Exclamation Divine Destiny or Fatal Error? /any one female character/

OoC: This was an interesting idea that came to me in a dream one night. Okay, well, it wasn't a dream, but whatever. The idea behind this story is basically "what if Kartaikian became the destined Hero of Hyrule?" So, the setting to this RP is Hyrule, and you may see a few familiar faces, but in this quest for the Triforce, Kartaikian takes the role of Link. I also need a character to take the role of Zelda.

I do hope this turns out to be as good as I envisioned it...

For the person who will take the role of Zelda, you won't actually be Zelda, of course, any more than Kartaikian is Link. The actual idea is that somehow your character ends up in Hyrule, and through some "divine prank" ends up being the destined bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom. Sort of use my post as a bit of an example. Somehow find yourself, or make your way too, Hyrule Castle Town.

BiC:

Traversing through spacetime is a very complicated matter. In fact, most people who find a way to traverse it don't know how it works. Usually while passing from one Universe to another, the traveler will end up in his or her destination, as long as the magic or technology he or she uses is working and orientated properly.

Sometimes, though, one will find themself somewhere in which they had no intention of being. Even worse is when they find that they cannot find their way back. This is what happened to Kartaikian on one fateful night. On his return trip back to his world, he felt something in the matter of spacetime shift, and he fell into an unfamiliar world...

* ~ * ~ *

The night was clear and bright. Kartaikian found himself laying on the ground, and he was aching all over. Something had happened, something felt wrong. First off, he noticed that his horse was not to be found. He looked around for Stormrider, the cloud gray horse, and noticed that he was in a completely unfamiliar location.

On the horizon stood a tall castle, one that Kartaikian had never seen before. He also saw a large volcano spewing smoke into the sky, and occasionally spitting fire. Something had gone wrong with the teleportation.

He still had the ruby amulet he used for return translocation, but it only worked in the certain area where you entered the world. He hadn't entered this world intentionally, and now he couldn't leave. He noted all this in despair, but didn't panic yet.

He suddenly heard a noise behind him, and he turned to face an animated skeleton, in the middle of attacking. Kartaikian dispatched it with a strike of his sword, and it fell quite easy. Still edgy from the close encounter, but pleased at how easy it was to solve, he didn't notice the next one.

Kartaikian's armor protected him, and he destroyed the skeleton. However, more of them continued to climb out of the ground, seeming to be formed of the earth itself. Soon he was surrounded, and finding it hard to ward the skeletal creatures off.

Just when Kartaikian thought he would be defeated, the creatures froze. They then began to run in what seemed like panic, bolting hectically in different directions. What was it they were afraid of? Kartaikian then saw a figure, riding a black horse, coming in his direction.

The figure was almost as tall as Kartaikian, and completely hidden by his black cloak. He stopped his horse, and spoke to Kartaikian. "You look lost. Who might you be?"

"You can call me Stormcloud. Actually, I am quite lost."

"Come with me," the figure said, motioning behind him on the horse. "I'm going to the Castle. I'm sure you can get yourself oriented there."

Kartaikian mounted the horse, behind the man. He had a bad feeling about the dark figure, but he didn't have much else to do. "Do you mind if I ask what the name of these lands are?"

The man looked back at Kartaikian, so that he could see his face. His skin was pale, almost a strange violet in color. One of his eyes was covered by his hair, which was unusually light, almost white but not, with a tinge of violet. The other eye was bright and visible. It was red in color, which made Kartaikian especially suspicous of this person. "You really are lost. This is the land of Hyrule. We're on our way to Hyrule Castle now, Stormcloud."

With that the horse began to gallop in the direction of the castle.

"One more question," Stormcloud said. "What is your name? If you don't mind."

"I don't mind, no," the man said. "You can call me Vaati."

* ~ * ~ *

They made their way in silence, until they got to the Castle Town. The horse slowed down to cross the stone bridge over the moat, and stopped altogether at the large closed gates, guarded by two armored and armed men.

"State your names and business!" one guard said.

Vaati spoke, saying "I am called Vaati, and this man is called Stormcloud. Our business is our own, so let us by."

The one guard nodded to the other, and they opened the gate. Vaati led the horse into the empty roads of the Castle Town, stopping and dismounting at the large fountain in the middle. By now it was almost sunrise.

"Well, here's my destination, you're free to do what you will," Vaati said, and then sat down against the stone fountain. Kartaikian wasn't sure what to do, and just wandered the town until sunrise, when people began to come out of their houses and get on with their lives. Vaati remained in his position for a long time, his horse occasionally drinking from the fountain.

Re: Divine Destiny or Fatal Error? /any one female character/

OoC: Yay, my sparse knowledge of LoZ will really help here >.>

IC:

Slowly getting up from a cold stone floor, Winona took a moment to survey her surroundings. Beneath her, intricately carved stone blocks formed a bold pattern. A lavish chandelier hung elegantly above her head, and a four-poster bed with a lightly tinted pink veil took up most of the room she found herself in. Lamps sat at corners of the room, giving the dazzling chandelier a luminescent glow.

“Cassidy?” Winona whispered fearfully. “Where are you?” She heard a faint purr beside her and turned around. The little cat was licking himself beside the bed. The girl stood up, brushing herself down and fixing her tangled hair. “Do you know where we are, Cassidy?” she asked louder.

No idea.

“And what about how we got here?

I’m as clueless as you are.

“Splendid! Simply splendid!” Winona chimed, beginning one of her angry moods. She was cut short by a sharp knock on the door. “It is morning, Princess,” a slightly muffled voice called through the door, A million questions buzzed through Winona’s head. “Princess?” the voice called again with a tinge of worry.

“Uh…thank you!” she chimed back. The Strael picked up her cat and composed herself, before opening the ornate door and stepping into a hallway similarly furnished to “her” room. A few people slowly streamed in one direction, so Winona followed their example and joined the little pack. A few hundred paces later cracks of natural light could be seen appearing from a doorway near Winona. Sunlight, she whispered to herself. The girl quickened her step, grasping Cassidy just a little tighter. Almost immediately her ghostly skin was bathed in harsh light.

“Princess!” a stern voice called from behind her. “Where are you going?” Winona turned round in shock, meeting eyes with an immaculately preened man with blazing pupils. “You have a reception with your father this morning, or did you forget?”

Winona quickly improvised, “of course I didn’t forget. I am just a tad disorientated from this radiant light. Would you mind showing me the way?” The man’s sizzling eyes suddenly filled with compassion.

“Of course, m’lady. Follow me.” The man abruptly turned around and Winona struggled to keep up. They eventually reached a large room nestled deep inside the castle. A slightly overweight man dressed in lavish red material sat at his breakfast. He let out a huge beam of joy at the sight of Winona. “Ah, Zelda! How lovely it is to see you.” The man’s voice was booming and friendly, but at the same time demanded attention. “I presume you slept well?” he asked with a slight chuckle.

Winona replied with a nervous smile, “yes, I did.” She took a gamble with this next statement, “you treat me too well father.”

The man’s chuckle turned into a roar of laughter, “anything for my Princess! But enough about that; come, eat with me.” Winona happily obliged, beginning to like her new role. Plates of bread, fresh fruit and sliced meat lay in front of her. It was simple, but nonetheless enjoyable. After eating, the King let out a sigh of content. “Well then,” he said slowly. “It’s a beautiful day. Go and enjoy yourself around Castle Town.” Winona gave a courteous bow and left the room.

The girl felt more confident as Cassidy strode elegantly beside her. She now knew there was no hurry to get back to where – or when – she came from. So long as she remained in this place she would literally be treated like royalty. It would of course be a good idea to scope out her new surroundings, so Winona was going to leave the castle. This time she shielded her eyes from the harsh morning sunlight as she strode down the wonderfully carved stone steps leading to the courtyard. The place was empty, the only sounds coming from a couple of fountains spouting water. Winona continued on her way through the strange place, readying herself for the mass of people that would inevitably flock towards her as she became visible. It would seem that the power was going to her head already.

Re: Divine Destiny or Fatal Error? /any one female character/

Kartaikian eventually made his way back to the fountain, where he saw a few more people there than before. For one thing, a few armored guards were about, though they didn't look relatively prepared for any disaster. Also he noticed a young female dressed in royal garments. The guards seemed to try to stay near her, without trying to be to obvious. She must be royalty, probably a princess of some sort. He also noticed that Vaati was now standing next to his horse.

The courtyard was slowly filling with a small crowd, everyone seeming to have somewhere to go. Kartaikian made his way through the stream of people, towards Vaati. The darkly cloaked man seemed suspicious to him still, and Kartaikian didn't want to be absent if Vaati were to cause trouble.

Suddenly, though, trouble was what happened. When the princess walked near the fountain, Vaati threw off his black mantle, drawing a bright longsword. He pointed the blade at the girl, and the guards were immediately at attention. The girl froze for a moment, staring at Vaati.

Vaati was wearing dark purple robes and a pointed cap over his light hair; a red gem in the shape of an eye over his forehead was attached to the cap. He pushed his palm towards the defending guards, and they flew backwards, turning into solid gray stone. By now, most of the citizens had retreated, or been turned to stone trying to defend their princess.

He began to speak.

"Zelda, Princess. Fancy meeting you here, you happen to be the very person I was looking for. The light force is just as strong in you as I remember," Vaati said, focusing on the princess.

Kartaikian decided now was a good time to attack, while Vaati was distracted. Stormcloud leaped upon Vaati, knocking him to the ground and putting his sword to Vaati's neck. Vaati simply laughed, and threw Kartaikian aside.

"You cannot defeat me, Stormcloud. Not I, the great Wind Mage Vaati." He then held out his palm to Kartaikian, knocking him backwards onto the ground. Vaati seemed confused though, as if something had gone wrong. "It's...not possible!" He said. He held out his hand again, pushing Kartaikian even further away. "Turn to stone!" Vaati shouted. Finally, when it didn't happen, he vanished in a blast of bright sparks, shouting "I will be back for the light force!" as he left.

Kartaikian got up, slightly scraped and bruised, but otherwise uninjured. He examined the people who'd been turned to stone, finding no way to restore them. Then, he went over the the girl, to ask if she was alright.

Re: Divine Destiny or Fatal Error? /any one female character/

The entire thing seemed to happen in an instant. An odd-looking man garbed in purple produced a shining sword from his cloak, pointing directly at Winona. She froze in terror, summon her magic. No words could come either; she simply stared blankly at the blade. The guards to either side of Winona waved their weapons to try and deter Vaati but were thrown back by an invisible force. The little girl turned around swiftly to see if they were hurt but the mage had already turned them to stone. All around Winona people were throwing themselves in front of her: sacrificing their lives for one girl they probably didn’t know.

The man in purple began to speak. “"Zelda, Princess. Fancy meeting you here, you happen to be the very person I was looking for. The light force is just as strong in you as I remember," Vaati said, full of self-righteous indignation. Winona continued to look at him, the fear completely taking her over. Vaati took one step closer then was knocked over by a stranger with a horse. He fell to the ground as a man garbed completely in grey put a sword to his throat. The attacker threw him off with a simple swing of his arms, proclaiming more pompous nonsense. He disappeared then, leaving onlookers shocked and bewildered.

The man paced over to Winona while dusting the dirt from his cloak? “Are you alright?” he asked. Winona replied with a quick nod but the man had already continued talking. “You seem to hold some sway here, so do you want to explain who that man is?”

“I don’t know,” Winona stated dryly. “In fact, I’ve only been here for a couple of hours.” Recognition seemed to flash into the man’s eyes but he quickly banished it.

“Well, Zelda,” Winona stopped him there.

“Why do people keep calling me that? My name is Winona Balthier.” Kartaiken went on almost like he’d never heard her.

“Well, Winona, since we’re both new to this place why don’t we take a look around together? It’s evident that these people need a saviour from that scourge.” Winona agreed hastily before another thought struck her.

“Wait! Why don’t we just ask my “father” about this Vaati person? Somebody that powerful must be heard of.” Winona didn’t wait for an answer and started dragging them man inside the castle again. “What’s your name by the way?”

“Kartaiken Stormcloud.”

OoC: Feh. One of my worst posts for a while. Hopefully I'll get better as the purpose becomes clear.
