A Blazing Question

Dante stepped in the old man's hut. It smelled of tabaco, and pine. The old man was a veteran of the Hylian Guard. "OK, lets cut through the crap. So, you know the location of a Garo emergence hole," Dante broke the silence.

"Yes. Would you like some tea," said the old man calmly. "No thank you. So the location of the hole?" Dante was getting impatient. "The Guard used to keep many tracks on anything that may have produced danger to the kingdom."

The old man rambled on with his stories about "the old days." Dante watched the shadows play across branches in the nearby woods. He checked the sun, and it was setting fast. He mentally waited for the words "emergence" or "hole". Dante heard The old man said "hole". but it was about some other gaurds problem.

Finally he stopped. "Oh, I'm sorry, I must have been getting off track," he smiled. "No really," Dante thought. "The emergence hole is..." Dante heard and saw what had happened. There was a gurgle, and the old man fell over dead an arrow protruding from his back. Dante screamed in frustration, and burst outside.

On a hill, he saw a very lanky man; he had a horrified look on his face. Dante lunged and picked him up. In an angered voice Dante said, "Why did you do that?" The man responded with a whimper, "It was an accident" Dante threw him, and heard crackling, only to find the old mans house afire. It was his oven.

"You killed my informant," Dante yelled. It started to drizzle, then turned into full fledged rain. He ran at the whimpering man.

OoC: I'm sorry I forgot to put in the title, Cio is supposed to fight this battle.

Re: A Blazing Question

OoC: *cough* Too lazy to PM. I'll delete my other post. Using Kevin. ;3

BiC:

Moments before, Kevin had been strolling down a perfectly normal road on a perfectly average day. But, just as he'd met the foot of a hill, he followed the impulse to draw his crossbow. It was a scary impulse, at least to the half angel. Definitely not an impulse he'd find himself feeling often. But, he'd done so. Steadily, he'd been holding his weapon, his fingers twitching at its cold feel. A weapon capable of taking a life.

He'd neared the top of the hill, fingers swiftly stroking its side, reaching to the trigger and gently touching it. Suddenly a shriek rang through the air, causing his finger to retract. “Eeek!” he'd yelled out, watching the mechanism release and an arrow shoot through the air, its destination unknown. Frantically, he looked around for some sort of relief. Instead, in a split second, he'd been picked up and yelled at.

Which brings us to now: A whimpering half vampire cowering in a downpour, i front of a man, ready to kill him.

As the man charged at him, the marksman dove to his side, awkwardly. “I-I'm sorry! I really didn't mean to! Is he really d-dead?!” His eyes widened at the prospect of a body, cold as ice laying on the ground dead by his own hand. And, while his head grew faint and he felt as though on the brink of losing consciousness, he saw the man charge at him again.

“Yes, he is,” was the man's curt response. His movements were controlled and steady, not allowing Kevin to do much but run from side to side.

“C-can't we just forget this happened!” the angel pleaded as he ran, tossing his cloak and letting his wings loose. Immediately, he lept off the ground and pushed his wings downward, hoping that this new opponent couldn't also fly. Only time would tell.

Re: A Blazing Question

Dante's first reaction to the light wings, was surprise. "How could an angel be so weak," he thought. Then again the mans cowardice gave Dante the notion that maybe he was something else. Dante had always been good at reading people. He kicked back to reality when he heard the man crying out as he flew further. Dante was starting to realize he had a problem with daydreaming, and deep thought.

Dante checked his surroundings for anything of proper use. He found just that. A sharp stick in hand, Dante ran to an area with less trees.. He hurled the wooden pike ferociously into the air. Dante turned his face into the bleak sky and saw, like a dying butterfly, the angel (or not) fluttering to earth, stick protruding from the right wing. Even far off Dante heard the "Thud" of a body slamming into the ground.

After striding to the area of impact, Dante noticed a trail of blood leading up a mountain pass. He ran and jumped over rocks, vegetation, and the occasional dead animal. Dante caught up to the angel on a misty damp summit. He showed no fear stepping on the already slippery cliff; Ikanians were natural rock climbers. "Are you ready?" Dante said growling. "Please...I-I'm sorry," said the man. "I bet you are!"

Dante lunged at the man with Dread in hand. He knocked him with the hilt, forcing the breath out of him. He saw the angel fall off the cliff. Steadily walking back toward the forest, Dante heard flapping. "Impossible!" Dante whispered. He turned and saw a much bigger man standing there. From the appearance he was obviously a vampire. "I am Emmanual; and you have harmed my blood brother." Dante knew this was going to be tough. "I'll get through this." thought Dante solemnly.

OoC: Cool huh. Emmanuel and Dante throw down!

Re: A Blazing Question

Kevin stared up, half expecting to have a sword sticking out of him. Instead he saw a man looming over him, wings extended. From the half vampire's position on the ground, it seemed a guardian angel had come to his aid. He even stuttered out an, “A-are you my guardian angel?”

“Heh, close enough, Kevin. Close enough,” the man above him said, his voice familiar and melodious.

Stunned by this new revelation, the man sat up, folding his wing in, “E-Emmanuel? Is that really you? I-it's been so long...” As he sat there, pondering, something was thrown at him, making him shriek, and bounce it in his hands. He looked down at it, a long tubular device with a notch near the top. It was made of brass, apparently and seemed quite sturdy. Despite having a few speculations, Kevin asked, innocently, “What's this?”

“Oh, right. That's a whistle. Blow it and I'll come to help you in whatever trouble you're in. I've been watching over you for a while, making sure you're progressing and not getting into too much trouble,” his profile could be seen in the dim light, a sly smile standing out. “After all, what are best friends for?”

The man stood into the light, letting himself been seen. It was indeed Kevin's life long friend, the only one that could ever get him over a fear of his. His short, spiked black hair on ends, his skin pale and ghastly, like a typical vampire, and his smile, ever present. “It really is you, Elmo.”

A low chuckle escaped him, “Boy, I haven't been called Elmo since... well, since the last time I saw you.” He bent down, baring his fangs enthusiastically, and extending a hand, “want to beat this guy with me?”

“B-beat? Like... physically?” Kevin's eyes widened, as usual, and another laugh escaped his friend. The half angel gripped his hand and heaved. “Alright... but, I don't want you to get hurt. And, I prefer to not see any blood either...”

“Ever the pacifist, eh?” With a grunt, the duo were both standing straight before the other and, instinctively nodded, knowing everything had just gotten a tad bit better. But, all the while, the cowardly man's mind raced, filled with thoughts of fear, joy, and fear of joy.

It's been forever since I've last seen him! Oh, what if he's changed...? What if this is only temporary and I'll have to leave him again? But he did give me that whistle! What if it breaks? Or, he ignores it? Sigh... nothing ever goes well for me... Not showing the immense amount of worry that weighed down on him, Kevin smiled, nervously as always. “Let's do this.” And, thus, they were reunited for an adrenaline packed fight that had only just begun...

OoC: Woo. Time to expand on Kevin a bit. He may just end up being my most indepth character. Lawl. :3

Re: A Blazing Question

Dante was confused at his long day. First he was going to be revealed, by an old man, the location of a Garo emergence hole. Then he had to chase a cowardly half vampire to the peak of a mountain, only to be stuck in a situation fighting a vampire known as Emmanuel, or Elmo. "What is an Elmo anyway," Dante thought. He cleared his mind ready to fight, instead of analyzing name misconceptions.

After listening to their conversation, Dante was angry. Who did that vampire think he was just barging in and provoking the weakling to beat him up. The dynamic duo stood at the ready, like a super hero and his sidekick. "Are you ready to die!?" said the vampire, pointing his menacing sword. "Only after you are!" Dante replied. He gripped Dread and Sorrow, ready to bust him up and break his soul. They lunged at each other, and thus created a fierce fight.

Emmanuel got the sword in the air first, and Dante prepared for a block. Sparks flying, Dante tripped Emmanuel and tried to bring down Dread, only to have had the vampire roll out of the way. Emmanuel jump-kicked to his feet, and instantly tackled Dante, letting his wings unfold. Next thing he knew Dante was in the air getting his right arm clawed. The pain in his wrist caused him to drop Dread. He burrowed sorrow into Emmanuel's back, sucking the soul out of him, and causing a quick drop in altitude.

They both hit the ground hard, and rolled off the cliff. Clinging for life Dante and Emmanuel had to fistfight. Dante got the first punch, right in the mouth. Emmanuel's mouth bled, punctured on the inside by his sharp teeth. Emmauel gave a quick kick to Dante's stomach, and raced for the top. Dante shifted his weight and climbed. They were both to the top, when the coward knocked Dante on the head with a stick.

He grabbed him and pulled. The half vampire fell into the gorge, punctured wing and all. Emmanuel instantly lept from his position and caught Kevin, saving him from yet another falling death. Both to the top, The Ikanian and The Vampire ran at each other for a final draw...

OoC: Cool fight huh!

Re: A Blazing Question

OoC: Yah. X3

BiC:

Kevin was trembling from head to toe, his crossbow shaking in unison with his entire body. He turned to Emmanuel, smiling to him self inside. For, on the outside, his face had been taken over by a grimace and a thin coat of sweat. And, once again focusing his attention on his ally, he couldn't help but find his gaze fixed on his wounds, the blood pouring out. He could tell that Elmo's vampiric blood would deal with them soon enough, but the angel decided it was in his best interest for them to be dealt with immediately. After having his life saved twice, he figured it to be the least he could do.

And, as his friend charged at his new foe, the cowardly man focused all his healing magic on his minor wounds, hoping to help in some way or form. It was an odd sight that, as fists clashed and bodies pressed, his wounds began to heal, glowing a soft white color. He applied his magic in small dosages, unsure of how his angelic magic would work on a vampire other than himself.

Seeing his friend fend off attack after attack for him, he cranked up the magic, feeling the urge to protect. While urges scared him silly, this one had a more mild effect. He knew this urge was a good one.

~ ~ ~

Emmanuel looked down at his hands, as they thrust his opponent away, feeling the his natural strength emanate effortlessly. Being a vampire, he needn't rack himself with training, nor learning techniques of speed and strength. All these things came to him without the dedication others had. His pale skin glowed as it made contact with his foe's almost equally pale skin. Having charged toward each other with such force, they were both sent flying back.

With a thump, the man landed, “I commend you, you fight admirably, but I'll warn you, I haven't even let the proverbial gloves come off.” He bore his fangs menacingly. Unlike Kevin, he wasn't afraid to bite someone or suck their blood. His moments, unnaturally quick, got him within inches of his opponent yet again. his hands clasped onto his shoulders and his mouth formed into a sly smile, “I feel like a feast tonight, don't you?”

He could feel Kevin's disapproving stares burn into his back, and even hesitated for a moment. In that single second or two worth of pondering, the muscular man threw him off, Elmo's butt skidded on the ground as he went by. Shaking his head, he whispered, “Ow.”

~ ~ ~

The cowardly man lept up, surprised at his friend's moment of weakness. Instinctively, he changed forms, becoming a bat, dark and shrieking. Flying swiftly through the air, he landed on his allies shoulder, ready to assist in whichever way involved the least fear possible. Though, all the good he would do in a fist fight would leave itself to unfold.
