn't work Naroh rapidly shot out 2" fireballs at Erani. She dodged them with relative ease. Naroh got rather annoyed.

Then Naroh thought of something. Why did Erani run at him after he reached his hand into the cliff? Maybe... just maye she hid the gold in the cliff. Naroh had to think of something quick... The he thoguht of something, he would use Erani's idea! He used every ounce of streangth he had to create alarge blast of fire. It hit the ground with such force that the cliffside started to crumble. However, the cliffside was much weaker then he thought and the entire thing collapsed, nearly buring both Erani and him. He noticed that Erani wasn't knocked out, but she was stuck under some large rocks. He crawled over to the waters edge and started to drink some. after a short moment of rest he got up and looked around in what was left of the cliffside. After some time he found the gold under a part of the collapsed cliff. "Haha! I've found it!"

While Naroh was searching for the gold Erani had been tryng franticly to free herself. Then she heard that Naroh had found it. At this point she tried harder than before. She finaly slipped out from under the rocks and stood up.
She yelled toward Naroh "You give me that gold back!"
"In your dreams!" Naroh yelled back. Suddenly he realized that he didn't know where his sword was. He looked around and noticed it oon the ground a ways back. he looked at Erani, and then back at his sword. Then he ran as best he could over to it. He looked back and saw that Erani wasn't following. He didn't care though, he just wanted his sword. He grabbed it and then turned back to Erani, who was still standing there. Naroh looked at the gold. was it really worth all this trouble? "No, this peice isn't worth getting killed over... she doesn't seem to want the silver, just this gold. the silver is enough for me. And with that thought he aimed carefully and threw the gold hard, and started to walk over to the silver.

The gold landed infront of Erani, and she picked it up. She saw Naroh limp over to the silver and pick it up. Naroh looked at her and said "I suppose this will have to do... You can keep your shiny rock. I'll get by with this." Then he turned to the water, lit up his hands, and the blasted the water with fire, creating much thick steam. When the steam cleared she couldn't see Naroh anywhere. She looked at the gold in her hand and then at the river. She fllowed it to see if she could find a way out.
